[Q] Questions about Wildfire S NEED HELP - HTC Wildfire S

Am gonna buy Wildfire S soon but am still not sure abt its perfomance cz i havent used even seen it before.
1. Is it easy to copy and paste texts? like what Samsung TouchWiz UI Has?
2. Is it easy to move the pointer text (when texting) ? bcs it doesnt have optical thingy so we have to touch the screen. Can we do drag or we have to touch the screen carefully to touch the text that we want to click (sorry if you get confused, not really good in english)
3. How long is the battery life if i set into WCDMA Only ? Then How about 3G Only ?
4. How about the quality of the speaker?
5. Whats the material used for the body ?
6. Is Wildfire S laggy? Have you got restart suddenly ?
Thanks for answering my question

1. I never test the TouchWiz UI, but it's like iOS, it's easy.
2. You need to touch the screen, isn't hard, but isn't easy at all.
3. Look the web, i test it about a week and without any connection (only 2G) 3 days, with all the connections (GPS, WIFI, 3G) a day or less.
4. Very clean =)
5. Plastic for the battery part, metal for the front part, plastic for the buttons too, but the back plastic is nice is confortable.
6. No, no. Is laggy with games that need a lot of resources.

Thinking of buying...some Qs

Hi guys,
Looking at getting the Touch Pro 2 on SIM free unlocked here in the UK.
This is to replace my broken Alpine XDAIIi and I wondered:
1. Will all my WM2003 IIi software work? Tomeraider, EReader Pro, Wikipedia etc...
2. How close is the Android port - sounds exciting if it is.
3. Does Flash work well? Especially on sites like MySpace musicians stuff.
4. Is the processor fast enough - I think it's the same as Alpine. I was considering the HD2 but obviously is more expensive.
5. Can you still use a stylus with it as with a IIi?
6. Anyone know if there are equivalents to musician's apps like on the 3GS - e.g. guitar tuner, player, 4-track recorder etc.
7. How much data do you typically downlload ona 3G phone - I need to get some kind of plan from O2.
Point 6 points to the fact that I am slightly attracted to the iPhone but possibly only the 4G when it comes out.
Any help or comments appreciated!
M
I'll wager that some of you know one or two answers...?
1. Yes, they're compatible.
2. It's half-working. I wouldn't prefer it.
3. Flash works if you install it, however it's not smooth enough for me.
4. Fast enough for what? The Sense 2.1 works smooth, Sense 2.5 is a bit too hungry for memory imho. Fast enough for me.
5. Yes!
6. Don't know.
7. Depends on how I use the phone
Go get Rhodium, it's the best HTC device with keyboard up to date.

OK thanks for that.
Am I right that WM 6.5 is the end of the line for TP2? Possibly only the HD2 will make it to WM7...?
Also can you use the stylus with HD2?

Officially Windows 7 will be only for the Leo but that will last about 2 minutes around here when the chefs dismantle it and recook it into custom roms. If you want Windows 7 on an older device, it will be here first.

[Q] fb15 or fb17 (bug thread)

awwwwww yeah im happy ics is coming to our phone , but im skeptical to try a "leak" so i just wanted to get feedback from people running either and find out what does or doesnt work , how battery life is , and really just ask people how they are liking it ...
Here is some that I found and will post more later.
Things I have found not working so far on the new FB17:
1. If you swipe a contact left or right does not do messaging or calling, unless you are in messaging, works fine.
2. Battery percentage does not work. (most of the Time).
3. Signal meter is way off, no signal good call quality, and fast internet.
4. Hit the clock and you cant set the alarm anymore
5. Hot spot and tether. (obviously)
6. Cannot reinstall all from titanium.
7. No cwm.(again obviously).
8. usb is not the same, (have to use old way).
9. in applications there is no alphabetical grid. Unless your in list mode it doe has no alphabetical order.

dude, there are all sorts of threads here on this exact topic; maybe you should just read through them instead of starting ANOTHER thread on the same topic???

