[Q] Battery model\extended life battery? - Galaxy 3 Accessories

Is there such thing for this phone (extended life\bigger battery)? Also, what's the model number to our current battery?
Thought I'd bring a reserve battery with me if I go on a long trip or something so I'd like to know the model.

I ordered from them battery for Samsung i900 and it was exactly same quality as original.
Excellent quality !

that's not an upgrade as standard i5801 is 1500.

Yeah, thanks. A replace battery is just what I need. And I suppose a thing like an extended battery doesn't exist for our phone.

Get an extra one..
I have 2 batteries and it lasts for a week with minimal usage

exist program BatteryCalibration...it would help to extend battery life
you can find it in KirillosĀ“ROM

I wasn't looking for no crappy program to give my battery few more hours, I was looking for an extended life battery which is bigger and holds more charge. To bad those things rarely exist for phones.

I know what you mean, even old phones like google G1 have 2700mah batteries, last for weeks! but not for galaxy3. maybe i can make an extended battery by combining two g3 batteries, i will try.

We have a good battery, 1500 with the screen resolution and processor we have is really good. You have bigger and faster phones that use more juice with similar/smaller battery capacity

Yup. I'm not saying this is a bad phone or has a bad battery (I actually get good battery life), but if there is a battery that holds more charge, I'd be happy to buy it

you could also look into stuff like this.

Well that's better (and cheaper) then a spare battery, thanks for finding that one.
EDIT:
This holds 4400Mah, is probably able to charge the phone 3 times

Yeah, thats even better, I suspected there are better options thats why I said something like that (since there is an ad on XDA for it so I didn't have to look )
edit: I'm bookmarking that! Great find, I might get it someday, thanks!

I dunno what APO/FPO addresses are but a quick google search could tell you

Yup, you can't probably buy it from amazon, I was more just showing that this kind of product exists. You could google the full name of the item and see if any other place sells it

I hate the damn battery, it never last more than 17hours regardless of what kind of ROM and Base band i have flashed...Was it a fake one?

It depends a lot how you use your phone, but I myself have reached max of 100 hours with minimal-medium usage. Typical amount for me is 50-70 hours with medium usage, and max 30 hours with like, google finance updating stocks per 15 minutes and fancy widget pro using gps to show weather every 2 hours and stuff like that. Plus I use adwlauncher ex with 4d drawer and other battery-sucking stuff on. Oh and you should use setcpu profile 166\88 when the screen is off, saves a lot of battery that way

Use bat callibration fugomod be or other undervolt kernel set cpu prozessor speed to 3** mhz reduce brightness= 39h+ runtime with musik usage facebook app runing mail sync^^
sent from my galaxy3 whitestar cfw balance edition

I have to charge my battery everyday I use Kyrillos' rom v5.6, fugumod alpha 14 and it sucks, thinking about buying an ordinary new one....
Also, bat calibration doesnt make a difference...

Extended battery longevity practices

I ordered the HTC 2150mAh Li-Polymer extended battery and door from HTCpedia. What tips do you have to ensure that I get the most out of the battery? Is there a particular charging process you go through when you get a new battery? The battery was expensive and I want to make sure I take good care of it.
Why didn't you get it through verizon? They sell it for $59.99 compared to HTCpedia's $79.99

Fully charge, then use. It may take a few cycles before you see optimum battery performance but you don't need to "condition" the battery. Lithium ion batteries do not need to be fully discharged/recharged, in fact if this is done frequently it can hurt the battery.
You can do a google search if you want a more in-depth explanation.

Fully charge battery, then while the phone is still plugged in, power phone off - leaving it plugged in, then you'll notice the LED will turn red again. The phone will charge for about another half hour or so - this will give you a true full charge.
The OS on the phone will think it has a full charge, thus cutting it off before it is fully charged.

I was told they weren't available through Verizon yet. HTCpedia has an awesome return policy, so I think I'll send it back and get it through Verizon. I could really use that extra cash.
Thanks for the tips on everything.

