Samsung S2 Waterproof Case: Aquapac - Galaxy S II Accessories

I wanted a waterproof case for my S2 so I could use it whilst hill walking. I've used Aquapac cases before, so decided to try them out again with their Small Whanganui Electronics Case (348).
I haven't used it out in the wilds, or tested it's waterproofness, so I'll limit this post to simply providing some pictures for those wondering about the fit and what it looks like.
The packaging states it's touch screen friendly and it is. Playing around in the house I've had no problems using the phone. I even made a couple of phone calls and while it wasn't as clear as without the case, it was still audible both ways.
I wasn't expecting a window in the rear; but then, I wasn't expecting one side to be clear and the other grey. Maybe the grey is a tougher material?
RRP is £20, but I picked it up for £17.99 delivered.

Thank you very much this was exactly what i needed ! i will go into holiday next week and i wanted something different...now there will be no problem at the beach

waterproof bag

Before you seal it, do you try to squeeze as much air out of it as you can? Looks like the phone would shift around quite a bit when it's in there.

Has anyone tried a waterproof armband (thinking more for running than swimming). Would be good to get some feedback before buying...

Hi,
i'm using SEaLABox waterproof case for my S2 for couple of months

My waterproof phone cover, DryCASE, is great and it comes with an arm band especially for water sports! DryCASE is a clear, plastic waterproof bag that uses a patented technology to ensure an air tight seal.
The basic DryCASE comes with an arm band as well as waterproof earphones.
Hope this helps!

well, you can try Winner Skin (Golovan) Reviewed by Jessica, tho the video show he use S3, I think they have for S2 also
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_o9gXAs8eU

Hey can I please know the name of the case (not the waterproof one, the case you're using for your phone).
Thanks

I have own of this cases: Aquapac
I have done snorkeling with it.
Its totally dry, this is the main purpouse and works well.
The problem for me is if you try to operate, with the pressure, it happens to me that the plastic becomes like it was a screen protector but it "touches" the screen so its really hard to control the phone, for example to take pictures, i do not pretend to call from under the water ... rolf XD
If i try to put as much air as i can it operates better but its not a proper solution.
Does it happens the same with the other ones?
by the way, I understand that the main use of them is just to protect not to operate under the water

hi guys,
maybe you heard something about water resistant case?
I would like to dive with it up to 3 meters down..

Cruzerlite sends scratched cases?

Anyone else order a cruzerlite TPU case and have it arrived all scratched up? It looks used...I definitely don't recommend buying from cruzerlite.
On a side note, can anyone recommend a nice pouch that might help protect against metal shavings that get in my pocket at work?
look at the packaging, maybe it got squashed in the mail or something, I doubt they'll send you a used one.
I've always found Bugatti pouches to be very nice, made from real leather and not to expensive, lots of choice too.
I have one and I bought one for my girlfriend. Neither of the Cruzerlite cases have scratches and they came in perfect condition.
Sounds like something happened either during shipping or the place you bought it from.

It might sound silly, but I recommend using a ziploc bag at your workplace. Those metal shaving will find there way through any case or pouch, and depending on the type of metal shavings, they will be very attracted to your speakers magnets! Been there, done that!
On your case, just contact them... if they don't know you have a problem, they cannot offer you any solution!

I work in a machine shop... About once a week I have to take a small magnet to the speakers, it's amazing how many little chips it picks up.
On my One S, my speaker actually sounded like it was blown, so I went to replace it and it turned out to be metal chips.
I leave my phone in drawer in a toolbox at work.

I hear you!
The worst thing you can do to your phone is blow into the speakers (killed my OG evo's rear speaker by doing exactly that)... especially if you work in that type of environment. I pulled my old evo's speaker out and did the "speaker drop" onto a magnet and pulled a ton of stuff out of it. But of course like an idiot I blew into it (nintendo style) as soon as it started to sound bad!
Whenever I'm in a metal shop or near a beach, I'm ziploc'in it!

FYI... I'm sure you know this (OSHA), but those air hoses can kill you (Or get you fired in a strict shop!) - Air Bubbles in the Bloodstream = Not good!

