looking for cheap desk stand - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Accessories

im looking for a desk stand for my archos 70 8gb.anyone know of one?
Sent from my ZTE Blade

This one is $17 plus shipping. Works very well.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VFALEQ

might look at the breffo spiderpodium. i have the regular one for my archos 32 and i'm quite happy with it.
not sure if mine would be enough to hold a 70, but they also make a larger version for tablets, though it obviously costs more (25 GBP, vs. 15 for the little one)
bah, can't post links yet. just google spiderpodium. it's the first result.

ipod and Orbit (case/covers)

Just thought I would a point of interest. The fact that the 5th gen ipod and the xda orbit share a very similar shape and size. Why is that important? well if you are prone to crazy thoughts of going for a run or bike ride then the two can both utilise the same case/holders (just).
I have a nice sports arm strap for my ipod (out running etc) and now find it is perfect for my Orbit too.
On the 'case' subject, just got this leather case and it is a perfect item - can recommend.

I know, I stumbled over it by accident and like you say the price! plus the quality screen protector that normally sells for 10 euros alone.
It is very well made item, makes the Orbit for me.
Well I was thinking of investing in one of these kits - anyone any experience of the products within?

Hi,
I have the vertical flip case and their cradle. Both good quality and do the job.
I am changing my case to one of these

but that is purely a personal choice rather than because the case of poor quality.

Tripod?

With such good video, I'm really keen to get a tripod, or at least a tripod adapter.
Can anyone recommend something? I realize an 'official' tripod is probably not on the cards, but maybe a 'generic' model you can recommend?
Thank you!
http://joby.com/gorillamobile/original/
That's exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much!
Is that confirmed working? I ask because to me the textured back on the SGSII seems like it would be a problem for a suction cup.
Anybody got a tripod solution that is working? I really need an accessory for this, and all the ones I see on Ebay and similar only work to the width of 62mm.
I know I'm pimping it everywhere at the moment, but I'm really impressed with my Breffo SpiderPodium. Would work quite well as a tripod, I'd have thought,
Thanks, to be honest I was looking at it for just that purpose last night... hmmn, could be doable.
Unfortunately the Joby model is not avail in the UK - and buying it from the US would be a 12 quid shipping fee... on something that already cost 25 quids.
So I'm back to square one...
I need this aswell, but still couldn't find a good one. If I want to buy the joby, which one should I buy? I've only seen those for iPhone. Seen the universal, but I don't think we can use it for SGS II.

It is available from various places, John Lewis being one. However, the cheapest I could find is £25 from the below link.

Sadly, no, they have various models, and this is the SLR model. The model for the SGS2 would be the mobile one with the suction cup and the two adhesive pads. While you can get a gorilla pod in the UK (amazon), the mobile kit doesn't seem to be available.
Hi everyone - I finally found that Joby Mobile in the UK. cost was only 11.99 inc delivery. I must say I took a gamble, because the site doesn't look very professional - it's http://www.7dayshop.com.
But they charged my card correctly and I received the tripod within the week, so all is well than ends well
Now the question is 'does it work' and the answer is a resounding 'yes!'. The suction cup takes time to get accustomed to but once you get the hang of it works perfectly. I'm using a rubber phone cover, so I guess this helps. If you don't have any luck with the suction cup, it also comes with adhesive pads (non marking) and finally it also comes with the standard camera attachment so you don't have to carry two tripods.
I must say for 11.99 I'm very pleased!
thanks for sharing your experience.. might get one as well

DealExtreme Aluminum Alloy Touchpad Stylus Review

Just received the two styluses’ that I ordered from Deal Extreme on July 16 and I have to say that I am very impressed with them for the price that I paid. Being only $2.40 each I decided to order 2 of them setting me back only $4.80 total with free shipping and no tax. The shipping however took exactly 2 weeks since it was shipped from Japan so if you need it in a hurry your out of luck.
Each stylus is packaged in cheap plastic with a cardboard backing that says for iPhone/iPod touch, etc.
Now the stylus itself has a solid black aluminum body with a chrome clip and chrome right above the rubber stylus part of the pen. The aluminum body feels sturdy and is just a tad bit thicker than your average pencil. I have never owned a capacitive stylus but the rubber end on this one seems to be fine with no quality issues that I can tell. It also hasn’t scratched my device which is important. As far as overall build quality goes, the only part that feels cheap is the clip that has a fake/plastic chrome look to it. The clip has worked fine for me so far when attaching it to my SGT case.
As far as performance goes, it does take a little bit of getting used to, but I’m assuming any stylus for these screens would be the same way. All the touches have registered with great accuracy from what I can tell. I was having some trouble with using Swype but I think that’s because it was on my Moto Droid. It was registering a lot better on my SGT then my Moto Droid. I do have an XO Screen protector on my SGT and it is working perfectly with this stylus as well if anyone was wondering.
Overall though, for the price, you can’t beat it! I got 2 of them for under $5 and am extremely happy with this purchase. This is my first review but I thought I would help anyone that was looking for a stylus. Feel free to ask me any questions and I will do my best to answer them.

