[Q] How to S-OFF my WILDFIRE? - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How can i do S-OFF?
pls help..
sometimes i am angry with this machine.. pls save me

Here's an idea: use the search button this forum is provided with!

there is no file for Wildfire.. i searched before.. many times..

I will tell you:
Make few more threads starting topics randomly like:
1.Why i can not root my wildfire with 2.2.1 ?
or:
2.Why it is impossible to root wildfire yet ?
or
3.Why there is no way to root wildfire without htc clip ?
or
4.Where can i download htc clip to root wildfire -(this one is funny, i bet you will have many replies for that, most of them will have "LOL" in message text)
5.How to use search function ?
6.Why if i am not stupid i can not find any thread with tutorial how to remove nand lock ?
I think that when you make new threads or just start to look at following text :
THERE IS NO WAY TO ROOT FROYO with newest HBOOT yet programatically
you will find that i am really lying and you have to ask more people and make more new threads to discover that i am not.

Thanx..
i have
clockworkmode 3.0.0.6
rooted phone with CM7 #36
i just get problem when i change system files.. so i am bored and i want s-off...

Reboot in Recovery, Mount /system and use ADB. There, long work substitute for S-OFF.

Need Helps for rooting Desire~

Some Intro first: My gf is asking me to root her device within 2 days
And that should be pitiful. I need some immediate help for this.
Wish some Bros/ Mans would understand me
Currently I m using a rooted HTC legend and overall I know some processes about rooting a device but I find sth stuck.
(I have already read some thread and tried to Google it in advance)
As I know, if i need to root it, I should have to dl the HTC sync for the driver.
~Ya, I got it as my legend need this too, but are they compatible? And Do I still need to del the sync and just leave the driver right there?( my legend don't need to do that)
Second thing is that I know some roms like this one ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016940 ) require stock h-boot or cm7 h-boot
(in particular some only accept cm7 h-boot)
Flashing an alternate h-boot needs s-off?
If I dont change my h-boot or remove apps in system then I dont need to s-off my device, isn't it?
I sincerely thank ur helps
Rooting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189 all you need to know should be there.
HTC Sync that one I can't help you with, no idea.
Flashing different hboot, yes you need to s-off.
If you don't s-off lots of roms use a2sd to combat the small internal memory. Unless you go just stock but if you do go a2sd you will need and ext3 or 4 on you sd card.
dude there are loads of guides... personally I would just root and get a custom rom on... If you then think you need to s-off deal with that then!!
Reflex s is a sense rom that doesn't need s-off and its awesome

[Q] Not entering in Recovery MOd

Hi Friends,
Infact i am new to android so i am facing many difficulties and i read lot of posts but realy dont understand how i start playing wth android.
When i try to enter in recovery mode by shutdown and by pressing both power and down volume button but nothing happened. after releasing these buttons it directly go to nomal boot and power on.
i have htc desire, with android 2.3.3 , 8gb sd
some other problems
internal memory is very low,
what i should do to fix these issues.
i am new please tell me in detail and step by step.
thanks
is there anyone who will help me.....
Hi
The trick to enter the bootloader is to press ONLY the volume down key, then start the phone. In bootloader, you have to pick recovery, press the power button and *booom*, you're in the recovery ;-)
And for you to ask a step by step process & so forth would be a bit impossible at the moment.....[unless somebody is really willing to help you out]...There's your Search functionality...maximize it.....just as long as you know what you need to know then search will always be there for you.....most of the solutions these days are here already,,,you just need to be clever enough in providing the right keyword when you search....you can pretty much try googling for a solution as well......
When all else fails.....that's the time you ask for Help......I can somehow help you out on some queries but on my free time buddy.
Cheers...
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
What rom you running, what hboot etc... if you provide some more info it will be better to get some info...
Did you untick fastboot mode in settings?
do you have an ext partition?
I know that problem. Some ROMs (like InsertCoin) doesn't shutdown properly so they can restart very quickly. The trick is to remove the battery for about 10 seconds and then try again with Power + Vol down.

Thanks dear friend. first of all i think
"Cool3D RunnyMede v6" is ok, it have sense 3.5 and if its will not work in desire then recomend me other which you like. after learning i will try different.
When you talk about low memory, you mean for apps?
I had this problem back when I had a desire. The best solution I found for this was using a ROM with A2SD or A2SD+, which effectivley 'extends' the memory area for apps into your SD card.
Signal problems can be caused by a variety of things, but (again form my own experience) it can take a while to get a ROM, kernel, and Radio that work perfectly. That said, it shouldnt be hard to get together a set that works.
Are you rooted?
Are you looking to put a custom ROM on your phone?

