Chapters of this tutorial:
[1]Formatting SD card
[2]Installing Froyo X red
[3]Installing Camera
[4]Finishing up
Downloads
1 Froyo X Red
2 kernel+libs
3 Haret+Startup.txt-Ts-Calibration
4 If having problems with booting android try this startup.txt
[1]Formatting SD card
Easy as pie.
put your memory card in a sd card reader (your blackstone will do fine) and plug it in your pc/laptop.
open My pc and look for your memory card and right click on it.
Click Format
make sure FAT32 is selected and click ok
Ok great Sd card is formatted and ready to go. no lets move on..
[2]Installing froyo X Red /B]
ok first things first download Froyo X Red and Haret+Startup.txt-Ts-Calibration.
Then unpack Froyo X Red to the root of your memory card(root means on your memory card not in an folder on your memory card)
Then open up Haret+Startup.txt-Ts-Calibration and copy all the files to the root of your memory card.
Now unmount your Blackstone or Sd card reader from your pc.Put the Sd card in your blackstone(if it isnt already there) navigate to your storage card and open the file Haret
Now it shoud just give you a bunch of text and a little linux penguin let it load for a while(note: It coud take some minutes so dont think it wont boot)
it shoud boot. now follow the set-up and sync your google account.then turn off your blackstone and reboot it.so it boots in windows mobile again.when its in windows mobile go to the next step!
[3]Installing Camera
so android working accordingly everything set up but still no camera..
its time to change that
download kernel+libs
simply unpack the zip to your memory card..
overwrite zImage
thats that your done. enjoy android with working camera!
[4]Finishing up
this isnt really a neccesary step but I do recommend it.
open up spare parts and set the Window animation and Transition animation to Fast
and your done! have fun with your brand new Android phone..
dont forget to check this thread for updates!
MOD EDIT: Download Links removed!

+1
good idea
thx

they work fine for me?

HI
when i´m going to installing update, copy Haret and Startup but after that i cant execute de haret....tell " not fidedigne....re-install"
what doing wrong?
EDIT: re-formatting and done.....thks
let see ......MMS works ?

ok, i have a little question here: since the sd card needs to be formatted, i want to be prepared. the last time i tried android on the blackstone, was in december with an older froyo version and had a few issues:
since it goes in the root of the sd card and comes with a lot of folders and files, it really messed up my sd card structure, which i need for winmo, i want to continue using both os. is it possible to partition the sd card to split up android from winmo?
say, i'd split up 2gb as a primary partition for android and another 6gb for music and videos... so that in case i need to format the sd card again for newer android builds, i only need to format one partition?
also, does winmo recognize this as 2 sd cards, so i can still run AutoInstall, 2577 and other stuff from either partition? (assuming that android will be the first partition, winmo needs access to the 2nd partition)
edit: never mind, figured it out. due to the fact that windows only recognized the first logical or primary partition of an sd card as a drive, you can assign a drive letter to, it all became much too complicated, since i would have needed constant access to both partitions. therefor, i copied haret and all the android stuff in the folder "andboot" on the sd card and run it from there without messing up too much of my existing structure. also, this release is so stable, i probably won't encounter the same issues as before and don't need to fear major hangups and hard resets.

