Intuit GoPayment card reader - myTouch 4G Accessories

So, as a business owner and mobile consultant, it has always been imperative for me to be able to accept payments out in the field when servicing a client. Sure, I've always been able to accept credit cards before by manually typing in the info. Sure, I've always accepted checks and PayPal payments.
I wanted to take the time to let members know that the Intuit card swiper works on the MT4G. It uses the GoPayment app from the Market and makes accepting mobile payments in the field super simple.
It plugs into the audio jack and works like a charm.

Pretty good stuff

No. I use Intuit as in integrates with Quickbooks Premiere.

Square reader doesn't work with GoPayment app
I have both apps but only the Square reader. I thought the reader would work with both apps -- just converting mag stripe to analog -- but it doesn't. My Intuit reader has shipped, so I'm curious to see if the reverse incompatibility is true, too.
Does anyone know if the Samsung Galaxy phones work with the Intuit reader? They're not on the official support list yet.

Awesome... i need to get one of these.

I've answered my own question. The Intuit GoPayment device is manufactured by Roam Data, and Roam Data has a more extensive supported device list on their website. The Samsung Galaxy S is on it. See Roam Data's website if you want to know the same for your device.

I use square. It's very effective and affordable.

GoPayment with my phone works great too!!! I also like that Intuit is a company i know won't go out of business soon and I can integrate with Quickbooks.

Aren't the fees on both higher than paypal if you work out the numbers?
Edit - Did some research, looks like both end up a little less expensive

You can also use square which is on the market. The card reader is free awesome

this is AWESOME!

I prefer Square, smaller attachment I can just drop it in my pocket with my keys and forget it's there till I need it.

I currently use Square but am switching to this service. It ends up being cheaper for my business.the card reader looks really big though.

so it plugs in to the audio jack. interesting. so it transfers info via analog. who cares as long as you get your money. i have a evo 4g and i need something mobile for my transportation company. i sometime end up in places with no signal. Does the thing work via wifi?

For anyone who's interested, the Roamdata website has a complete list of supported phones, but it's not entirely accurate. I have an HTC Hero, which is supposedly supported, but the gopayment adapter is not working for me. Square works, and even though the interest rate is slightly higher, I guess it's the one I will have to use.

Anybody receive the Gb OTA yet?

From what I understand some people are starting to receive the Gb ota. Just wondering if anyone here is able to get it via checking for new software.

I found this on a quick google search http://gadgetian.com/20137/htc-droid-incredible-2-gingerbread-ota-update/
I'm not running that version, but a signed and verified one from someplace much more trustworthy IMO. I cannot give a link to mine, but everything about the .4. version is refined from the .3. and the phone works flawlessly now !
good luck and godspeed boys!
i'm sure once the ota is pushed more you WILL see it posted around so keep updating those browsers

I just did a force check and am downloading it now. I am in Southern California.
Just force checked and got it! Tampa
It's also available for me in NY, but I declined... Don't want to loose root!!
Finally just checked my gfs phone and its downloading now. In in MA.

Lakeland FL. Close to Tampa.
I have it, dc area
Carelessly swyped on my phone so there may be some weird typos
Available for me. 50 miles south of DC.
got it in monterey, ca... seems good to go so far...no htc hub tho, i thought sense 2.1 was supposed to have that included...not sure what to do with the new dock option...looks pretty tho
Just checked and it is available in south eastern Pennsylvania. It is taking a while to download over 3G so I will probably try connecting to the university's WiFi to speed things up.
Force check in DC worked like a charm.

Does this count towards the new tiered bandwidth amounts? I was lucky enough to be.grandfathered with the unlimited so it does not effect me personally, so just wondering if ota updates are an exclusion.
I got it and ignored it. Near Albuquerque, NM
Murder-apolis Minnie-snow-ta just got the email from HTC notifying me its available. Waiting to hear more about how its working out for people. Still not decided about root either. Liking having options right now.
Not sure if it just me but the internet browser feels a lot snappier and responsive especially when typing in forums and also switching between tabs/windows. Selecting text to cut and copy also feels a lot nicer and more accurate moving around the selector icons. Switching from tasks also significantly smoother.
Seems that in terms of "bloatware" the only thing new that was added was Google books which is not so bad, at least it is some game or service that requires a subscription like blockbuster.
Also, while the other preinstalled stuff still can not be uninstalled the.option to move the applications to the SD card was added to all of them, which I guess is a step in the.right.direction, but personally them taking up space was the least of my worries with generous big SD card that came with the phone.
But the improved default internet browser had to be my favorite change so far, since I prefer it over the third party ones and probably is one of the top uses I get out of my phone.

[ CONCEPT ] Business Card Reader Concept for Windows Phone

Similar to the notification Centre we covered a while ago we have put together a new Business Card Reader Concept for Windows Phone , we want an applike this to offers an easy way to add a new contact to your phone: simply take a picture of a business card and save the contact. You can also keep the image of the business cards to easy visual navigation – it’s your virtual Card holder.
So any devs out here want to take a stab at it ?