Decided to go with Note II instead of the Nexus 4, just some questions

Tired of the wait and the reviews coming back that the battery isn't all that great compared to the Galaxy Nexus (which I have and totally sucks haha).
1. I saw a screen shot with on screen buttons, is this a ROM feature or something that can be flashed?
2. Currently I don't think any ROM has multiwindow and wifi calling together but when the official multiwindow update comes out, we should see both features included in a ROM right?
3. I saw the phone in person and it was just HUGE. I don't mind the physical size but everything on the screen just looked big, like it was blown up. Is there anyway to include more on the screen?
4. If i install a launcher (Apex Launcher), will I lose any S-Pen features?

1. Not that I know of.
2. Yes.
3. You will get used to the size in a week. after a week I felt the pone was perfect and other phones felt like toys. especially my old 4S.
4. Not at all.
If rooted you can add the following line to your build.prop to get the on screen navigation buttons
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0

1) see post above
2) yes. It is possible now with wildchild's XquiziT rom, flash v4 set up wifu calling, flash v6 for multi Window. Just dont wipe between fladhes and u get both.
3) set text size to small helps.
4) only thing you lose is page buddy and to me its annoying anyway.
thanks for the replies. i'm gonna drop by T-Mobile today to check it out again before the Cyber Monday sale ends.

Note 2 - a few annoyances (coming from a Nexus)

I only just recently got my Note II and it has got ARHD on it, which I installed because it's a rom based on samsung software with no comptability issues and great battery life.
I also have a Galaxy Nexus and I noticed a few "problems" the Note 2 has and the older Nexus doesn't:
the browser on the Note 2 looks okay but the pointer precision is just very bad. To give an example: if you swipe your finger up or down vertically for a few centimeters, and then you start sliding diagonally (without having lifted off your finger off the screen in the meanwhile), it will only continue to keep scrolling vertically, it won't "follow" your left or right (or diagonal) movement. When you lift off your finger from the screen, retouch it and then scroll diagonal right away it will follow the movement. I find this very annoying, it prevents me of having a smooth browsing experience. My older Nexus with stock android 4.2.2 and stock browser is smooth as butter and follows my swiping movements 1 to 1..
I tested Dolphin browser, Maxthon.. all still bad pointer precision.. Chrome seems to be the least bad of all the browsers, but then on the other hand I find it very choppy.
PS. I already tried an AOSP/CM rom (Sentinel ROM), and there the browser was smooth, yet, non-touchwiz roms are not bugfree and the battery life is nowhere as good as with a samsung based rom.. And especially that last factor is really important to me. (Unless anyone can advise me a bugfree AOSP rom with batterylife that is as good as a samsung based rom).
SOLVED, SOLUTION IN POST #15
Then something else that annoys me quite a bit: when the screen is off and I press the wakebutton, it takes like 1 to 2 seconds until it actually wakes.. I've read I'm not the only one with this problem but I find it kind of unacceptable for a quad core phone with 2GB of ram.. Same problem when you are in an application and you press the homebutton to go to the homescreen, it sometimes takes like a second or more too.. Once again, stuff like that on my simple dual core nexus with half the amount of ram doesn't happen.
UNDERLINED PART SOLVED, SOLUTION IN POST #3 (thanks Kremata)
Then the good stuff has to be said too: homescreen-scrolling is insanely smooth, watching videos is awesome, the camera is great (so is the samsung camera app) and not to forget, the battery life is a revelation to me, I get through the day easily with hardcore use of the phone (that cannot be said of my old Nexus..).
I really like the Note II, but these few problems really crash the party for me.. Also I never thought I'd say it as a Nexus-fan but I generally find Touchwiz pretty cool and suiting on the Note 2.. So I'd prefer to stay on a samsung based rom like ARHD if possible.
Hope there's some experts here who can give me advise on how to handle these little problems.
For the record, I managed installing the AOSP browser, and the bug is still there. So it must be rom/kernel related, not app-related..
The HOME button problem is not a bug. It is because you have set your S-voice to open by double pressing the Home button. So the lag comes from TW waiting for a second press before doing anything.
Just uncheck "Open via the Home Key" in S-voice setting.
For the browser thing I don't know. I never felt it was a problem for me.

