SGP Leinwand case review - clip + smartcover - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Accessories

I have the samsung official bookcover case, and was quite satisfied with it, except for two points. The screen having to rotate each time I transit from viewing to typing mode, and the lack of a deeper tilt in viewing mode, especially when I have the tab literally on my lap. So, I was hunting around for something just as slim and light, but with more tilting options and came upon this:
SGP Leinwand case
http://www.amazon.com/SGP-Galaxy-Le...01VG/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1313357575&sr=8-4
I've been using it for a few days, and thought it ws worth sharing my review of the pros and cons of it.
Pros.
•Extrememly light and thin. Lighter than the sammy bookcover case and just as if not thinner.
•Premium quality leather and inner suede that have a great feel to it.
•Magnetic clip that keeps the cover in place closed and also when turned back open in handheld mode.
•Various tilting modes. The manual shows 2 viewing angles and 2 typing modes. One of each is done in a ipad smartcoverish manner while the other viewing mode is like a pyro/acase/roo clip cover.
•One extra typing mode, not mention in the manual, but possible by folding the first outer slip to support the tab. This one I liked the most cause it allows for instant transition from viewing mode to typing mode with out rotating screen and with keeping the power button and camera on top.
Cons.
•Expensive. Currently $89.99.
•Not as sturdy as the official bookcover, since its leather all over.
•No opening to plug in charger when the case is closed, though power button and headphone socket is accessible.
•Inevitably, like all smartcoverish cases, the inner suede can pick up dirt from the surface it touches while folded backwards.
Overall, I enjoy the combinstion of a slim clip coverish back and its viewing angle and the viewing and typing angles provided by ths smartcoverish front. Also its so light and the leather texture quite nice, that I don't need to take the tab out at all. It also comes in other colors, purple, red and brown, though dull black ws my choice. But not quite sure whether all this really does justify the high price. Still, I think its worth a look when choosing cases.

i am so saving up for this case. My SGS2 is already on SGP cases (ultra air and neo hybrid) I love these SGP products
Does it include a screen protector?

Does this come with a second job? Cause I'll need one to afford it. =/

Unfortunately no. But the quality of the case did tempt me to consider their screen proctectors too. I have a Acase screen proctector which is fine, but reflect a slight oily color when the tab is off and under direct light.

It is pricey, though they seem to try to justify the high price by mentioning it is all hand made. I personally don't really need hand made.
I doubt this design is an exclusive patent, so I was hoping that if pyro or other case manufacturors saw this, they might build similar but less pricey cases.

All I can say is that I really like the desk. Especially because it has good thick pieces of wood instead of some less expensive MDF types...

This thing is really expensive but I have to say I'm sold to the tablet after seeing it ! Thanks a lot

I was wondering if I should get this case, but no idea if there were any magnetic clips to hold the case in place because the first few variations of the Leinward case for the iPad did not have the magnetic clasp. Now that you have confirmed the existence of it, I have no reason to ponder anymore. Thanks.

Selling my Leinwand case
Not sure if it is okay to post this, but thought I should sell it to people interested. (If this is inappropriate for the board, I'll take it down)
I switched to a SGT 8.9, so my Leinwand case has become redundant, and thought I might as well sell my SGP Lewinwand case for SGT 10.1. It's a really nice feeling lightweight and versatile case, as I wrote in my review, and though mine is second hand, it's in very very good condition.
I brought it for 89.99 and will sell it for 40 dollars. Anyone interested, please PM me. Thanks!

[Review] Seidio Innocase for Vibrant

So the first thing I noticed was that this is not a slider, but a front-and-back snap case. The product description says "Unique snap together design and opening slot makes putting on and removing your case easy" but for some reason thought it was a slider like the Surface II for the Captivate. So, it's not their fault I misunderstood.
Since the front bezel cover is so thin, my initial impression is that it seems a little flimsy. The back cover is also quite thin and has no lining like other Seidio cases. I think this was a conscious decision in order to keep the case as slim as possible. The fit is quite precise, so I don't think the lining would really make much difference as there is no movement within the case.
Although the front bezel piece seems flimsy at first, it feels quite sturdy once you snap it to the back cover. I do have some concerns the clips that snap together will wear down over time if you remove the cover frequently. Only time will tell on that point.
It has Seidio's "signature soft touch finish" which is like a somewhat rubberized matte texture. It's quite nice, but attracts prints if you have oily fingers.
Overall, the fit is pretty much perfect and the cutouts are precise. It's very thin and has a nice texture. Of the six cases I have, it's certainly the nicest. It does, however, cost about as much as the other five cases combined - $29.95.
At $19.95, I'd probably recommend it in a second. At $30 I have some reservations, namely the long term durability of the clasps that keep the two pieces together.
Vibrant case wont work
should be gettin mine tomorrow....
i think they have 6 month warranty which actually does work. thats another big plus with this company.