It's probably best to start with rooting. There are many guides which already exist, here on XDA and outside on the big wide google. One particular method though is the one which I used, unrEVOked. It works pretty well. A good duide on the method is here.

It's a tool used for rooting many different HTC devices. It's fairly easy to use, like a one-click solution.
run revolutionary that should you s-off then flash your recovery (check my signature)...
Unrevoked is method to get root but you mentioned s-off revolutionary is the best option because alpharev is older method (0.93 hboot)

You really need to search this forum first! Anyway, I'll make it easy for you this time.
If you have the HTC stock ROM v2.2.1 and your phone is network branded then you most likely have HBOOT 1.01.0002 which means that the standard rooting methods will not work unless you do this first:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1132028
After you do that, which downgrades your HBOOT from 1.01.0002 to 1.01.0001 you'll have to use Revolutionary to S-OFF you phone. At the end, the Revolutionary process will ask you if you want to install a recovery. Make sure that you DO!
Option 1. If you want to stay with the stock ROM then you also need to do the next step:
After that you need to put the zip file attached (see end of this post) on you SD card, boot your phone into recovery and install that zip from your SD card to gain ROOT. Afterwards you'll probably also want to go onto the Market to download BusyBox and install it in both possible locations, i.e. system/bin AND system/xbin - diferent programs look for BusyBox at different locations.
Option 2. Otherwise, you can just put your favourite custom ROM zip on your SD card, boot into recovery, do a 'Wipe/factory reset' and then install the custom ROM zip.
NOTE: This will NOT unlock your phone if it is network locked! You will be rooted and be able to install custom ROMs, etc. but you will STILL be network locked!

Insufficient Memory - Solutions?

Like many other Desire owners, I'm getting the dreaded 'Low on space' / 'Insufficient Memory' notifications on my phone. I've already tried transferring as many apps to the SD card as possible but I'm still left with just 13MB of memory. I've also cleared the internet browser cache.
What options have I got? Is there a way of getting more memory without rooting the phone? Are there different rooting methods? Which ROM should I install?
I'm running Android version 2.29.405.5 if it makes any difference.
Thanks

go here follow instructions, download the revolutionay file, fill in the dropdown boxes, htc desire, 0.93xxx and s/n to generate beta key. then plug in ur phone (usb) and run the revolutionary program u downloaded, it will ask u to type in the beta key u got, type it or copy/paste then hit enter. it will ask u to install CWM recovery, type y. and then let it do its thing. before all this make sure u have all the drivers installed on ur computer for ur phone.

How do I know what drivers I need and where do I get them from? Will my phone have Android installed and be ready to use after I install the revolutionary file or is that just to s-off it?
http://androidforums.com/desire-all...ff-root-htc-desire-revolutionary-updated.html
like i said in my first post read the guide, everything u need is there. also download HTC sync then uninstall HTC sync ONLY, leaving the drivers on ur computer, also what u could do is when u run the HTC sync setup just cancel it once the drivers are installed.

Do I have to do anything to my SD card before I start the S-Off / Rooting processes? Format it? Partition it? I currently have some apps, documents and photos on it.

u will only have to partition ur sdcard when u install a custom rom, then u will have to backup ur apps and things coz it will erase everything. revolutionary is only to s-off ur phone. make sure u read up about everything first before doing anything, u dont have to understand absolutley everything but atleast have an idea and understand the risks.

I was in same position as you before few days, this pro guys don't like to write steps, they point to guides and then you need to read ALOT to get picture of what is all needed, but luckily for you I am here to help lol
First to say some things about it...

2. Root phone
3. Modify your official ROM you got on phone (I presume its 2.2.2 as latest official android for Desire)

I've S-Offed the phone and rooted it. What ROM options should I be considering? Does Ice-cream sandwich work well on the Desire? I don't need anything highly modified, just something that will let me transfer as much data as possible to the SD card.

I need an advice for a way to downgrade my HTC desire

Hi guys, I know there are a lot of posts about this , and thats the reason I write new one. I read them all, not only from this forum but from few more in the internet. What I need to know is - what is the safest and easiest ( I know its not easy ) way to downgrade my DHD with 3.12.405.1 software version to convinient one , so I can S-off, root and change my rom. I read about a lot of tools , 2-3 ways of doing it , but because of different problems like broken links, lack of support on the posts I decided to ask for your help here . Whats the way to do this - using AAHC, using this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424023) made me confused what is this platform-tools directory and some other things in it. So , I am ready for giving you a few beers ( I am sure other people too) if you explain me which sites or ways are these what I (and other users) should use
Cmon , doesnt any1 did this in the near future and show me what he used , thats all I need, no explains no nothing ?
You should try the official bootloader unlock from HTCDev : http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader
Follow the instructions, unlock your bootloader. Then flash a custom recovery image like clockworkmod from Fastboot using "Fastboot flash recovery [recovery_image]" from command line.
Boot into bootloader by pressing the Vol down and Power button to get into the Bootloader and then select Recovery.
Install the zip of whatever ROM you want from the recovery then.