OtterBox Armor Review

Bought this case new from ebay knowing about its few problems being reported like the proximity sensor, call problems, and audio issues, but still preferred this over the lifeproof simply for its protection. When i first received it, my initial reaction was "wow, its here, and its HUGE!" But i carefully disassembled it and clean it out just in case, water tested it (passed), dried it off, and finally put my phone in its new suit of armor. It really made the phone huge, and i mean huge, but i honestly dont mind the added bulk because of its substantial protection and it still feels very comfy in hand and doesnt hinder the phones functionality at all. Speaker for music also plays very loudly and crystal clear unlike other reviewers have stated. I think its a great case to buy and kind of essential if you have a very physically active life. Now to the cons (although their aren't many): Unlike many other reviewers of the white version have stated, i dont have call proximity issues, only thing that happens related to proximity is when i turn the phone over to face down while playing music, it pauses, but thats expected because i had that motion option enabled. Next, phone calls work fine and i hear people just fine, but the caller on the other end may have a problem hearing you sometimes. But it rarely happens and most times they can hear you. Easy fixes are bluetooth and earphones. Lastly, the home button definitely requires more pressure to press and the menu/back "buttons" are a little harder to get to but you'll get used to it. Thats the only thing "wrong" with this case honestly and its still excellent to have. I would highly recommend it. If you dont mind a little bulk, get it. Again, great great case :good:
I have a brand new one in original packaging from otterbox if anyone wants, contact me through dm or 6785162209
Personally speaking, at that kind of bulk, I'd rather shove in a 7200mAh Anker. Protection is nice and all but severely handicaps the phone IMO. If you like bulk, might as well triple your battery life.
Furthermore, if it does get scratched/cracked/broken, it's fairly easy to replace (for most members here). For example, you can swap the camera lens for a few bucks if it does get scratched.
I've had my GS3 for almost two years now. Been completely nude the whole time. No screen protector, nothing. There are many surface scratches on the screen which you can only see if you look at it while the screen is off under a super, super bright light. Doesn't affect the image quality at all. Outside frame (the gray part) is a little cracked in few places. Not a big deal.
Runs flawless on CM 10.2.1. Undervolted almost 100mV across the board.
I used to be OCD, but decided to save my health instead.

I personally liked the armor series for my S3. I only stopped using mine due to needing to put my phone in my pocket and the armor didn't quite fit the bill. I use my lifeproof nud for daily use at work but when out playing around or working at the house I still use my armor series. And you definitely can't beat the otterbox warranty.

LOL...I love my phone being slim and I can live with scratches. But after a few near misses with my toddler son and getting soaked a couple of times on the job, I decided I would have to give in. Bring without my phone even for a day would screw up my schedule. Amazing how much I depend on it.

I've also bought this case and it turned out to be just what I was looking for. Before I've had Griffin survivor which would be good enough for me except two things, it was not that easy to remove (I prefer naked S3 while not in a hostile environment) and it scratched my S3. After the latter happened I've immediately sold it.
But the reason to post is for everyone with menu/back/home buttons problem. After a proper inspection I've found out that the back cover of the case doesn't give enough support for installed phone. If the phone is fully pushed into the case there is approximately 1.5mm gap between the phone and the back cover. So after first push on menu/back/home button even if the phone is inserted all the way in to the case, the phone backs up a little and that gap moves from the back to the front. In order to solve this problem I've ordered 1.5mm thick silicone sponge to fill the gap between the phone and the back cover. One thing that bothers me about this is that waterproofness of the case might be broken if 1.5mm thick sponge is too much and even bigger problem is how test waterproofness as I don't want to sacrifice my phone. I'll report any pros or cons about my modification. If it solves this problem I'll post some pictures of modification.
I've had the Acase Superleggera Pro Dual Protection Case on my S3 since I bought it and I love it. I've dropped it so many times and not noticed any difference in performance. And it's not super bulky like the other 2 layer cases. It's also less than $10 at Amazon these days.

For everyday protection sure it may be good, but when it comes to 10ft drop, water, being hit, stomped on, and numerous other things, the armor case is the best.

As I've said if not in hostile environment in my case this is mostly dusty air and greasy surfaces, I prefer my S3 naked. So Otterbox Armor is needed.

I tried with 1.5 mm foam and it was just a little too much. Now I am waiting for 1mm which I think it should work. As I've already said, in my case waterproofness is not really needed but I wouldn't like to brake it. Will report again.

I finally got 2mm foam as 1mm is hard to get. 2mm foam goes into gaps between ribs on the rubber on the back cover of the case. So this just might do the trick as the case closes ok.

Just a FYI, coincidentally I was checking out this seller on amazon today and the shipping times (for this supposedly US seller) was 2-3 weeks. No thanks. Sheesh
yeah with the two week lead time, you can order some off ebay for half the price
I got my one with my phone (Craigslist) and I don't like it, we need more options than this.