???
If you do a search on the marketplace you will find good ol' worldcard just like what was on wm6.5. Just cost $9.99 but there is one. I would doubt this kind of app would be made for free.
It's great people are stating alternatives here, but this is a good opportunity for developers to have a go at something.
As the OP mentioned:
"So any devs out here want to take a stab at it ?"
I am one of those developers who wants to have a go at this, purely from an educational point of view.
Nothing is totally free in this world however out of respect I would be happy to pay for an app provided it wasn't over the odds.
Personally I think anything developed on the XDA forums should remain open ended to allow people to learn and evolve the project.
Yeah i think I covered that concept on the old Windows Phone board about six months before release...but nice idea.
Very good concept & idea
Well a lot of business cards have QR Codes on them.
But I'm going to try and see what I can do about this.
-Sent from my HTC EVO 3D using the XDA App.
yup. I have placed a QR code on the backside of my business Card that includes a VCard with my Contact info. If you scan it, WP7 will automatically send you to the contacts hub and Display my contact - you can then save it
Whats in it for the Dev Who Suceeds? Free Nokia Lumia 800 on verizon when it appears? lol
For that I would devote all my time to making it happen lol, I dont program for profit hence why most of my apps are free, I program for the free devices.
Guys check out "My Contact Tile" in the market place. It creates a QR code on your contact information. Someone else with a wp7 can scan it and it will save it to the people hub. Love it!

Is this not a thing yet? (Front facing camera via mirror attachment)

I was wondering if I can get something like this anywhere?:

It's a simple enough concept, why haven't I seem this anywhere and where would I be able to get one?
But I can't get just any attachment, I need one that fits my phone, which is a G2.
My Question: Is there an adjustable version of this? one that will fit onto an phone and can be adjusted to work with most?
I've been wondering this for over a year now.
I don't see why not. It doesn't seem like a difficult or expensive concept by any means.
Just thought of something:
what about a micro-usb camera that can be plugged into the phone and used as a front facing camera? is that even possible on android?
That's an interesting concept.
Do you have a link to this product?

And then check the second link on the list!!!

well the idea is great. Looks possible and should be expensive but I think it will require some software which uses the back camera while video call (don't know if it already exists or not though it shouldn't be hard on an andriod). I have not seen this or anything similar for sale as of now.
This sounds like a job for a 3d printing hobbyist!
If people are interested and willing to fund development (can't be more than $30 per prototype print), I would be willing to create a 3d-printable universal version.
I already have a project that is somewhat similar (creating a universal accessory to expand the functionality of your phone) to get an idea of what I am capable of, see it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1476571
What I would need from you guys is ideas about what kind of mirrors could be used. They would have to be readily available to nearly everybody and easily fitted into the holder. The plan is likely going to be, you can order the 3d-printed project from a 3d printing service, then either go to your local store or some sort of online store and get the mirrors separately.
that seems like a pretty good idea but then you would have to carry around a fragile mirror.

Europe and NFC

Guys,anyone using NFC around europe?
What are the services accepting our GNEX?
I hope to start a useful collection thread.
Well, at least in Germany and as far as I know there are no payment services available.

QR-code based. And you need to have an account on bahn.de, with credit card information stored.
(bahn.de (German))
QR is on your phone but to get the Ticket you use NFC

Didn't knew that. I'll definitely have to try that sometime.
You have to have an account though and ad your adress and paying method and all that. I always pay cash for tickets so i don't use it.
Basically you have to use the touchpoint on the trainstation where you start and finish and it generates the prize i guess. Ticket Inspectors scan the QR code on your phone to check the ticket.
Problem is when your battery runs out you are out of luck.

Samsung Wallet

Samsung Wallet, Samsung's version of Apple's Passport, looks really promising. I wonder if we'll somehow get it.
From Android Central:
Samsung has announced a new API for developers to help manage event tickets, boarding passes, memberships, and coupons. Samsung Wallet will be a new application which brings all of these types of content into one place. Time and location-based push notifications will help users get a hold of the ticketing information.*
If this sounds familiar, that's because iOS has had this thing called Passbook for awhile which does (and looks like) the same thing. Still, I have a feeling Android will have a leg-up on mobile ticketing since there's still no natively NFC-enabled iPhone out there.*

Agree somewhat.
But I'd mention that Samsung just partnered with Visa PayWave. When Apple partnered with Visa, they were able to do a workaround:
"Apparently, Visa has found a workaround for the lack of NFC phones by embedding the computer chip needed into specially designed iPhone cases instead."
I could see them offering it to Samsung for devices like ours too... maybe?
Good thing the GSM S2 has NFC muahaha
We won't see NFC other than SD cards like what Moneto was making.
I highly doubt any manufacturer will make a case that has NFC for the E4GT this late in the game.

Screw Hollywood anyways, they use our money to try to ruin our collective internet, at this point no one should be giving them any money, it's self defeating. I won't post anything, in the past i was advised not to post petition links, but if you feel like searching for CISPA and speaking your mind it would help everyone out that uses the internet.
Oh and yeah we don't have NFC, so who cares, my main point aside.
