People already know about Ubuntdroid ROM for Samsung Intercept. Still posting Ud6 ROM link for new people.

I am not crazy about this ROM. Even though this one and the Brom are the only good ROMs around. Wish there was gingerbread on this device!

Noob Q... DK28 vs Community Roms

Sorry in advance for the noob question but I am new to this forum, and to Android in general. I recently Upgraded to DK28 using Odin on my Epic. I was wondering if there were any specific community roms which are better than dk28, and if so, which ones are they and what features do they have which the dk28 doesn't offer, and how stable are they? Which ones do you recommend?
Thanks.
Most ROMs now re based on DK28. Read some of the ROM threads for info... I recommend researching CWM3 and ext4,this may be needed on some ROMs...

Get nebula 1.0.7 its as stable as it gets. And its based off the dk28 modem. Stock dk28 isn't that geat so throw a custom rom over it and have fun!

Is there any ROM which includes an alternate place to get APPS, similar to the Iphone's Cydia? For a non-programmer whos lookin for a overall 'cool yet stable' rom, which one do you recommend? Does the installation of the ROM delete any information from the phone (contacts, apps, etc)? And can the ROM be uninstalled?
Going with the stock dk28 is a good first choice. As far as I know there aren't any repositories like cydia for Android. That is due to the fact that you can already install unsigned apps in your stock android os.
Number one thing to do right now is READ. The threads are very long, so maybe read the first few pages, and last few pages of the long ones. Usually the first few posts are new updates to the thread, and the last posts discuss the most recent happenings and general discussion of the current version of those roms. Reading the stuff inbetween can be helpful to know how far each rom has come since inception, but its usually irrelevant and you can skip over it.
I've used cyanogen for another handset and I thought it was very well polished. I really like the ACS Syndicate rom. Although its 2.1, I liked it more than stock dk28 2.2. Im currently on bonsai4all, which requires you to format your phone into ext4. Its another step beyond just rooting and booting an OS, but its really fast and stable. I've also used Viper rom. There is a good version which is dual boot (ext4, and RFS), and I was using that before going with bonsai. I would give a strong recommendation between those two.
I can't really see anything getting that much better than bonsai. I wont say its the best, but i'm very impressed. I can say I look forward to seeing Syndicate rom once it gets to 2.2 (they are waiting for official 2.2 source) and also cyanogen 6.2 or better yet 7 (non betas).
Lastly, if you see the words Beta, please dont ask "how stable is it?" Its a beta version and not designed for a daily use. Some betas are very polished and nearly complete, but remember it's still just a beta. hope this helps
In my opinion bonsai rom is the most stable and a new release is getting ready to be released. I'm on eof the beta testers for the new release and its getting.ready.to be released.

You will learn a lot reading the forum A lot of threads have sticky topics, that answer most of the questions you might get, pretty well.
One thing is certain - you will love the phone! The only downside for me is the batterylife, then again, most smartphones don't have great battery life.

Basically, the two different types of Rome are sense based (stock Rom with different modifications) and the aosp roms (built from sources, like cyanogen or aokp).you will find first type in android development forum, the aosp roms and kernels in the original development forum.
While sense roms are much better on things, that are connected to hardware, like battery life, sound quality, camera quality, the aosp roms are smoother (although with jelly bean sense roms, this is arguable) and deliver stock android exporience like nexus.
Now, the siuation with sense roms: since jb was leaked, the main ones are based on the leaks, but you can only flash them with newest hboot (bootlader). And this one you can only flash having the right cid (your location number, the European unlocked and Taiwanese are the only right ones for new hboot)

Firstly , welcome to the One X forum of xda !
I'll start from the basics as you asked .
If you want to flash custom ROMs , you'll have to unlock bootloader , root and flash custom recovery ( CWM or TWRP ) . Due to unknown reasons , HTC is not giving us One X users S-Off bootloader which unlocks a lot of features . But also , it's not much of a restriction if you're used to it . You can follow these 2 noob-proof videos if you want to root your phone .
Please read the quote I'm going to write below as it clarifies the reply of Zlotin's a lot .

