Harrier Ban? - HTC Harrier

Is this true?

It was true a year ago, not true any more.
UPDATE: AS OF APRIL 16TH 2010, PALMS AND HTCS ARE NO LONGER BANNED. BLACKBERRIES CONTINUE TO BE BANNED BUT THERE IS HOPE THAT THAT WILL BE LIFTED IN THE FUTURE.

Did an ESN swap last month. Everything went well. Also, no $10/mo data surcharge addon from Sprint.

I do not understand this

T-Mobile Touch Pro2 to be released August 15 according to sales rep

no comment... I'm tired of this BS with release dates.
Wha????? noooooooooooooo!! What happened to August 12th? grrrrrr. It figures though. Heck, even Telus (Canada) has there's out already. Price of $249 w/ 3 yr. contract.
Oh well, I shall continue to wait.

True. So true. But I sooooooo hate this BB Pearl Flip.
Err, still August 12th
sales rep is wrong, phones are always released on a Wednesday... the date has been stated in multiple internal documents, there is no reason they would push it back 3 days
Weird...I'm visiting Ohio & just asked a tmob sales rep at a mall. He also said Aug. 15th!
Still the 12th.
Training was given over 3 weeks ago.
No price given yet though.....
The myTouch has the limelight because of Google.
I find it funny how I write No Comment. But after that I write a comment about how I feel about that.
My local Tmobile Store told me Aug 12th at first but I called yesterday and they said the 15th too. Maybe they will make it available for online ordering on the 12th and stores will put it out on the 15th ??
I can't wait to switch from ATT. ATT sucks.

no. No. NO. I just talked to Pda/BlackBerry dept. and it is definately the 12th. T-Mob NEVER releases phones on a Saturday. It's just the company's policy. Wednesday is like a "Thank God I am in the middle of the week" release date. I am upgrading from a BB, they have made a special allotment for me , I guess I am just used to HTC phones. The local T-Mob stores don't know nothing. Heck, I went instore yesterday to my fav rep, and she said they didn't even have the display version yet, so how would they know. lol. But then again, she is getting the myTouch 3G so .. well.. .. anyway.

Lets hope so man. I can't wait to get it my hands on it. I will pop by at the tmo store in my neighborhood tomorrow and see whats up.
Maybe that will give me more time to sell my BB 8900. I need a buyer and I don't have one yet. I wont be able to buy the TP2 if I don't get someone to buy my 8900. I will have to get it 2-3 weeks after it drops!

I was on the phone with T-Mobile earlier asking if I have an upgrade. While finding out she asked me what phone I wanted and I said the TP2. She said "that doesn't release until Wednesday!"
All right so I am getting mine tomorrow. My local Tmo store has 6. Guy told me 2 are already spoken for and I just got the 3rd one.

I was going to get this phone, but the $349.00 price is outrageous. I am NOT under contract with T-Mobile (customer for SEVEN YEARS), so if they can't come down, I'm walking right over to AT&T. I've been using a Wing for two years and I've been waiting patiently for T-Mo to release a new winmo phone, and the price turning out to be so high after all this waiting has me steamed.

To add fuel to my fire, they are also going to require a data plan for the entire two years. I live in a rural area, so I am stuck with T-Mo's notoriously slow EDGE network; T-Mo's 3G network doesn't come within 35 miles of my house!

Another AT&T TouchPro2 release date "leak" - November 2009

Was talking to an AT&T cancellation rep, and after 5 mins of "research" and a thoughtful sigh, she unofficially hinted at a AT&T's TP2 release date in November 2009.
I'm packing hot pockets and diapers, will be waiting for November.
For those of us that don't have to be the first kid on the block to get some new toy, it shouldn't be too much of a wait.
EDIT: Another nail in that coffin would be the release date of Fuze, November 11, 2007. Would make sense if TP2 would also be released in the same timeframe.
November 9th??!! That's ridiculous! I hope that its JUST another rumor.

