Put The Pressure On Sprint Don't Settle - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Ok spoke to sprint for 2 hrs today about LOS.... "Recorded all calls"
Hung up on 4 times while i was on hold while they research issue
Told to sell phone back to sprint "oh yea...Uh no!"
I am not giving you 2 months of credit "yes you are"
Account Services: Nothing i can do we don't issue credits "don't lie to me"
17 mintues in call "account services" says: I can give you $36 "i don't think so"
Call Samsung since they made the phone "nope try again"
We have nothing to do with the device "The name of the store was Sprint"
Im not going to loose my job over you "understandable but i really don't care"
Take it to the store "why if they all are defective"
Im not going to do this that or the other and etc....... "manager please and not someone who just takes escalations.
RESULTS "Time to get tough"
I want out of my contract do to local lemon laws and horrible
treatment from customer service.
Manager understood after i broke it down technically to him about the phone issues and asked what do you want "I've already told you!!"
Contract terminated "released from contract" Still have phone and service of course.
"not fixed in a month will call for credits" <----You have to play hard ball with Sprint...Calling 100 times is easier than checking your phone for LOS every few minutes
Mission Statement:
PUT THE PRESSURE ON SPRINT GUYS..DO NOT LET THEM RIP YOU OFF! IF YOU HAVE LOS ITS NOT ACCEPTABLE..I WAS PREPARED TO CALL 100 TIMES. HOW FAR ARE YOU READY TO GO????? do not speak to anyone but account services

Sprint is already aware and working on a fix. There are people here working on it as well. Shut up about it already.

Samsprint's been "working" on gingerbread for Epic 4G for months now. I believe if it's cost efficient in Sprint's favor to simply fix the problem, it's better of we annoy them to an extent.

Funny, I thought Sprint was the carrier and Samsung was the Manufacturer.
My mistake.
Carriers don't make updates/fixes they just test/approve them and release them.
Put the pressure on Samsung. That will get results, hopefully.

So has XDA. Its obviously an issue with that phone and an entirely different matter all together.
OP if you want to waste that much of your time and energy on something that will soon be fixed, either by the devs here or Sprint/Samsung, feel free. Just don't expect us sane rational people not to troll you.

OP got out of his contract, so that's a win... but yeah it'll be fixed soon.

Your phone is under warranty through sprint for the first yr. You go through sprint before you contact the manufacturer. Sprint cannot afford to take escalations for every LOS. As well as the credits issued and contracts cancelled for something they sold and provide service for. Therefore they will demand Samsung to fix the issue. Or if Samsung has fixed the issue, they will demand quality to release a patch "yesterday". Worst case scenario if Sprint cannot resolve customers mass number of complaints they will recall the phone, issue refunds, or do exchanges.

Well with my free service and no contract, I don't mind waiting. I was just helping others to see the same satisfaction and quicker response from Sprint/Samsung..When i get a LOS now, i can laugh about it because i am not paying for it!

If you don't find my post helpful than why respond. I got satisfaction. My job is to help others to get the same.
Now i can leave this post for anyone who finds it useful....
Your Welcome,
Me

Only happens once in a while for me...My idea was to have everyone join together and get a quicker fix..I am out of a contract and free service...Im great!!! I just like to share to try to help others. But this is America...Half agree, other half don't.

newalker91 said:
Uh no, no it is not. Your phone is under (pause for keyword here...) "MANUFACTURER'S" warranty for one year. Manufacturer in this case is Samsung, aka the party responsible for FIXING this issue. The reason people go through Sprint before they go to Samsung for their warranty is because they have too high of a sense of self-entitlement and/or are too arrogant to read their user manual which clearly states a contact number for Samsung, not Sprint, under the warranty section. Sprint would never recall this phone for an issue that some people are having. Quite frankly if I were the overseeing supervisor in your case, I would've told you to direct your frustrations at Samsung and never have let you out of contract. As a consumer, do some research before picking up a product if you aren't willing to take the risk of having defects which WILL be fixed. This phone hasn't even received its first patch yet, and you've already cost Sprint valuable network expansion dollars to give you something you didn't deserve by throwing a temper tantrum. Grow up and stop ruining things for everyone else by shoving around the wrong people.

