[Q] Would this be useful at all to us? - myTouch 4G Accessories

http://www.google.com/products/cata...a=X&ei=R7nuTe3OO4nGsAOBsuz_Bg&ved=0CEYQ8wIwAQ
It would fit, obviously, but would there be any possiblity of using this for doing video out or screen mirroring or anything?

It sure would be cool to be able to play HD video recorded on the phone, on your HDTV at home. The thing is, I don't think the MT4G has the ability to output video through the micro USB. If I'm wrong, that'd be awesome though.

It says Galaxy S. Samsung wired their microUSBs to be able to do this. HTC did not.

They changed it. Yesterday they mentioned several HTC models, that's the OP thought it was relevant to us.

To be honest I didn't really know anything about these cables. I was just wondering if our phones were capable of using these to any capacity.

[Q] TV out???

Is there a TV out function on the Dinc2? Phonearena states that it has TV out function (http://www.phonearena.com/phones/HTC-Droid-Incredible-2_id5173), yet I don't see the TV out cable online. Does the Dinc2 do full mirroring to a TV via the micro usb, like the Dinc1 did?
I just emailed HTC. I will see what they say.
Use the same cable? I have that cable running through my car dash so I can listen to (and watch) Pandora on my Alpine touch screen.
So the incredible2 can be output to a tv then?

Ok. Thank you.
Htc emailed me back with this: "The HTC Incredible 2 supports a feature called Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL). You can find out more about this technology here: http://en.wikipedia.org/ wiki/Mobile_High-definition_Link. At this time, HTC does not manufacture the appropriate cable to support this; however, the option is available."

No way. Seriously? My Inc 2 supports mhl?
I just almost did a backflip.
This makes my phone worth 3 times as much personally.
Off to buy a cable/adapter haha
Its like a hidden feature or something...its not listed on the box nor in the manual.
Ill give this a try in just a few

I don't think there are any mhl cables out in stores yet. I don't think it works with inc1 tv out cable.

There are MHL microUSB to HDMI cables in existence for other devices. I've started searching for one. Supposedly there's one available for Samsung Galaxy S devices that I might try to procure.
How pricey are these cables? I'd try one out we're not sure on if it's not horribly expensive.
Here's one just for proof:
http://www.clove.co.uk/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-i9100-mhl-adaptor
Also found this, but out of stock:
http://www.expansys-usa.com/samsung-mhl-micro-usb-micro-hdmi-adapter-for-galaxy-s-ii-217883/
Good deal. Thanks for the links. Let me know if anyone tries these out. Might have to get this phone if it does. TV out is a great plus.
Sent from my fascinate
Same here, if anyone gets the cable, would they be kind enough to tell us if it works or not? I'm just really looking forward to using emulators on my TV
OG Inc cable does not even fit in the INC2 port. No worky
Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk
We aren't talking about the og inc cables, we are talking about the new mhl cables that are used in such devices as the galaxy s2 and evo 3d. The inc2 has the mhl tech just no cable as of now.

HTC Media Link HD

Who's getting one?
I think it looks awesome, but a little expensive so I had some doubts if I should by it or not.
But now my carrier is providing me one for free because of delayed delivery on my HOX.
Any of you guys getting one?
Will we be able to use it with other phones/tablets?
I really want to use it with my gtab 10.1, so it would be awesome if someone could figure out, maybe porting the app (if its and app) from HOX to other devises.

Yes Im getting one but only because it came free with my One X order. In answer to your questions yes it can be used with other devices.
Ive got the standard media link adapter as well and that works perfectly on my Moto Xoom. If your concerned about the price there are cheaper alternatives that do the exact same thing. Just have a browse on Amazon for DLNA receivers.

The Media Link for the One series is different than the previous HTC Media Links (basically DLNA media players), in that it can mirror what you see on the phone's screen. So it's more like a "smart" wireless HDMI connection, since once you start media playback, it switches to media streaming mode like the old Links, and the phone can be used to do other things without interrupting the video on the TV.
I like the idea of playing a game through this, but there is noticable latency, so no Shadowgun, but Angry Birds would probably work well.

I have a DLNA TV (LG 47LW575S), it is connected to my wireless router. I wonder, if it is possible to connect HOX without a "media link"...
Also, I don't want to have 2 wireless networks in my house.
I'll try to stream media as soon as receive my HOX (just ordered) and post a result here.

I have been using my one x to stream to the ps3. there are various dlna server apps in the market, I personally use BubbleUPnP on my one x. regarding the battery life, well if the screen is off I generally find the battery doesn't go down too quick, even while streaming or on a long call. the display is what seems too suck battery ie: games or browsing the web. anyway id save your money unless you really want to use all your apps on a large display/tv. or buy a mhl to hdmi cable online for a tenner does the same job as the medialink, though wired.

ive just ordered one and the speaker dock as well.
does anyone know if this is actually dnla so other devices would work (such as my pc and my archos 101 tablet), also is there a built in battery in the media link as the specs say there is a "charge cable" - if there is whats the battery life like on that. i hope there is as this would be ideal on my already crowded outlets by my main tv with xbox, wii, bluray, tv, tivo reciver, surround system, cable modem and finally the router.
thanks guys
my understanding was the media link only worked with Sense 4, so not sure its compatible with all devices. It is compatible with all TVs/monitors that have a HDMI port. THe Media Link comes with a built in rechargeable battery which is charged the same way as your phone with a micro usb cable.