Good to know. Hopefully won't have to use it.
Thanks for the review.
I'm still sticking to my white mesh case. I like really light and almost-not-there type of cases.
Thanks for the review, mine should be here within a day or so.
I ordered using the coupon code XMAS15 that was posted here. Not certain it's still valid though as the poster said it may expire on the 19th.
To the OP, how does the phone feel in your hands compared to what you had previously?
Also, did your volume buttons ever rattle? This is my only hesitation as the silicone case from t-mobile prevents the rattles I have from the volume rocker (which is loose).

For reference, I've had TPU's, hybrid TPU/Plastic (the one with hard clear back), a generic version of the Barely-There, and a flexible plastic perforated case (XMatrix Cover from DayDeal).
The added size and weight is similar to the XMatrix perforated case. It's not as slim as the Barely-There style cases, but I think it's definitely lower profile than TPU or silicone.
The finish is nearly the same as the Barely-There knock off I have, but seems a little more durable (the coating on the old case started to come off within days). It's smooth, almost suede-like, but has a bit of tack when held in the hand. When put on a smooth surface, like a desk or on wood trim in a car, it does not stick at all. This is a bit of a negative for me. One thing I like about TPU cases is that they kind of stick when you lay them on a smoother surface (I usually put my phone on the wood trim next to the gear shift in my car) but are not tacky otherwise.
As for the volume buttons, mine are not loose so I can't really comment on that issue.
One other thing I've noticed in the last few days of using the case, is that bezel cover is attached to the bottom part in only a few spots so there is some give in the areas that aren't clipped together. I think they should have added a couple more contact points on each side. It's not terrible, but I'm a bit OCD so it probably bothers me more than it would most other people.
I'll report back, should be here anytime now.. thanks man.
Case is good, very slim and feels good in hand, not perfect like other Seidio products. Like the review states, the case is NOT slide-on which sucks. I dont know why they used clip-on design, with slide-on case could have been even slimmer and more durable. Fit is also nice, but also not perfect, phone is just a little loose in case, not noticeable right away until you play with it.

After waiting around for the SGP Slider, I was also hoping this would be a sliding case.
I did get to hold a Captivate with the Innocase II, which is a slider, and the fit was pretty awful. It moves around a ton compared to this front-back type. I guess I'll take this style and more precise fit over slider with a bad fit.
Is it the bump on the Vibrant that is the main issue with a slider?
I was a bit let down to find this was a snap on the front/back design.

it is nice and clean. my nexus one case fits better, but they probably had to make it clip-on design i guess for Vibrant bump
Nice review! I can't help but feel like Seidio threw this product together in a hurry, after they realized there are people with Vibrants. It just looks cheap compare to their other offerings.
Just got it. initial impressions:
1 feels great in the hand. Looks good too.
2 I absolutely hate how easy it un-snaps.
3 I want to know their return policy till they have a legit case like the ones I am accustomed too from seidio.
4 it's much more difficult to press power now.
EDIT: okay, found out how to do the return, just waiting to hear back from them.

[Q] Piel Frama iMagnum vs Noreve Tradition leather case for Galaxy Note

I'm looking for a premium leather case for my new Galaxy Note and so far the only two that I've found that meet the quality I'm looking for would be the Piel Frame iMagnum and the Noreve Tradition. Which do you think is the better of these two or is there another case you can recommend that's made of high quality leather?
http://www.noreve.com/langue/en/product/Samsung_Galaxy_Note_Tradition_leather_case.html
http://www.pielframa.com/samsung-galaxy-note-cases-imagnum.htm
It would be hard to take a picture using piel one as you need to hold top cover part
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
I also just purchased a Note and also looking for a case. I also am debating between the same two and am leaning towards the Noreve since it opens down. The cover opening from the top will get in the way more. Price is also better.
Piel frama has actually a problem with the magnetic closing mechanism. The s-pen is not working there. They are working on it, and will drop the magnetic thing.
Noreve delivers after 15-20 working days after purchase.
... tapat*lked
I'm waiting on the official brown leather flip case. It looks super.

