[Q] Does Desire HD A9191 get 3G on TMOUS?? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Couldn't find an answer for this question sorry. I am thinking of buying the Desire HD A9191 but I want to make sure I will get at least 3G here in San Diego on T-Mobile. Thanks in advance for some assistance.

Sorry but no. You'll only be able to manage EDGE. the sensation 4g is right around the corner I would suggest that.

desire hd a9191 model quad band 3G
Actually I believe this specific desire HD will get 3g on tmous they claim the a9191 model to be quad band 3G not just quad band GSM... and also say works with all carriers T-Mobile is listed so I would imagine u *#*#4636#*#* and then hit menu select bands then T-Mobile US then the correct radio and or ril...T-Mobile EU is in list too... it may depend on where you are located, I'm in DC and I knew someone who got H 3G on euro milestone on T-Mobile using that method and that phone has the 900/2100mhz, I held a sensation today and it has less ram and is 100% plastic and the screen is narrower... I'm with thus Guy on an a9191 Desire HD with the full unibody aluminum housing.. the phone is so nice I went and got the att version unlocked so its an inspire 2G now and am rocking edge (the E is such an ugly site someone make a theme that replaces edge icon with 4G just to trick my mind lol) just cause its worth the trade offphone if u wondering why i think this device rockd u probly have only used on sense ui rom its all about great its the combo of a perfectly tuned CM7.1 with this amazing device... but yea trying to get some confirmed info also on the a9191 version ofcourse ill get it and it will end up working but then some **** like att will own T-Mobile then and the stupid inspire will get 3G/4G anyway... why is it that the phone u want never offered by your carrier... if someone can confirm this please do thanks

This model is not quadband 3g. T-Mobile USA runs on1700/2100 for 3g . This model uses 900/2100. So their is a chance you might be able to pick up 3g, but it depends what frequency they are using in your specific area. If they use 1700 in SD then your stuck on edge if they use 2100 then you'll get 3g.
But like I recommended the sensation 4g is right around the corner. With that your guaranteed 3g comparability plus a better screen, dual core
Sent from my TARDIS using XDA App

I automatically shot down the quadband 3G stated on this a9191 model desire HD... but in several sited places to purchase the phone it clearly states quadband 3G not quadband GSM like everyother device... it also says worldwide 3G will work on any carrier...
The sesnsation is not a worthy replacement for this device... like I said above its all plastic yes its dual core but has less ram... ram is much more needed then a second core when the single is overclocked to 1.5ghz its stupid fast and will use half the battery that the sensation will... the screen is narrowed and stretched on sensation... I prefer the square brick style of the dhd... sensation may be out in a day or too but if not getting contract or upgrade price on it why bother if dhd a9191 will get hsdpa on tmous... sensation is $550 off contract dhd $400 to $550 and all the development is done for dhd already... no waiting for working perm root s-off and engineering bootloader... I know where I am in DC I've seen a euro 900/2100 milestone get hsdpa here... so I'm good even if it turns out to not be quad band 3G.. but have clearly read that this specific dhd is able to pull hsdpa from any carrier worldwide... its unbranded and sold as unlocked only by websites there is not carrier tied to this device.... yes in the past getting 3G in us and worldwide was not an option but think how long could that remain as a worldwide industry standard... there's phones listed comming out for T-Mobile that show both T-Mobile and att 3g bands on a single device... clearly as technology keeps up at its current rate its not hard to believe that this day may have finally come upon us with woldwide 3G... ofcourse there's no advertising for these devices as then carriers wouldn't be able to sell contracts.... think about the GSM evo 3D comming soon.... wtf is that all about and what good would it be if it didn't have this same technology that is supposedly wrapped up in this very similar desire HD of the specific a9191 part# no other phone on any of the sites selling that model say will get 3G worldwide on any carrier T-Mobile aswell as at&t and many others are listed... and I also knew someone that had a UK tmobile G1 and came to visit here in states and upon getting off plane he had edge connection.. so called T-Mobile and was told to switch to US 3G Band by dialing *#*#4636#*#* and he did this and his UK G1 dream connected on 3G... so if u like the inspire 4G, the Thunderbolt, desire HD, evo 4G or. 3D because of the physical appearance or heavy/ solid/metal feel then u will not like the 100% plastic htc sensation... yes that's a nice feature of sensation to be able to change housing as fast as removing batt cover so u will not need any protection as if u drop sensation and screw it up u will be able to buy new entire exterior housing for under $20 on eBay....the only thing giving the sensation any wieght is the battery and the thick contoured tempered digitizer glass... it is not a worthy substitute for a nand flashed HD2 that's been done properly... and the stock sense 3.0 with all apps killed on sensation gives only 113mb ram.. that cpus will not be able to make up for that serious lack of ram... it is not 768mb like dhd or tbolt it must be like 620mb cause its only displaying Max in 530mb range so once again the pre spec sheets lie or the ppl reviewing these devices are retarded and can't take a minute to download a simple app that displays the actual hardware specs... its ridiculous... this isn't rocket science anyone reviewing a device for a forum should have atleast 1/2 a brain to catch these hyped up inaccurate pre release guess specs... its bull**** u put 1gb ram in your PC it displays 1024mb ram so how come when they say we have 768mb ram on phone it actually shows 620mb wtf? Here's screen shot of my inspire 4G Max available ram... I used same method to check sensation and it shows 530mb so how do both devices have 768mb.... (yes its an HTC inspire despite the moto blur look) http://db.tt/KQWMtT7