Let me guess your work on Wall Street as well...
Send your phone off to Samsung and please let us know when you get the same phone back in the same packaging you sent it in. Should take 2-3 days for you to get your package back, so be patient.
Thanks

Just so people aren't confused. This post has nothing to do with the Wall Street guy above. I provided information on what Sprint did for me as a customer, do to LOS issues. Hope some will find satisfaction in reaching out to them for the lack of service you have had. If you had great service no issues...Cool!
Thanks,
ME

I'm in love with the concept that if you have anything to say about anything [that isn't negative toward a carrier] you must either be an employee or a "fan boy"
Seriously? Go **** yourself with that nonsense.
Samsung makes the phone. It's a great phone.
Samsung is KNOWN for slow updates NO MATTER WHAT CARRIER THE PHONE IS ON
You can pressure Sprint all you want, it's not going to change who is actually responsible for updates and fixes.

"Carriers don't make updates/fixes they just test/approve them and release them."
So is sprint fault too bc they have to test the phones first and looks like they are not.

Who said Sprint doesn't have some blame?
They do test the phones.
But *****ing at Sprint for the LOS issue in some vain attempt to get the issue fixed faster is like *****ing to Best Buy because the iPhone 4 has that antenna issue

14 Day Return Policy

Just thought I would give everybody a heads up that as of Friday, 09/16/2011, Sprint is switching to a 14-day return policy. I have a feeling a lot of Sales Reps will be uneducated about this.

that likely has a little to do with it....but....
(lifted from the thread linked above)
I've said it before and I'll say it again: It's about damn time.
Am I happy about this? Not at all. But this was going to happen eventually. Sprint is bleeding money without compare. As long as they continue to offer decent coverage, great prices and fantastic customer service I'm all for it. They need to stay competitive. Not to us, they are already very competitive to us...they need to stay competitive to investors or risk a takeover most likely coming from Verizon.
***** and complain all you want, where you gunna go? T-Mobile? Unlikely. That whole law-suit from the DOJ is nothing but a dog-n-pony show.
Sprint has to offer unlimited service, the same fantastic rates, unparalleled customer service while at the same time improving it's network infrastructure all around in order to stand a chance...they know it and it's about time they started acting like it.
....with a strategic partnership with Google they could change the entire game by ditching the voice-n-text strategy and being the first to embrace the "everything is data" paradigm. It's coming. "voice service" all by itself is so, well, last century. We all know it's already digital, why convert back twice and charge us for something we can now do on our own?
...that's just my take...
Honestly, as long as they keep unlimited data without throttling, I am okay.

Inspired... and I hope you're right! There seems to be no point in sticking with the current voice service with it's inferior quality when we can easily switch to all VoIP.

So I got my Epic 4G Touch Tuesday. Does that mean I have a 30 day return or is it device specific.
Agreed. This is Sprint stepping up to protect is business. They are better in so many levels that this shouldn't be an issue unless you don't know what you want and go through two or three phones your first month.

I haven't noticed that. I still manage to have to interact with them far more than the average user (as the XDA types seem to). A few times in the past month and I can't even say that I noticed anything.
Sure, when I called to cancel a line ETF free I got one lady who gave me a minor hassle, but, I called back and got a guy who was friendly and helpful.
That's the worst 30 seconds (and only 'bad' I have dealt with, by far) of dealing with Sprint's customer service I have had in the past 6 years of service...and it wasn't even that bad bordering on understandable.
As usual YMMV.

Laws vary by state, and most are nullified if the seller has their own policy posted in the store in a conspicuous location.
Just talked to a Sprint store manager (Southern California) and she has not heard any mention of the changes so hopefully tomorrow when I open a new account I'll hold her accountable for it.

