maybe you could get an extension for one of these?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-USB-H...g-S2-i9100-S3-i9300-i9220-i9250-/121153413553

^ what he said. One of those, plus a usb cord extension wire and then a usb car charger would be your best solution.

I'm not sure how much power OTG uses, but anything with 2.1A output will charge (very slowly) while using navigation and data. The cable coupled with a 2.1A charger should do the job.
Hope this helps!

try it: T & S Electronics Micro USB OTG Cable
it is solidly built, has sturdy connectors, high quality COPPER wiring and is the highest quality USB OTG cable you can get. This is reflected in the fact it is also the highest rated OTG cable on Amazon

Micro USB

I need a longer micro USB to USB Cable (about 6' to replace the one that came with it). Can I just get any cable or will the quality effect the battery life/phone life?
I got 3 cables on ebay for a buck each. They seem to work fine.
i just used a usb extension cable, but any cable should be fine its the power plug part thats important so it sends the right amount of power to the phone
I believe Monoprice.com you can get 10ft. Cables for around $3.00. I have not bought any in awhile still using the one's I bought last time.

I second the monoprice.com for all cables.
I'm just using my PS3 cable for the house and my regular one for the car. Seems to work fine for me.
I'm using the cord that came with my Kindle and it works fine.

I think the USB spec allows for five meters (+15') on cables before it needs a hub, so you certainly should be able to get a longer one.
Be aware that some of the cheap cables are junk. Some are data-only, some are power-only, some are just defective or terribly stiff.
Monoprice.....might as well stock up on some super long hdmi cables while you are there.

MHL HDMI Adapter and USB OTG Simultatneously

Has anyone tried using a Micro USB OTG adapter and MHL HDMI adapter at the same time? Is it even possible?
Thinking of watching movies off of an external drive on my HDTV with the GN. I may just have to stream them from my computer over WiFi.
Cheers

Yeah! Is it possible?
I ordered all components yesterday to test this exact thing. I will report back with my findings. I ordered the mhl adapter, HDMI cable, and the otg cable. I already have a micro SD reader that's extremely small. Total cost was $30 on amazon.... I also ordered a wii sensor bar that was around 6 bis. I'm also going to attempt to integrate the otg cable in a case. Pics will follow

I think that isn't possible. Both MHL and USB OTG uses the same microusb port, but behind that there are different circuits. Depending on wich connector you plug in the hardware will know if you are connecting an usb or a HDMI.
More, the microusb on MHL connector is only for ac supply.

From what ive read, it is not possible. Youre disabling usb to get hdmi function through 4 wires. And that function needs power.

MHL and OTG
@justin94, please report back if you get it working. Actually, if you can get OTG to work at all with or without MHL let us know. I've gotten the MHL to work. But I need to connect some USB devices up, and from what I've read, the current Nexus stock firmware doesn't support OTG/Host.
Also, what OTG cable did you order? I've heard there are ones that don't work?
waiting for an answer.
Just got confirmation of shipment the mhl adapter and HDMI cable. No estimated deliver date as of yet. Have patience people.

NO NAO~! lol. j/k
MHL will only charge the phone via USB. You can't use USB data. Bluetooth is your only option for external hardware input (controllers, etc... but not thumb drives)
I don't want to rain on your parade, but I said it would charge your phone at the same time, but it's limited to 500ma. Nexus reports as USB charging, not AC charging. So if you intend to watch a long movie and game real hard via emulation and bluetooth, your phone will run out of battery.
Another poor design decision. They should have just put a HDMI port separately. MHL fail.
The only saving grace will be using the pogo pins to charge the phone via AC so you can get 1A charging while using MHL.
MHL fail.
Update!!!
Just received the mhl adapter and HDMI cable. Its plug and play, however, it does require power..... so my hopes of getting this to work are almost over..... except that I fairly good with electronics. So I'm going to do some splicing and dicing and see what works.
Don't worry, if it works I will post a full tutorial

(Q) Is There Such A Cable?

basically what I want is a OTG cable that splits off to a regular mini USB as well.
what I'm trying to do is be able to plug my phone into the charger and be able to plug In a ps3 controller into the note 2 as well.
I know I can do this wirelessly because I already do this. But what if I'm gonna charge my ps3 controller and my note 2 at the same time?
the only way I see you can do this is taking USB OTG cable and then connect that to a USB Male to male. Take the one male and connect that to usb to adapter that splits into 2 males. One of those males will go into the charger and the other will connect to a USB mini adapter and connect ps3 controller to the mini adapter.
Sounds very confusing but sure if it work between all that.
What would be easier if they had a micro USB splitter that splits into a USB adapter and a mini USB.

