[Q] Which case is more pocket friendly Popcase or Tough case. - Galaxy S II Accessories

Hello everyone, after a very long search about SGS2 cases I ended up with two choices, so i need one more detail in order to make my final decision , In my opinion both cases deliver almost the same protection , but i wanted to know which one of these is more pocket friendly and by that I mean does it get stock in your pocket if you try to get it out/in of the pocket.
Also i have another one that I like a lot but it doesn't have a release date yet, im talking about this Otterbox case, does anybody know the release date of this product ?
Thanks.

I used both the Tough and Pop cases from CM. I like the Pop case better and it does seem like its easier to pull it in and out of pockets. Plus it also does not collect as much dust vs the Tough case. I am returning the Tough case and keeping the Pop case. Hope that helps you..

Thanks it helped me , but i thought the the rubber on the sides of the popcase would make the case harder to get it out of the pocket , well i was wrong.

I also own the pop case, I won it in a competition, and I absolutely love it. I use it for days that I think that I might need extra protection. It's built like a tank. REALLY easy to pull out of my pocket.

Thanks for the feedback guys , I just ordered the POPcase!

I actualy bought that for my desire hd, and wish i had not, they are not that good you can see inperfections, that when you look at them apear like a crack.
Im prety sure this is becuase they are so cheap and sold via fleabay, if you was to find/purchase one elsewhere a more well known make then im prety sure you would not see these. but that is my opion of those.
yeah i rather buy a clear TPU gel case, actually i bought and recieved 2 from dealextreme.
the hard cases always break and pretty quick too
That case I gave a link to, I have. I can say its one of the best cases ever! No cracks or breaks and it protects the phone almost 100%! Its two pieces that dont actually attach to the phone at all, the two halves of the case snap together securly.
This type of plastic case however:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-CRYSTAL-CLE..._MobilePhonesCasesPouches&hash=item3cb3fdd80c
Is absolute bollox! It does attach itself to the phone and cracks within about 3 days...PANTS!
I bough this case in the end, its got a hard part on the back:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380332737615&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Im just gonna wait till they release a clear hard case that I think will be up to the job

Best hard case to protect phone

Guys,
After breaking my 1st SGS2 I'm a bit paranoid, i broke the screen and really i have no idea how as i didnt put much pressure on it, anyways can anyone recommend a good case to protect the phone to reduce the chances of this happening again?
Would like to purchase something on ebay.
thanks
Wait for otterbox then. I have a Pleomax that I got from eBay though and I'm verry happy with it.
The quality is pretty good.
using Tough case from casemate. really good. phone feel more .... hmmm more like a phone in my hand. It fell couple of times, but no scratches whatsoever. but pricey though, £24.99 frm carphonewarehouse

Wondering this myself.
It depends really. Personally I like the feeling with the casemate tough case.....and it definetely feels bit bulky which is also good.
Screen is protected by silicone overlays, so facedown position yr screen does not make contact with table(or whatever) surface u put it.
the only negative I found is that a silicone part of the case attracting dust and has to be cleaned from time to time.
so far using this and definetely like it.
Tough Case from case-mate is the way to go in my opinion too!

[CASE] X10 Best Case Poll!