Not November 9, November '09 (2009). Besides, it's what AT&T's customer service rep said, doubt she'd spread rumors.. she'd just say "no info availble bla bla bla"...
Reason she hinted the release date was (I think) because she was a cancellation rep (they got more stuff available to them), I told her that that phone is THE reason I want to switch to Verizon, and to sign another 2yr contract I NEED AT&T to have that phone.
The way she said it made it clear to me that "We have the info, it will be released come November, but I can't tell you that.". Also she repeated 3-4 times: "It will be released... in the _VERY_ near future.. VERY NEAR... say 2 months time"
The reps hardly ever know any real information far in advance. Often times people hear 10 different things from 10 different reps. If you were to go back to previous launch threads you would see how often reps give out false information, because they generally don't know.
October 2009 still makes more sense with launch of WinMo 6.5 imo.
If it's November, then AT&T better beat Verizon's up front price for the phone.
Like I'm talking the TP2 needs to cost under $250, and have at least a $50 MIR, and come with an 8GB microSD card, and an audio jack.
Seriously. It's enough to make me get an iPhone instead and just jailbreak it.

No way will they throw in a 8GB mircoSD. But I really hope Verizon's price forces AT&T to keep it under $299 before any possible rebate.
that's freaken ridiculous. AT&T better release the Tilt 2 in October. it doesn't make sense that they have to keep all their release dates lined up EXACTLY. they should just release it in October, it's only a month off of the Fuze's release date. I'm seriously thinking about giving up on this phone and getting an unlocked Hero. I'm getting tired of WinMo anyway. Android JUST came out, and I already like it better than WinMo.

I wouldn't hold your breath. this is another flagship phone from HTC, so it definitely won't be under 250, we're looking at something more along the lines of 300+ (look at how much the tilt and the fuze costed) AT&T will never give out a 8gb micro sd like that.

this also makes me think that they possibly will release it on the 6th to coincide with winmo 6.5. If so then i will be ok with that. if the tp2 isn't released on that day than i'm going to another carrier. i just know i'm going to have a touch pro 2 that week.
C'mon guys, do you really think AT&T is smart enough to coincide the relase of their phone with WM6.5?! No f'ing way. I guarantee it will come out AFTER october 6th, AND it will probably have WM6.1 on it. They're going to need months and months to test their bloatware on 6.5 before they even try to release it. I'm so god damn fed up with AT&T!
well phones are getting released on the 6th and there's no doubt that they will come with bloatware. i'm sure att has already been testing there software on 6.5 builds. the question is will at&t open their iphone corrupted eyes and notice that there is a high demand for this phone in time
I believe there are leaked AT&T TP2 roms based on 6.5, been out there for a while. WinMo 6.5 was finished in May and in release to manufacturer state (http://twitter.com/wmdev/status/1797927736). So AT&T, and other carriers have had over 4 months to install their bloatware. Also the spyshot of the AT&T Tilt 2 was running WinMo 6.5
Again nothing conclusive, but lots of possible supporting evidence it will launch with WinMo 6.5.

It's that time of year again (upgrade questions)

If you have any questions I will answer them for you, but I will try to explain it as simple as I can.
When was your last upgrade used? If it was used before March 31st 2010 you should not lose the upgrade as you've already reached the 1 year mark. The system could change it, at which point you'd have to call and ask them to reset it, in a very kindly manner because they can say no.
If it was used after March 31st, you will lose it unless you've been with Sprint for 10 years or more, or you are on one of the new plans that still qualify you for yearly upgrades: $89.99 or higher for individual plans and $169.99 for family plans.
If you've been with Sprint 10+ years you will never lose the yearly upgrades (unless Sprint completely scraps the program). Same thing goes if you are on one of the plans I mentioned above.
If you're confused, let me know.
umm i just spoke to a rep and she said that i'm elgible for an upgrade on july 1 2011. and i'm only on the 69.99 and only been with sprint for a year. did she lie?

Not necessarily, but come April 1st the program changes so your upgrade would be removed from July 1st 2011 to May 2012 as you're not meeting the newer qualifications to give you 1 year upgrades.
Okay:
3 Lines
Switched to Sprint / Contract started the day the evo launched
Currently have $150 dollar discounts x 3 - Says they were available the 1st of the month, but have been there since December.
Going to loose them or not, and if so, when - what do I have to do to get them back?