SDHC for Artemis WM6 CAB

As many posts already speak about that. Here are the .cab that work (P3300, ARTEMIS, with WM6)
MOST IMPORTANT is to format your actual SD card and future SDHC card with fat32 ! (backup data before)
DONT NEED TO FORMAT IF YOUR CARD IS ALREADY FORMATED WITH THIS FILE FORMAT.
You can then use any fat32 card you want after SDHC upgrade.
WM5torage 1.78b is working fine but slow for me after SDHC upgrade. Tell us if it run for you too.
Artemis running WM5 could be flashed too, with Certification .cab (.xml inside). I will post a link as soon as possible.
ANSWER!! Yes WM5torage is very slow, as it is not working as usual. Don't know if the creator of this program gonna upgrade it for SDHC use. This software is not so important for the use of your SDHC Card, that was just to say that it could work (very slow) with new SDHC drivers.
[WARNING] There was some problems after this install. Tell me if you got problems using this .cab --> SDHC_Artemis_back2original.cab are the original OMAP850.dll, SDBus.dll, SDMemory.dll for Artemis, so you can load it at any time to go back to your original settings without SDHC support.
[WARNING] there is a problem if you plan to flash with SDHC card inserted on your device. With USB wire too. Remove your SDHC card before flashing or hard resetting your device.
I m the first one to get it.
I've got it
Thanks
Now waiting for the 6Gb

6 Gb Sandisk Micro Sdhc, Htc P3300, Original Wm6
IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just bought the phone upgraded the ROM with original HTC WM6 ROM. Used the file as above. Pluged in my Micro SD and it works!!!!!!!
I had phoned HTC support for help as I bough the 6GB SDHC card when i bought the phone but couldnt get it to work, but was then told it doesnt support SDHC!
BUT IT DOES NOW!!!!
finally 4GB working on my P3300 WM6 (original HTC rom)
hoooooowever, the transfer through wm5torage is veeeeeeeeeeeeeeery slow!
sais 2h. for 1GB thats way off normal. wasn't that slow with my 2GB card (didn't try the 2GB card with new driver tho)
anyways, when i got everything on my new 4GB card, i am gonna do some benchmarks, try the card from the phone itself... and if it's just the USB transfer that is hella slow... i can take that.
btw, when i saw wm5torage 178beta so slow i tried 175. it works, but same slow speed
Thats a slow speed indeed. I have been copying files to fill my 6gb card since 6.45 just after my last post above. Its is now 7.40 and i have copied 1.7 GB.
Thats 1.7 gb an hour. Not a fantastic speed.
Im connected to a USB 2.0 port on my PC using Active Sync 4.5, connected directly to my P3300 (no cradle).
I didnt run all the files above though. All i ran was the first file SDHC_Artemic.cab
I didnt run the WM5torage file. Should i have?
Regardless it is working fine so far with out.

if you're used to transfer via active sync, you're perfectly fine.
wm5torage is just a program to convert your phone+sd card into some sort of "usb memory stick" so you can access your phones sd card on every computer without drivers.
merci bq
gguyaz
merci encore pour ce cab... ca reglera l'un des plus gros soucis de l'artemis

This great thanks for the file.
One question - If my current SD card is already fat32 do I need to reformat it and then install the patch or can I just install the patch and upgrade the SD card to an SDHC card later?
Thanks
Rich
First cab?
I can't download the first can file?
I get redirected to the login screen.
But i'm already login
ok, USB transfer was slow, but worked. gonna see next days how syncing goes.
so, this worked great... except on my p3300 the GPS stopped working. u think there is something in this cab patch that could have affected that somehow?

First of all, Hi. I am new to this fourm and found it very helpful. Anyway, I can confirm that this works for my "O2 XDA Orbit" with 6GB card (FAT32 formatting), it has windows mobile 6 and the ROM version is "3.4.206.2 WWE". I have checked my GPS and Wireless adapter, they both seem to be working fine aswell.
Just to mention the WM5Storage, even before the patch, it was very slow for moving information in and out of the PDA. So I think that it needs an update for WM6 although I haven't yet tried the version that is attached in the very first post becuase alot of people are complaining about it so I didn't even bother, I just used the card reader that came with my card.
Thanks gguyaz for your excellent work.
My Window mobile 6 is official one from o2 itself. Hope it helps