Not necessarily. It'd be nice to be able to take this to someone's house, connect it to their tv, and stream a movie or something. Sometimes finding an available outlet in those situations is annoying.

I couldnt agree more. People are reluctant to have you messing with the plugs on their television and peripherals. If you could simply plug into hdmi and watch a movie or two on battery it would be truly portable and much less intrusive if you were to take it to a friends or relatives house.

By the looks of it it seems the Media Link HD itself needs plugging into a power supply. All the videos I've seen of it on YouTube in operation show two cables coming out of it (the HDMI cable and presumably the power cable?). Plus when you look on the Mobile Fun site, it shows two ports on it...a HDMI port and a Micro USB port:

Excellent video mate, is the S3 your main phone these days? I'm sure I remember you doing a similar review on the Galaxy Note, that's what I have although I did get an S3 for the missus and it is tempting, but I'm holding out for the Note 2.
By the way, can you point me in the direction of a relatively cheap bluetooth keyboard and mouse that will work with my Note, but a set that doesn't come with a usb dongle since I want to use the micro usb port on the phone to connect it via MHL to my TV. If that makes sense.

About Effing time Samsung gets this released. And I'm guessing it's gonna be another 3 months before they release the wireless charger, Dock/Cable to simultaneously use MHL and other OTG and the UK release of the MHL adapter tip, I mean massive Firmware delays is typical and expected from Samsung but just don't get why they delaying accessories.
I've been reading that it doesn't generate 1080p even though it says it does...it only outputs in 720p...I heard its very laggy at times...and people were quite disappointed with it...sorry to rain on your parade...
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Demonstration
Works in 1080p
Its works in Full HD contrary to reports on here. It does have a noticable delay of about 1 second so not sure if it will be useful for gaming, but for internet browing, movie watching or productivity use it could be ideal.
I didn't order from mobilefun because I found a much cheaper price than them.

Can anyone tell me if this will work with cm10
Sent from my GT-I9300
To clarify for others. The dongle does need a power supply. It comes with one. It also includes an HDMI cable. You can have mutliple dongles on TVs around the house and the phone lets you choose which one you connect to. However, at this time, you cannot label the dongles with a nice name like "Living Room" and have to use the pre-determined name with numbers instead.
There is some lag depending on the quality of the connection with the phone. You would not want to play FPS with this. I would say the lag was around 100-150ms. Fast panning/moving can result in some visible compression artifacts. Its behaviour seems identical to the HTC Media Link technology. One does not appear better than the other here.
The dongle DOES support 1080p, but the S3 does NOT. This means you will not see anything above 720p. The dongle acts as a mirror of the 720 line phone display EXCEPT when you are playing a video. For video, the phone displays a very dim "Allshare" logo on a black background. You can bring up a video slider to rewind/fast-forward etc but the video itself is only displayed on the TV. Despite having the separate video feed, it is still locked to 720. HTC originally had the idea that you could surf on the phone, check emails while playing a video, but this never actually worked. Samsung haven't even tried to do this...pressing the home button cuts the video feed and returns to mirroring.
My concern is if you play a 90 minute movie like this, will there be screen burn due to the permanent but very dim "Allshare" logo displayed on the screen. There is no way to switch this display off when playing a video. Perhaps because its so dim it doesn't matter, but it seems odd to me.

[Q] Bought a Galaxy S4 Mini - few questions

It won't arrive for a little bit (1saleaday is slow to ship), so I figure I'll ask some questions in the meantime.
Does it support MHL 2.0? I've seen conflicting info, in that some places don't even mention MHL support. And if it's not 2.0, does it require that specific 11-pin Samsung adapter? Selling my HTC One and not sure if I should just include my current 5-pin adapter with it.
Does it work with the Smart Dock like the regular S4 and whatnot? Assuming it works with MHL 2.0, I don't see why it wouldn't work with the Smart Dock.
What kind of sound hardware does it have? I don't suppose its Wolfson...
Does it support exFAT for microSD? I've seen confirmation that it supports 64GB cards at least.
And any idea if it'll have a wireless charging back like for the S4? Don't know if it even supports wireless charging.
I've tried mhl 1.0 and 2.0. Both don't work. Also tried USB OTG also doesn't work.
I have a 64gb micro sd but I can't remember how it's formatted. But definitely works.

Well crap, I was banking on at least regular MHL - are you sure its not the cable you're using (as in, it requires the Samsung specific 11-pin cable)? If not, then I guess GSMarena is wrong (wouldn't be the first time).
