[Q] md5sum of the hboot file don't match!

Sorry for beginner-level question...
Via the wiki page below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com
/wiki/HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD
I have downloaded the file vision.hboot-0.84.2000.zip but the result of the md5sum is not what is shown on the wiki page: 2CE1BDD5E4C1119CCFCECB938710D742...
Could anyone tell me where is the problem?
Is the server of the zip file still trust-able?
I use my browser plugin to check md5sum and it works fine with other files I downloaded...
Thank you for your help in advance!
Possible the download was corrupted. Re-download and check it again.
I just took a quick look.
I downloaded it twice and checked md5 sum twice.
D8F61830F104FF5D48B855BBE0D95F56 *vision.hboot-0.84.2000.zip
File size: 221,206 bytes.
Edit: Here are the md5 checksum for the HBoot download from the cyanogen wiki and xda wiki
D8F61830F104FF5D48B855BBE0D95F56 *vision.hboot-0.84.2000(1).zip
D8F61830F104FF5D48B855BBE0D95F56 *vision.hboot-0.84.2000(2).zip
Edit 2: This is generated with Fast Sum 1.7 from Kirill Zinov, and my HDD has fiile compression on so my md5 maybe different that yours but nevertheless, the files seem to be trust-able.
My guess: The xda wiki folks and the cyanogen folks forgot to check the check sum, or maybe it's just crappy software generate crappy md5 SUM
My advise:
1/ go ahead and use it, or
2/ use cynogenmod guide. I personally used this guide. They're the same anyways.
Cyanogen root guide for the Desize Z
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HT...26_the_Engineering_HBoot_for_the_HTC_Desire_Z
for the xda wiki, its the md5sum for the .img inside the zip. not the zip.
The cm wiki has the zip of the zipfile, as gu1dry doesn't want to add the extra instruction.

Thank you. I have got D8F61830F104FF5D48B855BBE0D95F56 too!
Oh, I see... Thank you for the info!

[SOLVED] ParanoidAndroid 1.992 md5 hashes don't match

I don't post much so was unable to place this under the proper thread.
None of the four mirrors for ParanoidAndroid 1.992 give me the correct md5 hash after downloading and they all produce corrupt archives that I can't open with 7zip (without doing anything fancy). I am also unable to copy the zip over to the phone... on Win7 it gives me the error "Cannot copy item. The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected." although I can copy other files to the device both before and after receiving the error message without problem.
The md5 provided with the download claims it should be: e63eda63858fb5fb4255d1dac84263e7
md5 of the file downloaded from the main server is: bf1e276bed2ef101d7cf662b0b0737f9
md5 of mirror 1 is: bf48c44a07055a5a1ec06f5c2e4bb0dd
md5 of mirror 2 is: 0ac7ffb779117b803646006a8c408dc4
md5 of mirror 3 is: 47b6d9c1c49eca3cf033e30f49303e61
Each of the mirrors gives a file with a different md5. I am downloading from beta dot androidfilehost dot com/?fid=9390077933525139513 and using the 3 mirrors listed on the right side of that page. Again... can't post links apparently. What am I supposed to do if I just need to read threads for the most part and only comment every once in a blue moon? I've flashed dozens of roms provided by the wonderful devs here and most of them either work without a hitch or I'm able to figure out how to make them work without requiring assistance so I only have to post a comment on those rare cases like this one where I can't even download the rom.
Might as well turn this into the Paranoid Android nightly thread...

I'm pretty sure you are clicking on adware. You should only have to click on the big green Arrow to download.

Fast replies and from the developers themselves. That's what I love about XDA.
Hopefully I'll be able to upload the screenshot otherwise my description will have to suffice.
On my first attempt to download the file, these are the steps I took:
Went to the PA thread in the developers section of XDA
Under "Instructions" I clicked on the link for "Install ROM: Here"
This took me to the Team Nocturnal forum with a nearly identical post where I again clicked on "Install ROM: Here" under the Instructions section
This took me to http : // beta dot androidfilehost dot com/?fid=9390077933525139513
I clicked on the green arrow beside where it says "Download pa_d710_1.992_2SEP2012 dot zip" (had to replace . with dot)
At the download dialog box I saved the file to my hard drive
Dragged the file onto the md5sums application which opened a cmd prompt window revealing the md5 of the file
I later attempted to download the file using all four alternative options:
Team Nocturnal
mirrors
(CA) Mirror #3
(IL) Mirror #2
(IL) New Mirror #1
(UT) Main Server
I'll try again when I'm at home and on a better connection but if anyone else could verify that they get the correct md5 from a fresh download that would ease my mind and I could then concentrate on figuring out what's wrong with my system/connection that I would get a bad download.

Bingo!
While it took a few attempts (which is why I originally went with DownThemAll) I was finally able to finish a download using the native firefox download utility and not only do the md5 hashes match but the file opens with 7zip and copies to the sdcard on the phone.
Mission successful, much thanks for all your help.
Kbizzle, you may want to add this note to your thread... the site you use to host the zip files does not appear to agree with DownThemAll and possibly other 3rd party download clients.
Cheers.