Correct, because the program changes and the price plan you have to meet to qualify you for year upgrades go up. Unless you switch to a qualifying plan, you will not qualify June 4th 2010. You would have to call back in June and ask for an upgrade reset.

This is an odd scenario, you switched all 3 lines June 2010? If so, how are all 3 lines qualifying for full upgrade? Only your main line would. Did you buy your Evo on the street or at full price? It could also be a system error that shows you qualify on all 3 lines instead of just the main line, in this case there's a 50/50 chance the system will not kick your upgrade once they do the sweep April 1st.

Last year I used an upgrade on another line on my account. Purchased it from radio shack, activated on the other line then went home called sprint and had the evo activated on my line.think I could get away with this again? I really would like the new evo and give this one to my brother but need to use his upgrade since he is the primary for some reason and gets the yearly upgrade.

just a FYI. its available. and its 199 without any mail in rebate.. should be seeing it in a couple days.. i tried to order their kickstand case but she said they dont have it in stock yet. also.. for all those who said the extra 10 dollars isnt a 4g tax is wrong.. the rep said herself that there is a extra 10 fee because the phone is 4g. so there you have it..
It's a "premium data" charge now because many phones without 4g get charged it also.
Unless you're like me on SERO-P, then it IS a 4g charge.

Rep once told me that the fee was 'because the phone has a 1ghz processor and that makes it use more of the network'
With all due respect, if you believe a word these 'reps' say.... I don't know what to say to you.
As discussed a 10000000 times, it's not for 4g.
Period.
Go get a HTC Airrive and see if you get charged the fee.
You will. The end.
It really isn't a 4G tax, it's a smartphone tax. Go to the Sprint website and shop for a new plan using a 3G (not 4G) capable smartphone, and witness that the $10/mo premium data charge is still mandatory.
Edit: Whoa. Laaaaaaate.

Yah I'm also on sero P.. at first she was like " I see you are one our sero plan which is 40 dollars. This phone requires a 10 dollar 4g fee because the phone is a 4g capable device" but I told her i have the epic 4 g so I'm already paying it. What's funny is when I first connected with her, b4 I even ordered she said "I see your area doesn't have 4g. We are working on that". Lol.. hmmmm.

The 10 fee most definately started out as a 4g fee. You can tell me whatever you want.. its just because they could get 4g rolled out as quickly as they planned so they had to reevaluate the name of the fee.. and a lot of people were complaining of this. Here's a perfect example.. me and my girl both have sero.. she has a samsung moment I have an epic 4g and I pay 50 she pays 40.. all under my name.... both phones are android and use the same amount of data service.. difference? Mine is 4g

True, the change was recent.
my input on this fee...
its definitely a 4g fee in my book... no matter how many times they tell you the $10 is for something different. now they call it a "premium data fee" when in all actuality this "premium data" is only required for 4g devices... they both coincide, they are one lol.

When the fee first started sprint used the wording of this is for 4G but when people got outraged for having to pay for 4g and not have 4g sprint changed there toon. They just changed there story from 4g to how much the new 4g phones use data and this is what the 10$ charge was for. Then more people got mad so now they add it for all smartphones so they make more money and nobody can claim it was for 4g which in the start is what they told people. It is even in my notes on my account i was told that.

I'm a new Sprint customer. I'd much rather get a 4G smartphone since the charge applies to all smartphones. Also, I'd much rather Sprint does well, continues their unlimited data stance which is now unique, and doesn't get bought out by Verizon. So I'm fine with it as a necessary evil. No, I don't like hidden charges, but I'll have them for phone service anyway. Until someone (and Sprint seems to be the company with the most compatible marketing stance) decides to go the "everything is data" route and just charge one price for everything with no funny business, that's the landscape we have to traverse.