Maybe I answered my own question on the ram discrepency says now in free memory widget maximum amount of mem for users applications... I'm gonna guess that the missing 148mb is dedicated entirely to the system rom and apps and is never displayed... still doesn't really make much sense though cause if 238mb is pre designated to system on htc sensation then what is using up over 400mb after closing all background apps with atk? Sense UI 3.0 has gotta be one of the heaviest stock roms ever... junk .....if u want **** to look like sense use cm7.1 and make it look like sense or blur whatever... no excuse or good reason at all to use any rom that is not vanilla or cm based as your just killing your own android experience that is ofcourse if its an option for your device.... HD2 CM7.1 runs 100 times better then sensation on sense 3.0 and gets about same download speeds....hd2 little slower on speed test... 6000kbps vs 7000kbps and now that rom manager supports HD2 that was last feature needed to be equal to an official android device... if u have T-Mobile and want a fully modable HTC 4.3" there's your device.... HTC HD2 with nand flashed CM7.1 even with less ram then sensation has 150mb more free avail then sensation with no Widgets on screens.,..
Mardsta or whatever u answered dude first with no u will only get edge period.. then after hearing what I had to say u have changed your answer to yes maybe depending on your area... so r u just pissing in the wind? Clearly u have not actually taken the a9191 Device and tried to get 3G on tmous with it... so ur just guessing away and passing it off as fact.... if you do not know the answer 100% for sure don't act like it as it only make finding the correct info that much harder...

I actually did read both your responses even though long winded. In part you were right about my first answer. I had forgotten that in some places tmo will use the 2100 frequencies. They tend to use the 1700. Simple mistake.
I have used this model in question in the Los Angeles area. Not once did I pick up 3g on att or T-Mobile.
As to the sensation I offered it as a suggestion. You may not like it " maybe the open will. So get off your high horse. The dual core is actually more effiicient and battery friendly. Its the beauty of progress.

U r fulla **** u never tried with that model desire hd a9191

Wow, didn't mean to start such a pissing match guys. I ended up getting the Sensation and I love it. Who needs 3G, I now have 4G. This phone is amazing!
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App

My bro just scouped one up (a9191) on Craig's list NYC and previous owner said would get 3G in queens but not Manhattan... hopefully not fulla****... currently trying everything possible to get it to work in NJ right outside Manhattan.... well see what happens...

