[Q] Factory Reset - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there anyway i can set the settings or atleast break factory reset? Thing is i make metropcs roms and if people do a factory reset it resets the data for their data and reverts the apn back to sprint and considering that i changed the apn in the framework-res.apk idk how it resets everything back to sprint

well then maybe they shouldn't be doing factory resets..

[Sprint] Cannot make calls or send sms

I flashed a custom ROM and after deciding I didn't like it I restored a factory stock ROM and every since all hell broke loose.
At first I had no connection of any kind whatsoever no matter what ROM or modem I flashed.
Then I dialed ##72786# and it seemed to have restored all connections.
Went to bed.
Woke up with only 3g working and nothing else. No calls and no sms.
Flashed a bunch of ROMS again including factory stock and no dice.
Spent 3 hours with Sprint Customer Service and they could not figure out why my phone cannot make calls or send sms.
When making calls I would get "error 16" and the "your account could not be validated"
Please help! I am ready to sell this phone because I don't know what else to do.
Try updating profile and prl. Also give odining a new modem Lg2 is the latest one.
When you did a factory reset, did you clear /efs?

tried both....didn't work
i flashed LG2 modem via CWM....not sure if it makes a difference
RTN reset, Dial ##786# or *#*#786#*#* put in your MSL or SPC code and do the reset you may have to push the menu button to see the reset option. This will wipe/reset every thing back to factory

Call ended issue

Hey guys,
So I googled this and looked this problem up on the thread and didn`t seem to find any answers and thats why I`m opening another one.
So anyways, I was initially running Highonandroid 0.3 and when I saw the new synergyrom, I decided to flash it (I made a backup before this). Flashing the new rom, it couldn`t register my network (Rogers canada) so I decided to revert back to my rom before.
After reverting back, I noticed that lte and texting works but calling and receiving calls no longer work. Every time I tried to call, it would just say call ended and on call logs, I notice it said call cancelled. I would like to try to fix this problem without resorting to reformatting everything because I backed it up to avoid such an issue to begin with.
I`ve checked my config and everything seems to be in place.
Anyone know the solution to fixing this?
Thanks!

That's really weird.. try resetting your APN's to default. Just press menu under APN. If that doesn't do anything, you should try a clean flash.. Wipe System/Data/Cache/Dalvik. I've never heard of this so it's probably a one off problem.

LOL after setting it to default, I lost my rogers APN thing and in fact, the menu changed too . Says System select and CDMA subscription now. So texting and my lte is gone atm.
I have tried wipe system and then restore and wipe everything and restore again and before booting back into the os, I cleared the cache and dalvik as well. This is pretty weird.
I'll restart and see if the APN default thing goes back to normal.
(ok so after rebooting it, i went to the settings and manually pressed by my rogers lte and data and texting works again but call still fails to work :/)

I would say not to restore anything after wiping and reflashing.

I lose everything though
Is this the only cure for it? I hate having to copy all my pictures, music, etc from my phone. And I have my stuff setup in a particular order... hate to do it all over again lol

Wiping data or factory resetting in recovery won't wipe your internal SD. You'll only lose app data and have to redownload all your apps.

[Solution] Bad or No Reception

I have had an issue for 2 months now searching high and low to find out how to fix my bad or no service. I would have service for 3min then boom, nothing for 30min. I flashed a ROM (don't remember which one caused the issue) and instantly had bad reception. I tried everything to fix. I've odin back to 4.1.1 tried new modems. Nothing worked. Then I came across how to do a hard restore (same method as network unlocking)
YOU WILL LOOSE ALL DATA. SAVE TO EXT-SDCARD IF YOU WANT TO SAVE ANYTHING. You might have to downgrade to 4.1.1 first. Thats what I did.
!!WARNING SETTINGS CHANGED IN 197328640 MODE DO NO RESET ON HARD RESET THESE SETTING STAY WITH THE PHONE YOU MIGHT GET THINGS BACK TO NORMAL BY USING *2767*3855# - Full Reset (Caution every stored data will be deleted.)!!
dial this number on your phone *2767*3855# and it will factory reset
Hope this help some out
Thanx

No data after updating to Pie

I recently updated to Android 9 on my Note 8 SM N950U (Verizon phone using Straight Talk Service) that was previously running Android 7 without any issues. After the update I have no data connection and I am unable to change my apns, add apns, or reset apns. I have tried every option I have found except factory resetting the phone. Any ideas on a way to fix this or do I need to go back to 7?

You aren't going back to 7 that's for sure! Try going into the reset settings and reset all the network settings.
I have tried resetti g the network settings and it still doesn't work.

I don't know what to tell you other than to try a factory reset at this point and before you do a factory reset get Samsung's Smart Switch app from the play store because it'll backup and save all your stuff to an SD card so it can be restored later.. Personally I think that's not going to work either because I don't think this firmware upgrade has been made to work with Straight Talk.. That being said, I could be wrong and a factory reset might work so it's worth a shot.

Question mobile network issues

it appears flashing my phone to the a546u1 model has hampered the phone's capability of connecting to a mobile network. selecting a network operator fails every time i have tried it. i've tried restarting my phone, resetting the network settings, powering it off for 30 seconds and re-inserting the sim card, and toggling airplane mode on and off. it simply does not allow selecting a network operator. do i have to restore it to the original a546u model and, if so, would a normal factory reset accomplish this or do i need to use a more complicated method?
Did you perform a factory reset when you flashed it?
The U and U1 firmware should be interchangeable, but just for the sake of stability, I would recommend performing a full data wipe when you switch from one to the other.
