No root on ginger - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I am no expert but if it hasn't happened after this long will it ever happen? If someone could explain the process to obtain s off that would be great. Why is it taking so long?
Sent from my ADR6350 using XDA App

Its taking long as we haven't found an exploit for Gingerbread temp-root, after we have that we can work on perm root.

Here we go again..
It took 2 and a half months to root 2.2...

Realistically, I'd give it another 5 to 6 months before someone figure out how to software-root our phone, for now....keep on dreaming.

Don't do it! If anything go for the charge. Had both and the thunderbolt is the lesser of the two imo. But I'm dropping the charge for the inc2 soon anyways so I hope someone gets lucky soon

Well maybe HTC will be nice enough to unlock our bootloader.http://www.htcdev.com The dev site is up.

well for the sensation evo 3d...there is no word on if/when it will come to verizon htc phones
and we would need a new update from htc/vzw to allow for the use of the unlock tool
fwiw its clear that they are working on 2.3.4 for the inc2

Also I guarantee they will have a way to know you used their tool and will automatically void your warranty. Not worth it.

I always assumed my warranty was gone when I rooted mine. It's insured even though I am careful with my stuff and have never needed it. If something should go wrong it might fall off the boat though.

As long as it doesnt have root on it when Verizon gets their hands on it your warranty is still good.

it depends on the conditions associated with it...i highly doubt it would violate the entire warranty, specifically as how it relates to hardware issues...however id forget ever trying to return a software bricked phone

That was made public knowledge Sunday night when HTC outlined the unlock procedure. In order to use the unlock service, you will need to acknowledge that unlocking the phone may void your warranty.

Extended warranty question

Ok I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place but I just got my Droid incredible about 2 months ago. I bought the extended warranty and now that there not selling it anymore can I still get the same phone if something happened to it a few months down the road? Or do I have to get a cheap phone I don't waNt or like?

The thing is, the stream of CLNRs in the warranty channel is self-perpetuating and isn't going to dry up anytime soon.
Really depends on if they have any in-stock or not. If they still have them in stock, then you'll get the same one back. Otherwise, like the others said, you're going to get a different phone that's "supposedly" equal value.

Need someone who got an OG < 14 days ago and wouldn't mind a potential brick for CM

Need someone who got an OG < 14 days ago and wouldn't mind a potential brick for CM
If you got an OG less than 14 days ago (which means you could exchange it for free if you brick) and wouldn't mind bricking, I have something kind of risky for you to try. This could potentially make us able to run nexus 4 kernels, which would make the road to CM exponentially shorter. If you are interested, please PM me or post here and I will send you the necessary files. If possible, I would like someone who knows how to use fastboot. This is completely voluntary, so do not get mad at me if your phone bricks. Sorry to ask this of you, but my 14 days ended. My idea is to flash the RPM partition from the Canadian E973, which has CM and can run n4 kernels. The nexus 4 RPM led to a brick unless someone flashed their partition map (in which case, it worked and accomplished the intended goal), since the OG's and N4's partition maps are very different, but the Canadian OG's is mostly the same, which leads me to believe it could work.
I got an OG off of craigslist last week, just to mess around with it, and maybe replace my GS3 with it, when AOSP ROMs started showing up.
I don't WANT to brick it... but it wouldn't be the biggest deal in the world if I did.
Plus, I've been leaching off XDA since my HTC Vogue. I think I owe the community.
I can offer my OG up to science. Let me know what you need from me. I've got a free day, for the most part, and I can follow directions.

What will T-Mobile do if they find out if I'm rooted?

I need to take my phone up there because the phone is having problems with the battery and I've done everything I can. I have insurance on the phone and also have Android JB 4.1.2 and I'm rooted. Is there anyway to hide it or should I even care?

I wouldn't know what happens if you're going through T-Mobile but I assume you'll be fine if you're polite and explain you don't know what's going on, insist you've been with T-Mobile because of their excellent support if they make a big deal about it. Asurion the insurance company working with T-Mobile will take it anyways because they just fix it and that's it and resell it. And because you pay a monthly bill they're making money off of you regardless and you still have to pay a deductible.
But you SHOULD really return to stock.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 4
If they see that the phone is rooted, they'll just simply do nothing for you. That's why people say "your warranty is now void".
Do what is mentioned above or take your chances and hope the T-Mobile rep that is assisting you doesn't check to see if the phone is rooted or check the flash counter.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium

Oh, simple enough then! Just go to SuperSU and unroot.
You could even try to temp unroot if you think that's all you'd need to do to hide it.
Befire you unroot though, do you have a custom recovery or kernel installed? If not, then run triangle away, then unroot. If you do, reflash root66, then use TA and unroot.

What's the problem with the battery?
I like the features I get with my stock build, but I'm considering a root for better control over my apps, (Greenify, permission control) so this thread seems like a relevant question.
Is Triangle Away and unrooting all it takes to make it appear that I haven't done anything?
The warranty issue is the only thing stopping me, it's saved me a bunch in the past...

I rooted my phone once, but I will never do it again after what happened. Last year I rooted my GS3 and about a week later, my local T-Mobile store called my phone unexpectedly. The guy on the other end told me I was due for a price drop, but I would have to come into the T-Mobile store to sign the paperwork before it would take effect. 2 days later I stopped in to get the discount on my monthly payment. The T-Mobile employee said he would have to look at my phone just to verify that it was the correct serial number. He went into the back room and said he would be back in a few minutes. 10 minutes later, a police officer walks in the store and asks my name. I'm totally freaked out wondering what the deal is. He asks me to turn around a puts hand cuffs on me. The officer told me I was under arrested and being charged with "rooting a mobile device". I was booked and released, but I would watch what you do to your phone. Good luck.

Rooting a device isn't illegal. They can kiss my ring. Think about it, if it was illegal why are root apps allowed on Google Play? And also, why is XDA not been shut down?
Methinks something else happened there. Maybe you voided their warranty and tried getting a discount which may be against the rules. Or something. But I know for a fact this is legal. Unlocking is a different story however.
So my advice, root on my brothers it's the only damn freedom we have left here in America.

Yes, basically. You are now, unfortunately, locked until someone finds us a way to unlock. Or you could pay to have your phone s-off, via Sonic's thread. He purchased a javacard and is charging a fee, which I find to be very decently priced, to s-off peoples phone. You will have to send your phone to him, though, so unless you have a backup phone, you'll be without a phone for a few days.
Wow. Hope you had a good reason to lose an unlocked device.

let me guess, OCD and that little gap up top was too much, or that one little scratch in the trim, or 1 dead pixel...

I had to make an exchange due to bad radios and lost my unlock also. A functional phone comes before unlock.
If your unlock token worked on your new phone it would work for all phones.

It's getting a little nuts with these new root threads when the answer is - no, you can't root (well, bootloader unlock) right now. I mean it's literally on the front pages of the forum for this device.

Just torrent the FoxFi app full version. You need to install a certificate which means you have to enable the lockscreen on your phone...but whatevs. Works for me.

If you can live without your phone for a few days, send it to Sonic and he'll give you s-off... costs about $30. I did it, worth the money.

Once you have s-off, you can unlock your bootloader and also get root.

dont buy a phone you wouldnt want to run stock. Most people see that as a difficult idea to grasp, but whatever. if you ABSOLUTELY NEED ROOT TO FUNCTION, this is not the phone for you right now