Linux on HTC Artemis

Hi Windows users,
I just upload a Linux version for people who want to test. Lot of thing are still missing but it is a start.
http://linuxtogo.org/~htcpxa/htcartemis/qtopia/
To install this, simply copy both file on root folder of your sdcard ( you need at least 200MB free after copy)
At the moment you can find a list of what is working here http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/Artemis
I try to maintain this list up to date.
Roller and trackball does not work in Qtopia, i need few developement for this environment.
Also a Comm Manger is missing, i ll try to do one to activate GPS / BT
Notice that actually this works fine on HTC P3300, i did not have any report for other Artemis devices.
As this devices run WM5 or WM6, all data are backup on flash, and linux is just running on SD. For more information please see thread for "linux on Blueangel" or "Linux on Universal"
Update 28 May 2008 , some screenshot

1 Froyo X Red http://www.multiupload.com/16UTFCYLTA
2 kernel+libs http://www.multiupload.com/YGVM8VELPV
3 Haret+Startup.txt-Ts-Calibration http://www.multiupload.com/33Z52W8L14
4 If having problems with booting android try this startup.txt
[1]Formatting SD card
Easy as pie.
put your memory card in a sd card reader (your blackstone will do fine) and plug it in your pc/laptop.
open My pc and look for your memory card and right click on it.
Click Format
http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/3646/16774455.png
Ts-calib for Blackstone. Rmove extension and put it in your andboot folder.
You will also need the "lib_camera" folder in the root of your SD-Card for camera to function. This is missing in this ROM distribution, but you can find the link for it in the first post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883966
Is this FroyoX build of yours still based on the Huawei U8150 from Neopeek? Just wondering of curiosity.
Hello,
I just tried with the 3 different camera modules, and with and without oc.
I used calibration from this thread and also from an older install of mine.
Find attached my STARTUP.txt.
I always have the same result.
Haret Booting OK
Passing Boot animation OK
Unlock SIM card OK
Then during the setup process, after clicking on the droid, it freezes and the image stay put, I can not do anything but soft reset. It does it at different stages: Time setup, or google account setup, or location setup...
If there is a way I can give you more information about what's going on please ask.
Cheers,
ok for those who are having crashes from setup screen: THIS IS WHAT WORKED FOR ME ON MY BLACKSTONE AND MY WORK WITH OTHER DEVICES!!
OPTION (1)
1) WHEN YOU REACH SETUP SCREEN REMOVE SIM CARD ONLY.....NOT BATTERY!
2) NOW CARRY ON WITH SETUP SCREEN AND SKIP EVERYTHING IT MAY FREEZE FOR 5SEC OR SO JUST WAIT!
3) NOW YOUR AT HOME SCREEN NAVIGATE TO (SETTINGS, WIRELESS & NETWORKS, MOBILE NETWORKS, ACCESS POINT NAME.......CHOOSE YOUR PROVIDER!
4) NOW THAT YOU HAVE PROVIDER AND IT HAS A GREEN DOT TO THE RIGHT OF IT YOU NEED TO POWER OFF YOUR DEVICE!
5) REPLACE YOUR SIM CARD AND POWER UP IN WM AND THEN RUN HARET AND YOU SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO WITH NO FREEZING IF YOU HAVE THE 3G ICON SHOW IN YOUR STATUS BAR AT THE TOP!!