I don't think it will work, the dock achieves this, probably by informing the phone that it's a dock, but the adapters rely on shorting the ground wire to tell the phone it needs to become an usb host. I don't have empirical data but my electronics training tells me the power supply (charger) wouldn't love a short on it's grounding and wouldn't charge the phone...also when going into usb otg mode the phone supplies power, so the charger would see this as a short or an over current situation and not charge.

because both mouse and keyboard would be using through Bluetooth adapter. i already use the mouse and it works through the regular Samsung otg cable.
Can that just work off from the Note 2's Power Supply?
it can only power 1 device, and barely. it outputs around 300mA which is enough for a usb stick, a mouse, a keyboard, or a controller, but not for external hard drives nor other phones your usb hub would have to be powered our else you may suffer reliability and connection problems with your keyboard mouse and controller. basically if you pressed a button on all three the phone would lose them all momentarily

1 thing is that it's 100 dollars. second thing is basically I can't put in horizontal mode if I want to use a keyboard and mouse and browse the Internet I don't want to browse it straight up and down. not to mention if I want to play games as well if I'm using ps3 controller to charge it at the same time I can't do that. who wants to play games tilting their head to watch because of the fact that the phone is mounted vertically instead of horizontally.
I mean I don't understand why it so hard to find a micro USB to a dual USB adapters I mean that shouldn't be that hard to make haha. with that I can use a keyboard and mouse using Unifying receiver. and then the other USB adapter can go straight to the ps3 controller.
So it would be called micro usb male to dual usb female

here's what I don't understand if I take that USB hub connect it to the adapter that I have, and have the USB Bluetooth and keyboard bluetooth in there at the same time, I shouldn't have issues because if im browsing the internet I'm not going to be typing keys on the keyboard and moving the mouse at the same time. so in theory I can move the mouse around Lets say go to the address bar stop using the mouse and go to the keyboard and start typing on the keyboard. so basically I will only be using 1 port at a time. instead of moving the mouse and typing keys at the same time I won't be doing something like that just be ridiculous haha.
so can I use that Belkin USB 4 port and just basically use the two USB Bluetooth hooked up to it. so the port will be connected to the OTG cable. if this makes sense I'll connect the OTG cable to the hub and the 2 Bluetooth to the hub
because if I honestly wanted if I wanted to play video games like grand theft auto I can use the keyboard to type cheats and stuff. use the keyboard through the OTG cable. and connect my ps3 controller wirelessly.

wowowow, no, keyboard, mice and ps3 will only be afected if they are wiered or rf. bluetooth devices wont interfere with each other, you can have a ton of devices on bluetooth and not even need the usb otg... you dont need a buetooth adapter for this, phone, it comes with bluetooth, so any bluetooth item should work with the phone while it's charging without needing the usb otg cable at all. ps3 controllers are bluetooth by default. you dont need to plug them to the phone.

For the audio aspect, do these cables bypass the internal DAC like an OTG USB does on the TW roms allowing you to take advantage of an external DAC?

cables and plugs that are compatible with fast charging?

HI,
I've been trying out different cables and wall plugs with the S8+ to see which ones work with the wireless charger. The cable they provided doesn't reach from where I need the charger to be to the wall plug and I noticed that some longer cables (have one from Amazon that is 10' long) that constantly give the warning that it's slow charging.
Are there specific cables, wall plugs that I should be on the lookout for to buy (especially longer cables) that are rated for fast charging that will work with the S8+?
thanks in advance.

could you provide a link to the cables you're using so I get the correct ones?
Also, are these the USB to Micro-USB cables or USB to USB-C cables? I ask because to use the wireless charger, the connector TO the charger is a microUSB connection. Which makes no sense, but there you are. If it's the USB to USB-C then I will have to use it without the wireless charger which is what I'm trying to use for charging.
thank you