That's certainly a good deal. I went ahead and ordered one.
3 bucks, why not
I bought the same one at Walmart under the brand of targus for $14. That tells you how much they overprice everything and you're basically paying for the brand :-(
Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA Premium App
When I was at best buy they tried selling me a Targus one as well, bet its the same one as Wal-Mart
I picked up the targus stylus at walmart. It doesn't seem to be very sensitive. You have to press the tip down and compress it quite a bit for it to make a reliable input. It's horrible for drawing. My finger works 5 times better. Are all capacitive styluses like this?
Did you opt for the paid package tracking when you ordered?
My stylus seems to work fine as long as I'm not charging. Odd.

Nope and I anxiously waited 2 weeks
how do thee styluses perform for hand writing?
anyone know?
Ordered a pair on the 3rd of July, I opted for the mail tracking for an extra $2 bucks. The tracking directs me to some Hong Kong Post website saying my order is still being processed for departure? I guess this is Hong Kong's version of the USPS tracking process. I don't know how good it is once it leaves Hong Kong and into the states? I wonder if the tracking # will still be good once in the states, USPS? Don't have as clue to look? I don't think I will ever order anything out of country again?

You should usually be able to use the same tracking number on usps.com as soon as it gets in their system, or at least that's how it works with China Post.
Thanks I'll keep everyone updated.
That same stylus is available for $1.78, in different colors, at Priceangels
http://www.priceangels.com/Search_Result_t.html?advancedSearch=true&searchname=4.5-inch+stylus
I have ordered from them before. Got the items delivered fine. Pretty much works like Dealextreme, except IMO it has a better design.
I have been ordering quite a bit from dealextreme.com.
So far so lost packages or defect goods, just have to wait patiently for it to arrive.
Located in Singapore though, and I think it ships from Hong Kong.
Wait time is usually 2-3 weeks from time of order.
Performance is going to be more based on the app than the stylus itself. I found navigating and typing to be fine with a stylus, but the drawing apps and lacking....for now.
I got mine yesterday and I've been playing with it a bit. It works *okay*. It's definitely not as useful as I had hoped it would be. It only works about 75-80% of the time - some touches receive no response. It seems to be pretty sensitive, if you touch it at the wrong angle or press too hard or too soft, it doesn't work. Drawing is impractical. Hand-writing notes (which I was hoping for) is not really practical due to the thick rubber end on the stylus.

Stilgut ultra slim case

Hey guys
Has anybody got the case below?
Any thoughts on it?
Is it worth the 45 quid?

I bought a case just like this one and I'm really happy with it . Only difference? I got mine for less then one third of the price (it is a no-brand... but it looks the same as the pictures in your link and it's really great).
For more info, look at the thread talking about the one I got (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1338546). Also, if you wish to check pictures/price here's an ebay link where I bought it from (http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270831391457&ssPageNam e=ADME:L:OC:AU:1123).
[Edit] Just spotted a difference on the pictures (at least I believe it is). The case you posted has leather on the "inside" of the case too, whereas my case has... dunno, something else . I'm guessing the all leathery look would be nicer, but that's the difference between a no-brand and a branded name I guess.
The best part about this case is that you can actually keep your Tab in it all the time, even when you want to use the camera or charge the device. This is very important to me as I carry it around all the time and my little brother and sister use my Tab from time to time, and of course they aren't as careful with it as I am. Having it in a case all the time definitely helps me relax when I see them handling my precious device