Universal Waterproof Case

This just came in the mail today from amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Wat...8&qid=1402547153&sr=8-3&keywords=dryphonecase
http://www.dryphonecase.com/
This case is supposedly from Italy. The case is a very sturdy plastic that has a gel membrane that covers the screen side of case. It fits most smartphones. The membrane is the only thing that makes me nervous about the case. The case has a great seal around the edges of the case. The top if the case has a lock that keeps the case together. It also came with a lanyard.
I also did a water submerge test for 30 minutes. Nothing leaked. Supposedly it can take quite the fall.
Please let me know if you all have questions or comments about the case or my review.
Edit: The case worked great on my 75 mile bike trip. It survived a rain storm and a fall, but the fall cracked that case. But the phone survived the 7 foot fall. The case is great for water things but not dropping I found out.
Do this guys ship to India and reviews please

Power Button
You can not press power when the phone is in the case, correct?
If not, I don't see how this is any better than a plastic bag.
UPDATE:
Bought the case...
•*I installed ElementalX kernel and enabled DT2W in order to turn the screen on while the phone is in the waterproof housing.
• The touchscreen will not respond when submerged underwater. (I suspected as much.) This is a limitation of the hardware, not a case issue. Case comes with a sleeve that would theoretically allow the stouchscreen to work by providing some space between the screen protector and the screen itself but it seems to damage teh cover itself and might cause it to leak. (my unsubstantiated opinion)
•*Comes in a really bad cardboard box that hails it's material and integrity from the 1960's.

Pouch idea, but will it work?

The dimensions of this phone are 6.26" x 2.6" x .66" closed. I've been looking for a nice pouch to put it in rather than a case. I didn't find much but came across the idea to adapt a case for a different purpose to housing this phone. With that in mind here is a link to a case for eyeglasses that I think might work, what do you folks think?
https://www.lucrin.com/accessories/...ard-size-glasses-tan-real-ostrich-leather.htm
i bought a pouch for the fold and thats what i expect to use rather than a case.
I have use a microfiber sunglass pouch for my phone even if it has a case and screen protector. Helps keep pocket dust and stuff out and also serves as a cleaning cloth if needed. Been doing it for 6+ years now.
So I'm not Bat feces crazy, or at least not the only one who is bat feces crazy. I'm still sorting stuff out but I expect to be buying a nice high end leather pouch of some kind for this thing, ostrich, croc, etc. When you've spent this much money on a phone why not throw good money after bad?
Problem being when you're putting in or taking out of the pouch; sooner or later you'll fumble and it will tumble.
It's size, frequency of use and lack of sure handgrips almost guarantees it to happen.
Putting a tether on it might help, but a good case is mandatory to protect it.
B&H carries many different pouches and bags, their customer service is second to none. I use cargo and tactical pants to stash my 10+, works pretty well most times but only it's case has saved it from concrete hell.

Too many learned the hard way with the heavy near no bevel Note's when they fall with no case.
One case the owner's dog's tail whacked it off the table to patio oblivion.
Two layered protection systems generally work best ie hard polycarbonate shell with a semi hard urethane liner. Sort of slim pickens but the last two on this list here look promising.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/best-samsung-galaxy-z-fold-2-cases/?amp
Eye ball them carefully. You want some screen protection that will also double as false touch guards but not too excessive or it will impede usage.
Be careful that mic and speaker ports aren't covered.
At this price point these phones should have a hard tether point just like a camera...
not everyone is clumsy with smartphones. back in the day i use to use pouches all the time with big ass phones like the hitachi G1000 (google it) , the IBM Simon, and newer phones like the htc one max, and never had issues dropping it. lots of OG fold owners did not use a case on those phones and many had no issues.
sure some people are all thumbs with gadgets and that's why cases were made , but lets not post up that everyone drops phones because everyone don't.
matter of fact, my old school nexus 6 - i used a pouch with it, and still looks great all these years later...
Just a matter of time until fate shows you life isn't fair...
pouch
last couple days i've tried both of these cases and they are fine. i saw a cool looking case in the case thread i just picked up , but for now either of these are good for me.
Lowepro makes good gear. For a bare phone this is probably big enough as their internal dim specs tend to be generous. Belt or holster style mount with double lock velcro tabs that don't fail.

A B&H rep can tell you if it work... they are the best.
I use a shocksock. Works well.

Which model ? I've been wanting to a get a shocksock pouch for my fold 2, but they only make it for the fold 1.
The one for the Fold 1 fits the Fold 2 like a glove. Get that one!

Yes, I'm also using the Shocksock that I bought for my original Fold on the Fold 2 now.
Fitbag, a German pouch, is also very good, but exactly fits the device, so even a thin back cover will make the device circumference too large.

Which make is the second, holster-like pouch?
Used Lowepro gear for over a decade. Holds up well.
You need a belt or horizontal strap to mount this. The double securing velcro fasteners stay put.
B&H... were the pros go. Massive inventory and no bs.

Just got mine, and it really does fit like a glove, looks like it was made for the 2 instead of the 1
I was actually looking for something nice, ie real leather, that sort of thing. I do thank folks for their ideas and responses all the same, I may go to the sock if I cant find a nice ostrich leather or something similar.

When I buy clothes I look for ones the will accommodate the phone and other gear;
BDU pants, and vests with chest pockets etc.
The phone gets it's own pocket... works well.