There are four types of different ROMs which are Sense-based ( obviously you know what it is already ) , AOSP ( Android Open Source Project ) this ROM will give you the complete experience of android , AOKP ( Android Open Kang Project ) this ROM is much likely same as AOSP but it has more custom features and lastly the MIUI ( Mobile Internet/Mission Impossible User Interface ) this ROM is completely by itself , it gives you a ... kinda iOS UI and other custom features of its own . You can find all these ROMs in both android development and original android development forums . The different between these both forums is that Original means just that...originally built not just themed or apps changed or a few add-ons or tweaks. So there would be the original AOKP release, the official CM releases, original MIUI release, first and only first deodexed stock ROM, and kernels with full source link posted. Anything else is regular developement. The Original Development is to give added recognition to full real developers putting together actual code, not winzipping things together. Now the JB-Sense ROMs are final-versions which are not leaks as Zlotin said . But to flash JB-Sense ROMs , you need to have updated hboot version which is restricted by CIDs . Currently , only Taiwan have the officially released hboot as they have received they JB through OTA . The European ones are leaks not official but still usable .

Aha! New here too and I was wondering about that, thought it was AOSP vs sense then saw a sense version in there .. then I thought its just because theres so much development one forum isnt enough! -which is true too i guess. Anyway its amazing to see so much happening here after the sad story of official support which hurt development for my Atrix so much.
thank you very much guys you've been very helpful and nice i'm glad to join this community, and if ill have further question ill ask

Well technically if we can build the 4.4 kernel from source then we could port it. Although I am sure it will require devs to fix the posted source before it can compile properly.
So waiting for an official release will be easier and less problematic. It will mot be very much longer before the official version is out. Two months tops.

Does an LG 5.0 OTA update mean faster updates to existing AOSP Roms?

Hi All,
Getting the G3 this week, brand new (Snapdragon version). Can't wait to put a custom AOSP ROM on it. Question though, before this comes out:
I heard the 5.0 OTA Update will be coming out this week and wanted to know if this means we will get much faster development to an AOSP 5.0 Lollipop rom with far less bugs because LG is putting it out theirs first.? I would imagine all the code can be extracted and used and helps elimiate bugs for XDA's amazing developers, and makes the transition a lot smoother, than if the developers were to go from 4.3 or 4.4 straight to 5.0 with no release from LG? Can anyone confirm? I'm very excited
Lastly, which is the best G3 AOSP ROM? Which are you most excited about for Lollipop?
Cheers

LG releasing source code will be a huge boost to developers working on Lollipop AOSP builds. We have some very talented developers working on this and even have some booting ROMs.
As far as "best" ROMs, that question is not allowed on XDA. Best is extremely subjective and such questions tend to cause fights.
The best rom is the one that suits your needs.
The best rom is the one I'm running that week.

Dude no custom roms are out. I don't find it disrespectful to request but come on. Let the devs actually get a beta Los rom, or something along that line, up and running before we start requesting this rom or that rom.

Who even want miui? That just a pile of bug with a ads developed by a facerolling on the keyboard.

It would be far easier just to get a Xiaomi phone.
Actually exist one , an experimental gsi =[
Really buggie , and there are several months since they no longer update the rom
:crying:
Will we ever get custom roms for our a50, all available roms are either crappy non working worst gsi's, and other's are samsung one ui with some tweak. Atleast i was expecting a stock android rom.
Don't make excuses if developers wanted they would've done it even I'm shocked newly launched some mediatek powered realme phones having bunch of stable roms but not this device.
Phew
I think it has something to do with the Exynos 9610 processor... if it was snapdragon it would be easier.

Just stay with default One UI! These days performance and battery on stock roms are good, if not better than custom roms! Especially camera quality is the main reason to say stock.
