WP 7 keyboard for Android Gingerbread - Galaxy S II Themes and Apps

Just like to know if there is a copy of the WP or Windows Phone 7 keyboard that I can put on my Galaxy S2.

smart keyboard has a wp7 theme... some others do as well.

Where can I get Smart Keyboard from, is it on the Android store.

You can get it by browsing on the Market with your phone, type "Smartkeyboard" in and wait for it to get back to you. It's worth pretty much buying, just some bucks and you'll get the best Android keyboard ever created to work on your device

WP7 Marketplace & Zune's Marketplace

im a big apple hater but i was buyin my gf a mp3 player and had to decide between the ipod touch or the zune hd and i came to find out the zune hd and wp7 dont share the same marketplace...what gives with that?
the iphone and ipod touch have the same apps available between both and now with wp7 having over 4,000 apps in its marketplace i think its time for those 2 to share the same apps since theyre trying to go the same os route (lock down)
has there been any word on future versions of zune sharing the same marketplace as windows phone 7? anybody else feel like that would be key for both the zune and wp7 to gain marketshare...its all about apps these days cool ones...
and i hate apple but i bought her the ipod touch in the end it has apps for everything..but i hate itunes and the limited bluetooh functionality (no file transfer, no bluetooth file explorer on ipod touch)
i mean why wouldnt wp7 and the zune share the same marketplace?
because iPod touch, iPhone and iPad uses the same (only a bit costumized) OS. WP7 phones and Zune HD (neither any other zune till now) don't. But it's rummored that MS is working on a new Zune wich would use a bit costumized WP7... then the matketplaces will be shared.
I would expect them to now go and release a Zune Player with Windows Phone 7 OS, without the telephone function IE Ipod Touch but Zune.
Yep, if MS wants to win this war they need to get into the iPod Touch's territory. I know everyone wants to see WP7 tablets, but if you go to high school or college and see just how many people have an iPod Touch just to avoid the data plan you would realize how much potential is locked away in that market.
Trouble with Marketplace
Hey all,
I have a problem with the WP7 Marketplace, when i go with my phone into, select an app or game and want to install it, this error message comes:
"can't get this info right now, check back in awhile"
The joke is that when i try it connected with zune, then i can klick on install, i "buy" them.
Then a pop-up comes up where i am told that the program will install shortly, but in the end absolutely nothing is installed!!
Something strange is that the Space on my phone was getting more less so the programs should been transfered by zune to the phone but why they dont get installed?
I dont know if this is the right thread to post the problem, but you would really help me if you had an idea.
Thanks in advance

finalforce... are you using wp7 on a hd2? if so, check the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=802971 thread.
to be honest, we need to separate the windows phone 7 forum section from the hd2 windows phone 7 section. the reason is that many issues that get raised can get easily confused. mods can this be done?
Need help :
I'm from Malaysia... can't register for this zune under my country... i'd tried this Marketplace Enabler ; but it seems ain't working as it was created for previous version...
how can i tweak this Zune under my country selection ?

Android on HD7 (This is 100% real)

I can't believe that its already happened but The HD7 has gotten an android port.

Pretty slick. I would love to see Android on my LG Quantum. lol
My main issue w/ WP7 is that the APIs/apps don't exist ( sockets for 1 ) for doing things like streaming video ( a la orb ) and offline gps navigation.

What are you talking about? You can easily stream video to a WP7 device. Same goes for offline navigation.
Is it real 100% ?
Because they didn't provide any method and this a month of April fool day,
and one more.. how did they do it with what HSPL ??
Source of this video : XDA.CN
try setting up orb & go to mycast.orb.com, login & try to stream anything... ie on wp7 refuses to play any container, even asx files.
& offline nav... which offline nav app have you found in the Marketplace? Right now, I use TomTom 7 on my wm 6.5 phone. I also have A-to-B on my Quantum, but that is not an offline solution.
Navigon has to be side-loaded ( 'cause I have yet to find North American Navigon ) and then tricked into downloading NA maps from a local web server... so not very legit there.
Don't get me wrong, I do like Netflix and Facebook integration in wp7... I'm just irritated that this device was handicapped w/ the lack of APIs for normal daily stuff.

