There are threads with cifs.ko modules for the stock kernel and stock G2 OTA kernel (just search the G2 forum for cifs.ko).
Pershoot also provides a cifs.ko module for his kernel (found on his dev page---download the zip of kernel modules). I run this kernel have been using the module with CifsManager for a while now.
Not sure if it'll work with your kernel or not, though I believe the CM and Pershoot kernels are fairly similar. Worth trying.
Thank you, I found it in pershoot's modules. Unfortunately I guess it's not compatible with the modified baconbits for trackpad wake, I'm still getting "device not recognized" in cifs manager.
Found this:

I guess I'll need to use a different kernel?
Yeah, I think so. Or you'll have to compile the module yourself for your specific kernel...

Cifs.ko on stock kernel

I love how custom kernels include the cifs module that I use to mount lan shares. How would you load the module on stock kernels? Simply copying it to sdcard and loading it with insmod doesn't work... :-(

You mean stock, right? First of all, have you tried the TUN.ko Installer from the same company? I don't know if it works on systems without custom kernel, but I think it will work anyway. :victory:

TUN.KO, neeed VPN access, which kernel supports this option, and where is the driver?

I currently run tweaked, with saber kernel (thanks to both of the dev groups)
but I can seem to figure out how to activate the TUN.KO in the kernel.
can someone help me out, I am trying to setup a openVPN on my note,
I have tried the tun.ko installer, but it gives an error code that tun.ko does not exist in the kernel
thanks
Any help folks, anyway I can do this myself?

Do you have a tmobile note II or AT&T?
Tun.ko says it's already loaded . It says "you can now use Droidvpn and Openvpn to your phone" But if I hit the install it says it cant find for my device . I believe the module is built into the kernel . I use hotspot shield and I know for a fact it requires tun.ko .
P.s I have the t889 tmobile variant

Which saber version do you have? I'm on 35.6
And mine definitely does not have it, this is what I get when opening openVPN
When opening openVPN and using my downloaded profile, I get the response
"Due to a known bug with this version of android, it is not possible to gain permission to open a VPN tunnel."
I'm on 32.2 .

Okay let me try and figure a 32.2 link, thanks for your help
