Headphones with full controls?

I hope someone here can help...
I know there are quite a few topics about headphones around, but i am looking for something specific and i am having no luck.
basically i am looking for 3.5' earbuds for the evo with mic/controls(pick/hang up, skip, back) AND volume controls.
it seems almost impossible to find any with both of these things. it's like you have to choose either one or the other.
any help would be greatly appreciated!

Doubt this will help all too much, but...
My headphones that came with my Palm Pre (single in-line button) are what I generally use if I'm not using my stereo bluetooth head set.
I use Mixing media player as I find the stock music player lacks button functionality (unless I'm just dumb and don't know how to use it).
One click, pause music. Two clicks, advance track. Three clicks, previous track/ restart track.
If while wearing just standard click to answer phone call.
I like the sound quality from the headphones, provides nice highs and lows.

I would however, like a better set of headphones and I continue to look lol more designed with HTC in mind.

well i finally found what i was looking for after many hours of searching...
HTC Wired Remote Control Stereo Headset
that real kicker is that they don't work for the evo. doesn't make sense to me...

It makes the most sense that they are not compatible for the EVO... What'chu talkin'bout?!? lol
But seriously, wtf is up with that? lol

just wish it had volume controls...

the headset for the nexus worked on my evo until i screwed the mic up. call up htc and order one of those.

i'm really disliking the ones i got, but i guess that's what you get for $10.

I use the ALTEC Lansing backbeat 903 headset which has buttons for play, pause, stop, forward, reverse, answer/end and volume. Works fine for my movies and music. They are blue-tooth and last about 6 hours of continues use watching movies or listening to music. last a few days if I turn them off between calls. I love them.

Seconded man... I like how yours are yellow accented (or is that just a design mock up?).
Are you noticing any odd fitment after using them though? Like my right ear phone thing will not stay put.

That was just a pic off the net but mine look exactly like those.
They fit fine still for me but I did loose one of the ear pices once, called them up and they sent me 2 new sets for free.

Apple Earphones with GN

Hi,
i use the Apple Earphones with Mic and Remote with my GN.

what i don't can:
volume up/down

Why in the world would you use apple earphones? The sound quality is horrible.. Atleast it used to be.

Volume Up/Down is specific to Apple's design. I have a pair of Sony's that were "designed for apple" with Volume +/-. Don't work either.

From the market page:
* Volume buttons on iPod/iPhone headsets will NOT work. This is due to hardware issues.

Headset Droid does not use the volume buttons to make volume changes but the paly pause button for this

I've used Westone 4s with my GNex, ph33r!

from my understanding apple headphones uses a completely different standard. if u use any other normal headphones with mic, those control would work.
I DIY'ed myself a pair of old sony headphones onto a mic from an HTC headset that came with my Desire HD and got those controls to work just fine.

I use a pair of Skull Candy Heavy Metal 2011s and the vol up/down controls do not work. the center button does work exactly as you describe.
to me it's no big deal.

Which ones are compatible?
I am also looking for headphones and trying to find ones with volume control that are compatible with Android. I called Skullcandy and they cannot guarantee the headphones are compatible.

Apple headphones are garbage. If you want a mic and volume control, use these:

Alternatively, you could use a Bluetooth remote thing like the Jabra Street2 with whatever headphones you have that aren't garbage like the Apple ones:
Sorry if I sound like a douchbag, but the Apple stock earbuds really are garbage. Do yourself a favor and get some quality headphones. I prefer in-ear monitors. I had the Klipsch S4 and they are quite good, if big on base. I'm using Etymotic mc5 and they're fantastic. Both are great headphones for under $100.

Download JAYS Headset app in the market. It will make almost any headset work.

Mate I used to think like until I lost my HTC sense earphones and searched for something as good as them which is not in ear. All beats were in ear, I.e the rubberized tip which gets deep into the ear and there are too many fakes out there. Sennheiser, and Phillips were very expensive for the earphones I wanted. At that time the apple ones were ****ty and I hated apple things, I still do. Then the apple earpods came, they gave sound quality very similar to the HTC I had and $30 was kinda reasonable for them. Unfortunately I hate that my friends get to see me using it, as they know I hate apple things but there no options which are as good for this price and the sound quality is very good to my ears.
Somewhat I agree with you that it is a sin using apple products on the nexus, punishable by death, too harsh, maybe have hands cut off ()_()

I've never had a problem with Apple headphones. Although it is kinda strange using Apple products with an Android powered device. I think most headphones will work if they are compatible with another Samsung device, or almost any Android device.
You could also use some sort of headset controlling app to use another button for volume and set it so that say, a triple press lowers volume.
I liked HeadsetButton Controller

From what I remember. Single Tap, then hold = Volume Up. Double Tap, then hold = Volume Down. I can confirm tomorrow once I'm at work.

