Finally, headphones with official Galaxy volume/playback control - Sennheiser MM 30G - General Accessories

Sennheiser just announced @Ces a new line up of products, including MM 30G designed specifically for Samsung Galaxy phones. No more cheap ebay imitations or dealing with low sound quality of bundled earbuds
http://en-us.sennheiser.com/mm-30g
These one should have fully featured volume up/down and multifunction button for play/pause/call/GoogleNow. Also should have an enhanced bass sound and passive noise isolation.
A detailed review to follow once I get my hands on it

Wow. A quantum leap for Android headsets. I also looks like they've placed the controls/mic on a "ear plug cable" near one of the earplugs instead of placing it before the two cables split up?
"Price on request?" Is it that steep?

The mic built into in-line remote which is on one of the cables after the y-splitter, very typical for these types of headsets. You want to keep mic closer to your mouth so it picks up less noise. Placing it before the cable split will be too low, and you will have to lift it up and bring closer to your face every time you make a call.
Regarding the price, I'm sure it will be on par with other MM30 models. They probably don't have it listed officially yet (not even listed on amazon or anywhere else) because it was just announced at CES show today.

Nice headphone! How much it cost?

Senns guys told me it will be up for sale after CES, since for now it was just announced. My guess it will be the same as other MM30 models they offer, so you can look up how much it sells for on Amazon.

I know.. a recurring problem.. I currently own a pair of a-JAYS one+ where the button/mic is located near the right earphone. Ok sound, but they've only got one button.

I love senns

Soul by Ludacris actually has a Samsung S cable that is compatible with Samsung phones. Who knew?
Edit: The controller of the Soul S Cable looks a lot like the Lunashops Android cable with remote, but in white.

I have a set of custom Samsung in-ears with oversized drivers and a bass reflex port. It's comparable to the Apple EarPods in termss of bass, and produces crystal clear sound overall, with the addition of the Android compatible in-line remote and mic!
Oh yes, and please change 'headphones' in the title to either 'IEM' or 'earphones'. At first I thought Sennheiser actually made Andorid compatible supra-aurals or circumaurals. Remember, earphones go in the ear, and headphones go over the head.

They are the earphones that came with the Samsung YP-U3 MP3 player. It had amazing audio quality, and earphones to match. The cable of my set came from the Galaxy Note 2, which is the custom part.

quality of bundled earphones.

hey guys what do you feel about the sound quality of the bundled earphones. i feel they are really bad. so how does a creative ep-630 compare with it? also suggest other repalcements.
I agree with you. It is very bad. The EP-630 is certainly much better.
Brother I used creative in-ear's but currently I am using Skullcandy Titan and its really produce great sound.
I just love Skullcandy. Even it is repairable

what i hate hate mainly hate about the bundled earphones is the bass. it is spread out and not solid. so how is the bass of the skull candy earphone?
I think I cant able to make u understand that hows It's bass.
Just one word to say.
Aaawwwweeeeeeesssssooommee
Guys you're comparing absolutely different things XD it's a bundle and I wanna say they are pretty good for a bundle, for example when you're byuing a MP3 player in 99 cases out of 100 you can throw away bundle ears even not trying them, they're just to ensure that there IS sound from device XD
UPD and yeah, I prefer to use Cowon iAudio7 + Audiotechinca for music, not a cell phone )
senheiser CX 300 II
I got frankenphones now
cut off original earbuds, soldered in some Panasonic in-ear ones I had (which had the stupidest cable I've ever seen, but great sound quality), so I've got good phones and handsfree. It even doesn't look very bad if the cable is black and the speakers are white
I have some earphones from sony but works great! !!