Just got mine from Verizon today and my company gets 25% off accessories, so it cost me $48 w/tax. I got free overnight shipping by using promo code: freeovernt
Still charging...
After only one full drain and recharge i've had over 21 hours of battery life. i've been using it like crazy for the last 3 hours to drain it again. I think i could easily get a day and half out of this bad boy. Well worth the added bulkiness i might add.

I'm using my stock rom still (havent taken the rom plunge yet, mostly cause I have everything like i want it right now).
I flashed the hydra undervolt/overclock kernel (hydra_ocuv_ov2_n_v07_signed) and have setcpu set at min 128 and max around 800 (i change it to 1000 or so when i need the extra umph and not trying to save battery as much).
Also I have the Verizon 2150 mah extended battery.
Currently with medium usage (both using the internet, barcode scanner, playing a couple songs here and there, send a couple text messages, 1+ hours a day on the phone, playing with the phone on wifi a bit), im getting over 48 hours usage.
Last time on the charger was yesterday morning at 10:30am. Its almost 11 pm and im at 50% right now. I dont have gmail doing an email checks right now at all (i check it manually once in a while), and I only turn on 3g as needed.

GTMax 3500 mAh battery - Poor battery life still

I was wondering how many people got these on sale(12 bucks on amazon) and what results they got.
Ive had mine through a couple charge cycles now and im not impressed at all, doesnt feel like its doubled my battery life.
Im at 80% after 2 hours, with only 16 minutes of screen on time. This might actually be worse than stock. The battery summary doesnt show any major drain from apps, and go launchers running app list doesnt show anything out of the ordinary either.
Im running Faux 0.9/Juggernaut 4.1/Litening theme
Im not sure what else I can do, battery is draining ridiculously fat.
It could be just be a defective one. Some custom roms dont recognize the batter stats properly as well. Try exchanging the battery for a new one and also try a different rom. Also try Wipe Battery Stats in clockworkmod recovery.

Hmm, thats kinda scary, would reflashing a rom from scratch fix that?
Also, google has stated wiping stats does nothing, thats a recent development.
As for exchanging, its from amazon, it took 3 weeks to ship this one to me lol.
It might be defective, it did take 9 hours to charge. 3500/650 should be ~ 5.3 hours, but maybe this is why it was on sale for 12 bucks.
Yes, the myth was that wiping battery stats improves the overall battery life but I was not saying this in hopes of improving it. I was just saying to see if it will correctly display how much battery life you have on your rom because one time I had a problem where my battery life stayed at 100% and after wiping it it correctly displayed how much I had left.
If it takes 9 hours to charge then I think its very likely that you do have a defective one. Rechargeble batteries tend to show that kind of symptom when you charge it often without letting it drain first. Try completely draining your battery below 10% and fully charge without stopping (dont pull the plug). If the battery life is still the same and it still takes around 9 hours to charge then I think its safe to say you do you have a defective one.
Also, please double check that the particular battery that you have is compatible with SGS2 Hercules model. Look at the battery information and compare it to the stock one. Make sure the voltages match.
I flashed Mr X's kernel, since Faux has been off since 0.07 for me.
When i charged it last night, it was from 0%, and it took around 3 hours to reach 34%, so im estimating the 9 hours based on that.
The stickers on it say 'Replacement for Hercules T989' Li-Ion 3.7v, i dont have my stock battery atm so i cant see if its the same, ill check that later.
I find it faster to charge using the usb plug converter instead of off the laptop using the usb cable. If I were you, I'd just use the stock battery until the new one ships in. I believe that's your best bet.
I may not even seek a replacement. It was 12 bucks, shipping would cost half the cost of the battery, and it would take them 3-4 weeks to ship another. The original order took 3.5 weeks to be delivered.

