Micro USB - Atrix 4G Accessories

I need a longer micro USB to USB Cable (about 6' to replace the one that came with it). Can I just get any cable or will the quality effect the battery life/phone life?

I got 3 cables on ebay for a buck each. They seem to work fine.

i just used a usb extension cable, but any cable should be fine its the power plug part thats important so it sends the right amount of power to the phone

I believe Monoprice.com you can get 10ft. Cables for around $3.00. I have not bought any in awhile still using the one's I bought last time.

I second the monoprice.com for all cables.

I'm just using my PS3 cable for the house and my regular one for the car. Seems to work fine for me.

I'm using the cord that came with my Kindle and it works fine.

I think the USB spec allows for five meters (+15') on cables before it needs a hub, so you certainly should be able to get a longer one.
Be aware that some of the cheap cables are junk. Some are data-only, some are power-only, some are just defective or terribly stiff.

Monoprice.....might as well stock up on some super long hdmi cables while you are there.

thank you for the direct link.

And you don't need the gold plated ferret one. I bought both, and the cheap one with 10ft length works both with motorola charger and when connecting to my laptop.

i thought the atrix used a mini-usb cable? still waiting for mine and was thinking about getting a cable too.

...? The PS3 controllers use mini-usb. How are you using them for your Atrix? The Atrix uses micro-usb.

Almost bought one, the good thing is you don't need a micro hdmi cable, it uses a standard hdmi cable.

Nice, from the photos it looked like the HDMI cable it comes with was a normal HDMI one rather than a mini or micro (or whatever they're called, type D or something).
I got mine. Yes it uses standard hdmi. I love it.
I don't see what this would get you over a micro hdmi cable from

I got one Friday and am having sound issues.
If I attach my phone to the dock, I am unable to hear any sounds after disconnecting it. It affects both the speaker and Bluetooth sound.
The only way I have found to get the sound back is to shut it off and on again.
I am not sure if it is app related, but I suspect not.

yes the hdmi cable included is standard.
I picked one up yesterday. I like the construction. It feels sturdy unlike the parts you buy shipped from China on ebay. The phone fits nicely.
The price is a bit much (it should be only $20), but I guess because you get that cable it makes it worth it.
Does it put the phone in dock mode when plugged in?

mini-usb to micro-usb converter

Has anyone bought a cheap mini-usb to micro-usb converter online that works?
My old phone uses mini-usb and I have a cable and charger I would like to use for my arc. I bought a converter on ebay but the micro-usb part is too short so I'm not able to charge my arc.
Any input would be much appeciated!
Yeah, bought two from e-bay @ 1£ each. I had 2 mini-usb wall-chargers left over that I wanted to use. Charging is OK and using the adapter with a mini-usb cable to connect to the computer works fine.

Can you use a micro hdmi cable?

I know you can buy the mhl adaptor but i recently purchased a generic adaptor and it has been losing signal several times, i heard it's a common issue for generics. So i want to see if a micro hdmi cable will work, and if doesnt work, can anyone recommend me some good mhl adaptor that's pretty cheap

Micro HDMI is just a tiny HDMI snapped the same pretty much needs an actual port. Mhl is the only way it works for yhe sgs2

I know there's two hdmi cables for phones, there's a micro hdmi and a mini hdmi but since the s2 uses a micro usb port, then the micro hdmi should work right?
Well, I just received my micro hdmi for my SGSII and it is not working. I connected it to my TV and laptop and it is a fail. Tried to go the cheaper route but am gonna end up spending more in the long run because now I have a micro hdmi that is useless to me
Thats the one I was thinking of the mini I have one and it doesn't fit haha it Wade for my g2x

You can only use the MHL adapter for HDMI output, Micro HDMI is a totally different port and everything.
completely unrelated but i was wondering why when using MHL on our phones, surround sound does not work. im guessing its hdmi 1 format?
I read a few comments regarding some mhl adaptors. Some say plug the power source first then the tv then the phone. And others say you may need to change the HDMI cable. Just try different combinations and try a different tv.

thanks i will try that. it cant be the hdmi cable, because its the same one i use for xbox and i get surround sound from there.

Aftermarket Samsung Galaxy S3 MHL adapter

I noticed a lot of people are looking for a HDMI adapter but is boycotting Samsung's $40 adapter . I don't need an MHL adapter but for those looking for a cheaper alternative.

i want a cheap wireless one if you find any? i think that htc one runs also for s3:

Wow never heard of a wireless one before. I think that is a little over kill for me. I will stick to the wire one for now if anything. Thanks though.

I seriously doubt it will work, the connector is different for S2 (5 pins) and S3 (11 pins), so if it says it works for both...
Maybe the 11 pins also work for 5 pins, but not vice versa

Yes, there is an adapter that will go from the 11 pin micro-USB on the SGS3, to 5 pin micro-USB, so you can plug in the micro-USB from an "old" MHL adapter.

I got the adapter for $10 with free shipping:
http://www.amazon.com/Original-Sams...id=1343326078&sr=8-1&keywords=mhl+adapter+tip
It lets you connect your old MHL cable (or a $5 one from ebay) to a galaxy s3 and still work. I'm using it and it works perfect.
Even if you don't have an old cable, this is still the best deal since it's $5 for a 5-pin cable and $10 for the adapter.

This is damn smart. I might go this route. Functional and it save a couple bucks. Thanks
Sorry guys, new to this stuff. So let me see if I go this right. Does it go:
SGS3 >> MicroUSB-HDMI Cable >> HDTV Adapter Tip (http://www.amazon.com/Original-Samsung-Adapter-Converter-EPL-FU10BEBSTD/dp/B0083FYL0O/) >> TV?
found a S3 ONLY MHL cable.
So this likely means that's designed with the correct pins and it'll work

^ what he said. One of those, plus a usb cord extension wire and then a usb car charger would be your best solution.
I'm not sure how much power OTG uses, but anything with 2.1A output will charge (very slowly) while using navigation and data. The cable coupled with a 2.1A charger should do the job.
Hope this helps!

it is solidly built, has sturdy connectors, high quality COPPER wiring and is the highest quality USB OTG cable you can get. This is reflected in the fact it is also the highest rated OTG cable on Amazon