OPTION (2)
THIS REQUIRES SPEED BUT WILL WORK BUT YOU HAVE TO BE FAST YOU MAY HAVE TO REBOOT LEAST 3 TIME BECAUSE IT MAY FREEZE!
BOOT HARET WHEN YOU REACH SETUP SCREEN THIS TIME LEAVE SIM CARD IN BUT TRY TO SKIP EVERYTHING AS QUICK AS U CAN, TO GET TO HOME SCREEN, IF YOU MANAGE TO GET TO HOME SCREEN THATS THE SETUP PROCESS DONE, IF YOUR PHONE FREEZES RESTART IT AGAIN YOU SHOULD BE AT HOME SCREEN THIS TIME, YOU NEED TO GO TO (SETTINGS, WIRELESS & NETWORKS, MOBILE NETWORKS, ACCESS POINT NAME.......CHOOSE YOUR PROVIDER THEN GO BACK 1 THEN GO TO NETWORK OPERATORS AND SELECT AUTOMATICALLY IT WILL SEARCH THEN AFTER 10 SECONDS FREEZE...........REBOOT AND YOU SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO! (NOTE YOU SHOULD DO THIS QUICKLY FROM WHEN YOUR HOME SHOWS HOME SCREEN BECAUSE IT WILL FREEZE WITHIN 40 SECONDS)
i know it alot of messing around but its worth it,........if you want to try this build out because its fast fast fast!!!!!
hope it works for you all
These issues are been delt with ive been told in the nxt update............no camera working at the moment
Thank you, that helped.
Now testing other functionalities.
I changed end button mapping to "back home" as it seems it had same mapping as power button initialiy. I also put animations and transitions to fast.
I synchronized my google account and gmail/contacts/agenda are fine.
I'll keep you up to date. But, so far, this is definitely the best versions I ever tested. It is amazingly fast!
This is awesome work!
UPDATE1:
- Wifi : not OK.
This is a shame because as I do not have data plan, it means I can not download apps from the market without wifi, and I would really like to download some apps. I would really appreciate a fix!
- Gallery: OK
- SMS receive and send: OK
- Camera: Not OK
- Music Player: Partially OK because there audio stuttering (note: is this applicable to this version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905085&page=4)
Update2:
-Wifi is OK (just has to change zImage and modules)
- Market: OK (download apps included)
Update3:
- Screen orientation OK
- Talk OK
So far no freeze or sluggishness. Amazingly fast.
Everything works perfect! Even the live wallpapers are working! Thanks to the developers...
Wow! Can confirm this is a lightning fast version!
Especially WIFI I've never seen so fast on FROYO build, could not believe my eyes, much appreciated!
(note: for some reason added modules and zkernel could not get WIFI to work, tried several things, but in the end changed to latest kernel (1253) and got amazing results!)
Camera would be nice, could you also check if "sound stuttering" is fixed in next build?
(as you probably already know, VirusCrazy managed to disable battery polling during sound playback in test kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883966)
Final note: keymapping is still wrong for blackstone, power button can be mapped to home, with long press to latest programs, see also http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936601
All in all, great start, can't wait to see next steps!
Cheers,
Robbert