It has nothing to do with API's being missing - all the API's you need (for these two purposes) are there. If I'm not mistaken there are a few Orb clients in the works - but my point was that you can stream to WP7 just fine. Heck, you can stream directly from your Media Center PC at home over 3G if you set it up right.
As for Navigon - you're correct, it's exclusive to TMODE, but the app exists and works just fine, again showing you that all the API's are infact there. The only non-standard APIs Navigon use are those to identify your IMEI and IMSI, which would not be needed were the app not exclusive in the first place.
I'd rather see WP7 ported to Android phones than the other way around. The hardware is so much better on the Android side, I'm not sure why anyone would ever want to do this.
Why would anyone want to downgrade the OS??
I love my hd7....but I would like to see this come to life. Fingers crossed.
^^^ I wouldn't necessarily call it a downgrade... More like a 2nd option. I wouldn't mind having it.

Exactly.
Kinda like having windows 7 and Ubuntu dual boot...kinda
I'll say do I want android
I stopped developing for HD2 android to get wp7...I don't want to go back. Period
I would love to have this as an option. I'd still primarily use WP7 but it'd be great to duel boot and be able to use Android when I need or want something that is not yet available for WP7. I'd love it just to play Abduction! World Attack and for Google Nav.
I would love to be able to put android on my hd7.
Please give me more options guys!
Thanks!
Eww. I'd rather be able to dual boot WM6.5.3. Android is just a rip off of iPhone and WM6.5 anyways...

Which both ripped off of Palm OS (aka Garnet OS).
Please explain how Windows Mobile ripped off Garnet OS or any Palm Product...
Nevermind... You can't.
Don't see how this is possible without HSPL or Haret, he probably just put an HD7 front side case on some Android device.
edit:
how the hell did you guys go from Android on an HD7 to the same old idiotic "oh man WP7 sucks, WP7 is awesome, WM6.5.x sucks, Palm is awesome"
this has nothing to do with any of that garbage.
$5 says this thread will soon be full of the usual suspects bashing WP7 and its missing features.

[Discussion] Satisfied with Windows Phone (and the coming Apollo Update)?

On my blog, I recently wrote an article about some of the reasons why Windows Mobile 6.5 is still useful even with Windows Phone 7(.5) out. So with all of the news about Mango coming soon, do you think that Windows Phone 7(.x) has enough features to go ahead and completely replace Windows Mobile 6.5 or is there a reason why you still use Windows Mobile 6.5? For me (even though I do use Windows Phone 7.x), it's games and customization.