Then my peer there is dumb, it is all over the Playbook and all the AMs are telling their managers and staff about it. It is huge news. Perhaps they just had Wednesday off (like I did) and didn't get a chance to read the Playbook quite yet. I know the only reason I found out about it ahead of time was from tweets last night about the subject.

Wifi problem SOLVED (acc'd to sprint rep)

I just had the best conversation ever with a sprint rep. This was an in-store tech person, mind you, so all of my facial expressions were more than obvious.
The conversation went like this:
Hi, my E4GT is having some wifi connectivity issues. When I try to connect, it says connected but then keeps scanning, and in fact, it's not connected at all because I can't get a webpage to...
(Interrupting me) WAIT RIGHT THERE...let me see the front of your phone, turn it around! (I do so.) Yup, that's the problem...you downloaded something to make your ANDROID phone look like a WINDOWS phone.
You mean a launcher?
Yes, it's an unapproved app, and you corrupted your whole system. You need to delete that and hard reset. Don't make it look like it's not an Android phone...otherwise you corrupt the system.
(My face has a wtf are you serious look on it at this point.) Oooooh-kay. Um, are you sure?
YES! ABSOLUTELY! Also, I bet you have checked off install apps from unknown sources, don't you?
Yes...so?
THERE YOU GO AGAIN --- COMPLETELY CORRUPTED YOUR ENTIRE SYSTEM. Now, anyone anywhere can just go into your phone and access everything. That's why you can't get online.
(Now my face has the wtf look on it as well as a little bit of anger from this rep having somehow survived this long in her life, and in doing so, disproved darwinism.) So, you're telling me installing the amazon appstore breaks our phones?
YES, it's an unapproved app, just like that one that made your phone look like a windows phone!
But, that app's from the google market...??
I BET YOU'RE TETHERING TOO, AREN'T YOU?
(Damn, she got me there.) No! What is tethering?
Someone will come up and tell you to tether...go right ahead and do it if you want, but you'll be corrupting your entire phone again and it won't work.
Ok, thanks, this has been a big help.
You bet! Thanks for coming in!

I once had a verizon droid incredible with a screen that literally moved when you touched it (this screen hardware itself physically moved, not anything on the screen). Took it into a Verizon store and the rep seriously asked me "did you try doing a battery pull?" I was just like wtf does a loose screen have to do with a battery pull.
I don't know where they find these people. When I apply for jobs there I never even get an interview, I think I fail their personality testing during the application.
I don't even understand how people like that can get hired. You would think they would require at least some basic knowledge of the industry and products. I am actually looking to change careers and would like to get a position managing a sprint store but I can't seem to find an opening in my area because they keep hiring people like this. I have been to four stores in my area and every single one has not one person who seems to know much of anything. Maybe its just the central florida area.

Normally, I would say this story seems too far out there, and that there is no way someone is that clueless as an employee at the Sprint store.
However, I have dealt with some of the Sprint store employees and I guess it is feasible.
Either way, thanks for posting as it was an entertaining post.
Thanks op that was classic, I seem to run into these people all the time. Awesome
I had a similar thing happen at Radio Shack. I had bought the Photon there and before my 30 days were up I wanted to trade it for our SII...on launch day they didn't have any so I told them I wanted to return it and go to Sprint to get the phone. The salesman said why...the Photon is dual core and a much better phone...I immediately told him it was none of his business and then proceeded to rattle off the specs of the SII..he went into the back room. These people are clueless!
Haha I purchased an app called HVAC Buddy for work and a sprint tech told me it broke the gps in my Moment. Wtf

anyway, just fyi, it's an absolutely true story. the worst part, which I forgot to mention in the OP, is that a couple minutes before this dolt began "helping" me, I was talking with another customer who had an E4GT with some crazy problems (phone with a mind of it's own...would just randomly open up apps and close them and restart...) and I was telling her about this forum and how her problems were atypical and how she should just get a new E4GT...and then every time this stupid, stupid customer service rep talked, I had to just look over at this lady and hope she knew how completely retarded the rep was.