Telus TP2 specs and release date

Anyone have a clue when the TP2 worldphone is due for Telus?
Also, will the front camera be included in the phone? I know in the past the vga cam was removed since CDMA did not support the dual use of phone and data at the same time, but the HSPA network under way (probably one of the reasons they are getting CDMA+HSPA antennas in this phone) it would make sens that they keep the front cam since HSPA supports video calls.
thanks.
just officially announced
Looks like the this week/next week predictions may actually be true.
yup, I kinda stopped posting here but there has been a lot going on with news about this. I also saw a forum posting (lost the link) from a telus employee saying that he got the SNAP dummy phones in today (July 14th).
I wonder what the exact specs are for the GSM antenna. Apparently it will have quad-band edge but no news on what bands the HSPA is going to be on (if at all...).
I know this is the snap and not the tp2, but it could give us an idea of what to expect. the full specs were just posted for the snap.
http://www.htcwiki.com/page/Telus+SNAP good news, full quad-band gsm and edge... now we just hope the tp2 will have hspa on top of that.
seems the telus version will also have a 3.5mm jack as well as geotaging automatic when taking pictures and dual band UMTS (900 and 2100) but no news on the telus HSPA bands yet (which is on the 1900 band)
2100 HSPA, no bellus HSPA for us
I have called 4 telus stores this week. 2 didn't know anything about the launch of the tp2? 1 said his manager played with one a short time ago at a conference and it was a sweet phone but had no idea when it would be available. The last store told me they have not mentioned anything about this phone at there meeting this week so she believed it isn't going to be here for a while yet as all new phones are discussed a couple of weeks before arival. In short it appears everyone knows that the tp2 is coming to telus except people who work at telus. Ha

I've just noticed that according to Bestbuy, TELUS HTC TP2 doesn't have GPS antenna ... I don't think we should trust this website
And it seems they've gotten a few things on best buy
they switched the rom and ram sizes
they put the cdma 3G speeds as cpu speed, and no mention of gsm
1000 limit for phone book entires
and the number of display lines is 5
and no mention of the camera in the specifications but it is mentioned in the overview and they mention it has a flash...
got to love product descriptions at times.

I didn't even notice those mistakes ... Anyway, I wish the GPS will be unlocked. It was locked for the Telus touch pro (1)
Well, on the Telus coming soon page they have this for the touch pro2
Available services*
* Email
* TELUS Navigator
* TELUS Portal by Pocket Express®
* TELUS mobile TV™
* Wireless web
So the gps won't be hidden like in some phones. Though I guess if they were really greedy and mean spirited they could make it only visible/available to the Telus navigator, but that seems like it'd be truly excessive.
oh no, what would we ever do? (say the people on the XDA forum; best place to get custom roms )
but ya I agree with hoping its unlocked out of the box. I think that bestbuy employee should be fired. we should demand that the specifications be met lol
I went into telus after work today to see if they had a TP2 in stock or at least tell me when they would have one. The sale girls didn't know anything about the phone but see did search to see if any where in transit, NO and then how many where in warehouse, NONE.
She said that if they got the phone before Telus actually gets it, that it would be the first time Best Buy ever got a phone before the carrier. ( don't know if that is true but it make sense )
Still waiting, I'm hoping this thing comes out in Canada before the firestone comes out in Europe so I won't second guess my choice.
512 RAM'd be smashing, but 288 for rom'd suck
800 and 1900mhz for cpu would be amazing (horrible battery life)
but if you wanted to fire anybody, it should be for the stretched picture of the TP2. It looks SQUARE!!!!!!
And firehound. Don't second guess yourself. There's always something better round the corner. Does the TP2 suit your current needs? That's the issue at hand. Sure, the Cortex A8 and A9 and Tegra phones will be capable of great stuff... but how long before good games taking advantage of those features and that can be properly played on a cell come out? For example, that zombie augmented reality game for a tegra device looks absolutely brilliant but I think it'd only be fun if it was multiplayer in my opinion (I'd feel a right fool wandering around a table by myself or while others watched for any prolonged period of time), and multi-player's gonna take a while. Same with connectors and stuff. After all, how long has it taken HTC to imlement 3.5mm as a standard? And who knows if the Snapdragon chips will have the same driver issues as the current gen (yes, they've been observed to be really snappy, but running the current software, not software trying to truly take advantage of them).
Sorry to be dense ...
Is the Telus TP2 CDMA or GSM ? I've seen conflicting info...
Basically, I'm trying to decide where to purchase a TP2 from ...
I live in the US and I'm an AT&T subscriber, but hate with they did with the 'FUZE" keyboard...and wonder if they will screw up the TP2.
I've seen the T-Mobile version, and I'm not a fan of the color ... but I could live with that.
I'm tempted to get the European version ... but would like to use 3G in the US.
Telus ? It looks fairly untampered with.