Update: I just got a part 2 of my article online and here's the link: http://catholictechgeek.blogspot.com/2011/06/why-i-still-have-windows-phone-65-even_07.html. Feel free to check out some of the other articles I have on the site as well. If you want, you can follow me on twitter too (link to my profile is @rctechgeek).
Update (6-25-2012): After a long while, I have finally updated my article with part 3, which includes the Windows Phone 7.5 "Mango" update (with a look at what has changed and what hasn't). Here is the link to part 3: http://bit.ly/LLsS7k
Update (6-28-2012): Part 4 is now up, continuing from where part 3 left off, for your reading pleasure. The link to part 4 is: http://bit.ly/NRzQdh
Yes, and yes. Im satisfied when Mango comes, but im not unhappy now ether. I recently sold my HD2 as my goodbye to WM. Keept my BA and some other old WM devices out of nostalgia, but there in there boxes now.
ditched my winmo as soon as windows phone was released and I didn't look back
Love WP7 as an OS, miss WM for it's eye candy/customizable.
One thing I don't like about WP7 is the Metro UI. While it is clean & what ever, it's missing the eye candy & ability to customize that WM or Android has. I understand a lot of people like it, but keep in mind that is an opinion. Not a fact & in my opinion, it's kind of dull looking.
All that said, I'll never look back at WM or Android. I just love how smooth WP7 is & the games/apps.
Yes n Yes. What I am missing most is garmin GPS (I live in indonesia and garmin is the only good gps with mapping system and POI here) and ability to search contact just like pc outlook, which will be sorted next update I believe
When I migrated from WM6 to WP7, I kept my old phone charged and ready for the first few weeks, because I wasn't sure I would be able to get by without some of the features it offered. Truth be told, it's now been sitting (uncharged) in a drawer for the past 5 months, and it will soon be sold. WM has nothing on WP7 in my book.
If, for some reason, it became necessary for me to leave WP7, I still wouldn't go back to WM, I'd go with one of the other modern smartphone OSes.
Yes...and hell yes!
Since the first day I used wp7 on my old hd2 I loved it....but then Android pulled me back in cuz hd2 didn't run it perfectly. And Android since then became annoying to me. iPhone was my first smartphone, and I found my self loading my screen with colorful icons I never touched. Android is good.....BUT even with a bloody dualcore it will lag and can't touch any wp7 device in scrolling. Wp7 is only getting better, and I can't imagine how wp8 will be plus windows 8 tabs.....God bless Microsoft!
Edit: I forgeot WM lol....it was cool for the few weeks i used it.
I have been a WM user for years... and I was excited when WP7 came out. I bought the surround Nov. 18th and it has been my primary phone. I also have some android devices I use for development and if it wasn't for the Zune media player and Zune Pass, I would be using android every day. I sure hope that Mango brings everything we as a group have been waiting for... Like multitasking and video MMS and......
Otherwise I am going to get an android phone for my daily driver and wait until WP7 matures some more.
But man do I love the Zune player and pass!
Though I love WP7 there are things that tick me off. Mango will correct them of course I just wish that MS gets to it fast and we do not see the cluster bang that we saw with NoDo. the problem really is twofold. MS really needs to push this OS and educate people on it. in metro Boston there is nothing on WP7 yet tons of stuff we see for android and ios. Secondly go into say a T-MO store and ask to see a wp7 device and get told why would you want that? we have this nice new samsung android here blah blah... MS needs to really step it up and get adverts out there that shows the OS and what it can do..instead of showing a bunch of peeps falling down or dropping devices in urinals’
I just converted from Android and I will not look back I love wm phone better than the other os out there I just wish they had two apps my bank chase and navigon or Tom Tom come on get onto this os it is great .
Sent from my T8788 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
There are some things I can't do, or things I can't run on WP7 that I was able to run on 6.5... But WP7, pre-nodo and now with nodo was slick enough for me to make the full change and simply adapt to it... I found it that good...
Mango will simply make it much much better...
The apps I miss off ole 6.5 are TomTom and Garmin... But Turn-By-Turn is filling the gap for now...
I first tried WP7 on my HD2 and the HD2 came alive and ran quick like it always could... 6.5 hobbled it...
The simple things done on the phone each day, like checking messages and emails and such is much quicker on WP7... Zip in, do what ya gotta do, zip out... Its the OS for the serious user...
Users who want a lot of fart apps stick with haemorrhoid and igroan!
Hi everyone. I have another article up with some more reasons that I keep a Windows Mobile 6.5 device handy. Most of them have to do with bluetooth, but not all.
link: http://catholictechgeek.blogspot.com/2011/06/why-i-still-have-windows-phone-65-even_07.html
For those of us who like games, you have to admit that Microsoft would make things a lot better if they made it easier to get console emulators on Windows Phone 7, right (you can run emulators under Windows Mobile 6.5)?

I'm curious to know how many people actually used contact transfer via bluetooth in Windows Mobile 6.5. It seems to me that was a handy feature.

I didn't I just sent my contacts to my SIM card and copied them that way. How ever I will not be giving up my 6.5 HTC TP2. Not until MS installs a "windows" explorer allowing me to truly use my device as I see fit.
As for the apps I know people are working very hard on them and they are coming, no different than WinMo 5-6.5 when it first came out. In three years time I'm sure there will be tons of stuff we have created.
I had the touch pro, touch pro 2, and imagio so i was pretty seasoned in windows mobile. I just recently got the HTC Trophy and im satisfied with WP7. No more lag, a browser thats dependable and can play most videos while browsing and not worrying about the videos making the browser close in the background because of too much memory being used, being able to open text messages without lags and freezes and reply instantly, much better keyboard and music player
theres only a few things that somewhat piss me off tho, no file explorer, no custom ringtones (coming in mango), no usb mass storage mode, no wifi tethering at the moment, and on winmo i use to download albums single mp3's through the web browser and i was able to add those files to my library on the go without being tied down to using a computer and syncing.
but other than those gripes i love wp7 and realize its still within its first year and i dont expect it to have everything right off the bat but i love the os and willing to wait things out its going to be exciting watching this platform grow.
WP7 is ok, I like its simplicity, but I really miss the openness of WinMo.
I can't stand the absence of USB mass storage, I can't stand to be bound to Zune, I can't stand to be bound to my PC, I cannot stand the absence of file management with file explorer...
I cannot stand not to able to play quickly my DivX|AVI movie files, after a simple drag & drop.
I cannot stand the lack of decent storage (no swappable SD card, no slot for SD card, pathetic 8GB only devices...)
In September I will probably move to a high end Android device.
All my friends that used to have WinMo have now moved to Android and they all so satisfied
I realize I cannot stand locked down OS like iPhone and WP7
I thought Mango would bring some flexibility and openess... But it didn't
WM is nothing in front of WP.. if someone has both WM and WP and chooses to use WM instead of WP, he/she obviously has some kind of problem in his life..