I was excited to get this battery thinking that it would atleast give me one and half times more backup than the original. However, the backup i'm getting is not any better than the original battery. I will see for a couple of more days and if it is still same, i'll move back to the original battery and keep this one as back up. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

Most cheaper priced batteries out there engage in false advertising. Don't believe the mah numbers you see even if they are the same as the stock oem battery. Its cheap for a reason just like the fake micro sd/flash drives for sale at Ebay. There are also shady vendors in Amazon who pump up their own ratings by leaving positive reviews especially the "ProdiCell" cell phone battery brand. With the exception of Seido and Muge, I would only stick with Samsung oem batteries. The Samsung Nexus extended oem 2100 mah battery is really good for $24.99 (50% off 49.99 at the Verizon store). I do see the extra 14% life. I went 34 hours the other day on stock 2.3.6 before my phone died. I actually ran 30mins of video at the end to run out the charge.
Ill try this out with synergy, since faux i heard was a drainer, and if no luck ill stick my stock battery in and continue to use my ballistic case. Ill also give it one more day.
Never tried an alternative battery till this one, and if im gonna go bulky again ill get that 3900 mah mugen, since that appears to be the real deal.

Depends on what you use, however most custom roms go longer then stock roms.
Can also be caused by underclock, overclock, auto sync, scripts, gps, wifi always on etc

Did you bother reading the review below? They're saying that the description is incorrect and the battery is too big for the Gio...
so does anyone here ever tried extended battery? i've been looking into any forums. but always find problem, which is bigger in size, or the voltage is not stabil.
and i doubt that if the extended battery for gio would be so cheap. any suggestion?
I look for good quality battery with>mAh than original gio battery
Not sure if you can find one. Anyway it is always better to use original hardware, just pay attention to your phone settings (wifi, widgets, live wallpapers) and disconnect everything that you don't need .
I'm going to buy some of the battery... it looks like really good for me...
I wonder if it's realy possible to have a significant higher capacity battery with the same size.
In my previous phone (Nokia N82) I replaced my original battery with some chinese one which looked exactly the same as my original but it was no match for the real one. It performed slightly better than my original Nokia battery of 2 years old .
With batteries I guess you get what you pay for.
I got a gold battery from ebay for pretty cheap (i think $20 with shipping). It seems to work better than the original. It is 1430mah iirc. I've run a few tests on both batteries and it does work better by about 20 percent. Perhaps he original battery was defective *shrug* I'm really not sure how they stuff more juice in the same amount of space. Using the new battery with wifi/3g on and trillian and gmail syncing in the background, the phone will last 15 hours with regular use. Never tested with wifi/3g off and a lower screen brightness, perhaps it would last much longer. Still I've got the original battery with me as a backup.
Edit: Running gold battery all the way to dying i'm reaching 33 hours at this point with some system tweaks. Lower brightness, just trillian running and gmail accounts syncing. Still curious how long it'd go with wifi and data turned off but I havent had a chance to test that. My older phone had an aftermarket battery that was three times the size of the original and special cover came with it. It made the device quite heavy but i didnt mind since i had about 4 times the power. I wish they had that for the gio.
1,5 days and it's off
I use Governor Smartassv2 and i cannot have more than 1,5 days with stock battery.
help
where can i get cheap batteries
you could get them from ebay/dealextreme/focalprice/...
And always invest some time to read what others have to say about an item before you buy it
is there a final report on the battery search?
Not really, i really wish charging cases would come out for more devices, instead of just the iphone though.

Batteries
I recommend this one CS-ER800BL just type that into google i can't remember where i got mine but it won't be too hard to find. It's a good battery and lasts a very long time providing you don't have a thousand apps running in the background like i have. Saying that, my battery lasts all day having played a few games, making calls and other usages too (internet games require more battery for signal e.g i play Restaurant Story sometimes) and i have 50 applications running in the background all day long using up almost 300mb of memory which is really stupid. So if a battery can handle that my god it must be something. Anyway good luck there, Tom

I personally wouldn't stick something with Japanese/Chinese writing on, without necessary certifications, in my device. But that's just me.
Mugen Power is a more reputable brand and has the important certifications.

It may not in the short-term, but I expect it would perform better than the cheaper alternative in the long term.
It also wouldn't be the first time where a chinese manufacturer overstates the capacity/performance of something.

