Contactless charger - Thunderbolt Accessories

Any news about when they will be available?

No offical announcemnt yet but i am waiting for this as well. the verizon website does now list list an inductive back plate though here a link:

I wonder if this would be compatible with one of those powermats. also i was looking and the back plate for the evo looks almost identical to the TB one, so i wonder if the powermat kit for the evo would in turn work for our TBs, any one know if any of this would work?

I've noticed the bump in the cover, almost like the extended battery one. That will be a problem because of cases and docks, kind of disappointing.

If it's anything like palm's efforts, a case would thwart the inductive charging process anyway.

Solar Battery / Back Door or Solar Charger?

I was interested in getting a solar charging battery cover for my phone or something like that...
maybe something that doubles as a case or some sort...I know they make something like that for the iPhones and such, so I know it's possible but my search resulted in nothing of the like for the MT4G...
Most likely they just haven't made it for this phone yet since its still fairly new. I can't even find a tpu case yet. Just keep looking out for it.

{video} wireless charging using touchstone

OK i have managed it, getting the palm touchstone to wirelessly charge the S3
it does bulge the back cover ever so slightly, but new ones are available.. and it will tide me over until the official solution is released in September
it charges slightly slower than with a directly attached cable, about 450ma i get about 950ma from the direct connection.
but it is much less hassle

Wow, I would never have dreamed of trying such madness, yet here's the proof

Nice work. I was wondering how much the palm coil would bulge out the battery cover and thinking of doing it myself.

In all honest its not much, and as you saw the cover still closes ok
It will do for a few months until the oficial cover is available
I have those parts and a soldering iron. I might buy a spare cover and give it a go.
I mounted a touchstone in my car and charged my Pre that way. It would be pretty killer if I could do it with the S3.

That is a brilliant idea and a good method.. I will also give it a try.
But i am wondering if samsung is planning to release somewhat familiar technology officially? it looks very user friendly!!

Search google for Samsung S3 wireless charger, and you will see it
I had the touchstone, and a back cover spare, and i thought i would make use of it until the genuine item is available

try to replace normal wire by copper wire like I did and the backcover is perfectly fit

hopefully more ideas can be shared. Copper tape might work well

Induction charging with slim battery covers?

So, I'll be heading out to Verizon shortly to trade in my T-mobile HTC amaze for an S3. The development community behind the S3 is HUGE!!
In any case... I'd like to get the induction charging (as I've found with past phones, after about a year the micro-usb port can start to get shoddy). It seems the new cover issue has been solved (thanks flashcity90) for case fitment, but I'm curious if slim covers would inhibit the charging. I know induction chargers have only recently came out... but haven't been able to find any reviews or comments on this.
Something like one of these, that has been reviewed here in the forums:

Powermat Wireless Back Almost here!

I'm not about the wireless mods or shady paypal deals. I was looking at powermat today and they FINALLY posted about the wireless charging back for the S3. Here is the direct link. It does have a price listed, but it is not searchable to find a retailer selling it yet. Hopefully we are very close!

Edit: taking a better look at the case, I find myself disappointed. This doesn't appear to be a replacement battery cover, rather one of the old style case covers. Essentially plugging into the USB slot at the bottom and holding the charging essentials outside of the actually phone.
Thats fat!

Cool! Thanks for posting that.
that one is fat, and connects at the usb port, not at the two pins near the battery
Yeah that's why I put it in my post. I'm surprised considering s
Samsung and powermat joined up and powermat has that snack NFC replacement charging option coming.
Took a chance and ordered one of these puppies on the day it was released. Arrived today and it is a piece of crap. Very hard to get the phone in the case and then when I tried to remove it, the case immediately cracked. Stay far away from this one.

Official Quick Circle case on Amazon

Just wanted to let everyone know that the official Quick Circle case on Amazon does not support wireless charging. I purchased it hoping it would but it doesn't. There are no pins, it is meant to snap on over your existing back cover.
Here is the link just in case someone is interested in it without the wireless charging:

$50?! Minimal protection, no thanks. But thanks for sharing.
Cool, but very gimmicky. I'll pass.
You can get the gold for as cheap as $24: http://www.amazon.com/LG-Quick-Circle-Window-Folio/dp/B00LIX14J4
You can get a quality one that includes nfc and qi off of celljackets for $12. Bought two of them off of them and never had any problems. Would highly recommend because it also looks like the official one, including the LG G3 being printed on the front. Also comes in the official looking box.