Or maybe, more reasonably, he just needs a flexible and open OS, without missing features.

Windows 8 and what it holds for the future

Hey,
I just installed the Consumer Preview, and I think we can find hints to WP8 in it.
For example, various hubs found on WP are in W8. An interesting one is the Messaging hub, which like on WP allow you to chat with your Facebook and Messenger contacts, I think the next logical step is SMS syncing.
Another thing I noticed is that Zune and Windows Media Player is completely missing. There's a seperate music and video player.
Also, when I plug in my HTC HD7 nothing happens. It doesn't say installing drivers, Phone found, .. nothing.
There are also a lot of mentions of syncing throughout the OS, syncing with other devices and users. I think this will eventually mean that alle info from your Phone can be seamlessly synced to your PC and vice versa, making things a whole lot easier when you buy a new phone. Just plug in, sync and go.
There are tons of similarities too.
Multitasking is much the same, you also get a small preview window of the app.
What did you find?
I pary every day that they change their minds and not release it for laptops or PC's. It's greate for touch screens and pads though but just doesn't feel the same on non touch devices; MS will be making a big mistake if they go through with making people use a mouse and keyboard on theire PC's and non touch screen laptops.
Im using it with a mouse, and it's just fine, I dont find it hard or unnatural to use.
Some ideas are brilliant and very innovative, like metro style switching between apps, screens etc.
But at the same time it's like a double OS what is just nonsense. Two different IE10? Idiotic. No background image under tiles? Tacky.
I think they have to unite it somehow, it's still looks like a half baked beta. I won't install this stuff on my PC.
I seriously have no idea what drives these guys, but it all looks like a half way through.
^^ You really would just be happier in Apple / Linux land.

Why?? I'm perfectly happy on Windows 7 64bit!
Super stable, nice looking, great features.
And a great environment for proffessional work, in my case music. Apps I use work great.
As I said, I wish Windows 8 beeing united without loosing current usability and ADDING some great 8's features.
They just want to push some stuff too much.
BTW, I seriously don't like Apple stuff at all.

they did that because some people would complain about being forced into metro, which isn't the case. But I guess either way they get complaints.

Well Zune was never preinstalled and when I connect my WP7 to a Windows 7 PC without Zune, it doesn't do anything either.
Windows Media Player is still there but it is just the desktop app.

no big MS stuff about windows phones
I tried Windows 8. It's not very good at all as a computer OS. I'm a power user, and I was totally lost. I can only imagine how confused your average Joe will be.

You were lost because you hadn't worked with it. Same as if you picked up an ipad for the 1st time, a phone with a different O/S, ect. It took me about 8 hours to get the gist of the flow. Once i did though, man it's fast. I wish though the ep121 tablet i have had the resolution for snap though. That's a little dissapointing. Other than that, it's fast and smooth and actually now i wish the desktop was gone completely and everything metro.
Also anyone else have any issues with the USA today app? Seems to crash on and off on me. Other than that everything seems very stable and i LOVE the onscreen keyboard. Nothing like the crap that i had to use with Windows 7 on the tablet.
Great news

Windows 8 is the most unintuitive crap I've seen.
Layers instead of logic.
Just hope it's just another beta and some sensible people will take care of this idiocy.

Will you also be supporting Windows 7? Not all windows tablet users (such as people with Intel Atom N2600/N2800 chips) have the option to use Windows 8, and unless this is an RT app I can't see why you couldn't also make it work on 7...?
I've installed it on my Windows 8 X64 tablet and whe I run it, it just doesn't work. TouchPalToolBar is into process list but I can't call it in any way.
Any advice?
Edit: after a restart it works, but the Curve feature not. When I swipe on the keyboard appears the blue line but it doesn't write anything.
The version I downloaded from their website was in Chinese. Did not have an option for English. If you have the english version, please share it or link to where you downloaded it.
Installed this on my msi 110w tablet with windows 8 and it's all screwy...
It overlays on top of the stock keyboard (you can actually see both of them at the same time)... Then it has two different keyboard layouts, but one is unresponsive.... Then the swipe function doesn't work most of the time... If the keyboard is enabled on a browser, you can't scroll the page, so sometimes you end up typing "blind" because you can't see where on the page you're typing.