If you are interested in going bluetooth:
Sony DR-BT50 are over the ear style. good sound and battery lasts several hours (4-6 if I had to guess) between charges. At home I have Meelectronics AF32. Those are on the ear style. Again great sound and battery life. They don't stay on my head as well when I headbang.:silly:
AF32 are about half the price of the Sony

Looking for good In-Ear-Headset

Hey guys,
up to this point I used the original S2 wired headset that came with the phone and was quite content with it. Now it seems the mic/pause-button device on the wire broke (neither the mic nor the button work anymore). Since I use BeyondPod on my phone a lot to listen to podcasts, the ability to play/pause a podcast with the push of a hardware button numerous times a day (such as when shopping or people briefly need to talk to me) is very important to me, also it was convenient to accept a phone call while I already had the earplugs in and just talk away and resume podcasting afterwards (even though I only managed to accept calls with the push of a button in about 20% of all cases, which I'd like to improve on as well).
I still got an older headset from my HTC Desire that has working buttons/mic, but I really got accustomated to the in-ears with both the richer sound and the noise-cancelling aspects of using them, so there really is no going back to traditional earphones for me.
Basically here's what I'm looking for:
-) in-ear-headset with mic and at least a push-button to play/pause podcasts in BeyondPod, volume control would be a nice extra but isn't necessary
-) ability to reliably(!) accept and end calls with the push of a button (if I need an additional app to accomplish that, that's fine)
-) as I mostly listen to podcasts, audio-quality isn't all that important, even though I'd also use them to listen to music (mainly rock, metal, industrial, so a good base bass would be appreciated) on a SanDisk Sansa Clip+ - so if the sound quality is actually good, I'd be happy
I was looking at the Klipsch S4A headset, but they mention that there are compatibility issues with the S2 - I don't need fancy triple-click combos to skip to the next track, etc. I only need working and reliable play/pause and accept/hang-up functionality, would the S4A be able to accomplish that with a Galaxy S2?
I'd like to stay below 70 euros/90 dollars if at all possible. Any recommendations from people using a headset in a similar way with an S2 would be greatly appreciated!

Well I don't own them myself, but I've searched the internet a bit and have two potential ones for you:
AKG K 328
AKG K 350
Both are in your price range and AKG is a very good choice. Especially when it comes to audio-quality. I know you said it's not important for you, but I can assure you that you won't regret it.
Anyway there is a small problem. They were made for Apple devices.

It seems that it works, it's just that I personally cannot confirm it. If you want to be sure, just ask the person that made the thread.
In a nutshell:
They have a high build quality.
They are comfortable.
They have (apparently) working controls.
They look awesome (especially the red K328)
There is one downside however...their sound quality will make never want to touch the Samsung earphones anymore...believe me.
If you should buy them, please tell me if they really work, add I consider to buy one of those once my old ones break.

I have some htc RC E190 ear phones, they only set me back £10 from ebay and I love the sound on them, they also have flat cable that doesn't get tangled. They have a 3 button in line remote which allow answer and end calls and with poweramp the remote allows volume up and down, middle button does the following:
single press for start / stop, double press for skip track forward, triple press for back a track.
I use mine for mainly industrial / ebm /metal etc, and was extremely amazed at how good they sound for the price.

If you are not on a budget, check out the REAL monster headphones. Some of em comes with a mic and volume rocker which usually works with phone calls

Google a bit and find out why Monster Beats have a VERY BAD reputation. Amongst audiophiles, that is.
If you care for good quality, you'd never recommend them, period.

Most people recommend klipsh s4a.

Update: I decided on the HTC RC E190, which were fine enough for my needs, if a bit on the silent side. A few days ago, the cable probably broke around the connector, resulting in the sound cutting out in one of the buds.
Not quite decided on whether to get another set (I like the flat cable design, which really proved to be tangle-free in around 95% of everyday use and the in-ears fit nicely, only real downside was that they're a bit on the quiet side) or opt for a different pair.

My suggestion is the Bose MIE2 headset. Fits great, very comfortable and doesn't fall out of the ears due to those funny-looking silicone holders. And it sounds very good, I use it myself together with the Neutron Media Player.

Sennheiser just announced @Ces a new line up of products, including MM 30G designed specifically for Samsung Galaxy phones. No more cheap ebay imitations or dealing with low sound quality of bundled earbuds

These one should have fully featured volume up/down and multifunction button for play/pause/call/GoogleNow. Also should have an enhanced bass sound and passive noise isolation.