Check the forums, this same case is sold under many different names, so several people have started threads. II got it for $15 american (and they refunded that after I left a good review). Best case for the tab, but 45 quid (@$70) is insanely overpriced.
I have it. But as sad before you can have it for less money.
I've had mine about a month now,
Ok it's not the cheapest but considering what it's protecting is ten times the value of the case it's worth it. It's not the first case I've used but it's the best so far, well made, solid and sturdy.
The different angle positions are very useful.
As mentioned before it's not the cheapest but neither is my tab, so to me it's worth the extra few quid.
Hope this helps.
get the clip case from pyro skins, it's just the same one but much cheaper...
I got the one from Amazon branded Moko, but looks the same. Paid $18 US for it, and I absolutely love it.

iOttie Easy Flex Wireless Qi Car Mount

Looks like iOttie is taking reservations for their Qi car mount. Spoiler alert: It's $80.
http://www.iottie.com/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=1058&ProductType=321
I was hoping for a $40-50 price point. So, yeah, I'm a little disappointed.
Yeah $80 is way too high especially when you can get more "Premium" Chinese Qi Car docks for about $45. I figured the price was going to be more than we requested when the "Rep" that had the iOttie post suddenly went silent. $50 was just the high end of Purchasable range. $80 is high even if there were NO other options on the market. Heck the OwlPad sold for LESS than that much when it came out...over a year ago. So yeah makes me feel the company is trying to fleece the N5 owners.
Hey guys,
We did not go quiet on the postings - we were just advised from XDA moderators that that kind of posting is not permitted within the forums.
We do appreciate the constructive feedback with regards to our product & pricing. We will pass that information onto our management team for more detailed review.
I would buy it for around $40-50 but definitely not at $80.
80? This is why I've refused to buy the tylt vu. I have zero problem shelling out cash for accessories but that's ridiculous.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
80? Probably cost 15 to make at those quantities. I'll pass, thanks.
the air dock is better than this, and it costs less at $69, but even that's still way too expensive for this kind of thing. $80 is just ridiculous.
We are actually giving away a Nexus 5 and some Easy Flex Wireless mounts on Facebook today - be sure to check it out.
Also, the price you guys see is MSRP - but the MAP price that it will be sold at on Amazon and other resellers is $69.95.

$70 with that 20% off offering that you all are sharing via Facebook if you sign up for the contest is pretty solid considering how much everyone likes the car mounts.

yeah the retail price isn't what it'll be on amazon. Funny I wrote in to them when I first got my nexus 5 asking if they were making one. Glad to see they did.
I'm curious on final price. Been using their mounts for awhile and find it pretty good.
I do have 2 of the indiegogo airdocks coming though. Which in the end is a better solution if it works.
Looks nice to me, I'd be all over it.

The contest says it ends the 47th of April? I tried to enter but apparently it's closed already.
Curious, I see that people are upset at spending $80 for a modern and functional mount that also wirelessly charges your phone. I think it looks awesome and I would totally buy it, but I'm curious, what other alternatives exist?

Other than the Air Dock which was a Kickstarter but now goes for $69 now and the OwlPad which has been out for OVER a year which sells for $57. There are others on Amazon and Aliexpress from $35-50 depending on quality. $80 for a plain old QI charger is just over priced. For $69 at least the Airdock has the Magnets for the N5 included in the design.
One thing to consider with a wireless charger dock for the car is how much flexibility in positioning it offers, cause most of the time, you'll probably need to put it where it can get some direct air conditioning. This Easy Flex Wireless, if it's like the Easy Flex 3, can be rotated 360° and put the phone hanging in front of the vents of my car.
Does anyone know if this will work with case on. I would get it but I wanna know if can have a case on my nexus and it will still work. If you know the answer please let me know. Thanks

It does, like any other Qi charger. IIRC Qi can do something like half an inch distance. In any case, it should be fine for any cases that are not battery cases or metal ones.
Not bad, but bouncy....
I pre-prdered this dock using the Facebook coupon, and it arrived over the weekend. I tried it out in the hopes that it would not exhibit the bounciness that the other wireless charging dock I ordered had.
I used my phone, both with and without it's TPU case (my phone is an LG G2) in this dock and on all but the smoothest of roads (I live in Michigan, so "smooth road" is almost an oxymoron) the bounce is very noticeable. There is just too much flex in the arm of the dock.
I have written to them via their facebook page in hopes that I receive a reply and hopefully a solution.
The pricing is now $69.95 on amazon
