[ROM]Glacier_Gingerbread_S_TMOUS_2.3.4 w/New Radio_12.58 .60.25_26.11.04.03_M - myTouch 4G Android Development

First Thx football for the find http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1174344
This is just a update for TMOUS MT4G 2.3.4 ROOTED with new radio include in the zip
nothing new that i see but am sure it compatible with alot of new apps
Download
http://www.multiupload.com/EW89XRF1K7
Installation:
1.reboot to CWM 3.0.2.4
2.wipe data
3.flash rom
4.Done

reserved...

Is it the rom from MT4G Slide? or it's the same as the stock rom? But thank you for this update.
And is it safe to flash this rom? I mean it doesn't do the unrooting, right?

Downloading now...
its the stock rom updated to 2.3.4 not the slide rom

Any word yet if flashing this will make you lose root? I just read on the other thread with this same ROM that people were losing root.
Thx...

Does this rom have root???

Yes I used it all the time when I first got my phone.

Since this has a radio along with it, please post the md5 so no one brickes their device. Better yet you should remove the radio and have it as a separate download.

So this is not safe to flash?

I haven't had a single problem so I guess it's up to you.

its safe to flash im using it right now, everything works and no lag

A new radio? Sweet, I'll try it.

ehhh not sure what this rom is.. but it is not stock. It has no google apps and some other apps added in like spare parts and rom manager.
Stock is stock, nothing added, nothing removed. Hoping for STOCK updated rooted rom.

Almost forgot. This is a one zip install, no need to flash superuser after. Its in there.

Zipaligned and deodexed means the apk's are ready to be themed, and have been optimized. I would suggest not using these ROMS, and going HERE. These are better stock options...

Take a look in the android dev sections to this forum. If you ever update once rooted, you should be flashing a new ROM (clean or dirty flashing) to receive the next update. Running stock ROM in between a Sammy update and while having the older ROM without the newest update will yield that result.

There are plenty of reasons for rooting but remaining stock (such as: tethering, Droid wall, Titanium Backup to allow me to backup and restore app data, removing bloat, etc).
I have flashed custom rooms in the past on my Evo but right now I am happy with my S3 at stock.

I was in the same boat at you. I put it off for a while but finally decided to update tonight. I followed the steps posted here.
You can update your baseband by flashing a properly packaged official baseband zip, or flash from recovery tool (my preference), like the one here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29820376. There are also unofficial, or leaked basebands, available to flash from all-in-one zips, such as the one here: http://goo.im/devs/freeza/Galaxy-S-fre3-LIGFirmwareModemAIO.zip.
As far as the build version goes, that does not have to match your baseband (modem). Most of the ICS ROMs are LG8, although there are some LI3 ICS ROMs to choose from. There's also a leaked build of Jellybean, builds LIF & LIG, with a third leak LIH reportedly coming out tomorrow. Once rooted, you can update your build version by flashing the ROM of your choice, based upon the build of your choice.
One of the top developers, and probably the greatest asset to this community, is freeza. He explained the difference very well here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32095775
That's a long-winded response, but I hope it answered your original question, and helps you out.
Have fun!
Edit: Once you're rooted, you'll still receive OTA update notifications, which will continually annoy you until you choose to update and reboot. Once you reboot, the update will fail because of your custom recovery (you will NOT lose root) and the notification will go away....until the next OTA...

Excuse me for my stupidity but I'm new to android. I'm also using the sprint variant of the s3 and have it rooted with stock rom. However my build number is IMM76D.L710VPALF9. I'm assuming the last 3 are the update versions. What is the current version and how do I update to it?
Also, I'm rooted with Clockwork mod 5.5.0.4. How do I upgrade this to version 6.0.1.2? Will I have to unroot then root again?
Thanks for clearing anything you can up. Don't mean to pirate the OP but I figured I'd post in this thread rather than make a new one. Thanks again.

You can flash a new recovery using ODIN, or Mobile ODIN. I use Mobile ODIN. There's a thread on recoveries here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31894089

That is one of the reasons that I am rooted... so I can use WiFi Tether. I do not it much. Hardly any data at all. But when I am in a spot and need a wireless connection and I only have my phone it comes in handy.
Some other reasons:
- DroidWall: Lets me block individual apps from accessing the internet.
- AddFree: Block ads in some apps.
why would you do that?

