Change language & Contacts Question - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I'm sorry if these are known question, I'm not an HTC Tilt 2 owner.
My dad owns this phone, I'd like to change the language to Spanish but nothing seems to do it. Any ideas?
Also he got a replacement phone as he wet his last one. What is the easiest way to transfer contacts? I downloading the Windows program but I think I need Outlook which I stay far away from. Is there any other way?
Thanks!

Unless he backed up his phone, ie. Sprite or kept his contact info on the sim card you will just have to manually build back his contact list.

Lost ALL my contacts!? Second time, different phone...

2 totally separate phones (dash's) one with Rogers and one with stock Tmo WM6. Hard restart all contacts disappear! Since in their infinite wisdom you cant disable the sim contacts from showing, I rely on them STAYING in the phone memory! Anyone else with this issue? It has happened only twice in maybe 4 months, but is very frustrating!
Thanks for any advice!
A hard reset will restore the phone to factory default (no contact list). It's supposed to do that. Keep your contacts synchronized via outlook and activesync.
Sorry, I was lying when I typed hard reset. I yanked the battery so it wasnt exactly a soft reset but I did not do the clear storage either I guess next time it locks up I will be more patient!

You should be syncing your phone with your contact list on your PC or exchange server if you are lucky enough to have one. This is one of the most basic things you can do on a smartphone. What if you lost your phone???
I do sync. But I dont take my computer with me either. So today, all day, I was without contacts. Now they are back caused I sync'd.
I guess we should be telling people that want louder call volume to get a hearing aid and people that want to run another ROM to buy the right phone
backup
I use Sprite Backup for said problem and its golden. Simply make backups of your data on the go and when things happen like say an impossible to stop boot loop or a data error, you can still restore everything.
I guess I am just the kind of person that would rather look at the root of the problem, not the band-aid repair after it happens again. I will look into the backup, but I will probably just carry my spare deactivated sim card so I can transfer stuff back if it fails me again.
So does anyone know a way to KEEP the contacts on the sim, yet hide them from view on the contacts list? It surpirses me that something my 8 year old Nokia does WM6 wont let you do . I have never accidentally lost my sim contacts- but the duplicate thing is annoying
The rogers rom for the htc s621 (dash) allows you to hide sim contacts without a registry edit. goto settings then phone... you'll find it there.
also there is a reg edit for said issue for roms that don't offer this option. I have not personally found a smartphone rom without this option but the regedit is: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Phone]
"ShowSIM"=dword:00000001 ->0 to disable, 1 to enable.
Now you can keep your contacts on your activated SIM.
THANK YOU!!! I had not realized Rogers did this!

broke screen-save contacts to my sim?

my screen broke and ive got the replacement ordered, but for the next week or 2 i need my contacts transferred over to my sim. i looked around active sync and couldnt find an option.
so heres my questions, 1-is there a program that will let me use my computer to go through the phones menu (or atleast see where im going)
and 2-if thats not a possibility, could anyone make me a map of buttons to press in order - 6.1 homescreen (menu is in list view and has not been rearranged)
please help me out if you have any better ideas.

ActiveSync? Sync contacts to pc,and then sync them to new phone when you get it.

Check the Club Nokia web site. I used to have a Nokia phone, and they have a software suite that will allow you to export contacts from Outlook to most of their phones.
http://www.nokiausa.com/A4986252
You can Sync your contacts to your PC, then use the Nokia Suite to copy them from Outlook to your Nokia.
Note that if you don't have access to a Nokia data cable, in many cases you can sync with Infra-Red. I had an old Nokia 6610 and used IR from my laptop to keep my contacts up-to-date.
Hope this helps.
Good luck!
just install this, plug into activesync and you can view your phone from your desktop...therefore you can just copy everything to the sim and you should be all set.

Wifi connection problems - advice required

Hi all.
My Touch Pro 2 has suddenly stopped connecting to any wifi sources
I can still detect wifi networks, and I have recreated all of my previous wifi settings but no joy.
I can't think of anything that I've changed however I did recent "reset to default" my installation of "Advanced Configuration". Wifi worked fine before I installed "Advanced Configuration", after I used it to make changes.
Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this for the next couple of months before I move on to a new phone?
thanks in advance.
You did not tell us what rom you use. Have you tried a hard reset? Try that and see if it works again.
Apologies - vanilla WinMo 6.1 mod

Apologies - it's a standard HTC WinMo 6.1 ROM no mods or updates.
I'm trying to avoid a hard reset if at all possible. It's a lot of hassle having to set the phone up again - configuring bluetooth, wifi, contacts, etc
In any event I'm planning to get a replacement on another OS in a month or so.
Problem solved!

Do you actually do that ?!
This is my 3rd wm device. I tried once and never again.
You have to have windows on your pc, use outlook and remember to do it. Why would you when there's online solutions now that involve MUCH less restrictions / effort ?

Id follow the advice and do a back up of your contacts and what not and just do a hard reset. Its amusing that you'd rather get a new device then take the 20 minutes it would take to hard reset the phone and resync everything back on and get it back to where you want it though

I use microsoft myphone to back up everything every night.. that said I use outlook to do all my calandar stuff which syncs to the phone so I have my contacts and mobile favorites etc back up to that too.

I suppose it depends what you use your phone for. Like I said.. calandar sycnronization is a must for me.... I would hate to have to type everything out on my phone when I can just change stuff on my computer. Pop it in the dock and away I go!
It's easier than when I had a WinMo device....