Telus is a CDMA World Phone.
The way I see it, it's primarly a CDMA phone with a SIM card that allow you to roam on GSM network.
Now the question is which band will it support. Nothing official yet so it may not support the 850/1900mhz 3G-HSDPA requierd for 3G+ speeds on ATT
Well looook at that.
Specs, price and etc are official!
http://www.telusmobility.com/en/QC/htc_touchpro2_t7379/index.shtml
Notice the UMTS/HSDPA is only 2100mhz. So no luck for 3G/HSDPA on ATT. I believe this would work on T-Mobile network.
3G EVDO Rev A (800/1900 MHz), UMTS/HSPA (2100 MHz), GSM/ EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
I'm surprised that they didn't include the Telus 3G bands. Oh well...

Desire to ATT?

BGR seems to think so. I'm SO getting one if it's true.
YYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. I never liked the htc sense but is gaining on me so much. Just waiting for the first one on AT&T's 3g. The nexus one I will put htc sense on for sure and the Desire I will root it so I can CHANGE from sense to stock android. Anybody's strategy for the first htc android phone on AT&T?

i want the desire. i like the sense UI and would rather have it on the device instead of using ROMs.
part of me wants the nexus, so updates are always out.. but there's always xda XD.
oh no! what if I buy an att desire for t-mobile, will I get 3g?
Oh please Heavenly Lord don't give such a beast to such a undeserving network! Let them stick with the iphone.
And to the above you will get 2G only!!!
Down with AT&T!!!!
This phone should come to T-Mobile since they need an exclusive phone (the nexus one doesn't count because of that lame arse plan you have to get) that is really good.
Stick with your iPhone AT&T. You need the fanboys going over to you and let the "real" carriers get the Android phones.
I thought Tmobile was getting this phone??
I don't see why everone is dogging AT&T? ya i'm not in love with the carrier or iphone. In fact i'm one the biggest iphone haters alive, but AT&T is the only service where I get 3g and it is FAST. T-MOBILE gets edge at best on the nations 3rd largest carrier. I know AT&T doesn't get good service in some big cities but the best option for me and my area within a 250 mile rdaius. You should be excited att id getting an droid phone, but of course att will some how screw with android with some yahoo android apps or something.
Desire!
This is most likely my next device. I am so glad to see that AT&T saw fit to get a real HTC with great specs. I have been anxiously awaiting which HTC device was coming my way. There is no way I was going to settle for the Backflip! They may also be getting the Sony Ericcson X10 which is also a nice device, but in my opinion nothing compared to the Desire. The confirmed Dell mini 3 is not even a consideration, but the mini 5 would definately have my attention. Cant wait to hear a release date, I know what I'm getting myself for my Bday in May if the release date works out.

Your carrier fanboyism aside, I don't want an iphone. I can't switch to T-mobile. Know why? Because there's no T-mobile 3G where I live.
Millions of americans are in the same predicament, and choices are usually limited 1 or 2 carriers. For east Orlando, that means VZW or AT&T. Hence, despite T-mobile's awesome prices and great phones (I wanted an N1, HD2 and an N900, guess whose network they only work with?), there's an important reason why they're still #4- they keep avoiding us. So piss off...
That said, I want an N1 or Desire... hurry up AT&T!!!

I don't think it'd make a whole lot of sense for TMo to get both the Nexus One (which they're rumored to get - subsidized on-contract, not the unlocked version) and the Desire; they're basically the same hardware...
I want this on tmobile so bad. i love tmobile
Will the desire with its current specification run on at&t 3G network? I noticed the 850 band is only labeled GSM, while the 900/2100 is labeled HSDPA.
In this column, he mentions it will only run on 2G in the states.

No. Need to wait for a US version otherwise the best you'll get is edge.
Lol, I have AT&T and I'll stay with them only if I can't get this phone with Verizon.
Problem is, AT&T drops lots of my calls, somewhere in the neighborhood of 5% around town and as high as 20% where I live. They seem fine other wise. When i'm traveling to other areas, life is good with them. Their devices work internationally and I can talk and surf at the same time. When I'm near my home which isn't a rural area at all, drop drop drop.

Or find some way to get an unlocked one from Telstra Austrailia, they'll be rolling out the Desire next month. They run an 850Mhz 3G network and as with their 850Mhz Touch HD, their 850Mhz Desire should work on AT&T as well.

