[Q] Lg Optimus Chic (e720) custom rom???? - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hello guys ... Looking around the web i can not find anything about a recovery or a custom kernel for Lg optimus chic ... I own it for 3 months, and I'm really satisfied, but a recovery to install above would make me really happy. Someone could create one? It should not be difficult, it is almost the same as the LG optimus one ... Thanks in advance ... Oh I forgot, you could create a section for the LG Optimus Chic (like the optimus one)? This smartphone is spreading very fast, and he deserves a custom recovery of his ownThank you very much. Oh and sorry for my bad English :S
Greetings from Italy Andreoid.

Anyone can help me?

And I search ROM for my LG Optimus Chic

Have you find any custom recovery for patching a rom?

I made a tested working one a few weeks ago just havent had time to release it.

Really???????

Test Version: Note I do not have this phone and was asked to add this to my recovery lineup.
Directions:
Download this recovery and unzip it and copy to root of sdcard
recovery-alessi-gnm.img.zip
password is gnmtest
download flash_image.zip and unzip and copy to root of sdcard
flash_image.zip
commands to flash recovery
from adb shell or terminal (requires root # prompt)
Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock1 /system
cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image
chmod 0755 /system/bin/flash_image
mv /system/etc/install-recovery.sh /system/etc/install-recovery.sh.bak (notice this file install-recovery.sh may not be on your device if it gives an error or file not found move on)
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-alessi-gnm.img
sync
then power off device and boot holding most likely vol-dn + home + menu ??? This needs to be verified for alessi device. You may be able to boot recovery by adb reboot recovery also. Edit confirmed to boot via VOL UP + VOL DOWN + POWER by ptesmoke on e720 (bell)
Key mapping is Vol-up & Vol-down move selection up & down. Back is backup a menu. Menu key is to select.
This is a test version I'll do full release soon after bugs (if any) are worked out.
The message E: bad boot message is normal disregard it.
For debugging use the move recovery-log to sd option under other and please upload it with feedback.
Overclock kernel assuming everything works:
signed_alessi_oc.zip
Ptesmoke noted that Oc kernel wasn't very stable for him above 748mhz. Ill need some other feedback to make sure it wasnt just a low spec processor die he had.
password is keepout
Special Thanks:
Amon_Ra for his original source code
Ptesmoke for testing

Cooking My 1st Rom (Experts plzzzz have a look :o)

hey everyone
i'm trying to build my first rom, not sure what i am doing but still trying
i would like to list what i've done, and i would love if Dev's could confirm/correct what i've done.
So this is my status :
** Env: winxp & VMware (linux ubuntu 10.11)
1- Kitchen : dsixda-Android-Kitchen-0.188-0-ge5d2a45
url: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246
2- Rom : Pre-rooted Stock Gingerbread (3.14.405.1)
url: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200261
3- using Kernel Gingercakes0.9cfs_2way_HAVS
url: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254272
- extracted current Rom's Kernel (using kitchen), replaced zImage, then re-packed boot.img,
also replaced bcm4329.ko at /system/lib/modules with the one in the Kernel's update zip file.
4- added ext4 support (the Mod was at the rom thread)
- by adding the lib/modules files & the init.d/00ext4 file
5- deodexed both /system/app & /system/framework : using the kitchen menu.
6- added NANO editor : using the kitchen menu.
7- custom bootanimation functionality (/data/local) : using kitchen menu.
8- zipaligned apk files under /system/app : using kitchen menu.
i will continue adding mods and so, but i need someone -please- to confirm or correct my steps
one major thing i am not sure about is that i can use the gingercackes kernel with a bravo rom?
i mean not a ported Rom from Ace.
also there was more than one update package for kernel to use, i picked cfs_2way_HAVS as a test
there were more like SVS and so.. what is the diferences -short words will be good -
any help will be gratfuly appreciated.
thanks.
This isn't building a Rom, this is taking someone else's rooted stock and adding options using dsixda kitchen. There isn't really anything that can go wrong. Children can do it. In fact they do...

OMG that was OUCH
ok i said i am new , don't know if words are really critical this way
build , customize , or adding options ...
i am not claiming it for me, as i mentioned all URLs i used
so i am not stealing anyone's hard work ... right?
i was really happy when i saw a reply to my thread, but really got surprised when i red it.
just like a pull-back
even you did not answer any question ...
thanks .
Sorry, not meant to be a dig. You just select what options you want and select build. If you can press buttons on a keyboard, you're doing it right. It can't be simpler. There is literally no advice to give.

hello again,
in case anyone still interested . the rom as described above was flashed and successfully booted
- the compass still not fixed in the kernel
i will try SNQ's kernel ...
- will try to add trackpad-wake.
- maybe adding the extended power menu.