Wow. A quantum leap for Android headsets. I also looks like they've placed the controls/mic on a "ear plug cable" near one of the earplugs instead of placing it before the two cables split up?

The mic built into in-line remote which is on one of the cables after the y-splitter, very typical for these types of headsets. You want to keep mic closer to your mouth so it picks up less noise. Placing it before the cable split will be too low, and you will have to lift it up and bring closer to your face every time you make a call.
Regarding the price, I'm sure it will be on par with other MM30 models. They probably don't have it listed officially yet (not even listed on amazon or anywhere else) because it was just announced at CES show today.

Senns guys told me it will be up for sale after CES, since for now it was just announced. My guess it will be the same as other MM30 models they offer, so you can look up how much it sells for on Amazon.

I know.. a recurring problem.. I currently own a pair of a-JAYS one+ where the button/mic is located near the right earphone. Ok sound, but they've only got one button.

Soul by Ludacris actually has a Samsung S cable that is compatible with Samsung phones. Who knew?
Edit: The controller of the Soul S Cable looks a lot like the Lunashops Android cable with remote, but in white.

I have a set of custom Samsung in-ears with oversized drivers and a bass reflex port. It's comparable to the Apple EarPods in termss of bass, and produces crystal clear sound overall, with the addition of the Android compatible in-line remote and mic!
Oh yes, and please change 'headphones' in the title to either 'IEM' or 'earphones'. At first I thought Sennheiser actually made Andorid compatible supra-aurals or circumaurals. Remember, earphones go in the ear, and headphones go over the head.

They are the earphones that came with the Samsung YP-U3 MP3 player. It had amazing audio quality, and earphones to match. The cable of my set came from the Galaxy Note 2, which is the custom part.

[Review] Syllable D700 Bluetooth headphones for 20$

Hey,
some days ago Syllable sent me a pair of their D700 bluetooth in-ear headphones for review so here it is now
Let me first clarify that I am neither paid by them nor related to them in any other way.

General information​
The headphones ship in a small box with them printed onto it:

After opening it up one can see the headphones, a charging connector that is rather short but long enough if you ask me and ear plugs in different sizes:
The medium ear plugs are already attached to the speakers, a smaller and a bigger pair ships with them. I had to go for the smaller onces as my ears are quite small. This was definitely a big plus for me!
The headphones have three buttons as you can see here:
The key mapping is
Volume+/Next Song
Pause/Shutdown or switch on
Volume-/Previous Song
The first element in the list corresponds to a short press whereas the second element is a long press.
The buttons have a good haptic feedback in my point of view! There is also a microphone built in which really surprised me keeping in mind that these things cost just 20$! If you receive a call while wearing them a single press on the middle button answers it. If you then press again the call is hung it.
I collected the following results while running a 15km run:
Pairing​I used an Elephone Trunk and an Elephone P8000 as a pairing device and both worked fine with the headphones. To pair you simply have to press and hold the middle button until the speakers turn themselves on. A built in LED then starts to blink blue and the "D700" can be found in your BT smartphone menu. Only one device can be paired at a time so if you switch devices, you have to turn off bluetooth on the first device in order to pair the second one. I think that's reasonable as also only one person can listen to the music coming out of these headphones so there is no need to pair more than one device at a time.
Sound Quality​The sound quality is okay for me. I usually wear on ear headphones which have a lot of bass - obviously the D700 have less bass and more mids and highs. When I pushed a bit onto the earphones the bass became more present but that is nothing I want to do while running. I still like the sound quality given the low price and the fact that these things have tiny speakers compared to my big headphones. These highs help to understand a calling partner though if making a call. Also I have to note that the built in microphone seems to be good as well because my partner did not have any problems understanding me.
Battery Life​The D700 came pre-charged and without further ado I literally hit the ground running and tested them. Surprisingly the battery lasted the whole 1.5 hours run! The box states 5 hours music time and I ran another two 1.5 hour runs after charging the device's battery via micro USB, so I'd say that's more than enough if you go running. If you want to use these things for daily music I am pretty sure that you won't make it through the whole day if you listen to music all the time. But I wouldn't recommend that anyways because of the...
Design​The design of the D700 is not exactly subtle. My pair came in a neon yellow color and I am pretty sure the designers aimed rather at runners than at businessmen. The headphones are not exactly ugly but I personally would not wear them other than for running or sports in general.
Conclusion​After all I am rather impressed by these inexpensive headphones! You basically get a full functional bluetooth headphone pair with built in microphone, calling feature, music adjustment buttons and a decent battery life for just 20$! Also the bluetooth range is really great! After running I walked into a different room while having my phone lying on the desk and there were no connection problems at all.
The only downside I can on the D700 spot is the extroverted color.
