Amazon Appstore Download Folder - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I like to grab all the free apps every day but don't install all of them. I let the download finish and then hit cancel on the install screen. Are all of these downloads saved somewhere hogging up space or are they flushed out when I cancel the install?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App

Well if it downloaded successfully, then it is still somewhere. You can check the downloads folder, delete the file, or open titanium backup, then delete them that way.

why not just visit the website and buy the free app that way? no need to install.

I'll have to start doing it that way since I can't find where they're downloading to. Thanks guys.

I believe /sdcard/Android/data/com.amazon.venezia/cache is what you're looking for.

No problem! Glad to help!
And I do that too...I pick up anything that might be remotely useful, but just don't install it if I don't think I want it taking space right now. I've even downloaded a few apps that I'd already paid for on the Android Market just to support the developer. They still get 20% of their normal price. I did that with Folder Organizer today, for example...a truly fantastic app that was one of the first I bought on the market.
The only time I don't do this though is on those occasions they've featured an app that is clearly crap. That's on the same theory for why I've downloaded apps I've already bought, in reverse. Sometimes I really DON'T want the dev to get the 20%, so I won't even download it to "see how bad it is." I think there was one "paid" app for free that not only did you normally have to buy to start with, but you had to pay to by credits to use it. Those I stay away from.

N64 app

What happened to it? I paid the $5 a couple of weeks ago and loved playing with the emulator. I wiped my phone and started with a clean slate and a new rom. I went to go redowload the app and its no longer in the market. I'm not sure if this is allowed, but if someone could post the apk to n64oid if you have it, that would be great!

The reason why the n64 emulator is not on the market is because the developer of the emulator took it off the market because he didn't want any bad ratings

i believe it will be back up in about 2 months.
but he is doing fixes to it so its not a buggy beta.
(prays CM7 team doesn't do that)
I do have the apk but i believe under XDA rules we cant share it because if i believe the term is right Warez?
Aww man, I didn't find anything wrong with it. I didn't know if you were allowed to PM me the apk since I have bought it in the past? If not, are you still able to look up the developers email address?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I don't recommend you even ask someone to PM you the .apk, since it could still be considered requesting wares which would earn you an infraction.
Also, if you already bought the app I suggest you try contacting the developer and try to work something out.
Is it still warez if I have bought it?
*edit* I don't mind contacting the developer, but I can't even do that since I don't have his email and its not listed in the market...

I will hit the thanks button when I have access to a computer
It doesn't even show in my apps I bought section of the android market, so I can't take a screen capture. Only way to prove is to show a screen shot of my bank account. But even then, I don't think it shoes which app I bought

Any idea how? I'm looking through my orders on the Android Market website, and it's not showing up - I presume because the app is no longer on the market. I can't find a section on the site to show billing history or something of that nature.

Nevermind, I found out how. You don't actually look for it using the Android market, you have to go to www.checkout.google.com to look up your billing history. Anyway, here's my proof in case any doubts were raised

Just got this reply from the developer. Great guy!
A great number of users are complaining about the compatibility and running performance. Considering the bad ratings, I temporarily unpublished N64oid. I am doing a rewrite of some of the core modules. Don't worry, N64oid will be back much better in a month. And of course you won't have to pay for it again.
Attached is the apk file.
Thanks for the understanding! I won't let people down.

Better Keyboard 8 apk

I am looking for this keyboards specific .apk
I am fairly certain that I have found it online, but don't really trust the website. I have had it with every ROM that I have flashed up until RandomRom and suddenly it's no longer in the market. It's not a GB thing either because I had and used it with Anonymous i3.
I have never used app back up because often I am relieved to have a fresh start with my apps. Is there any way for me to extract it from a Nandroid backup? If there is would someone be willing to PM me and help me to figure it out? Does anybody have the app itself? Please help because I can't stand the stock keyboard or swype!
that's odd it might have been taken off the market. i had bought the better keyboard unlock key awhile ago but it's not showing in my list of purchased apps anymore.
I didn't find it when I was using the Market yesterday. I do have a backup from a few months ago though. It works perfect. I am not going to post it here...dont want a ban. That is/was a paid app. All of the skins are still on the market though. Maybe updating?? OP, PM me. Best keyboard IMO. Voice to text is unbelievable too

The Better Keyboard app was removed from the Android Market because of a violation in terms of service with the developer.

