Hey,
Some information that may be useful:
It appears that you already have the Gingerbread source. I checked the official Gingerbread Callisto kernel's .config, and it has some new definitions for targets that appear in the Gio source code. Therefore I'm pretty sure that this archive from Samsung's OS site contains the source you need: GT-S5660M_BMC_Opensource.zip
I recommend you use that source unmodified in combination with the newer Gingerbread bootloader (i.e., don't use any of my patches for the G5).
One more thing: I discovered that later AR6000 drivers actually support WEXT in the supplicant. Therefore, I recommend that you change the supplicant from AWEXT to WEXT in BoardConfig.mk, and -Dawext -> -Dwext in init.gt-i5510.rc. You may want to try the v6 supplicant, but try v5 as well.

Hey willing,
Don't need wait for samsung release kernel source.
We are working in it, make a fork.
It's 100% working.

Already test this kernel with .config.pinkflozd, yeah it's 100% work hope the beta version will release with this new kernel.

Not AZERTY, but in case anyone needs it, I've created a layout file for QWERTZ (German) hardware keyboard:

Proximity on Second Alpha
I try to compare the init.rc & init.gt-i5510.rc to stock GB 2.3.4 init.rc I found that proximity device setting didn't exist in 2nd Alpha config. Can I enabling that device only by adding the missing lines or must have the drivers too to make it works?
Stock init.rc:

Samsung has released the official Gingerbread update only to one baseband and that baseband is from EU.
If your baseband is the same baseband as the update, you can update via Kies. Otherwise you can't. You're gonna have to do it via Odin if you're really up to it.

[DEV] Kernel 2.6.27-community (Version 1.4 - 03/11/09)

Disclaimer: For devs only. Updating to it will wipe your device. I am not responsible of any damage of any sort or data loss or anything. Alway do a nandroid backup before updating
Kernel android-msm-2.6.27-hero-community
The purpose of that community project is to have an optimized hero kernel based on HTC kernel sources.
Current release: 1.4 [download]
Features:
- compcache with ramzswap enabled
- /system/etc/init.d init scripts support
- some init script (firstboot, userinit)
- CIFS support
- Ext4 full support
- Removed DEBUG options
- All bluetooth options (don't know if needed ??)
- Droidwall support
- Pptp support (need testing)
- IP Gre tunnel module
- SquashFS 3.4
Links:
Git
Wiki
Issues tracker
Note: devs, as a community project, you patches or configuration corrections are welcomed. Feel free to submit.
Note: if anyone needs it, in the downloads section of the git there is the patch to apply to android-msm-2.6.27 sources so they compile for Hero.
Note: this kernel does not support modaco roms, the reason is that modaco rom is dependant of scripts called from kernel ramdisk, witch is not good. If you use Modaco rom, use teknologist kernel (http://ow.ly/yCxu) witch have similar tweaks
Changelog
Version 1.4 - Nov 3rd 2009
- added ext4 full support
- some init.d scripts (firstboot, userinit)
- squashfs 3.4
Version 1.3 - Nov 3rd 2009 (test build)
Version 1.2 - Nov 3rd 2009
- added ext4dev support (ext4 support in git, update.zip coming soon)
- added pptp support
- removed kernel debuging options
- added ramzswap init.d script
Version 1.1 - Oct 29th 2009

- fixed wlan.ko
Version 1.0 - Oct 28th 2009

Thanks for the hard work and more importantly sharing!..... this will be very useful once Ive got my oven sorted
Lox could you also post the version number of compcache that is integrated ? (and version numbers for future addons) cant wait to test the next release
Edit: Do i need to wipe the data before i update to this kernel? because i cant turn on wifi