Forget about official updates if you have rooted device.
Wow, neither of you helped this guy, or even tried.
The only thing I would know to do is to find the original ruu for your carrier, flash that, and see where you stand. I'm pretty sure the updater only checks for firmware versions. NOT su installation. Could be wrong though...

see bro i explained you about the boot.img its only that much now in detail fr system.yaffs2.img (can be told as system.img too)
system.img is the system folder in your rom. when it is extracted it becomes the system folder..
if you go into system folder yyou will see these folders..
Code:
app
bin
customize
etc
fonts
framework
lip
lost+found
media
usr
xbin
and a file named build.prop
app:
Code:
it is a folder where all system apps are there..
you can paste a apk there to make it the system app
(the system apps dont get updates from market mostly
bin:
Code:
it hellps the icons to animate..
like if the animation has 9 images then to move those nine images
(that is to animate those nine images to become one animation)
the commands are given here in bin
(as far as i know i may be wrong about this)
customize:
Code:
all the customisations are here like your boot animation
(the default one not the customized one)
your default wall paper.. etc
etc:
Code:
all the permisions and etc are here
like the permisions of su , the bluetooth paired devices
your wifi passwords and all
fonts :
Code:
no explaination needed
framework:
Code:
it is a folder where all the jar files are located..
the jar files are used for all the work you do ..
like if you assign the MENU key with a Launcher then
tht assigning is saved into a jar
(this is never used with launchers its just an example)
if you wanna change the theme then you can edit
the framework-res.apk in it :D
lib:
Code:
all the lib like sound plugins this plugin that plugin
lost+found:
Code:
i dont know , its allways empty for me :(
donnt know what it is
media:
Code:
here you can paste the bootanimation.zip
of your own choice to have a
customized bootanimation.zip .
usr:
Code:
here all the icons are located ..
the icon of wifi bluetooth keyboard and all
xbin:
Code:
it is just a bin mostly used as a temp folder :D
the build.prop
Code:
its a file that is as like the updater script
but doesnt update nything but shows the information in the rom,
like what is the build of the rom
what version of the sense
what resolution you want
(the default is 120 but it is changable :D)
got things clear?
I got an idea. Go to HTC service centre and shed 500 re, rest they will do

But half the dual boot is Android (even though the other half is Ubuntu). Is that not enough?
And by the way, where is the Ubuntu forum? I can't seem to find it in the Galaxy Nexus forums. Do you mean the thread? Or do you mean the general Ubuntu section?
Just noticed a bug with this.

I had no problem either, but since i flashed another android rom, i have the same issue as above.
By the way maybe interresting thing, with an explorer with root privilege on the android part we can access some folders like acct, uid, system, init files and more, is it ok? cause i don't remember having access to the uid folder before....
This is great! Thanks!
I noticed that the " Dualboot ubuntu zip file " contains 4.2.1 files & most probably 4.2.1 kernel . Didn't tried this out yet . but like to clarify from those who have flashed this .
Can we use this with 4.2.2 rom ? or it just reverts the rom back to 4.2.1 .

[Developer Discussion] JB Rom Creation

Hi All,
I'm starting this thread so that we can compile in one location the methods we attempted to create a zip for the recent Jellybean update, and hopefully advance the creation of this rom. This should be mentioned before starting.
ONLY POST IF YOU HAVE RELEVENT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS JELLYBEAN ROM.
This Includes:
Procedures
Logcats
Test Builds
Helpful Suggestions (Be Specific)
To start, I've attempted the following alterations on the zip level:
Straight System dump with updated updater-script
System dump with default updater script
Modified updater script removing patch elements
Utilizing the Canadian Rom, which flashed and appplying new system.
Swapping out radio flashing and boot.img with shellnutt's boot.img
I also have the following plans:
System Dump on Canadian Rom, and default boot.img
Recursive Deleting of patched files
Example
Code:
assert(apply_patch_check("/system/3rd_party/videowiz/lib/libMvMMAS.so", "65cfe8efc36cf58669e5fb9f30274bc49c3f9703", "e1a051bb2562af8d9b106ef4b875f85a6109ee9e"));
set_progress(0.003080);
delete("/system/3rd_party/videowiz/lib/libMvMMAS.so");
Than initiate the normal package_extract_dir("system", "/system");
Any other information would be great. Some developers have gotten it to flash but not boot.
Also, here's a link to the test builds I released.
http://goo.im/devs/AdriVelazquez/Roms/Nightlies/TestSprint
Thanks to all the developers that have been working on it.
This is what I've tried:
Used the boot.img & system.img. from dump to compile a rom in dxsdia's kitchen. I was able to apply root to the boot.img and compiled a zip but it wont flash. I then added the updater script from the dump but it still wouldn' t flash. Ithink my problem is in the updater script. I didn't take thetime to configure the kitchen properly for the optimus G but will do so tonight. I have the 2 test zips at home and I'll post them tonight if anyone wants to take a look.
Suggestion:
Since houstonns Korean port boots, and all is well except radio, would it also help to look at that system dump along with the Canadian? Maybe something to utilize?