That doesn't surprise me in retrospect. The wacom pen is magnetic.
I ordered the noreve. Another benefit is without the (maybe now gone) wraparound clip, it should be more pocketable.

I saw the brown leather one in a German Youtube video and thought it looked pretty nice but that is the only place I've seen it and I can't find it anywhere for pre-order. I only see the blue, white and black versions of the Samsung flip case.
TBH, I remember getting a Piel Frama leather case for a PDA once upon a time which looks just like the one they have for the Note. it was bulky, the belt clip was probably cool then but as the Note is so slim anyway I'd not see any reason to bulk it up even further with that design.
The official leather sleeve looks a better option to me. Currently using the flip cover and it's great, but if it turns out to be too bulky for a dock then a slim sleeve would be my next choice. A belt clip is so 2005 .
Yeah I'm not interested in using a belt clip regardless if the case I buy comes with one. I'm just wanting to find something that will protect the device but also is made from a high quality soft leather that feels like it somewhat coincides with the price of the Note.
It looks like Piel Frama has already updated the case to replace the magnetic closure with a snap judging by the new photos on their website.
I bought a pielframa magnum case in the past for my HTC HD and the quality was suburb and the protection also because its a hard case but very disapointing it made the HD twice as thick and I suspect that will be the case with the note as well .
So if you want good protection the pielframa case will do the job no doubt.
But for me I wait untill I can buy the original samsung pouch to keep the note pocketable

Alright, I finally got my case.
I plan on posting a video review shortly, but initial thoughts:
It's a very nice case. It just looks very classy.
It looks much more professional than the PDair case posted in the other thread.
You kind of push/snap the Note into the case. It is quite secure.
Changing batteries might be annoying.
It does not make the Note much bigger - it adds maybe 2mm to each side.
The clip is well done and I like that it doesn't add to the thickness.
It is thicker (as will all 'covered' cases be, since you need 'hooks' to hold the phone in, and the cover on top of that).
Thickness was never an issue with the Note in terms of pocketability though.
One annoyance is that the cover is about 1mm wider than the rest of the case.
It's not a lot, but you definitely notice it when it's folded back and you're holding it that way.
It kind of digs into your hand a little bit. Not a lot, but noticable.
There is a metal logo on the top right corner of the lid. Their logo has a metal 'ball'. I'm wondering what effect this has if you drop the phone face down, since that's the initial point of impact. I might be overthinking this.
Some things probably generic to all cases:
If you use the belt clip (which I won't), you have a metal 'rachet' which does on the back. If you have that on the phone is a bit awkard to hold in your hand. It's poking into you, or if you have the back flap folded back, makes the phone quite thick.
One very noticable thing - on the 'naked' Note, the power button is higher than the rest of the Note (on that side), making it very easy to accidentally press. It's a common complaint. Now that the case is higher than the power button, it's quite difficult to accidentally hit the power button. That's a very good thing.
One subtle perk of a bottom flap is that you can hook your little/ring finger around the 'hinge' and you can get a little more reckless with how you use your thumb, without fearing dropping the phone.
It'd be nice to have the Piel Frama to compare. I suspect it's lusher, softer, and thicker, but it's also 45 euro more expensive. I'm pretty happy with my choice.
- Frank
I don't have any experience with a Norêve case (looks quite nice BTW), but I own 2 Piel Frama cases.
Soon it will be replaced with the Note, but now for almost 7 years I've been using my iPAQ hx4700 daily with a Piel Frama case.
It's really of exeptional quality (leather, stitching, fit) and still looks as if only used for a few weeks.
I also used a Piel Frama case with my former PDA for about 3 years, with the same experience.
It's true though, as written before, that the Piel Frama cases add some bulk.
But they certainly have a stylish professional appearance.