Hi!
Does anyone use AKG K370 headsets with the i5800? I am looking for some high quality replacement of the bundles, but there are hints on the net that this model doesn't work well with some non-Apple and non-Blackberry headsets (unfortunately no info for Samsung ones).
I'm still giving Samsung credit for giving at least this good earphones, which imo aren't that bad. I compared them with Senheister CX300 and EP-830 and can say It's lacking bass, but is superior compared to headphones you usually (those huge non-in-ear headphones that you usually see in nokia phones..)
For the record, I've already RMA'd two EP-830's for being faulty
In my opinion bundled earphones are good.
Skull candy all day
Those headphones aren't perfect, but they aren't some cheappy earphones.
I listen about 30 minutes music a day and those are perfect for that use !
Problems with Zagg Smartbuds
I just bought a pair of Zagg Smartbuds to use with my I5801 as listed here: http://www.fommy.co.uk/view-full-pag...ts&skuno=87340
When I got them, they didn't work in the phone. They did work in every other 3.5 jacked device I had access to. After reading this forum (and others) I am wondering if the Galaxy Apollo has the same 3.5 jack as the Galaxy S.
I don't really want to spend $17 for the adapter only to find out that my phone has a different problem.
Can anyone confirm that the apollo has the same physical plug as the S?
See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=713350
Thanks.
Very strange, I use my Beats by Dre with my SG3. Every earbuds i've tried are working
i too find the bundled ones good
i use them daily for about 1hr
I like it, much better than the ipod one and when I go running it never fall
They have a nice quality, imo.
I got a pair of earphones from dealextreme for 2 bucks and they do an amazingly good job, even compared to 10-15 $ ones

Earbuds and Headphones IEM

Just a quick question err reassure me before i buy that i need to buy a set with 3 pin layout right?
Are all the 3 pin layouts the same ie.. if i find one with the 3 it will work?
Like say this...
hxxp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71Dr9lqKKJL._AA1500_.jpg
I want to buy these but i really don't know if they work or not...
hxxp://www.amazon.com/Atomic-Earphones-Microphone-iPhone-Compatible/dp/B002RWJDB6/ref=acc_glance_e_ai_purchase_similarities_t_4
Please any and all help and criticism welcome too...
I won't comment on the pins but if you're replacing the stock earphones for better sound quality, these will not give it. I have not listened to these but I have to a higher-end model of JBuds and they sound worse than stock.
The JVC Air Cushions on Amazon for 16-20$ are amazing, especially with PowerAmp app and listening to Techno/Electronic/House music, as well as everything else. I bought a 75$ pair of NuForce 700X IEMs and they sounded the same as my 20$ JVC Air Cushions.

Compatibility question
I have been searching far and wide for compatible in-ear headphones with a mic.
Looking at the pinout differences between the iphone and most android phones, I was very disappointed in what is available. The GND and MIC signals are reversed for many popular android phones compared to the iphone headset pinout. However, the other day, I plugged my friend's iphone headset into my captivate... AND IT WORKED!! I was shocked! I tried my headset in her iphone and that also worked.
Does this mean that iphone headsets work with the captivate? I would just love it if the headset and mic worked. Buttons would be nice, but you can't have everything.
Does anyone have experience with the Klipsch S4i or the Ultimate Ears 500vi with their captivates?
I have experience with the Ultimate Ears TripleFi 5vi on the Captivate and it works, so I'd imagine that extends to all iPhone compatible headsets. I checked out the 500vi and those use diaphragm rather than balanced armature drivers, even though they are not that different in price. I really suggest going for the pair with the better drivers, as there will be a drastic difference in sound quality.
If anyone cares...
Ok this is what i found in the I9000 forum hope it works for what i want...
Ebay link paid $13 shipped from UK...
This is what i want from it Vol up down button and mic...

The Etymotic HF2 work great with the Captivate and the quality is great.
By the way, has anybody tried the HF3? They don't work with some Android phones with I haven't found anything about the Captivate.
Play/pause music with in-line mic control button
Lots of headphone/mic threads, so wanted to bump one with recent activity to ask a question.
I recently upgraded to GB, was listening to music with a seat of headphones with an in-line mic. I paused the song using the control button on the mic, had a conversation, and when I clicked the mic button again...nothing. The button would only begin playing the paused song if the screen was on. I tried several different lock screens, music players, widgets etc. No matter what, I experienced this functionality:
1. Music is playing
2. Screen times out after X minutes, or I turn if off with a click of the power button
3. 1 click from the in-line mic button will pause the music
4. If I click again within ~5 seconds, the music will begin to play again
5. If I wait 5-10+ seconds before clicking, the music will not start again with a single click until after I turn the screen back on again.
I’m almost 99% sure that this wasn’t the case on my old Froyo-based ROM, so I wanted to check in to see if this is just standard for everyone.
Thanks!