No need to apologize on their behalf...it's the same at every job and every profession. It's just a shame that people don't say, "sorry, I don't know," when they don't know. But, on the bright side, it does sometimes make for some funny ish when they talk out their ass
Walked into my local repair center and showed the Guy my OG Evo, told him that I was having some issues with the fact that my $400+ phone had a crack in the casing near the volume and power buttons. He immediately told me "you dropped your phone and it cracked. that's not covered sorry." and proceeded to the next customer. I walked up, showed him again my phone was in an otterbox defender case, had NO signs of damage... mind you I kept the case on since day 1 and I had never dropped the phone....
He looks at me with the straightest face and says "it is because you are using a Facebook IM application which causes the problem." at this point I laughed in his face, left the store and proceeded down the block to the next repair center.
This Guy still works there....

Rant Here about Verizon not giving a date and pushing this back every week

now im not on verizon and the only reason im coming over is for this phone. (BE WARNED - RANT COMING)
I've been on sprint for about 10 years now, the past 3 years i have been on an employee plan paying 30$/month for unlimited everything. The sad thing is, i feel bad for the people paying full price on sprint because im located in Rochester NY and sprint service should be great here but i rarely get service indoor's recently. 4G is a joke and Rochester was one of the first places to get it turned on. So im happy to move to a better network and brought myself to pay the extra $ for the service.... so enough about how sprints network is going down hill and on to how Verizon F***ED this launch up royally.
Maybe i hate Verizon for not mentioning a word about this phone. Maybe its because the Galaxy Nexus has been out for almost a month overseas. Maybe its because i feel like not only have i been waiting for this phone but i've also been waiting for Google to release an exciting new OS. Maybe it's the fact that i KNOW this phone can compete in the market as one of the best phones and not to mention its the flagship phone from Google that can kick start features like NFC and such. but then i think to myself... What did i just see when i turned on the TV or when i went to that website. ADs for the RAZR... THE RAZR.... ARE U KIDDING ME?
okay okay, i understand, back in 2003 it was the coolest phone on the block. TIMES HAVE CHANGED, Verizon knewwwwww they were getting the Nexus, and they hate they can't call it Droid. the name droid (personal opinion) is UGLY. Im not saying Galaxy Nexus is any better but i dont want to feel like i have a robot in my pocket. The Razr just came at the wrong time and VZ spent to much money with s$itty advertising like they always do.
I was really really hoping to see some type of great marketing strategy by verizon starting this week. Something along the lines of this:
Mon Night Football. 5 to 10 second commercial, completely white background and just out the nexus right in the middle of the high def screen. no music. mahyeb a piano key or smething, with just a shot of this beauty... then at the very end, flash Verizon so people know, that phone is coming to VZ, wow!!?? (and yes i would love to see a "with Google" slapped in there somewhere but we all know Verizon would have a heart attack promoting anyone but themselves)
and keep showing the commercial every day with a count down until the release date (which i was hoping the 9th) so it would have been even sweeter to see that commercial knowing i can freakin get that this week!?!
people know the verizon brand, they like the verizon brand becuase its associated with a good network. FOCUS ON YOUR PRODUCT, THE BEST ONE U HAVE. make people say, woahhhhhh what was that???? and im not talking about the people like us who wait and wait and wait knowing we will hold out for this, im talking about your average consumer, the one who see's a product and says, damn thats good looking, i WANT that. i WANT THAT NEOWWWZ!
(hell i even made a s$hitty youtube video to get my point across)
but no. No commercials, no internet Ad's, only one spot on thier website to put your email in a box (which NO ONE likes giving out) for more information....
Verizon, you messed up. You had a chance to make a boat load even more of cash and you missed out. im not even your customer yet and i dread the fact ill be stuck with you for two years.
and now we have this, no Google wallet. im highly confident once developers get their hands on this phone they will find a way to make it work, but instead Verizon points the finger and says its not them. WHY IN THE HELL WOULD GOOGLE NOT WANT TO HELP ITS OWN NEW SERVICE?!? It just doesnt make sense.........
alright, i just blacked out with anger/frustration while typing this so i hope it makes sense and i hope other people see what im seeing...
oh, and one last note.. This ones for you Google. i hope you paid attention to this whole launch. i hope you learned your leson about dancing with the RED DEVIL. They will take your masterpiece and piss all over it.
In my opinion the main problem with this launch is that Google and Samsung allowed Verizon to take control of it. I hate to compare to Apple, but they take full control of their product launches and do not allow the carriers to tamper in any way. Samsung and Google should have grown some balls and had the phone launched their way. If Verizon did not want to play ball then they just release the unlocked version here as they did in the past.
Cool story bro. Lol @ video. Lame but funny.