Help with Evo 4G in Europe

Hey Guys I have a question...
I'm from Europe - Romania more specifically and I'd like to buy an EVO...Saw some good offers on Ebay ...but ...there's the sliding screen/light leeking issue...What if I buy a faulty device ? I'm not willing to spend over 500 $ on a bad phone - although at the moment, I Really Really want it and considering that I'm a student...it's a big investment for me...Is there a possibility to know what I'm buying ? What should I do ? Thanks
Are there any 4G networks in your area that run on the WiMax frequency supported by the Evo? If not, and you are just looking for a 4.3" Android device, the Motorola Droid X is launching stateside on June 23rd.

Well,no,we don't have 4g here, only 3 or 3.5 g...but it's ok...I'm not after the 4g feature,I just want the phone and by the way do you think it will work with a sim card ? cause we don't have CDMA here, just GSM...It would be nice if I could know where to buy an unlocked Evo that will last ) at least 2 or 3 years...I also bought a new Touch Pro 4 months ago and paid 400$ for it and I don't wanna make a bad investment in buying a useless phone.Know what I mean ?

Evo doesn't have sim card slot on it.. so unlocked or locked.. there is no way you can use it there.. you are better of buying any phone offer by t-mobile or att, which are GSM.
Omg ...So..then the Evo is out of the way ...FU Sprint ! Thanks for sharing the non-gsm feature or otherwise I would of done a really bad deal...

Unfortunately, I don't think the Droid X has a SIM card either. Which I find strange... I was under the impression that all of Verizon's smartphones were going to be world phones after the Storm.
WiMAX (4g Network) in US, Australia, Canada, Russia, South Korea ....
work on 2.5 GHz. So all phone you see today on market where is so called wimax phones or 4g phones work on 2.5 GHz and can work in any of this regions.
In Europe there are also 4G networks for example in Romania (Radiocom has wimax network in Bulgaria Maxtelecom in Serbia VeratNet etc..) but all of that 4g networks are on 3.5 GHz not on 2.5 GHz. So it is not compatibile.
Desire HD?
It's a European 4.3" HTC Android phone. Has a aluminum unibody shell, a better CPU, a much better GPU, and 100% more RAM. I don't think it has a FFC but otherwise it's much better than the EVO. Hell, I wish it was on Sprint.

Desire HD is indeed very good phone. If I am on market today (in Europe) I would buy Desire HD or Nexus S they are both awesome phones and will work in Europe without problem.
Both of this phones are 3G/HDSPA/Edge phones and they are not WiMAX (4G phones). There are few WiMAX 4G phones today on market wich you can use in Australia/USA/Canada/Korea/Russia and not in Europe. The only difference is frequency for 4G 2.5 Ghz insted of 3.5 Ghz and that is very sad. In Spain there is Clearwire operator (this one from US) www.clearwire.es but they don't have same frequency for this 4G in Europe they work on 3.5 Ghz.

[Q] Looking to purchase the Desire Z

I am coming from a WinMo 6.1 AT&T Tilt (TYTN II) I bought it about 2 years ago and it has the Dutty Series ROM. Good phone but it just doesnt keep up on the web. Been through a bind with the screen absorbing some water but replaced it and it back to normal. I am looking at the Desire Z but I see on Ebay that a lot of G2 are being passed off as Z's. I know the main difference is the ROM available, One has 1.5GB and the other supposedly has 4GB, that is of no importance to me as I will be purchasing a 16GB microSD card. How does the HTC Sense feel to you guys? Is it worth it?
I was aiming for the Win7 platform but its such a new interface, I fear it will have bugs and as usual, the end-user is going to be the tester and have to deal with the bugs. I was pointed towards the Desire Z by a friend who had it and loved it but had to change carriers and couldn't take the phone with him.
What is the opinion of the forum of G2 and the Z. Is it better to go with one or the other? I absolutely need the keyboard. My fingers do not fair well with an on-screen keyboard. The other thing I would like to do is use it in The States but also have capability in Europe, specifically Greece as I fly back and forth periodically. Would the bands work between the two countries both on 2G and 3G networks? I don't cruise on the net a whole bunch because of my current phone, but I am hoping to change that with the new purchase.