I have been through many cases recently with my x10 including:
Alumor by Capdase
Edge by INCIPIO
Commuter by OtterBox
Silicone/Plastic Skin by (unkown)
Invisible Shield by ZAGG
I found that all of the cases were good in their own ways but had their downsides obviously.
a) Alumor, very snug design it has a great metal backing for excellent protection of the phone and really nice rubber/silicone inside for shock absorption. The rubber around the keys felt a little thick and I found myself often doubling click a button to get my desired keystroke. I found the case a tad bit bulky but obviously spared no cost in the protection department. I really liked the smooth feeling of the metallic backing against my hands. Overall a great case for in-and-out of pocket use. The rubber eventually peels but it does NOT discolour.
b) Edge, extremely tight fitting which leaves little room for screen protectors. But this tight fit ensures a small fitting case making it less cumbersome. Direct access to all of the keys and speakers was a big plus for me, it really made it feel like I didn't even have a case on my phone. A big downside, I thought, was that it covers up the notification light entirely which I consider one of the main reasons why I got an Android phone. Overall great case except for the lack of notification reminders.
c) Commuter, tough like a rock this case hit the ground many times and I was damn glad I had it on because it takes a lot of hits! Again the rubber sheath around the phone left me disgruntled when pressing the volume keys for example. It's a great case for anyone really worried about damaging their wonderful x10. Of course this great prtoection comes at a cost; the Commuter is by far the bulkiest case out there. The rubber innards serve as great protection but I feel like they didn't spend enough time really trying to get a tight fit around the x10. Overall great case for those worry-warts!
d) Silicone/Plastic skin, this was actually my first case and I am not a fan of silicone/plastic cases. I found that they discolour easily, they turn your pockets inside-out when you check your messages, and the protection is minimal. There is just not enough between the phone and the ground I drop it on to really save my phone. I suppose it's better than nothing though. Keys are hard to access through the silicone/plastic even harder than the rubberized bodies on the Alumor and Commuter. Overall it's not a bad alternative if you don't really want a heavy duty case.
e) Invisible Shield, probably a dream come true to anyone who absolutely despises cases. I had a back and front protection on my x10, and I do believe there is an entire body cover package. The invisible shield almost melts to your phone and becomes part of it, the design is fantastic from protection of scratches and nicks. Unfortunetly this isn't a case at all. It's great for scratches, etc. but contributes a minimal amount if you ever drop it on the ground. Zero protection of the corners of the x10. Overall it's the best choice for those who don't want a case.
Alright there's my little rant on cases. Sorry if this has been done over many threads and posts but I thought i might shed some light on the topic. Hope this clears things up for any skeptical people out there.
But the real question is...what's your favourite case?
Leave your awesome responses in the comments and please leave your opinion!
i've got one from unknown brand, hard plastic or something like that, and it's perfect, the buttons are completely accesible because they're not covered, and also it doesn't turn my pockets inside-out. I've also used an invisible shield, which is very good indeed, but the only problem i found was that after some time it starts to get dirty and out of the phone, so i have to remove it and replace with new one. i decided to use the plastic case and the only problem i have is the phone now is not as slim as it is without, like 2mm more than before, but is no problem
Sounds like you've got yourself a great plastic one, very interesting how the buttons are not covered! Maybe ill look around. I'm currently using my Edge and it is great I find. If you ever get the chance or have a little extra money you could try it out.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I've got the Otterbox Commuter. I'm not overly worried about breaking my phone but it has saved it on a few occasions. I personally don't find it as bulky as others might but I do agree that the rubbery part could form more nicely to the phone. the top part of the rubber is much looser than I'd like.
@Pawnty, I totally am with you the little slot where the notification light cut out is seems to be incredibly loose. I thought mine was just maybe a deformed one and I got unlucky. Good to know I'm not the only one. Overall though it is a great case IMHO.

Also as a recommendation I would try the Incipio Edge its really great, that is if your looking for a switch or just an alternative.

i really like the invisible shield! its invisible!
I use back hard mesh cover. 3layered screenguard. GEB leather pouch..... All from ebay

http://www.mugen-power-batteries.co...ed-replacement-battery-with-battery-door.html
Hi people. Great thread! I've been searching for this for a while.
I'm thinking about buying a case for my x10. I've already dropped it once, resulting in a broken screen, and I'd really like to avoid having that "accident" twice.
Since I'm from Argentina, I would have to buy it online and have it sent, so I'd really like to be sure of what I'm buying.
I've checked all the ones you mentioned, and I'm still trying to decide between an Edge and a Commuter. However, I wanted to ask you (warning: girlie question ahead): aren't there any cases that come with designs? I don't mean colours only, but pictures or logos or something extra? Something to spice things up! I love my x10, but I'd really like to have something more... bazzinga, let's call it!
Thanks for the post, it's been really helpful!

Video Review: Casemate TOUGH case for the Galaxy Note

Hello all,
I have bought a Casemate tough case and received it today and made a quick video on youtube about how it looks and feels on my channel.
In summary it is a fantastic case and the only drawback is the fact that it hand't been released earlier.

How thick does it make the device now?
It's not actually that bad to be honest. It gives it a "nice and comfortable" feel

How about when you put it in your pocket? is it still comfortable in there? I use TPU cases right now, and they're fairly slim as they are. But I never feel comfortable with them if I were to drop my device. They're just good for scratches, not for falls (which never happens, but I'm sure it will happen sooner or later).