[Q] apple iphone 5 headphones volume control on android

I did a lot of searching and I havent found a solid solution. I have a pair of iphone 5 headphones that I love because they fit in my ears perfectly and they sound great. The volume controls on the headphones remote dont work on my galaxy note 2 though so I ordered a cheap pair of samsung headphones from amazon and the volume controls on the headphones remote work, but they hurt my ears and they dont sound so great. Can I somehow switch the remote from the samsung headphones over to the iphone headphones and make it work without losing sound quality. Thanks.

Androids cannot read iPhone volume controls, and vice versa. They never will be able to, either. The only way to get volume control with the EarPods is to swap the whole cable. I did this to an old pair of Samsung buds because I like them more than the silicone-tipped IEMs that come with the Note 2.
Do this at your own risk! It might not be possible to do it to a pair of EarPods perfectly.

(Kinda.) I used the earphones from a Samsung YP-U3 MP3 player that I had from 2007.
What I did:
1. I popped open the earbuds
2. Unsoldered them from the original cable
3. Untied the knots that were keeping the cable in place, then pulled the cable out of the earbud
4. Repeated steps 2 and 3 with Note 2 set
5. Did the old switcheroo (well, the Note 2's set was forcefully separated, so I couldn't reuse them - see the plier marks in the picture below) and put the Note 2 set's cable into the YP-U3's earbuds
6. Re-tied the knots and re-soldered the drivers
7. Popped the earbuds back together
The result was a seamless finish! No heatshrink used. As you can see from my previous post, I replaced the YP-U3's earphone cable connector before, resulting in ugly heatshrinking near the connector.

Well, my solution is as solid as it gets. No one else has ever attempted my method of swapping the cables of the earphones without splicing the cables.

Do you have to ask? Of course, general accessories section has less views and replies. Here is a deal with XDA. People get new phone, they want to learn everything about it, and visit only the section for that phone, specifically "rooting" and "accessories". As the phone ages, less people visit that section of the forum. When I first got Note 2, it's accessories section was booming. I was getting thousands of views within days. Now it slowed down, while S4 section and Note 3 sections are at the peak of the traffic. General section will never get as much attention because someone has to specifically visit it. But the deal is that anybody who will be searching for any specific topic related to your post will definitely going to find your thread. Also, whenever you create a new thread it always suggests other threads with similar topics so you don't have to create doubles. I just accepted it.
Btw, speaking of headphones with volume controls, did you see my post in my UE900 review thread? I got a custom made cable from Lunashops for UE900 where they used "original" Samsung in-line remote/mic and now I have multi-function button and volume control with these.

Supplied Earphones

The supplied earphones are white in my UK Platinum model!
The earbuds are a bit too big and don't fit very well in my left ear. I used crappy apple type earphones for my current phone and do not have any earbuds I can refit. What do you recommend is a good pair or earphones in UK that are very reasonably priced!
Soundmagic e10, the best and cheap.

Soundmagic e10 are superb!
I find the (presumably) same white earphones included with my 870DS to be fine, but the DAC doesn't normalise the sound. So volume levels are all over the place if files aren't normalised in advance (I only use flac files). So I use high quality bluetooth 4.1 earphones when on the go, and a high quality mini-jack to phono cable for playing through my hifi amp. Given the price of a dedicated hifi music player, such as the Pioneer XDP-300R, which has only a twin dac but includes a balanced output, or the Fiio X5, which has coaxial digital output but no dac, the G6 does an admirable job for the money.