Hi there, sorry to see you've had no response to your questions, I can't really answer as to which is best of the two, but I can tell you that I have owned the desire z for a few weeks now and like yourself, I must have a physical qwerty board as I can't get on with on screen keyboards very well. The desire z is a great handset, it's quick enough, smooth enough, has enough room for apps, and I actually quite like sense, when I first had my HTC desire about a year ago when they first came out, I couldn't have tried harder to get sense off of it, and have had a stream of "bare bones" android phones since. I have to say that having sense on it now has bought a few real bonuses to the table that I'd shrugged off before. Granted, its been improved on the z now, and as a result I would say that imho its better have now than not.
The memory is the same on both. Check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#The_Missing_2GB
If you are with a network that has 4G or are likely to change networks in the foreseeable future then get the G2 to make use of it, if that is not an issue then the DZ would suffice as that is the only difference. But check what bands each phone supports before you make a decision pal.
I am pretty sure the G2 and Desire Z have exactly the same download and upload speed, except the G2 doesn't come with Sense by default and operates on 1700/2100 frequencies. Bell's Desire Z will get 3G on AT&T but I think it has the 2100 band removed so it may not get 3G in Europe.

I came from the Tytn II also -- the only thing I regretted (at first) was not being able to use my considerable collection of bought Windows Mobile 6 software, but I was screwed anyway since WinMo 7 wasn't going to be backwards compatible. So now I'm an android geek, and loving it.
Desire Z is an amazing phone.

Yeah Greece runs on 900/1800 & 2100 for 3G....So I need to maybe buy a phone with these specs. Perhaps I can get lucky and buy it from a UK website cheaper. They want close to $750 for it in a retail store of Greece.
One other question....I am searching for A7272 which is the international version HTC Desire Z. I was looking through some auctions and the Desire Z / G2 say that they have a S-LCD display....when searching for A7272, the sellers claim that the screen is AMOLED....Is there truth to this?

It's not AMOLED, it's S-LCD. But it's a very good display.
Which networks do you want your phone to run on ? Here's a summary of which 3G bands the G2/DZ versions operate on (note that you can *not* change this via a radio update, it's set in hardware) :
G2 - Bands IV(1700) and I (2100).
Desire Z - Band I (2100) and Band VIII (900).
Bell Desire Z - Band II (1900) and Band V (850) - same bands as AT&T uses in the US.

Well I absolutely need the 900/2100 (2G / 3G respectively for Greece) because I spend a good chunk of time there. As far as the US is concerned, I run on T-Mobile there. Worst case scenario, I'll keep my TYTN II for use in the States.

Note that both machines have nearly identical hardware. They BOTH have 4GB physical RAM however this is permanently partitioned at the factory so that approx 2GB is usable. There are threads on this board that discuss this at length. Upshot is that we have 2GB effective RAM in both the Desire Z and the G2.
So I am poking around the net...I found that the G-2 from T-Mobile has Quad Band and UMTS for 1700/2100....Greece runs on 900/1800 GSM & UMTS 2100...Big question is...whats the difference between buying a Desire Z and a G2. I am looking at about a $150 gap in the price....Is the UI different? Hardware different? Screen? Some people are saying theirs has a TFT...others say LCD....even found one that said AMOLED (which I KNOW is wrong)
It looks like the G2 will run in Greece...but I don't care too much for that Google Interface...Can I drop that UI and put something else? Can I load up HTCSense and still register the G2 on the site and have those options or is that strictly a Desire Z option?

The only real difference are the radio bands (fixed in hardware, you can't change it) and the hardware keyboard layout. They do come with different ROMs, Sense on the DZ and without Sense on the G2. Same screens (S-LCD), same memory, same everything else.
Yes, you can flash a Sense ROM onto a G2 or vice versa. If you have a Sense ROM you should be able to use HTCSense.com (though that functionality is not finished yet by HTC).
I recommend you choose your phone based on the radio band support. You can easily change to a different ROM if you want to. So I think you need a DZ based on the radio bands (DZ in Europe has Band I - 2100, and Band VIII - 900 ; the G2's band 1700/2100 is a different band, Band IV).
I have a brand new desire z I bought for my girlfriend but she doesn't like it and wants an Iphone (go figure) I will sell to you if you want?