It fits into my pocket alright a nice fit without making it look like i am "excited" . I am 6'2" however so my pockets might be slightly bigger. With this I literally have no worries about it dropping. I probably don't even need the screen protector on the device.
If you look on my youtube channel there is another case review up from casemate too and the phone does seem just as secure without the added bulk.

Depends how big...a slight raise and you might just get away with it but an extended battery like a 4500mAh then no...This case is designed exactly for the normal battery with a tiny tiny bit of room if any
Nice lookin' case, shame it's only in black
nice case there, the only thing is it adds so much bulk to the note, that's my only concern with this case...

I see what you mean but I don't mind it as the phone is big already.
I just love the case because it is soooo comfortable to hold. I had it on my GS2 and I couldn't wait until casemate released it.
It would be worth trying it if you get the chance you won't regret it

Sure mate, might buy it later i guess...
Its always good to have choices..
I have a TPU gel S-Line wave case on my Note right now.
I intend to buy the Case Mate Tough, but there are some things I want to ask you about.
How does it feel when you press the power / volume buttons? I mean... do you feel it, or it's like... erm... dang. The feedback, is it good or bad?
Also, how "slippery" is it on the top/bottom edges (where the polycarbonate shell isn't holding it as tight as on the sides)? Bad enough to "slip" off a bit when you take it out of a tight pocket, or even when you drop it...?
---------- Post added at 11:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:57 PM ----------
Oh and one more thing (not likely to be the last )... Did you get a screen protector inside the package? The store where I'm about to buy it from claims there is one in the package, although they don't mention whether it's made by Case-Mate (do they actually do screen protectos?) or some other firm, or if it's clear or matte or whatever...
The feeling is really good I loved it. The button feedback is great. I buy tough cases for all my phones as I love how they feel. The buttons are easy to press and the phone stays clean without any dirt getting in between the phone and the case.
With regards to screen protector, no there wasn't one and I am not aware that casmate do do any screen protectors. I usually go for zagg ones as I like them the most.

Thank you for the answer!
Then the store that is selling the case probably includes a crappy screen protector in themselves . Or CaseMate started to add this recently... who knows.
I'll buy it on wednesday. Hope I don't get one that has askew cut-outs and such, haha .
My case arrived just today!
It had a screen protector in the package... which was probably added by the shop, since the package was not sealed anymore and... oh well...
The screen protector was probably good, at least as good as those cheap ones you can get for a dollar a piece, but I f**ked up at installing it. I was planning to go down to a shop and buy a 3M Vikuiti screen protector (the vendor installed it, perfectly), anyway.
-----
The case is... well, it's bulky! It's really good, but installing it is a bit... well, it's hard. I did some drop tests with it, and the buttons were slightly off, also the lip... required some extensive pulling-with-teeth .
I'm dissapointed by the fact that they didn't add a few extra stripes of ABS on the top and bottom.... without those, those two sides are flimsy and easy to get off, you know... Anyway.
Also, the hard shell doesn't perfectly fit over the silicone glove, at least on the top side... but it's good enough.
For this kind of price, I was expecting utmost perfection, but it's good . To be honest, the S-Line wave TPU case I had before felt better in hand - also had better grip. Or perhaps I just need some time to adjust to this new case...
Also, hate how the silicone is a dust magnet.
-----
Anyway, this case is overall good. Definetly protects the phone well .
I used the case-mate tough case back when I had my Galaxy S and loved it! It offered outstanding protection from bumps and knocks so I purchased the case again for my Note. Used it for a few months but have since moved to the Mercury case. What made me change was the difficulty I had taking the phone out of my pockets. The textured surface of the case is nice to hold and feels good but it's too clingy to clothing, magnified by the size of the case's surface area ( probably why I never had the same problem with my Galaxy S). Still use it every now and again though.