I will keep you up to date with the result after this week end. Today is not really a typical day because I rebooted a lot, changed versions this morning.

Android on HTC Touch Pro Problem

Hi,
I want to install Android on my HTC Touch Pro and I want to also do that Dual Boot program. Problem is that I can't get android to work.
I downloaded Android, and it is not installing well. After I boot, the top bar of the Android comes, but it seems all grainy, and my mobile restarts :/ I tried changing to a different RAPH startup.txt, but it just crashes in the middle -.-
Pics: (sorry, they are HUGE)

Any ideas anybody?!
Don't try changing to a different startup.txt! Make sure you're using the right file for your phone model. You could also try simply redownloading XDANDROID.
Which RAPH do you have?
Perhaps you need to read the FAQ.
Also, 1) don't take huge pics and post them to a thread - resize them and provide links if anything, although the pics seem useless TBH. 2) post in the build thread, don't create a new thread. Thanks.
@Ben_duder
I downloaded so many lol
@arrrgh
Thanks for that FAQ page, I know I have a RAPH100 now
1. Didn't notice how big they were until I posted them
2. Link to thread pls
Thanks for the help till now every1
EDIT: My download doesn't have RAPH100, but RAPH, RAPH500 and RAPH800 -.-
Is RAPH equivilant to RAPH100?
EDIT2: Ok, so i finally got a RAPH100 one, and it was installing. The last message was 'mp_dma : busy'
It kept on going after a bit, until screen calibration, i didn't even have the time to calibrate, as it kept on going.
Only to get 'stuck' on mp_dma : busy...again
Whilst writing this, it started again....only to get 'stuck'.....AGAIN...on mp_dma : busy....AGAIN!!
Is it normally like that? Does this site have live shat or smthn? Or can some1 PM their MSN/Skype so I can have 'live help' lol
Yes, it is "normal". What shouldn't be normal is the fact that you can't find the RAPH100 startup in the full bundle from THIS thread(for FroYo) or THIS thread (for Gingerbread). Keep in mind, FroYo is more complete and Gingerbread is still in alpha stages even though it seems more "stable" than FroYo.
Additionally, if you just want to be able to boot, the magic number we are looking for is 10 minutes. However, if you aren't getting to the XDAndroid boot animation, this might mean you aren't doing something right. Also, you'll need to grab the ts-calibration file for your device from either thread and put it in the same folder as haret
Hmm, I seem to have got it to work. It look me around 10 minutes to complete It seems ok (I downloaded the new XDAndroid from the official Wiki page). All works fine, incl. camera and Wi-Fi.
Now, I want to do the dual Boot thing. I have the exe downloaded, but now its a new set of CAB and EXT files. I'm going to opt for what seemes to be the newer version (v 1.0.6.0) but when i extract that and open a the file, I get 5 new files
Gen.Y DualBOOT QVGA v1.0.6.0 - Storage Card.cab
Gen.Y DualBOOT VGA v1.0.6.0 - Internal Storage.cab
Gen.Y DualBOOT VGA v1.0.6.0 - Storage Card.cab
Gen.Y DualBOOT WQVGA v1.0.6.0 - Storage Card.cab
Gen.Y DualBOOT WVGA v1.0.6.0 - Storage Card.cab
no idea what to do next.
If you have a RAPH100 use Gen.Y DualBOOT VGA v1.0.6.0 - Storage Card.cab. If you have a DIAM100 use Gen.Y DualBOOT VGA v1.0.6.0 - Internal Storage.cab
NOTE/hint
One installs to internal storage/soldered microSD and the other installs to the storage card/microSD

Yeh i'll do that.
And I understood the Internal Storage and Storage card bit.
Also, I seem to get A LOT of lag when I play a game, is it normal? Probs coz the phone ain't too power full maybe
I did it, and it works well, it just tells me Android missing :S :S
Is haret in anything other than the root of the microSD? If not, it won't pick it up. There is a trick to get it to recognize the build in something other than the root of the microSD but you'll need to check in that thread where you got the dualboot program.
Yea the dualboot program is really a WinMo issue. You need to set the registry entry for it to work correctly.
But since it's not an Android or even an XDAndroid issue, I'd prefer you to post Gen.Y related questions in the correct section of the forum. Thanks.
@R^7Z
Haret is in Storage Card/bootand. And I forgot where I got the dualboot program though lol.
@arrrghhh
First of all, I'll thank you yest, as I'm restricted to 5 per day.
Also, link to where I can find this thread/section.
Thanks for all the help guys
In short if you want to use that program, you will need to visit the thread where you got the dualboot program from OR push everything up a level. In other words, cut and paste everything under the andboot folder to the root of the microSD and it should work like a charm, my friend!

What was the reason they told us to do an andboot folder then?
Well aside from "organization", not much else
I honestly only run one build because it is my preference to do so. Most who know what they are doing (or at least more than I do), use the rel_path=andboot option. "6 one way, half a dozen the other" is what I say.

Well, apart from the fact that I understood NOTHING from that previous post, I want to say that it worked like a charm I cut all the files in the andbooot file to the right place, and what do you know, it worked!
I have a tiny thing to ask you guys Its laggy, and I mean VERY laggy. When i play games, like Angry Birds and such, it jumps, makes it tedious and not really fun to use. I do understand that my phone wasn't built for Android, and that Android needs higher system specs then Win Mobile (it also lags a bit on Win Mobile LOL) but maybe there is a fix to that.
When I check phone settings, it says I'm running Android version 2.2.2, which I think is the latest version, so maybe going to a previous version will make it better. I'm ready to take a small downgrade, only if I will still be able to use all my stuff (3G, camera, wi-fi etc.) I'm hoping to make Android my permanent OS, but with it being this laggy, I'd rather not.
Any ideas

[Roboto 4.1+ICS] Did I really get Link2SD working or not ?