I do like the look of the Norêve case and agree that the flap opening to the bottom is practical, specifically for securing the Note with one hand (especially if you have smaller hands, as I do).
I'm curious which type and colour leather you've chosen for the Norêve case and if it looks in real life the same as on their website.

Hey,
to those who already have the case by norêve: what about the closing mechanism? This one produced some very ugly scratches on the plastic surface of my old mobile phone. So, I thought of never buying one with this closing mechanism again, but rather one with a magnetic one. But magnetic is bad for the Galaxy Note as the Pen won't work well.
So, what do you think about the norêve - will it be producing damage to the phone?

It's a curved piece of leather - I don't see it doing any damage.
It sort of bends 'over' the top of the phone and holds the cover there.
It works pretty well - no complaints there.
One last amusing thing - the case almost covers the top microphone hole. I kind of think they weren't aware it is there.
- Frank
I've had the Noreve for a couple of days now.
It is just perfect. Looks good. Functions good. Solid. And the leather smells like high quality leather, not some cheap crap.
I could not get a cheap case for a 600 euros phone. That's just not me.
The piel frama could be good also but I thought I could not take pictures with it so I went for the Noreve.
Cheers.

[Q] book cover case for 10.1

any review or comment on book cover case by samsung....
Mine just came today, previously I used a cheap fake leather case that made the tablet big an bulky, and it didn't feel very nice (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-Lea...ting_LaptopAccessories_RL&hash=item27c2fcc11c).
So I decided to buy the official book case from amazon, I didn't think it would be very nice, but it came today and I am very impressed. It looks very nice and expensive on the tablet. As in it looks premium, and not cheap like my fake leather case. It fits the tablet perfectly. It doesn't feel like a chore to have the case on, it actually makes the tablet very nice and very comfortable to hold. I would strongly recommend this case.
It feels nice, it's the thinnest book style case I have seen by a lot. It looks very nice & premium, and it will protect your precious tab. The only downside is that it is a bit expensive, and the weight with the case on is noticeably more + the cheap leather one is a lot more bulky and will provide slightly better protection at the expense of comfort and looks. I think it really is the best case by far for this tab, nothing come close in my opinion. I hope this helps you.
I was your 60th...
Had to thank you though because I'm looking for a great case.

Thank you very much
I've also got the Samsung Book Cover Case. I like it a lot except for one issue:
In typing angle, the tab is actually upside down. This causes 2 problems:
1. some apps that force landscape mode will default to the right-side-up landscape mode and therefore appear upside down. There doesn't seem to be any way to override this behavior on the tablet so you're force to physically rotate the tab and either lay it flat or use a steeper angle.
2. With the tab upside down, the ambient light sensor gets covered by the shadow of your hands while typing (or even swiping, tapping) so that the auto brightness feature keeps dimming and undimming the screen. It's pretty annoying. At least there's a workaround - you can disable the auto brightness.
Still, I'm thinking of trying one of the smartcover cases since those will let you set a shallow or steep angle with the tab right-side-up in either case.
Anyone compare the samsung case to a smart cover case. I'd be curious if they are any heavier or bulkier.
Oh, I'm also a little concerned the crease where the flap bends will eventually crack. Has this been an issue or is it pretty sturdy?
Thanks!

Case-Mate Tough Case and Krussell FrostCover review/pictures

So I've bought 2 different cases for my Z1, the Case-Mate Tough Case and Krussell FrostCover. Both will serve their purposes, the Case-Mate is definitely more durable, but the Krussell is more sleek and lightweight, plus has access to the magnetic charging. The pictures should show the difference in size (which there is quite noticeable between them), plus the differences in port access/coverage. I personally like the FrostCover for every day use, and I'll throw on the Tough Case for when I'm doing things outdoors. Both have very good quality. The only issue I have so far is when the Case-Mate is on, the power/lock button is sort of hard to press, sometimes requiring several presses. The Krussell is made of a really good plastic, accidentally folded it in half and there is no visible damage or cracking.
I bought the Krussell from mobilefun for ~ $20 CAD, and the Case-Mate I got a deal for through a friend for ~ $15 CAD.
There are a few pictures that I'm uploading; all pictures with the cases on the phones were taken with a Nexus 5.
One thing to note (not sure if it deserves a totally separate post) is that while both screens are off they look a different colour. This can be seen in the last two pictures. Different screens used maybe?