[REQUEST] Stock based ROM for Optimus G E975

As the title says: please someone cook a stock based rom for the international version of the optimus g e975. I am a total noob and am therefore not able to cook one myself. Romkitches is not compatible with our phone but does support the nexus 4 (mako) though. If one is able to explain or provide info on the process of cooking a booting stock based rom for lg phones I might do it on my own.

this is a great idea. i was a bit disappointed when i upgraded to the LGOG (from HOX) that there were only as AOSP/AOPK roms available. right now, I get by with a rooted stock rom. it would be nice to have a custom rom based on stock.
on another note, it would be awesome to start with a stock based kernel with swipe2wake or double tap 2 wake. it's an upcoming feature of the OG2 and used to be my favorite kernel mod for the HOX.
if i wasn't so caught up with work I'd be more that willing to help out.

The OP is mentioning Modem for "E975".
As far as I now, to install this on E975 you will need a compatible Kernel and there is none, if you install Houstonn Kernel you will have non working camera!
aw, it's such a pity though, the Rom had a lot of promise. I just checked back there and I saw that the thread was closed at Aug 4. Bummer.
maybe the kernel will mature eventually and bring a working camera. i don't use the camera that often but i need it sometimes to take picture notes. i'll keep an eye on the kernel thread.

I just had a read through a couple of tutorials. there must be a way to keep the stock kernel, only root it and debloat and deodex all the system data. I have no clue of compiling a kernel and adding stuff like slide 2 wake though. I will try to contact the dev of romkitchen and maybe get something out of there. I cannot imagine it to be that hard. It is kinda urgend, cause my phone keeps crashing with cm10.1 -> bluescreen and system crash....I will have time on the weekend though. If somebody is willing to help me we can meet in IRC. AT LEAST GET ME SUM TUTORIALS TO COOK A STOCK LG ROM I have some here but they seem to be old. I have no other sources.
Bro I have stock based flashable zip for e975. I personally made it for my personal use but I think I should share this to you guys since you want a flashable stock rom. It's 600mb rooted, deodexed, debloated and zipaligned. It will take sometime to upload this since I am living in a slow internet country.

How you deodexed the rom coz im getting error while doin tat...!!
+1
I'm also cooking E975 international 4.1.2 stock based rom, but still testing because there will be modded kernel with overclock possibles and also option to choose what stock applications you want to install, possibility to choose few performance options (internal sd-card buffer, memory management, dfsync ON/OFF, swappiness etc.) with Aroma installer
My priority is to cook and mod rom and kernel that is stable as LG's orginal rom, but it will have many performance and battery improvements.
ETA: ...in few weeks

To deodex just use dsixda's Kitchen but make sure you set the correct API level. Here's a list

Good to see this. But i think overclocking is not needed since Optimus G s already a biggest battery sucker.....1.5 Ghz quad core is far far bettr....Evn in ECO mode (1.5ghz dual core mode) it works smooth.....also swap is also not needed coz more than 50% Ram is empty...!!...

Same with me system files from CWM backup can't be use so here;s what I did.
1st you must install Terminal Emulator from market.
Run this command
su [Enter]
tar -c system/* >> sdcard/system.tar [Enter]

It will take sometime to finish so be patient.
Once it is finish you will see the system.tar file which includes all the system files. It's weird because I restarted my phone before seeing the system.tar folder inside my sdcard. (maybe you can do that too if you don't see it)

I have done the same before but there are missing files. You don't even know if your busybox is working or not. Try using the commands to check if you have working busybox. I encountered many errors before like "sh: tar not found".
It's great to see this, I miss so much my days of testing roms (SGS3). The OG is perfect with the stock rom but I think that the visual aspect is kind of lame. If you guys can improve the menus and the visual aspect would be perfect!!!
P.D.: Maybe add some features of the OG Pro Rom

Guys where do you think can I upload the ROM? Suggestion please.
