Samsung SDHC - Still unavailable? - General Accessories

In January and February of this year, the press was just gushing about the Samsung announcement that they were going to 20nm process for flash memory, and were introducing Class 10 SDHC in 16, 32 and 64GB sizes by April.
Does anyone know what happened? My guess is that the fabs are running, but the silicon is ending up in SSDs, rather than in microSD cards. I'd love to get a fast 32GB module, but they just don't exist right now.
Has anyone found these in the wild? The Samsung production site does not show them as being available, or even in production.

A 64 would be useless. Most devices don't detect, and I think Android isn't compatible with it as a whole OS. Well not yet. Unless your gonna use it for something else.
As for the question, idk haha sorry. I just didn't wanna see you buy a ridiculously Expensive, awesome, and useless sdhc

Who ever said I wanted a 64GB? More to the point, where are the Samsung 32GB microSD cards at?

I don't know if I would go further more than 32GB, it would be a computer, or a tablet, and not fitting my phone.
but yes, I'm waiting for a 32GB microSDHC from Samsung, since I see that info too, a few months ago..

i found one at ebay but don't know it still available or not...

16 and 32GB MicroSDHC test

Having tested a 16 and 32GB MicroSDHC (Sandisk prototype): this is what Windows Mobile and S60v3 do with 32GB.
The cards work with quite a bunch of WM devices (if not all) even those of which the specs specifically claim that they can't work with anything larger than 8GB.
S60 shows '31 GB' and Windows Mobile 6/6.1 '31266.38 MB'.
The real capacity of the card is 32.785.301.504 bytes.
So when can I get one?
interesting
Good info, but still missing the most important info of all. When????
How about read/write speed? I'd imagine reading from a 32GB card may take a while for older PDAs. I have a Hermes/8525 device and so far it works fine with 8GB, but I'm concerned with going for 16GB or 32GB.
16GB will be available in Q4.
32GB somewhere in the first half of next year.
Pricing unknown, but I guess that 16GB will have an intro price of something like € 100,00.
Wonder what the price will be like...

€ 100,00???? That is outrageous. I guess I will just have to wait until Xmas time to get an 8Gb. They should be pretty cheap by then and it will hold me until the 32Gb comes out. I have a 2Gb right now and it is a joke.
I find 8GB microsdhc already deadly cheap, it's costing around 20 euros with USB reader or SD adapter .
Only Diamond doesn't support memory card . Price won't be too expensive I think.

Should have waited for the Raphael .
Thanks for the heads up!
Been waiting for the 16gb's since... well.... February Quite disappointed it'll be Q4 for 16gb's as they should have been available in June I think. Oh well no matter, I'll get them as soon as they're available.
Guess the experience of the past year puts the 32gb somewhere in 2011

I've been waiting for these for at least a few months as well. Fortunately I read in the other thread that one of the e-shops informed that they would have them in 2 weeks time so hopefully we will get them sooner than Q4.
I really can't wait. I am currently using a 4 gig card and it is nice. Was considering getting an 8 gig; however, decided to wait for the 16 gig to come out. 16 gigs would be sweeeeeeet. Still I would rather have a 32 gig card but I emagine it will be a while before these are released and I have waited long enough already. I will get a 16 gig card and then a 32 gig when it comes out - Whenever that is.
I'm waiting too for a card with more than the 8 gb. When I bought my device, the first thing i did was buying a storage card with 8 gb and some weeks later the card was full with stuff like navigation software, ebooks, offline wiki, games and other data. My opinion is, that there can never be enough space. *g*

Really? I'd find 64gb totally enough to fulfill my needs. BUT! there is always that 1% chance that the card might fail and you'll lose all that 64gb. I wouldn't mind losing 8gb, but 64gb I would have to keep like a separate pocket hdd to keep it all backed up.

All my data (PC and PPC) are backed up on an external hd. A fail of my card or hd would be annoying, but it would be no problem. And I guess, the next step from 8 gb is 16 gb, 64 gb is anytime in the far future In the case of a need for a lot of hd space outside of my home, I can use my ipod or the usb stick in my car.
I think i remember reading somewhere that 32 gig will be the max for SDHC or was it 16 gig. I really can't remember. Anyhow. The point is that once SDHC has reached it's full potential, we will be looking at a new class of cards which our current devices will not be able to support
Edit: Silly me - 32 gig will be max I guess- as this thread states it was tested 32 gig Micro SDHC

First SDXC card unveiled. Anybody working on a driver?