Hmm, that's weird. My company spends just shy of $100k a year on Verizon devices (somewhere around ~800 lines currently)...and my rep is just as unable to get one to sell as anyone else.
And he is the rep for 5 other companies around our size.
I think there's a much better chance you're a Verizon employee or were able to play with one in the immediate vicinity.
Your bigger rant should be how a company the size of VZW can hose their entire LTE network with each introduction of a new device.

Yeah, and you can bet that the resolution will be quiet and nothing else ever said of this outage.
"Isolated" will be the spin. I was going to head over to Verizon and eBay the GSM GNEX I have, but I just can't fork over $85 for a tiered plan when I have unlimited on ATT for $40 after taxes (2nd line on plan).
Oh well.

Not saying I necessarily don't believe you, just saying the "don't sell yet" thing is pretty hard...they probably aren't even allowing the devices to activate on the network yet.
Beyond that, not a single person knows the date it's releasing now. The update said "indefinite", meaning nobody knows for sure. It's just suspected for next week, at the moment.
I won't promise anything but I will call rep tomorrow for some info

I disagree.
Seriously. Think about it from Verizon's perspective. Why would they put money and advertising behind the Nexus phone when they have the Rezound and Razr that just came out and are of similar specs? They control the user experience on those devices and can put their subscription apps preloaded on them. Not true with the Galaxy Nexus. Of course they're going to market the hell out of the devices that make them more money.
That said, I agree that Samsung/Google should have taken more charge with this launch. Nexus devices are about no compromise, pure Android experiences, and no carrier/OEM tampering. What I've seen of the Verizon version has contradicted this in a few ways before the phone is even out. Makes me very happy I got the GSM version. But at least the LTE one is unlocked and there will be plenty of ROMs and support for it.

Hey Sprint Techs - Question for you guys!

The post I'm going to quote below got me wondering. I'm making a new thread here because the other thread was posted in development, and at worst it will be locked and at best merged with the other thread the OP made in Q&A. (EDIT - Looks like it was even worse ... the thread was deleted). So ...

Just so you guys are aware, many service centers are going to be adopting a stricter interpretation of the Sprint policies in the near future. I've warned about this, but no one likes to listen.
Class 3 device issue includes total device failure in which the device is unable to function without the replacement of the motherboard. This will now include all devices unable to power on after refurbishing, bricked or not bricked. You will be paying a deductible.

I'm curious. What percentage of E4GTs that have been brought into you over the past couple of months, that appear to be full hardware failures (won't boot into DL mode or recovery, or anything else), that only "mysteriously" show a blue light when powered on, do you guys suspect are bricks related to flashing in custom recovery on an ICS kernel?
The above makes me wonder if Sprint has seen a large increase in warranty exchanges over the past couple of months on E4GTs (gee I wonder why) thus driving the need to adjust their service policy? Maybe it's something that's been in the works for awhile in an attempt to keep profit margins up, but I'm curious if this phone may have been a catalyst to crack down on full exchanges.
newalker91 said:
At my store, we've only seen a few. Each of which they claim to have received a software update (when the most recent to have been pushed was months ago) and only the blue light would power up. The pattern continues on with Motorola Photons as well with the white light when plugged into power and Failed to boot 01, and Nexus S 4G with the unlock symbol and frozen at splash. They claimed to have been using it on a car charger and it just stopped working. All of our customers to bring these issues in so far have been young males (age 16-30). Would be one thing if it were like this only at my current location, but it carries back to the last year I spent at my previous job as well with the same types of excuses and category of customers.