Use AAHK. In short, run once to downgrade and a second time to S-OFF, flash custom recovery and and root. Make sure you read the entire manual.
The HTCDEV method gives you fewer ROM options and adds an extra flash step. It also is detectable so you can't go back to undetectable unroot, making warranty unrecoverable.

If u simply want to change ur rom or just root it u can do it with a software called rootme.Google it n u will find it.i hv tested it on 3.12 version but doesnt work on 3.13 version.once rooted install rom manager app from the market and flash a recovery within the app. Thn reboot into recovery using the same app. Now install whtever zip format rom u want. But if u want s-off thn u need to downgrade coz non of the softwares support the current version. Download a ruu of the software version u want to downgrade to on your computer run it n ur phone will be flashed to that version thn u can use softwares like ATM or easy s-off by jyoko..
P.s u can fibd the ruu on goo.im or just google for thm but remember if ur phone came with a gingerbread on it flash it with a Gingerbread ruu but if it came it Froyo u can flash any RUU.

Actually , I think I am confused. All of you told me maybe 3-4 different ways. So I reconcidered what I need most and it is downgrade tool. The other things are easy for me. I just cant use lower version rom and start it because I cant find out if my phone was bought with froyo or GB. Thats my problem now - how to downgrade from 3.12.405.1 to rom that can be used for S-off , root and installing recovery :fingers-crossed: And at the end - I cant find a proper link to download Advanced Ace Hack Kit, the one from its site downloads the 96.8mb file and says :network error: .. wtf ?

There is only ONE way to hack your device. The Advanced Ace Hack Kit (http://tau.shadowchild.nl/attn1/?p=74) That will S-OFF and root your device in almost one step.
HTCDEV tools is useless and will not give you full control over your device, besides leaving traces of the unlock in case you need to revert back to stock for warranty purposes.
Use the Hack Kit and if needed use the guide in my signature to have more information. :good:

Yeah I run the AAHK but I got condused of so many menus there, I am afraid of bricking the device. Thats what I did - downloaded AAHK 12062012, extracted it, put the ROM file inside the folder in extracted files of AAHK. The I run it, input the password and its all connected. My phone is with fast boot of, debugging on and on charging only state . Whats the next I should do - there is nothing exactly shown. Should I press 1 and hack the device, should I use the downgrade to Froyo option .. I really got confused here. And I will tell you , I do not root or s-off or change recoverys, radios, kernels , roms for first time, I am flash junkie and this thing got me

There is BUT if you do end IP with a device that shipped with gb you will be in a world of hurt and you'll be back asking to fix your phone because you screwed the boot loader. Its simple DONT DOWNGRADE TO FROYO. there is no point or need. Just reread the manual until you get it.then run the hack kit

I understand you mate, but I wanna change my ROM, so if I am gonna do it, I suppose I have to downgrade in order to S-off, root and install recovery . Am I right or its me that doesnt get it ? If you say to leave it with GB, so what option should I use in AAHK ?
The kit never downgrades you froyo. I think this is where you are confused. Downgrade doesn't mean froyo. It just means you will be on a older version.
Here's some info. When HTC released the sense 3.0 update(3.12.405) it patched up things so we cannot get root/soff etc. So the kit downgrades you back to sense 2.1 (2.50.405-this is still GB). Then you rerun to get soff.
You only need the 1 click option.

Here's some info. When HTC released the sense 3.0 update(3.12.405) it patched up things so we cannot get root/soff etc. So the kit downgrades you back to sense 2.1 (2.50.405-this is still GB). Then you rerun to get soff.
You only need the 1 click option.

You have to do nothing but read the manual. Do not use any other RUU to downgrade but the ones included in the Hack Kit. It will detect your OS version and prompt you to downgrade if needed. Gizmoe is right, the Hack Kit does not use FROYO RUU's anymore since the bootloader issue was detected.
Just make sure that you follow all the instructions. If you get stuck visit the IRC channel and we will lend you a hand. :good:

hahaha Sorry, have been wandering around!! my apologies...more reading less drinking will do the trick.
Okay I found the last version of AAHK, but I got this problem with the driver I should install , I saw it was the right one but now it is with version 2.x.x.x , the one in the AAHK folder is 3.0.0.7 and I cant install it , some error ocurs and it wants to be repaired , can I use the one that windows instals itself - the 2.x.x.x version ?