WHOA!!!
LOX u have got really close in getting those nice roms and fancy stuffs in hero. so this is the base of all roms and fancy things.
CONGRATS BRO
New version 1.1.
Now you can have init scripts in /system/etc/init.d. /data/init.sh supported too.
To run Compache and have a really faster kernel, follow this how to. Busybox is needed (here is an update.zip to install it)

thx lox, thread sticky
I managed to use nandroid's restoring method and put new boot.img back without any data wipe. Here is how I did it: Make a nandroid backup first, and copy the latest backup files to your computer, replace original boot.img to the new one(community version). Then edit the value of boot.img in nandroid.md5 to the proper content and match your new boot.img. Finally just restore it in recovery mode.
If the wireless function isn't working after boot, you may also need to push it via adb:
adb push wlan.ko /system/lib/modules/wlan.ko
adb shell sync
(reboot again)

You WILL need to port over some of the drivers from the Hero kernel HTC released a while back (which was 2.6.27 btw).

working VPN modules 2.x roms

Hello,
I compiled the missing vpn modules for the hero eclair kernels (2.6.29-8d063048 and 2.6.29-877eaf14).
modules compiled: tun + all ppp (l2tp not tested pptp and tun with openvpn working).
For openvpn you need de openvpn package and tunneldroid (market).
all files are packaged as update.zip
happy tunneling
Didn't check yet, but why are your libs and binary so big?
Did you enable debug? Didn't you strip symbols?
In contrast, my openvpn binary is barely 350Kb.

The openvpn binary and libs are not mine so i can't say anything about that. Changed openvpn for smaller version.
thanks for the work!
but i tried villian2.1 rom and espr 1.3 rom(the kernal version is 2.6.29-8d063048),non of these works.
could you please put more details on your fix?

OK, i figured it out. Only problem with villain rom is it doesn't run the 05vpn init script in /etc/init.d/. It's a known problem in the villain rom (i checked the villain thread and saw multiple posts about that).
you could try this:
install Autostart from market
adb shell
mkdir /data/opt
echo "sh /system/etc/init.d/05vpn" > /data/opt/autostart.sh
chmod 4755 /data/opt/autostart.sh
reboot phone
There will be an su request. I need to restart my phone a second time, but after that it works.
thanks dude!
it's now woking well!!

Camera fixed
All missing proprietary files added to vendor file. Camera works. Everything now works. Will upload new rom shortly or you can push the files below to /system/vendor/firmware.
Enjoy.
Uh. Anyone tested this?
It's pretty hard to get any testers, since the rom itself does not offer anything extras. Or at least extras are not advertised. Most chefs cook roms and advertise either mods, or tweaks, improvments, etc.
I'd hapily test a new rom if there something new to test about. But just another AOSP rom does not apeal much.
Personal hint, try to compile with ICS in tablet mode. There is a guy on rootzwiki, who compiled such a rom but for the CDMA version of the GNexus. Now that I would try.

First, thanks for the attachment! This fixes my Camera but not my GPS. Maps/Navigation is stuck at "Searching for GPS..." which I'm sure is due to missing proprietary vendor files like the Camera was.
Second, everything that was uploaded to MegaUpload.com is no longer accessible since that site has been seized by United States law enforcement (FBI).
Lastly, can you attach those in accessible files in a new post or upload them somewhere else? I personally would be glad to test your AOSP 4.0.3 IML74K ROM simply for the pure Google experience.

/system/vendor/lib/hw/gps.omap4.so

Thanks for your effort!
Great!!! Can I use this rom in a P1000L? can you explaine me the procedure, I have humberos rom 2.1, GB 2.3.3 2.6.35.13 humberos kernel.
Thank you

Fantastic work. Please continue bringing joy to our TAB
It can be installed on top of gingerbread 2.3.6 without problems?

dear sina, I just tested your rom using overcome 4 kernel, and doing a full wipe. quiet smooth and promising. keep on good work
just have a question, I have to mount mnt sdcard as emmc sdcard(last line of your adb command) everytime i restart the tab. Is there anyway to do it automatically, for example putting that in a XML file or something?
I'm not so expert in these thing, any help would be appreciated...
thanks

It's possible, by a bash script in init.d, but I've tried it with no result. I think my bash script had some problems that I wasn't able to fix them.
But It's still present in init.d folder, and I think more talented devs can easily fix it.
hey~
i flashed with P1000N-CM9-HumberOS-Kernel-20120128 But the system notice unknow baseband version
what's wrong
great Job Sina. I'll try it asap
Just installed!
Installed and flashed well on my TMobile GT-p1000. Everything is working well short of the obvious problems with card and Wifi!
Any idea when the WIFI will be working? seems like the only thing missing from making this a daily play toy!
Thanks for the hard work!
I guess that now that cm9 has become so stable it's only a matter of time before this gets updated with the new kernels and builds.

Fixed in the OP (post is based in my experience with Defy red lense, so OP will be updated with further improvements).

- To be able to install some apps that require writing to SD, you'll need to download make_ext4fs binary to /sdcard/Download (for example) and open any terminal emulator and:
Code:
$ su
# mkdir -p 0775 /data/app-asec/
# mount -o rw,remount /system
# cp /sdcard/Download/make_ext4fs /system/bin/
# chgrp shell /system/bin/make_ext4fs
# chown 0755 /system/bin/make_ext4fs
# mount -o ro,remount /system

It will be fixed in next releases ? Dont want to download and write on terminal emulator.
CM10 with Chrome
I have been using Qurax's CM9 build for a period already, yesterday, I upgrade it to CM10 build of 18-7-2012. The user experience with CM10 is excellence, however, i encountered error with Chrome. Everytime I want to launch Chrome, it replied the follow
"Critical functionality required to run Chrome is missing. Either your Chrome installation is incomplete or not compatible with this version of Android"
Chrome worked fine while I was using CM9, however not with CM10. I had tried to uninstall and reinstall from Play Store, also tried to clear cache/ dalvik cache, but nothing help.
is there anyone else also experiencing the same problem.
My device is a Defy with red lens, I use Defy+ build with 4.5.2_DHT-22_kernel.
Most certanly it will be fixed. You can also do it with a root Explorer app like solid Explorer. Really awesome how fast quarx, maniac and epy are THX for this hard Werk. It always linke a New phone

According to his Github, it was fixed yesterday, so that's why I assumed it'll be.

I don't think it'd be needed, but it wouldn't hurt either

I tried without doing a factory reset and got stuck in a boot-loop, so will recommend it.
I noticed on the forum in the developer section that someone posted about the gallery and apollo not showing their photo's/music. I had this on CM9. I managed to fix it by navigating to my music through file explorer and getting it to play in apollo. After that all my music was listed and photo's.
OP, if you really want this thread to take off, you could collect all the problems&solutions that are mentioned in Quarx's official JB thread... That could be SERIOUSLY useful!
Not working or messed up :
-Torch in notification drawer toggles
-Some gapps builds cause double or triple apps (gallery, camera etc)
-Capacitive buttons aren't lit when the screen is on without reseting brightness
Guys that have problem with 1%battery steps :
Open /system/build.prop using Text Editor, navigate to the following line and make sure that it's the same as mine : persist.sys.one_percent_batt=1
If you can't find it, add it at the end of the prop
Tried 19.07 defy+ build. Did not have any problem with Google Apps. As expected unable to answer incoming call. Fix offered in the thread (disabling sound) did not help. IMHO CM9 is faster ATM. Google Now is cool, but gave me some FC´s.
Red lens Defy, 20th July Defy+ build by Quarx working Very Well.
Notification Power widget for 2G/3G toggle has no effect/ does not work
Settings>About Phone>Status & Settings>Wireless&Networks>ore>Mobile Networks ... No HWA
Many Many Thanks to The Developers!!!
ADOBE FLASH PLAYER STILL NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ALL MY ICS ROMs....
VERY DISAPPOINTING
ANY SOLUTION?
There would be no Flash Player support in Jellybean according to Adobe.
There is Flash Player for ICS. You can not use it with Chrome though.