Maybe because the 14 day return policy doesn't take effect until the 16th? No idea.

trust me. im not complaining at all. im still paying almost half of what other carriers are charging for a comparable plan.. no complaints here. I just wish sprint would be more straightforward about their **** you know.. SERO is the only thing keeping me with sprint..right now. my buddy loves to rub his verizon 4g in my face.. and its fast..( hes a former sero plan holder as well so hes trying to get me to cross over to the V side )

and again it should be noted that 3G-only devices are also required to pay the premium data fee. what you are saying was valid last year but has since been changed.

yea now it is required for all smartphones but we all know this fee originated from the 4g data fee that was first required for 4g capable devices. im just pointing out sprint's shadyness recently... first the $10 fee fiasco... then the $350 etf, $8 tep, 14 day returns, new data cap, other fee increases and all that... seems like they are slowly following in at&t's footsteps lol. whats next sprint???
im also happy with my sero p but thats alot of changes sprint! due to fee changes and policy changes, my bill is almost twice as much as it was a year ago!
Is this topic really going to never end on XDA?
Seems like it's brought up every couple of weeks.
It's for all smartphones.
The reason for it in the beginning was because the Evo and Epic [the two original phones with it] were the most data intensive devices Sprint has ever sold up to that point.
You want unlimited data? Sprint has to charge more. [still cheaper than competitors]
I don't care what the reps have said from the beginning.
"It's for 4g"
"its because the phones have 1ghz processors"
"It's because the sky is blue"
It was never stated as a 4g fee.

This, now let's move on from this derailment of a thread. You want to talk about sprint fees, this isn't the right spot. You want to talk about the fact you can now buy the phone from telesales? OK.

Rollover data.

Just an FYI in case you all haven't heard, AT&T now has rollover data for those on a mobile share plan. You don't need to call or do anything, you're automatically enrolled. Cheers. ?
Awesome. I was waiting for them to do this.. Have a 30GB and this month my mom has been raping it without lube watching her soap operas. I should have never taught her well. Previous months I had like 15GB's left. Sigh...
They only roll it over for a month

AT&T used to have minutes roll over for a year. I remember having an insane amount of them.

Right, but data is quite different. I knew there would be people still complaining, naturally.

Your comment wasn't rude, it was the truth. T-Mobile announced data roll over recently, except theirs will not expire for a year. With AT&T, this month's data will expire at the end of next month without the ability to roll over further. This is clearly a PR response to T-Mobile's announcement to say "ooo me too!".
It's a step in the right direction and I am quite happy about it.

I'd rather have one month of rollover on a network that is reliable and doesn't throttle than have unlimited rollover on a piss poor network.
(Att employee here) I'll just clear up anyone's misconceptions, starting with tmobile claims, you need to have the simple select plans to be eligible for roll over data, these are line specific data plans meaning data is not shared, Jan has 5 gigs and Joe has 5 gigs, if Joe uses 5 and Jan uses 1 on the next billing cycle Jan will have access to 9gigs while Joe has access to 5 still, each line can only hold 10 gigs of data at a time. Now in comparison att uses roll over data with all MSVP (mobile share value plans). For instance, I am on the 30gig plan so, this month my family and I use 15, next month I'll have my full 30 for us to share plus another 15 to share after we use the 30. There is no cap on how much can roll over nor do you need to make any plan changes to get this feature. It is also available on all new and existing MSVP for customers.
I also work for AT&T as well. It's not too bad anyway since I can't imagine having a horde of crazy data lie many of us had with rollover.

Meh. I can see a slight reason to complain... After all, T-Mobile is doing data rollover for an entire year. If they can, why not AT&T?
Money of course...
Secondly, the OP feels that people aren't entitled for feel some type of way with THEIR money. Keyword: THEIR
AT&T employee here as well. Sounds like T-Mobile's offer has too many ifs, ands, or buts. Again, I'd rather have it on AT&T's network.

Wouldn't a congested network be another reason? We'd end up getting piss poor speeds

Yup that's why when faster speeds rolled around and wide acceptance of mobile devices came about unlimited data went by the wayside
It's only rollover for 1 month Sh**t. The third month will reset back to normal and go on. IT'S NOT KEEP ADDING UP.
So like 1 and 2. 3 and 4, 5 and 6....

No..... you have your normal data plan still that you pull from whatever portion of that you don't use rolls over to the third month but the first month will expire after the second month

So ex: 15Gb use 10. 5 left add to 15 =20gb for 2nd month, use 10 10 left add to 3rd month = 25GB. Use 7 and 18 left add to 4th month = 33GB?????
there some expires that I missed probably