UAG gear VS OtterBox Commutor

Hello,
With this topic i would like to ask out of these 2 populair cases wich one is best in your honest opinion?
In my opinion i think so far the UAG is alot more nice and maybe a bit less thick,
But maybe the Commutor is alot more Durable and better against drops? But also a bit uglyer than the UAG.
I am still struggling just due i think it has to be good against drops, Due thats whats a case is for obviously.
I hope you can help me out of this and probably other users aswell since i doubt i am the only one ^^
Best regards,
DrLuigi
Or of course if you have another case wich isnt above 35-40 dollar please say so ^^
But i think these two are the best around for this price tag.
I tried out the commuter at a bestbuy and while the case feels nice. the buttons are insanely hard to press. You have to really press it really hard and you don't get feedback so you don't know if you pressed it or not until the screen reacts.
Other members here have said that it eases up over time but not that much.
I personally have the ballistic sg and it seems to be the nicest for me. (not the maxx, just the sg)

Yeah,
Heard the same thing about buttons, But not becoming lose at all, is what i heard,
Also it just doesnt seem nice anyhow, But its very strong i have heard against drops.
Also i have to say that case seems nice,
But i do think Urban one does look nicer,
But idk about being good against drops or anything.
Trident Case has a few rugged options and I heard they are coming out with a charging case too. They range from $35-$50 but they are having a sale, 25% off everything.
I have the commuter. Highly recommend it for protection. It has saved my phone from so many drops.I think some people exaggerate on how hard the buttons are to press. Yes you have to press them a little harder but not much. I just ordered a Uag case since i heard so many great things about them. Either way I don't you can go wrong with either case.

Any idea when it should arrive?
Just so you could tell us maybe how you think it is?
For example so you could tell us wich one you would prefer as first case?
Due the chance is pretty high i get both aswell (Well or something else ofc like a Power Charge case) , but the second will be for over like 3-4 months so ye
Thanks for the help everyone ^^
For Otterbox commuter and Ballistic SG case, please have a look to my thread as I had deeply compare both. For UAG, there is a thread with more 200k view about the case. It's base on your personal preference. If you want your phone to be protected well (with dust cover), then get a Otterbox Commuter(Dont worry about the button, it will getting better after few weeks of use). If you want a unique looking, protective and less bulky case, then get a UAG case. Currently, commuter is much more cheaper than the UAG. I owned 3 of these ultimate protective case, I guarantee that you wont regret if you get either one. But personally, I recommended UAG..^^

Hai,
Thanks for the explaination,
Did not know there were such topics already there sry ^^
But i also just wanted to know wich one would be better when talking about Quality/Drop/being pretty.
Anyhow ^^
If anyone knows also a pretty cool case please repley ^^
I probably think to buy UAG first, Afterwards perhaps a Otterbox for when i do other stuff that it would be more common it to fall etc etc.
Best regards,
DrLuigi.
Btw how thick is that UAG case?
Since it seems on picture pretty reasonable thin,
But wanted to ask ye first ^^
Also is the back panel plastic smooth or grippy or?
Thanks ^^
I have the aviator UAG. Color isn't great, Gunna get the blue one instead sooner or later. As far as everything goes, great protection, solid feel, all around good quality. Little slippery on the back tho.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
So I just got my UAG case and I love it. It does feel a little slimmer than the commuter. I feel as if it is a bit less protection from the otterbox, but it feels so much better in the hands. I saw a drop test on youtube with this case and seems pretty good.
Sent from Flip's S3
I have both and I always find myself going back to my UAG. It fits better in my opinion and has a much thinner profile. The small raised areas on the back corners help it from sliding around when its on its backside on a flat surface. The otterbox on the other hand is slicker they the naked phone itself. The UAG also comes in and out of pocket easier. Lol my advice is extremely one sided, but its some food for thought.
Sent from inside the RootBox.
I personally am a otterbox fan I currently have the following otterbox cases for the s3
-gun metal grey / white defender
-orange / black / realtree camo defender
-red / black defender
-white / gunmetal commuter
-purple / pink commuter
I switch these cases out like switchimg out my underwear
YES THE COMMUTER CASE at first is hard to press the buttoms but the more you use it the better and easier it becomes
I also love otterbox customer service always friendly and have no problem exchanging out your case for you or trying to work out something
Ok so I think I got a defective UAG case. The power button on the case gets stuck when I push a little too hard which sends my phone in a bunch of bootloops. Contacted the seller and hopefully I get a replacement

Thanks that actually seems to fix it. Also, I thought I had read that this case was really hard to take off. But I take mine off easily. It doesn't feel lose or anything.

After reading reviews and seeing how my wife's iPhone otterbox has held up (she's on her third replacement), I bought an uag yesterday. They look very rugged, kinda like a toolbox.