Lock up and restart alot?

anyone else having this prob. sometimes i will use a app and the screen will go black and unresponsive i can still turn the screen on and off wit the power button but it eventually restarts however it does the startup animations but does not make the sounds. any fix?
some history:
tooks some time but decided to root, once rooted the factory os would not boot. so i did the restore to factory flash with counter reset uploaded by a fellow member of xda and then did the flash to root.
now i have this prob.
What Rom did you flash to? Stock or something else? Also, Root method? Odin CVM, Flash root zip? just trying to see if there's anything that sounds odd or off other then the issue you described. I rooted with CVM Flash (odin) and zip root method.. Flashed The People's rom, No resets here.

I have seen this a few times recently. I did not have that happen when I read on ICS. It only happened after I updated to lj7.
It is interesting to note that the phone appears to restart and recover but when I look at the uptime for android I see that it was not a full reboot.

[Q] GB to JB

Hey guys quick question..
A friend brought over his SGS2 cause he wants Jellybean but he is still on Gingerbread, Im 75% sure you cant go straight to JB from GB, if thats true, do I have to flash stock ICS or any ICS rom before getting to JB?
There is no reason you can't go straight to JB. It's just flashing another ROM.

Won't doing a clean flash negate the importance of the ROM that was previously flashed? I have confidence in TWRP when I wipe data, cache and system, that in fact it does so

Sorry for the bump fellas but this saves me from making a new thread:
I currently have a GB Rom (revenge of macnut) and would like to update my phone since it is over due. I love the Rom I currently have but little glitches have been causing it to lock up.
If I wanted to go to a JB rom, would I need to go to a stock rom first or not? Wasn't sure if I needed to put on a stock Jb rom or if I can go right into a rom with a clean wipe.
Thank you for any replies!

you know it's been a while when I have to ask what a radio is? I haven't found a good FAQ yet but once I find the rom I want I'm sure the proper radio is recommended as well. is it like klies or cwm?
anyone have a link to a good how to for this install with radio and rom included.

Yes you should upgrade to MB1 4.1.2

Everybody should upgrade to MB1. i have rooted stock rom LJ7 4.1.1 before with cwm and just upgraded to MB1 4.1.2 .. i wasn't sure whether i should stay with 4.1.1 or not because i didn't want to mess up my phone but i'm glad i decided to upgrade it... My phone is so smooth now ..no lag or anything. i didn't even have to root it again after the upgrade. Just go to freeza xda thread. If your phone is rooted stock rom with cwm like mine.. just do the following below..
1. Download freeza Odexed MB1 zip and MB1 firmware zip. Then put them on you external sdcard. Boot to CWM
2. Wipe cache, wipe dalvik
3. Flash Firmware
4. Flash ROM
5. Reboot
BAM .. Your phone will be faster and everything will run smooth. Even my wifi tethering is still working.
I just want to share that with you guys.. good luck:good:

I had bad luck with MB1 and went back to LJ7. Phone was laggy, especially the animations, and battery life seemed to be worse. Tried both the stock OTA as well as the custom ROMs, and both dirty flashes as well as clean ones. Will be sticking with LJ7 until the next update.

My setup below is snappier than when I bought it new, with all the stock features and much more. TPR is super easy to dirty flash over TW, then theme it your way with Morphology. You might try it and you can always go back.

I have had very bad luck with KT747 kernel. Quadrant scores dropped from around 6100 to 4700 and Antutu scores dropped from around 11,000 to around 8,000. The entire device was laggy, especially animations. No amount of tweaking via the KTweaker app for governor settings and IO settings helped one bit. Even tried using the stock governor and scheduler with no help. I guess my device just doesn't agree with it.
The reason why I will not try TPR is because I simply don't like the theme it comes with and have no time or desire to mess with Morphology. The stock theme and icons are best IMO, and as far as I know, all the devs like to mess with the look of the ROM which isn't to my liking, For example, I hate the transparent dropdown notification pane.

You need to tell us what you did step by step... rooted on stock rom with CWM? did you follow the steps on the first post?
My mantra is if it's not broken, don't fix. My 4.1.1 is working just fine, great battery life etc, so i see no need to update to MB1. All i did was flash the MB1 modem just to have the latest radio.
I see nothing in 4.1.2 to bother with.
LordLugard, how did you stop the annoying sprint update to MB1 notifications?

Exactly. A small update to the camera seems to be about the extent of it.

I am rooted with a custom recovery, TWRP, but stock. Accept the update, it will reboot phone and try and install and obviously fail. That's it.