No offense Sparacis, but because it is a high amount of money for a product. I want to purchase it online with a little bit of protection. Just in case something happens. I hope you understand.
perfectly understandable no offense taken. Just thought I would throw it out there.

It's S-LCD which is a type of P-VA which is a type of (TFT-)LCD.
Clear?
I upgraded from the Tilt2 to the Desire Z, and was completely blown away at how much better this phone is. Switching from the 3 year old Tilt to the DZ is going to absolutely blow your mind. You will not want to use your old Tilt anymore after you upgrade, trust me (except as an emergency backup device).
As steviewevie mentioned, you should pick the version that has the radios you need, since this is a hardware thing, and can't be changed. The software is completely changeable. You can always flash a Sense ROM onto the G2. Sounds like you need to buy either a Euro Desire Z or the T-Mob G2, depending on which will give you 3G in the country you spend the most time in.
Also, Sense is really just an enhancement to Android. Lots of elements of the Android OS still remain. And lots of what Sense does, can be accomplished with third party apps and homescreen widgets. So you can alway try that route, if you decide to get a G2 and are gun shy about ROM flashing.
I agree that Windows Phone 7 is too new an OS to invest in at the moment. App support is going to be slow to build up steam. It took Android the better part of 2 years before the app market really started reaching critical mass. And it really remains to be seen whether WP7 can really survive in the current smartphone environment. MS really has a tough fight in front of them if they want to prove themselves a viable competitor to Apple and Android.
Bottom line, if the hardware keyboard is a must, the Desire Z/G2 is the best phone around right now. You won't be disappointed if you buy it.

The HD2 specs are somewhat behind those of the Vision, and my understanding is an Android port is never going to run as well as a phone that runs it natively (but not speaking from experience on the HD2 specifically). And I hate to admit it, but WM6 is dead and needs to be buried. I don't miss it for a second. If the Desire HD is a available in your market, I can see that as a strong option. Otherwise, the Vision does not have many legitimate contenders right now.

4G coming to the UK, will my HTC One X get those speeds?

For those of you who live in the UK, you may of heard recently that 4G is finally coming to the UK on the Orange and TMobile UK networks very soon. My question is will my HTC One X be able to receive the 4G signal?
EDIT: Apparently not as the hardware isn't in the phone to connect to 4G
If i'm totally honest, i'm not to bothered. HSPA is MORE than enough for me.
Nope.
That's why the One XL was released in USA for the 4G network there.
Actually, looks like the Asia/Aus version of One XL might work, it supports 1800MHz LTE.
Ah okay nevermind then..thanks guys.
As always well be limited and throttled most likely and they will take advantage and hike the prices up for those wanting to make use of 4G technology. Heck the current technology is quite poor in some areas. Central London and some parts of London are heavily congested and barely get any data signal!

if thats the case whats the point cause when i went into contract for 2 bloody years with t-mobile they said when the 4g is rolled out and active my HOX would benefit, lying scumbags
T-Mobile told me the same thing as well, when i corrected them Quad Band is different to 4G and this is not a 4G phone, the sales guy didnt have a response...
may be you can cancel your contract on grounds of Mis Selling

yeah thats exactly what i was thinking,i wonder if my case is strong enough? i certainly could try or at least haggle for compensation
could set a precedent and others may follow my lead
Tmobile take the pee when it comes to giving correct information, all this hype about 4G coming and i bet the majority of phones they sell dont even support it. Not only do they take the right mick when it comes to releasing OTA updates (one of the main reasons why i joined this forum!) now it looks like they're giving wrong information to customers about 4G. For me personally its not a big deal that i wont get 4G because the current signal and speeds I get now are reasonable enough even though since the start of the olympics i've noticed a bit of a decline in performance dont know if you guys have experienced this either but its the fact that they've made a big hoo haa about this and havent given clear information about who's gonna benefit from this and who wont.
It's quite hard to say, as the 4G network here will be completely different. Despite my post earlier saying, no, I've been doing some research and the 4G network in the UK will be using the already existing 1800MHz frequency. The specs for the One X say it can use this frequency.
What speed is 4G supposed to be? I regularly test and see like 4-5mb don't need anymore tbh

Yeah, but it hasn't got a clue what LTE is, so it won't work.