It's easy - actually a lot easier than when I had a WinMo device. The new Android phone comes with HTC Sync which allows for syncing with my Outlook install and still allows me to choose what t do with conflicts.
In addition I sync automatically with my online calendar and contacts.
I've been very pleasantly surprised
interesting ideas

Interesting ideas.....
I did try a hard reset in the end - it made no difference. In addition I was fed up with trying to update to WinMo 6.5 for better finger tip functionality.
Btw I tried that in the past and spent many long hours "convincing" Outlook not to duplicate appoints since it couldn't recognise existing items.
I tried the myphone service and it was quite good - took a bit of time (I couldn't connect to wifi remember ) but quite good.
I agree about the calendar sync that's important for me too...but so is the wifi access when I'm at home.
In the end the choice of wasting more time trying to fix the WinMo device and get it back to where I started was outweighed by the more flexible, finger friendly and app happy Android device.
And the Android device does a automatic backup to a local sd card by default for all my apps and their settings....

I DON'T use outlook on my PC. All my stuff is on my phone. But I do use outlook to create new appointments. When I receive an email that involves a meeting, I typically paste in the details and then sync my phone, which receives the data.
It is also easier to manage contacts with outlook.
I also use Outlook as a backup to my contacts and calendars.
As to why? I prefer to have my information available regardless of network access. On-line means I have to have a data connection available. In my travels I have been to places that do not support T-Mobile or a roaming GSM connection. So my phone has it all... and of course it will sync with my laptop as well.

Well, I intend to have my TP2 for a long while, but after that I may have to decide between Android and WM7. Right now I'm not too big on WM7 because they won't allow customizations to the OS.
this dude obviously didn't take the time to find out the basics of his phone...myphone and a hard reset would have solved his problems in about 5 min...lol...
What's the point?!?!

Thanks for your contribution - you must be a real blast at parties.
If you had nothing useful to add why bother adding anything at all...?
I tried hard reset and it made no difference - stated that above.
I tried myphone - interesting service but I found it a bit slow - also stated above.
If you're the best the WinMo crowd can offer I'm quite glad I've moved on to the Android patch.
To everyone else thanks for your suggestions.

[Q] Help?! 50 contacts limit cant save more then that.

I just noticed that people/contacts can only export 50 contacts from my phone. I noticed this because i saved the same number many times an upon exporting it gives me the 1/50 until it reaches 50/50 contacts exported to sd card, i also created dummy contacts to see if they get saved but they didn't, they showed on phone but trying to export they never show up. Ive lost several numbers that way thinking i was saving them then resetting my phone then importing them back in only to find out never got saved besides the original 50.
I have no clue right now where to start to fix this any one had similar problem that can help?
It may not be the answer or resolution you are looking for but I would highly recommend just syncing your contacts with google. Then you don't even have to worry about it because once you sync them, google will save and restore them with no need for interaction. Automagically if you will

Thats what the sprint rep told me. Rather save personal things offline to do myself. Really thats just a cop out with the price of the phone and its stature of a super phone.
Imagine the 1st landline phone people used and it gives you problems, you write to the company and they write back saying hey at lest you can scream out your window and they will be able to hear you.
he also told me to take it into a sprint store for them to trouble shoot. Now i have to root the phone back and put stock. major hassle. Unless there is a solution i can take to avoid all that. After that most likely i'll get new phone with stock 2.2 that cant be rooted as of yet.
I can tell you that i have never seen your problem before. I'm a tech at Sprint and i have done many contact export and imports, sometimes several hundred contacts and never had a problem unless it was the sd card.
You said that you might take to a Sprint store but will have to unroot and flash to stock first. Before taking it into Sprint, try going back to stock and see if that fixes the issue. Could be a rom issue that no one else is noticing or not reporting with whatever rom you might be running.
Also, thats not really a cop out when people suggest using google to backup your contacts. Thats how the phone was designed to work. If you must have that physical backup, then just backup your contacts to google, then import to outlook. Not the solution you wanted to hear I'm sure, but it's another alternative.

Also, if you just sync with Google, you can export straight from Google into a couple different formats.

Yeah. Google recently changed their whole contacts page, but just go to contacts > More actions > Export... and then just choose all contacts, and the format:
Code:
Google CSV format (for importing into a Google account)
Outlook CSV format (for importing into Outlook or another application)
vCard format (for importing into Apple Address Book or another application)

How to transfert everything and keep apps configured?

Hello all!
Sorry for my noob question
I was an iphone user since iPhone 3GS.
Now I'm on a Note 10+.
So I have transfered everything from my iphone to my note, configured each app (login, mailboxes..).
But, my Note10+ is faulty, so my online retailer send me a new one, and i have to send back the defect one before wednesday.
So I've transfered everything from dead note10+ to new note10+ BUT all of my apps are empty.
I have to redo EVERYTHING ><
Is there a way, without root, to make a 1:1 save of a phone and a 1:1 restore to another phone?
Bug thanks to the one who will give me a solution
PS: sorry for my english, I'm baguette
PPS: I've used SmartSwitch for all my transferts.

I don't use aquamail but my outlook mail restored correctly.
Well that's awkward
I'm making a samsung cloud save, maybe it will help ?
Go to settings account and back up and back up using google and also back up using samsung
Well that's strange...
I've restored again, and some apps are logged (just need to click on "Are you XxX?"), some are logged and nothing to do, and the vast majority are empty.
I've done Samsung save, Google sync, used smartswitch....
Well I've relogged everything manually now, but I hope it's going to be fixed before Note 11 +
By the way, thanks for your help