Thanks for the review. Looking to get a decent case for my Xperia Z1 as well but no decent cases are available where I live (Karachi, Pakistan). I have had my eyes on Case-Mate Tough Case for a while but it looks pretty huge and makes an already large device larger. Will probably call for these cases from the next friend/relative who is coming from abroad (USA, UK, Canada, etc.).
And yes! I also notice the difference in screens. 1 seems to have a yellowish tint while the other is completely black. Does the yellowish screen Xperia Z1 (Krussell) have that yellow hue problem when the screen is on?
Actually the Z1 with the yellow tinted screen had the Case-Mate on it. But it's only slightly noticeable. I can try to take pictures of it again with the screen on tomorrow when I have access to the other phone.

Thanks, hard choice, I prefer case mate touch but have just received a magnet usb charger hmm
I have the white version of the frost cover but I hate it.
The fit is not perfect and there is some give and squeak on the sides.
The cutout beside the camera is there for no reason whatsoever and there's a cutout on the bottom back for the Xperia logo that is also pointless since the back is translucent.
The edges are sharp and easily gather dust.
Can anyone recommend a medium hardness translucent case like the poetic atmosphere? They don't make it for the Z1 yet.
Edit: Judging from your photos they both have that arbitrary opening next to the camera, why is that?

Shenit Bumper Case Review (LG Bumper Clone)

There have been a few threads linking to the Shenit TPU Bumper Case that have kinda died out because, well, it's no longer available on Amazon despite having been available long ago with a very future ship date. I ordered mine when the listing first went up on Amazon and it just arrived today! Here are my observations and judgments:
The Details
The case is made from two materials: TPU and a hard plastic. You can see the two materials in the photos on Amazon. It's done in a way that is still incredibly low-profile. The TPU covers all buttons, corners/edges, and ports (not the camera lens nor camera light, though). The hard plastic covers the back, the back corners, and some of the sides. The hard plastic is a *perfect fit* over the camera lens ring - from the back of the phone it is 100% impossible to tell the color of my phone.
Something that can be very clearly seen in the photos, and is the same with the official bumper, are the angles at which the sides have. This causes the feeling that the back edges of the phone "stick out". This seems to be a love-it or hate-it thing for most people. I'm torn about whether I like it or not - it definitely seems different than what I'm used to. That said, this was by no means a surprise for me and I expected it to be just like this. So in my Pro/Con list, this is what I'm talking about with the "back corners sticking out".
Oh, and it came with a piece of red velcro for some reason!
The Good
Overall, it's a very nice and snug fit on the phone yet it's not terribly difficult (also not terribly easy, in a good way) to get it off of the phone. With this case on the phone, I'm certainly not concerned with the phone slipping out whether pulling the phone out of a purse with something tugging on the case nor with skinny jean pockets or anything else. The feel of it is a mix of a TPU feel and a "soft" feel for hard plastic (think the feel of the back of the black version of the Nexus 5 to mean what I mean "soft" for hard plastic, not Quicksand case "soft"). Nobody will have problems with this slipping in and out of their pockets nor is it incredibly slippery either.
For protection, this provides the protection you would hope from a TPU case and not much more. As you can see in the photos, every corner and edge is covered by TPU including the four corners on both the front and back as well as the edges along both the front and back of the phone. The back of the phone, however is only covered with the hard plastic. Take a look at the photos and you can tell where the TPU ends on the insides of the case and where the hard plastic begins on the outsides of the case. This case might protect your phone from a drop and it might not - just like with all TPU cases. If you buy this and you play first-person shooter games where you can change your armor out, this case could be thought of as light armor or perhaps medium armor but no where near heavy armor.
It is definitely an attractive (and Nexus branded!) case that doesn't look like what many of the other $14 cases out there look like. As you can see from the photos, the case is molded perfectly to fit with the camera ring cutout. Speaking of the camera ring, the case is just a tad thicker on the back side than your camera ring so if you lay it down on the back, your camera ring is no longer a protrusion. This may have some implications for those of you with magnetic accessories for the camera ring but I can't really comment much on that. Ultimately, unless you look at the port cutouts or see my white speaker on the front, this case makes it impossible to tell the color of my phone - that's how perfect the molding is for the fit. The ONLY flaw I could find with the case's fit was for the microphone on the top of the phone. The microphone isn't perfectly centered in the hole but it's also not covered either.
The Bad
There are three primary problems I have with the case.
First of all, a quick browsing at the time I wrote this turned up quite unfruitful in actually identifying where you can even buy this case today! It is now listed as unavailable on all of the Amazon postings and even all of the eBay cases that look just like the OEM bumper case have seemed to vanish. I'm curious if you can even buy this case anymore as I couldn't find it anywhere now!
So here's the first knock on the case: The buttons have a mushy feel with terrible feedback on the power/volume buttons. We all know that cases tend to be Good, Meh, or Bad here and this case definitely qualifies as bad. Sorry!
And the last thing:The USB Port cutout, while appearing quite large, is unfortunately too small for a variety of USB cables. The first 3 USB cables I randomly grabbed didn't fit comfortable in the space provided although the fourth one did. So you'll have to find a cable that will fit in there if you ever need one and don't use Qi for all of your charging needs.
Pros:
Nexus Branded!
Plenty of color options and cheap (it was $14 shipped from Amazon)
Great snug fit with perfect molding to the phone
Feels like you hope it would feel from the photos
Very low profile - better than your typical TPU case (except for the back corners sticking out)
Plenty of room around the 3.5mm audio port.
Won't affect NFC, Qi, or radios
Cons:
Hard to buy (no longer on Amazon and the eBay lookalikes are no longer listed either)
Took a month to ship
Bad button tactile feedback
Many USB cables won't fit in the cutout for the USB port
I hope you enjoy!!