[Q] Noob - HELP Android Market you did not paid for it error

A co worker copied a root explorer apk to my phone, I installed it but my conscious got the best of me as I do not believe in stealing so I decided to buy it but I can't buy it because it says already purchased. Any way to correct this?
Did you try deleting the original apk and then try purchasing? Not sure if it will work or not.

Well, you could contact the maker of the app and explain the situation. Maybe pay for it through PayPal or something.

Yeah I would contact the maker of the app and explain what happened.
Honestly ... I didn't pay for root explorer at first either... I got it from someone else as well..BUT I loved it so much I deleted it and paid for the real one... ( I like to do it this way if the creator of the app doesn't offer a trial version)
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
U just need to uninstall it. If its installed to your system then you need to use root explorer to delete data and cache of the apk then delete the apk in system and reboot

nope it's locked in
it's a known issue with Google Tech support for Android Market
it's permanently burned into your account
they have no way to fix it yet
it also happens with other LEGIT Apps from Amazon and Getjar
i opened a complain ticket several days ago
I had the same with an app I had gotten from the Amazon market, but it hasn't been getting updates there, but has on the Android market. Well the Android market had it on sale for ten cents, so I tried to buy it there and have not been successful. I haven't really tried hard to get it though.

Uninstall it, clear all your caches, and go to your application settings & wipe data for the market. That usually works for me.

Ad free apps will always be out there. They just wont be on the market. We all know how to sideload
Speaking of side loading, anyone have a copy if ad away they're willing to share? Or even better, can someone guide me on how to pull it from wherever it installs, copy to my SD card so I can install it from there on ROM swaps?

This shouldn't really bother anyone. AdFree was for root users and if you know how to root there is a very good chance you will always know where to find the apk.. Now when they prevent me from loading it on my phone it'll be a problem.

Now I just read that Google is killing off their rss reader service. That blows. Not sure how that's gonna affect most people, but I use it several times a day. I use greader pro, but it uses Google reader services for pulling in all my feeds. Time to look for alternatives.

So long as Google doesn't take active measures in the future to prohibit ad blocking...and doesn't take measures against users who use adblocking

This news REALLY pisses me off.
gReader is the only way I can keep up with Android Police, Android Authority, and a few other news sites. gReader being killed off is only slighly more annoying to me than Google killing off iGoogle.
I dont even use ad blockers, I just have a modded host file that blocks all that crap anyway I add the host file to every rom I flash.

Most Android adblockers modify the hosts file to do the adblocking.
Sounds like the world is ending in here...
It's really not that big of a deal >.>
Android is open. The store is not. You can do whatever with Android, you just wont be getting it from their store. I don't know why everyone is so upset.
Considering that hosts blocking only works if you have root, I really don't see how this is a problem. If you can root your phone, you can install third-party apks without an issue.
Still, a *****ly move, but Google does make all of their profits selling ads. It is probably AdBlock that killed the fun, since it semi-worked (WiFi only) for non-root users.

Call me a Devil's Advocate here, but what's the big freaking deal with ads in apps????? I mean, I do hate the ones that get pushed as fake notifications with some of the crapware you can get on the market, but I don't consider the regular ones obtrusive... And let's remember, ad revenue is the bread and butter for Google, and a lot of the developers who offer their apps for free...
here's the link for ad-away. i prefer this one since you can customize your lists easily.

Looks like the promo is over, that was quick, they were free for a few hours this morning. I know they were free for sure cause I downloaded them, I had saw a thread on reddit about it, now they are back to normal price.
I thought based on Google Play Guidelines that once an app is free it cannot become a paid app again. I'm betting that it was an error and that people who downloaded the app might lose access to it later.

It's not an error . App can get paid again. For example i'm from germany and i'm using "App des Tages". You can translate that to app of the day. This app will show you special offers of apps which are free for 1 day and will be paid after that day expires.
Paid apps can be offered for free for a limited time.
Downloading a free app is the same as purchasing it for $0.00.
Once you download the app, you own it, even when the price goes (back) up.
As I understand it.. That is why some people were making a big deal about devs getting your info when you "purchase" an app. People all of a sudden realized that every free app you have ever downloaded: that third party developer has your full name, email address & location. That is relatively normal info to exchange when you make a purchase from someone, but you don't want to give that info to every dev who has a free app. Turns out, you did.