So, it looks like there's already a SDXC card. It's 32GB and read/write speed can hit 50MB/s. Not too shabby. Anyway, I was just wondering if anybody knows about any work being done on a driver for this; either by HTC or a third party.

I'm sure there is work being done, but not for any devices currently in existence. SDXC is not compatible with SD/SDHC devices.
Current expectations are for SDXC devices to begin hitting the market around the first of the year, according to CNET.
Which, of course, is a vast conspiracy aimed directly at me, since I was planning to get a Touch Pro 2 just about that time of year, and within 6 months HTC will come out with an SDXC-capable device.
doies this mean the 32 gb sdhc has been cancelled

FYI, 32GB SDHC cards are already in existance, however, I am guessing that you mean 32GB microSDHC cards. In that case...
If you recall, 4GB preSDHC cards never got made by major manufacturers when the SDHC spec came out (even though 4GB was the theoretical preSDHC max). However, small manufacturers did make the 4GB cards and they were easily obtainable on eBay. I infact have a 4GB miniSD from back them.
I would guess that even if the major manufacturers do the same, that is skip over 32GBmicroSDHC cards, the gap will be filled by smaller manufactuers looking to make a buck.

32GB has always been proclaimed as the theoretical limit to SDHC, as I understand it - in the sense that it might be possible to create that much storage on one, but no had done it yet, so it's not proven. However, more than 32GB is not possible with the SDHC standard, so if you heard reports of 128, it was likely referring to SDXC.
I image that once SDXC hits the market, SDHC probably won't have much more than 4 or 5 years of practical life left in it as device makers migrate exclusively to the more advanced technology - rather like you don't see many floppy drives anymore.

I guess there will be a price difference between the 16gb, 32gb and 64gb. Since there is a micro sd slot, what would justify getting a 64gb as opposed to a 16 gb and just load up on the microsd card (guess it would work with a 64gb micro sd).
I also would be very happy when we finally get decent storage options from Samsung, in stead of the crippled 16GB + 64GB micro-sd we get forced down our throats for 2+ years now. There isn't a huge premium either, well there is now with the niche (=almost non-existent) space Samsung has given it in the market. Apple despite its many faults offers all kinds of storage options without restrictions and delays.
I wasn't aware that apple allowed for more storage than the cards we get, coulda swore they were stuck with less storage overall an no removable..... So they have a bigger drop box? Is this what your saying

Go troll somewhere else..
I recently bought an iPad 3 with a continuous storage capacity of 64GB. Took me a month to fill it up, in a very straightforward manner. 12GB of this are Spotify music files which will be gone in 3 weeks or so, giving me some breathing space again. I bought the iPad because there still isn't a comparable (let alone better) high-end Android tablet available. Besides its superior screen, appearance and many more (exclusive) quality apps it is also the mediocre storage options I see offered for most Android tablets (especially those made by Samsung), which together were a big reason to go for Apple on the tablet front.
Mobile phone wise I have been a loyal Samsung customer for over 2 years, and would not trade my nearly 1 year old Samsung Galaxy Note for anything besides perhaps the SGN 2. I see the SGN 2 as their flagship model and a strong contender for best phone on the market. There hasn't been an Audio quality test on GSM Arena yet, but so far the only real let down of the Note 2 I have noticed is Samsungs continued budget approach to storage options.
The 64GB micro-sd in my SGN has been overly crammed for ages with vector maps, music clips etc. etc. But even if I didn't continually have to clean up the SGN suffers greatly from having only 16GB main storage. Many games (or Spotify for that matter) you cannot install/use with so little available main storage. The only option left open is to hack your 64GB to become your main storage, with its own drawbacks and quirks. I definitely don't want this cheap skate solution. So the only solid solution we get offered (again) is to buy a 32GB or 64GB version abroad (ebay) for a $$$$ premium when it becomes available in due cause.
Im not sure you understand math... To say im trolling and then claiming the 64gb ipad 3 memory is somehow larger than 64+ 16...samsung, hell if you get the 64 gb version of the samsung you have literally double the memory of the isheep
64 is not greater than 80...and i can move the 64 on the card to another device if i want; get a decent card instead of a crap class 2/4 and youll understand.