Hi,
I've just successfully installed Rom RobotoMod and I got it working. Thanks to devs for their impressive work.
I chose CM9 when installing, and for SD management, I chose Bulent Apkinar's Link2SD.
Besides, I have to say that i run RobotoMod installation through ClockWorkMod 6.0.0.7
I have a 16-Gb microSD card. I also partitionned it using the ClockWorkMod recovery features. Now I have a Ext3 ( 2 Gb) + Linux Swap (256 Mb) + Fat32 Data Partition (~13 Gb).
After launching and configurating everything, I ran link2sd, and it successfully detected the Ext3 partition, and created the mounting scripts.
I chose AutoLink in the features, then I went in my explorer (ES Explorer) and installed some Apks.
When I came back in Link2SD to see the memory usage, I noticed something : Though it seems Apk data goes to the Ext3 partition, some files (I suspect them to be the dex files) remains in the internal memory. Even if they don't weight that much (1 ~7 Mb) compared to the Apk Data themselves, it causes the internal memory to decrease slightly.
My point is, does Link2SD really behave this way ? Isn't there a way to move everything to the Ext3 partition ?
Sorry If my question sees to be silly, I just wanted to ask.
And sorry for the english mistakes, I am french.
Thanks in advance.
Link2sd uses a little memory in internal memory. No need to ne afraid.
Open link2sd. Select user applications from the funnel icon. Then click menu, then select the ones u want to move to ext. Then click create link. Tik link application file, link dalvic cache files and link library files. Press ok.
It's pretty basic stuff.

Thanks for the tip, but I already did that.
Fact is, I installed Link2SD first. Then I turned on the Auto-link feature.
Then I started installing all the others applications.
Well , lemme show you through pics (sorry they are in French, but I'll explain).
First of all, here is the current state of my SD Card (37 user-apps installed, all linked)
{

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Then, using a file explorer, I run two heavy apks. (Angry Birds and Angry Birds Space, for instance)
Back to Link2SD, you can see that those file seems to be linked do the SD card
Here are the details for one of the previously installed Apk
Now, here is the Info storage screen, just after installing those two Apps. It seems they were installed in Internal memory...Strange, huh ?
But, one interesting thing. If i reboot the phone, back to the info storage screen of Link2SD, I got something direct:
Well, my conclusion is that files are properly linked, but the system takes it into account only after restarting the phone.
Weird...
Any thoughts ?

This is perfectly normal behaviour for Link2SD. It fools the phone into thinking the apps are installed on the internal memory. It is rather like a shortcut in Windows-speak.

Yeah thats true, I once post about this problem. But no one replied anyways, it gives me low memory notification everytime.
So I switched to data2sd again. But Link2sd is faster than data2sd. U dont need to restart, just click menu->multiselect->selectall->actions->createlink->tik all->Ok. It will relink and re calculate free memory.
As tigger suggested I also think the auto link feature should be disabled. Its faster.
See my screenshots.
before & after createlink
and by the way cm9 is not good at games and video play back, also consumes lots of battery and no fm radio. and I cant live a day without radio.
Okay, I think the problem's solved now. Thanks all for the answers.
@finance.restat: Wait, are you running Gran Theft Auto on a Wildfire S ? :highfive:
What version is it ?
It's GTA III 10 year anniversary version 1.0.
Data file has to be downloaded from software and then from xda for smoother playback. Check in apps section u'll see the post. May be few pages behind.
Only dust and cake kernels can play it.
