Hi, I just did the Android 2.3.3 update to my Xperia Arc (LTi5) and after doing it my picture files are becoming corrupted. They are fine for about 5 minutes and then it looks like someone cut them up into squares and mixed them around. This happens to all photos either taken wit the camera or photos transfered to the phone.
I did install a 32GB class 4 memory card in the device but this is already the 2nd one in there and I did the software update after installation with a full format and factory reset.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

So ever since installing ICS, I've had trouble accessing/using the sd storage. Recording video's or taking pics doesn't always work, most of the time they come out corrupted. Trying to transfer movie's onto the sd card always asks me if I want to make the video compatible & it doesn't matter which of the two I choose since the video plays for 2 seconds. Also, the transfer's to sd are ridiculously long. I've re formatted and re inserted the sd card several times and still no luck.
Anyone else experiencing issues with the sd card pre/post ics update ?

I have, but chalked it up to the flakiness of Android + SDXC. I also upgraded to ICS on day one, so I couldn't say if it would be any better on GB.
Even with the option selected in the 4.2.2 stock firmware, the camera app still saves all images to the internal storage. Anyone else having this issue or know of a fix?
I've just made a test - I've opened camera and under settings/data storage chose sd card. I took picture and it is saved to sd card. I have ZL6503, German ones, 4.2.2, and stock firmware.

Thanks. I guess I'll reflash the update, I'm on 6502, I got sick of trying to tinker and loaded AOKP and Free Xperia, NFC is broken now, so I guess back to stock is the fix anyways.
Hi, I have the htc one m8, stock rom on O2 uk. It's great phone and everything seems okay except sometimes photos and videos I take are there and then when I go to view them again in the gallery, in their place is an exclamation mark inside a triangle and I can't open them. This doesn't happen to all photos and videos just some and to be honest its quite annoying, I took some photos from my mum's birthday party and now they appear to be gone.The photos save automatically to my external sd card. When I connect the phone to my PC these photos and videos won't display or open. But they have different file sizes so I guess they're still there if that makes any sense.
Any help here will be greatly appreciated.
Looks like you have a corrupted external sdcard with bad sectors
Make a backup to pc.
Use a photo recovery program to retrieve them if possible
format the sdcard
try again take photo and see how it goes. Still bad, change sdcard.

I had this issue with a SanDisk card that seemed to be stuck in "read only" mode. I wasn't able to delete or write to the card but I was able to play read off the card. All my old camera photos, videos and saved mp3s played and copied over fine. All formatting methods have failed. Any way I can still salvage this card?
Had this same issue and I just ended up buying another sd card. OP let me know what the end result was....Still have the old 64Gb that I would like to salvage if I can.
I just bought my G4 2 weeks ago from Sprint.
I started noticing some of my pictures are completely grey or half of it is grey.
I tried resetting the phone, changing from external storage to internal.
Nothing has helped!

These are corrupt jpeg images which haven't been saved completely. You might be able to see the small preview but the rest of the image isn't there. I got some of these as well on my H815 EUR.
My first assumption was a dying SD card but then I saw crash dumps containing kernel oops messages when using the front camera.
I've read somewhere that clearing the cache partition helps and indeed after the V10b update (which cleared the cache) I haven't seen the issue anymore.
I have the same issue. V10b update installed. Tried to change SD card already. Some images are corrupted, some are not. Any ideas?
If you're using an external SD card to save images to and have this problem you can try to format the SD card using a pc/laptop. I was getting corrupted images and after I formatted my SD using my laptop everything is working nor.mally. No more corrupt images. Worth a shot, only takes a few mins.
Mine stated doing this within the past few days. It's a Verizon. Don't know what the 10b. update. It shows no updates installed nor pending. System VS98611A Android 5.1
Just pulled the SD card to prevent further corruption, and wiped the cache.
It's very disappointing for a cell phone one of whose big selling points was an awesome camera. "You can take great pics but you can't save them"
Hi. Some of my photos in gallery are corrupted, it's not with all of it but only with few. Problem started when i unlocked bootloader and installed WOLLA rom. Firstly, i cannot connect with mobile data, it won't working, then photos started to crash in gallery. I've tried to do all of possible wipes and instal WOLLA again and it helped for some time. Then after a few weeks of usage my photos are corrupted again. Mobile data and everything work well. When i take photo and check immediately in gallery it seems to be okay. But after a few hours when i come back to gallery some of my photos are seen as corrupted. What can be a problem here? I'm sure it's not an SD card because i've bought a new one few weeks ago Kingston SDHC 32GB UHS-I U3 . My firmware is 6.14.69.4 and WOLLA base firmware is 6.12.401.4, can it cause this problem? Thanks for any help guys

SD can go bad at any time. True that a newer one is less likely to fail, but not impossible.
Try formatting the SD card (of course copy photos you want to keep somewhere else like PC, before you format), and see if that helps (or try a different SD). Maybe the problem is something else, but the SD is a easy place to start troubleshooting (and at least eliminate it as the cause).
I assume you are using the SD card as the location for saving photos on the camera app?
Yep, my photos are saving on sd card now, but this problem was when my photos saving to internal storage too so i think sd card cannot be a problem here :/

I've got the same issue. After installing official Lineage OS 14.1 I started to have corrupted photos in the gallery. I'd say it's a gallery app problem, because when you take a new photo and then go from camera app to gallery app, earlier taken pictures, which in gallery app were corrupted, in the camera app are being shown correctly.
Have you managed to solve the problem @sonderling ?

In my case it was a issue with sd card. After reinstalling my Rom and replacing my sd card with a new one the problem was solved.