I think you need to re-read his original post. -sigh- I know I'm feeding the troll here but I'll do it anyway.
He is saying that, Apple presents and releases the phone with all memory options available. With the iPhone you get 32/64gb variants right off the bat. You don't have to worry or wait for months at a time for a phone with more memory to come out.

32GB version

WHERE can I purchase the 32Gb version of the Galaxy Note 2?
So far I can only find the models with 16Gb....
Any ideas?....:fingers-crossed:
Nowhere yet I'm afraid - release date is speculative ATM - I'm holding off until its released - hope its not too long :0( if we get to next feb they'll loose a sale as ill then wait for the SGNIII - which will probably be released in same way, and I'll wait again for bigger memory, it'll come late and ill wait for IV......repeat till SGNXXX when the smallest memory they can make is big enough lol
Silly really, one thing apple do reasonably well is release all memory sizes at same time (not so good with colours). If this had been 64GB, or even 32GB on release I'd have bought by now (even without LTE) - 16GB really isn big enough, especially as its not the simplest task to get apps onto the external SD
Here's to keeping fingers crossed for 32GB soon, not holding breath for 64 this year :0(

ok so maybe i didnt see the announcement for the 64gb s3 as you say few days a go but i did say rumours for note 2
i contacted samsung support but no reply as of yet on date confirmation on note 2 32gb.. if it really is next year then may as well get 16gb with a 128gb micro sdxc card which too are rumoured soon
Forget about it.
Micro SD is very cheap now.
grab one Note 2 and try, really amazing all-rounded design.
U would not wait for another few months for the bigger volume version

someone correct me if im wrong but note 2 supports up to 64GB SD card max...
yeah i need a 32GB internal.. i do have a 32GB SD.. just hate how some stuff need to run only on internal sd:silly:
i too thought it was 'max upto' 64gb micro SD cards but aparently thats for SDHC micro cards when it comes to Micro SDXC cards its different and they support whatever the card size is due to a different file structure.
hence rumour has it samsung are releasing the micro 128gb SDXC before christmas.
thats was told to me on another thread currently running that i commented on questioning isnt the max storage 64gb for note 2.
hope that helps
You'll need to check with a dev but in my current phone the SD is partitioned and all my apps install into the partition as though it were internal memory. It was crucial on my gf's htc desire (bravo).
Just a thought, personally 16gb is enough for me, but then again I UNINSTALL things

On Newegg you can buy the 64GB ones from IC Pro (based out of Taiwan I think) for $10 less than Amazon+SD card reader, but I don't know if they're as "legit" as these. When I get my GS4 I'll try one out. The speeds are very enticing.

I recommend the Sandisk Mobile Extreme series. I have a 32gb, which is cheaper than the Samsung in the OP, and it's quite fast.
However, the card in the OP would also be a fine product. I have a Samsung 830 in my notebook; I trust them to produce and sell quality flash.

I would avoid these. Buy Sandisk or Samsung UHS-1/Class 10 (make sure it's both; some older UHS-1 cards are not Class 10; UHS is read speed, Class is write).

I agree, stick with Samsung and/or PNY .... some ADATA's are made with Samsung components so you may luck out.
Samsung's IMO are the best. They have always produced the fastest read/write speeds and I've had ZERO problems with Samsung. S.Korea's got it going on...impressive.
I've had trouble with SanDisk, however, I think I may be in luck with the one that I have now as it was the newer release Class 10. The first releases sucked big time.

Their lower-end cards are not special, and the older Mobile Extreme series (which is still sold on Newegg) was Class 6, thus also not special. My current ME 32gb has been a rock.
Indeed, as my current has been great too...
Now I'm curious if TM will release a 32GB or even a 64GB variant of our phones....maybe they'll stay on the same path as the Note II in just releasing the 16GB...ehhh...off topic...I'll post it up in the proper forum.