I have the Mugen Power Battery and i must say it is working well. The extra juice of 300 mAh gives you about 1h more of gaming time ,this means 4 hours instead of 3 hours with standard battery (maximum brightness, no overclocking). With overclocking to 1.5GHZ you will get 3 hours of game time. Battery fits good into the battery slot but it's not as easy to get it in or out of the slot as like the normal one. But thats okay. No problems with the original backcover. You can get one at their official site, just google it. It is safe and you get your package in about 2 weeks normally because it ships from Hong Kong. Or you find a shop which offers Mugen Power Batteries. Remember that the Battery for Xperia X1, Xperia X2 and Xperia X10 share the same battery size.
I have been using mine for a few weeks and I get 5 hours of screen time and like 12 idle(heavy use)
light usage I can't get like 40 hours
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk 2
Sounds like a pretty good upgrade.
Well, my first day with the Mugen 1800. :victory:
Right now seems the battery drains much slower than before but it's somewhat difficult to put in place because it fits tighter than the original one. Even I was feared of breaking something while I was trying to put it inside, lol.
So guys, since Mugen Power is having a Countdown discount this Christmas, can anyone make another comment on their 1800mAh batteries for the Xperia PLAY after months/weeks of using it? I might be getting one in the next few hours and I want to make sure I'm not shelling out dollars for a crap battery. I know Mugen has a good rep but reviews talk better. Please guys, say something, convince me!
It's the best battery I have ever seen, it constantly holds like 20% more than the stock, even after 6 months.
You need to be rooted to modify a few settings btw.
It's expensive but if you got the extra money and need more charge, then absolutely go for it.
I constantly got 5+hours of screen time
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
And by screen time you mean?
I'm thinking of buying because I think the stock battery is already losing its former juice. It already easily drains 8-10% of juice by just fiddling through SMS conversations. Jeez. Additionally, after I full charge the battery and leave it idle for about 30 minutes, the percentage usually just drops to a whopping 74%. That ain't healthy anymore, right?
I've been using genuine MSM.HK batteries before and they are the best I think. So this is basically my first time to buy and use a Mugen battery.
Screen time means the time that the screen is on.
Normally that's just browsing and chatting etc, gaming time is obviously less but still better than stock.
That is a lot of drain though maybe some rogue app is eating your cpu
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
After months of use, i'd say that with 1800mah battery you gain about 20-25 % battery. Not bad, especially for just 24 dollars (i guess less, with these days discount)
If there's one rogue app that keeps running in the background even it was already closed, it would be Camera360. The app is awesome I think especially with the Magic Skin that I rarely see in a camera app so I basically cannot give up the app at the moment.
Now I'm thinking twice. 20-25% more battery cap at $30? I can't really decide because I could easily get a same (or even better) quality genuine MSM.HK battery at stock mAh for a measly $6 at a local battery shop that I can get to in under 30 minutes. Jeez, I'm confused.
PS, it appears $31.95 for me, minus 7% holiday discount so that would be $29.71.

For some heavy use the Mugen gives you more confidence with its adittional 20%. I love don't be worried about if my battery will last until I arrive home.
If you usually don't have problems with the stock battery capacity then go for a normal, cheaper replace.
I've heard good reviews for mugen batteries but personally I wouldn't spend that much for a small upgrade.
Yeah @LordBattleBeard, I've thought of that, too.
I actually bought yesterday a genuine MSM.HK BST-41 1500mAh for my Xperia PLAY and I'd say at same mAh, it outperforms my stock battery. No more questionable drains, temps stay constantly at 25 degrees Celsius even while gaming, and playing for 1.5 to 2 hours now only slashes about 15% of juice. I say I just made myself a good deal.
Thanks anyway, everyone, for your insights on the Mugen 1800mAh.

In the same kind of boat and stuck between the two. Was going to get the BST-41 but was worried by one massive thing, my current battery, not sure about everybody elses, is a Li-ion battery and the BST-41 is a Li-Polymer. Should I be worried or should I just take the plunge?
I think it's just fine. Most handhelds today use Li-Ion alongside Li-Po, and vice versa. I honestly didn't even know that BST-41 was Li-Po until you posted it and I actually had to look at my Play's original battery to confirm.
As for their difference, here are good posts to read:
