Touchwiz UX for XOOM - Alpha Stage - Xoom Android Development

Hi for all.
Its my port of Touchwiz UX for XOOM in early alpha stage.
Pay attention!
This is not final version, errors and bugs may occurs.
In this first step i make a package of launcher only, apparently fully functional. To test this, u need root and push twlauncher.apk to /SYSTEM/APP. If u dnt like and like to revert, simply remove then and older launcher will be reverted back.
Like my work? Pay me a beer.
new alpha or beta releases will be posted in this thread...
bug reports are welcome..
requests are welcome too...

- for users thats experience fc when put widget on homescreen:
1) confirm the "twlauncher.apk" posted on "/system/app";
2) if yes, please, catch "logcat" in the action. To do this...
* connect your device on pc. In my case, when i connect xoom in pc, its prompt me what storage i like. Wherever... its not important in this case...
* run in prompt "adb devices" and check if xoom appears;
* run "adb logcat >logfile.txt" to catch logs;
* in device, try to put widget;
* when fc, tip ok and press "Ctrl+C" on console to stop catch of log;
* zip this file and send me
3) if not, please, put application in "/system/app". Its dnt work on "/data/app"...
in my device this problem not occurs. i using stock 3.1 MZ605 image with Framework-res.apk modifications to enable SMS-Voice-SIP.

Taking a time to study android core to add possibility of use another system signature.
By default, android blocks a some of privileges to applications that not have the same system signature of compiled core. In my mind its insane!
Mini applications uses some of system privileges. I dnt change system signature.
At this time i making a system to catch user authorized applications that not have the same signature as system. In other words, adding a "liberty" to android.
This limitation is a piece of crap...
## 20111028 ##
Little pause in this dev because i brick my sgs with new kernel and work in a correction... Retrying soon as possible...

[Reserved for future use]

Any screenshots or anything? I'm really interested in this, but want to see pictures before I finally root my Xoom and get installing.

Its occurs for security reasons.
the permission BIND_APPWIDGET only works if appl installed on SYSTEM.
updating first post, root needed and application must be in SYSTEM

This is just the launcher guys not a full ROM port. Should be moved to themes and apps.

Yes B Dizzle....
I write this information in first post. Its launcher only. Themes envolves changes in system packages. Its my last feature.
For me the major features was launcher, applications and tricks in default bar...
I dnt provide in any cases a full rom. If u like feature, u install these. I dnt like custom closed roms.
This alpha release opened in this thread to many peoples test and give me a feedback. In theory, this launcher works fine in any devices, not xoom only.

upon opening the app drawer, i was prompted with the pop up explaining how I can use the motion sensor to reorganize the selected app from page to page. a great feature in touchqiz UX. however , it does not work on the xoom. has anyone gotten it to work?

Motion Sensor feature does not work at this time.
To enable this i will edit system files.

very interested with this..
thanks for you work..

I've been using this all day on my European 3g xoom running derivative of Tiamat rom. And so far its running really fast and smooth. Whereas when I revert back to default honeycomb I end up laggy launcher. So back to touchwiz and fast and smooth again. Looking forward to seeing the touchwiz features begin to appear. Big thanks.

Dev never puts instructions, never supports his rom. Doent even put a link on here to download it.
Then when you get it installed, it doent work.
I would stay away from this. Dont support Devs that do these things
bad links
I know this is an old thread but is there any way I could get this rom on a mirror link that is working, the main link on the tread just keeps sending me to livid download manager, the same as the blogspot posts do. I don't want a new download manager I just want the rom.

The scripts I'm referring to are the install scripts that tells the device what to do with the files. The rest (which I forgot to remove) probably aren't doing anything yet.
It doesn't remove anything its just like flashing any other ROM in CWM or Rogue.
first thing i noticed after flashing that you get a popup message to choose between setup wizard or deafultactivity, when i chose setup wizard i ended in a select language loop when i choose English us it says just a sec and then back to the same choose language screen, i had to reflash cause i chose setup wizard for default, when i choose deafultactivity it skips the wizard and starts, that's the first thing i encountered, i will keep u posted.
This is build is far more complete than the other ICS build. Video acceleration works properly allowing HD youtube and HD flash video to work properly. I am very impressed with ICS. Even at the stock speed, everything is so fluid in a way that overclocked and tweeked honeycomb could never approach. I can't go back now. Hooked. I'm sure you guys will get everything working before too long.
Do you suggest a full wipe if you are coming from the other ICS rom? If not just wipe cache and dalvick-cache?
Thanks for your work.
Must resist...

Well like I said I compiled it from Google Source and my "Real" name is Mike but don't tell anyone. When you compile it, it ask some questions and as we are both finding out thats were it goes. Should have used Zone23 I guess.
Thanks so much for putting this rom together. Now the xoom feels like its as fast as the specs say. No browser lag and I can't find any lag at this point.
One minor issue I'm noticing is every word I type is showing as not in dictionary.
hi there, i tried the aosp ICS build and i am very excited with the overall system performance.
any SU-related activity crashes in the other build, what about this one ?
Is voice input, Google music and gta4 working ?
kudos to all devs and cookers for bringing the new android revolution to our beloved tabs :-D

Great job! Wifi Xoom from latest Tiamet 2.3.0. Wiped catche and Delvic only. Works great! Had to reboot to set up my Exchange mailbox. Not sure how to set up my pop mail accounts. Spell check going wild. Everything is underlined. Very minor stuff can't wait for Team Tiamet to release the real thing! But this is a great appetizer, will Try to use it as everyday system. Have Nandroids. Is this compatible with the latest Roague Kernals and cwm recovery?
Never mind, pop accounts set up. Calender works great. Web browsing and mail increadibly smooth. I can*t quantify it but has a very smooth feel.
can someone plz confirm how is ZONE version of ICS??
does Tegra graphics & hardware graphical acceleration work properly on this one?
Anyone confirm Netflix is working on this version?

General Info:
More information about Firefox OS (B2G) is available here and here. So... I saw this and couldn't resist having a little sneaky play around with it. This is NOT a daily driver. This is NOT stable. It's pre-alpha. If you want something to use as a phone, this isn't it. If you just want to use your phone as a phone, you need android rom.
With that aside, and with the clear understanding that while this won't brick your phone, it's nothing to do with me if it did for some reason, or likewise if your cat (or other cute pet) suffers a painful death as a result of flashing this. At your own risk, like everything else here on XDA-Developers!
So without further ado, WTF is this? Well, it's a project from Mozilla (the lovely people behind the Firefox browser). I won't go into details, suffice to say I suggest you read a lot over at their wiki - start off at https://wiki.mozilla.org/B2G and work your way through the pages.
These builds can only be installed with CWM!!!

[ROM][AOSP-JB] Left handed AOSP with other customizations [Build 1, JRO03H]

So I'm a n00b and I'm just getting started with android hacking and compiling. I got a galaxy nexus and the first thing I noticed is that the navbar is on the left of the screen. Some other stuff I was pretty not happy about with just AOSP included the lack of a reboot (and to recovery menu) as well as the battery percentage at the statusbar. So naturally, I dove into the source code and started modifying for these new features.
I know there are probably a lot of left handed people out here who are interested in having the navbar during landscape mode (granted, I'm not left handed, but I use the navbar with my left hand, for some reason) so I've uploaded the otapackage for anyone who is interested!
Also plan on adding other things, including some stuff from CM like Apollo. I probably will migrate to CM10 later on, but since I don't actually have internet right now (sending this from a coffeeshop) at home, I can only stick with what I got .
---------------------------------------------------------------
Note: This is essentially the STOCK AOSP build but with 3 customizations. Everything else is left untouched!
FOR MAGURO ONLY!

That's my goal. I need internet to sync cm10, however.
Was able to get someone else to grab the source of cm10 for me on a thumb drive. (Tgz only 10.3gb)
Left hand mod is fairly easily integrated. Will upload once I get internet.
Also I probably want to do some of my own customizations like adding in the low audio latency mod as well, perhaps another thread will do..
This is AWESOME. When I got my Galaxy Nexus, I was told that it couldn't do this, and that it probably wasn't possible.

Nothing is impossible when you have the source ;p expect an upload of CM10 with this today afternoon, I've been using it for .a couple of days and it's even more responsive than the aosp build. Will also be submitting the patch once they get their navbar settings from cm9 ported to cm10
If anyone still cares, this feature is now pending in the CM10 review queue:

and

Hey I really would like to put my navbar on the left side while in landscape mode. I don't want to run pure AOSP or CM10 either. Don't get me wrong, they're great ROMs but I am currently stock on CodeNameAndroid (love it!!) 3.5.0 for the Toro/VZW model.
Is there any way I could get that on my current ROM?? I am a "noob" at Android hacking and all. Most I've ever really done that could even be considered hacking is modifying a few lines in my build.prop.
Could you maybe point me in the right direction as to how to get this done? I am a noob, but I have knowledge of ADB as well as Fastboot so I am not afraid to try at the very least.
Thanks for any possible insight you could provide for me!
The simplest way would be to just take patchset 4 of those 2 patches and apply it to your rom's source. Patchset 5 is cm specific. Then compile.
There isn't much else.

Thank you. Sorry to be a pain..i tried googling it to find it but i could only find one that would not install for me. Do you happen to have it so i could install it?
So i checked it over and Samsung Billing is already in this ROM. What isnt is ThemeCenter and ThemeStore. I added those both to System/priv-app and now tje Theme Store does not crash. However, when trying to start using the store, an error pops up as follows, "The device ID is more then 20 bytes". TW SLIM v1.3 etc...so im guessing the device ID used in creating the ROM is too large. Is there a simple way to edit the device ID in build prop to make it work without issue?

Click to collapse
Get root browser
Navigate to system
Edit build.prop
Just rename selection with tw slim
Save
Reboot

After just renaming to the actual device ID of SM-G928P. I was able to use the theme store with no issues. So anyone out there also wanting to use theme store with this rom, you need both ThemeStore_3xh.apk and ThemeCenter.apk as well as to change the device ID in system/build.prop
Thread closed as it will not be supported going forward.