One problem solved already, thanks for that!
I placed a video of the pointing precision problem on youtube. Btw I checked if the touchscreen is ok by using "show touches", and it followed my touches 100% perfectly, so it's not the phone, it's definitely some software problem..
This is the video
Could anyone with a samsung-based rom try to reproduce the above problem and see if it happens or not ? If not, could you tell me what rom + kernel you are using, would be much appreciated..
I repeat that when I tried an AOSP rom on my Note II, this issue did not happen.
I'm on DLL4 and before this was on 4.1.1 and do not have this issue.

Could you give me more information on DLL4 ? Maybe a link to such rom, etc. How is your battery life ?
PS. I have the international (european) version.

I have the exact same thing on my phone (ARHDv18). A work around is to start with a diagonal instead of a vertical line then it works fine

Thanks, I'll sleep a bit better now tonight
Yes I know.. but it's very annoying.. Since years I used stock android/AOSP, now I went to the dark side P) to use a TW device, so this "problem" kind of annoys me.. I wonder if one of our awesome developers would be able to make a samsung based TW rom with an AOSP-like smooth browsing experience..

I just realized this problem. I'm using Crash ROM, and sometimes it will happen like in the video, but sometimes it work perfectly.
So weird that I seem to be the first one remarking this problem as imo it's quite annoying, and I'm definitely not alone here.

You must be more picky than most of us as I never noticed this before either.

You don't forget the good stuff of stock android! But the samsung rom has some pretty cool features too..
HOORAY.
With "Chrome Beta" the swiping "bug" is not present! /me happy
Now my Note 2 is "perfect"

[Q] Grand TouchScreen freak

Hi there, have been reporting such a strange behaviour on my device recently, TouchScreen is working very bad....when I try to drag and drop icons, play apps where touch should be kept long time, or messaging when a key should be pressed for more than just a single touch....
it fails and it read the input into multiple, single, short time inputs.
In other words it's getting always harder to long-press a key button, in whatever the command is.
Have already done the Screen Benchmark but no bugs or faults have been reported.
I have to say that I have noticed this kind of frustrating freak when "upgrading" from stock default ROM (4.1.2 ---> 4.2.2) to custom ROMS (4.4.4 et al.).
Need a kind advice about what is better to do, if go downgrading (and a good link quote would be apppreciated) or whatever else.
My Grand duos never had "accidents" or bad crashes at all.
Will be very grateful for help, because I need it daily for job reasons.
Thank you all in advance. My best regards. T90

I experience touch jumpiness from time to time, 99% while browsing. This was reported before, and i believe 3 people claimed that it was something to do with the flip cover. Do you experience this with no flip/cover or no back cover at all? ( i knoe this sounds silly lol)
Edit: ah,Sunil overtook me in answering lol. Yup that's the thread I am talking about.
May be a faulty screen guard problem... check that too..
Desperate TouchScreen
Hello guys, and thank you all for your fast and different answers.......yes I have always used a Back Silicone cover since having bought my device, but experienced all these faulty behaviuor just recently (last 3-4 months, always getting worse), today I put it into my pocket without back cover for the very first time ever, but nothing changed xD
About the chargers, I have always used different models with same Out Voltage 5V and mA (generally 0.7 or 1 mA) just for needed charging time, rarely for the entire night.
Thank you also for prompting me to the other thread, but still no drastic solution found.
I also forgot to say that recently, and sometime, not every time (oh what a miracle!), camera starts capturing multiple (and not asked) photo shoots when I run it, this feature always referring to the original question I made here on this forum (display jumps)......
Damn it feels like there's somebody invisible next to me that push onto my display compulsively.
So I desperately ask you all mates, in a last chance before.......before.......(yeah you meant it but I won't tell you, yet xD) to suggest me here or in a PM a good and reliable guide to flash/wipe/restore/BURN everything on my device and take it to a factory hard reset and, of course, go downgrading it.
Thank you for your precious cooperation!