I just got mine today too. I got the blue one. Does it feel like pyramid shaped to you? Mine does. The back is thicker than the front. Buttons are not that bad. Better than some of the cheap tpus. I can still see some white bordering the camera in the back. Not too bad a case. But the shape is weird. Does the original case have that pyramid shape? If you hold it by the sides you cab definitely feel that the back is wider than the front (lip).

Yup, I commented on this in my more thorough review. It's different than I'm used to but exactly what I expected from the photos on Amazon (and Google's OEM listings/reviews as well). I still don't know if I like it or not. Like you said, it's weird.

If I compared this to the worst TPU case I've ever had (and I've had some bad ones) that was rated as a 1 from 1-10, then I'd give this case a 2. You're right, there is worse. But not much worse - it's pretty bad. Maybe your blue one has slightly different buttons than mine but mine is pretty bad.
For the white around my camera on the back, I can't see any white whatsoever. At least I don't think I can even as I'm trying to look for it although I guess it's possible that the white + shadow makes it blend in with my light gray case. I don't see it, though.
Even no longer available but there are some cases like this in eBay if anyone would like to give it a try: http://www.ebay.com/itm/GOOGLE-PREM...Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&var=&hash=item3cdc425b73. But don't expect too much as this is chinese stuff. And Play Store now available for $26~ after 25% off (still got shipping fee+ tax).

That looks like the same case but is definitely different packaging than what I received. Thanks for the link though, I was unable to find those on eBay when I tried yesterday.

Uhh have you seen what most people have been saying about the official bumper? It's a low quality POS for the most part. Not worth full price, and even at $26 it isn't worth it with the peeling, staining, etc. Doesn't matter if it's from the play store. The unofficial ones might even hold up better, who knows, but the standard Google set with the official bumper case isn't exactly high. Besides, there's extra colors with the unofficial ones that some people might enjoy.
Anyway, if anyone still wants these ones I did find a link for super cheap. Of course it will probably take 3 weeks to a month to get to you, which is the case for most things shipping from overseas. But $12.99 shipped should make up for it. The Nexus logo is printed in a different color than the case on some of the color choices (just scroll down on the page to see).

God, it can't be any worse than the official bumper. I wish we had a better selection of actual bumper cases.
I'm using the Gray bumper clone for couple days. No staining (yet) , nice soft touch. Back panel is a bit bigger than front (as mentioned in 1st post).
I also have glass protector from Nillkin on, the case doesn't seem to push the glass.
Update: Now it has some blue from my jeans. sigh..
I may certainly be wrong but I'm beginning to think these unofficial cases are the same as the official ones, same manufacturing line and everything.