People just are being lazy and not reading everything before they flash. The outcome is going to be bad for all of us, including the non-lazy. It's sad that it comes down to this. This is exactly why Sprint doesn't allow early upgrades anymore, because people abuse it by selling the new phone and the complain a few months later wanting more.

Do you seriously think Apple sells the iPhone to carriers for $199? Not a chance, and the same applies to Android manufacturers. From what I've read, carriers pay around $500 per smartphone, so have about $300 to make up over the 2 year contract term. A little less for Verizon, because they can get away with charging $299 for some devices.
There's a reason they call it a "subsidy".
Edit - Here's a decent article on the subject with a few numbers ... http://www.brighthand.com/default.asp?newsID=18672&news=Apple+iPhone+ATT+Verizon+Sprint

Can you put any kind of percentage on it? Like 1 in 10, or 1 in 50? I'm curious how often these devices completely fail on their own, and how often it's caused by firmware flashing.

Companies like sprint do get phones for a good price from the manufacturer. But you have to look at it from the provider's point of view... Sprint is not making a profit from the time that you first sign a contract. That's why we signed a contract, we agreed to be a customer for the length of the contract in order to get a good price. That's why you get charged for an Early Termination Fee for breaking that contract early.

I have paid for TEP since my HTC Evo, have not once bricked or even brought any phone back to sprint. It's sad that so many are bricking and not taking responsibility and even worse is when I hear stories of successful returns even without insurance.
Couldn't agree more. If you brick it, its your own fault. You should just pay the 100$ deductible and call it even. If you want to avoid it then either read read and read some more or don't mess with it in the first place. The only people I am not talking about are the devs who found the problems out the hard way. But when they say don't do somehing and you do it because you couldn't be bothered to read a paragraph you should pay up.

I can't speak for all techs but I just took a $1.04 an hour pay cut and I am now offered commission based on customer satisfaction. Bring me your bricked, rooted phones, and don't be a total bonehead in my store and I will take care of you.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Sorry to say it, but why not just make TEP mandatory for any subsidized smartphone. Maybe a once per device life-cycle brick swap, after that its deductable. If its a bad OTA, Sprint will know and can make exceptions, but other than that, it would be a good idea to just assume everyone roots, and work with it. We can help by not flaming people asking questions regarding flashing when its known that some methods are very risky.
I've mostly held my tongue when seeing people talking about bricking their phones and then lying to Sprint so they can get a replacement at reduced/no cost. The few times I did speak up (as well as a few others) there were responses dogging people for their moral superiority, one person even suggested if I bricked my phone I'd do the same thing, to which I replied I most certainly would not.
I don't judge people. You do what your conscience allows you to live with, as do I. But I will say that I would be pissed if I ever took a truly borked (not by my hand) phone into Sprint and got major hassle because they might assume I'm just one more person futzing up my phone and trying to get a new one.
No one wants to accept their actions may have long term consequences but the truth is, they do. For every bricked phone they've been duped into replacing there's a price to pay and that price is likely going to be spread out to all of us in the form of higher phone prices (if they don't get rid of subsidy pricing altogether), higher insurance rates and possibly even fewer service centers due to cutbacks within the company.
So maybe just be a little extra careful before flashing that next leak or ROM. Read the instructions, read them again, ask questions before flashing and then take responsibility for what ultimately happens.
Okay, I suppose I'll get off my high horse now.

If you're going to start hurting your own exchange rate and cost Sprint extra money on DBR equipment just so you can make your commission, then there's a lot of failure going on in your location. Your front office is failing to properly analyze the situation and the back office isn't following policy. Do not create the ticket until you know exactly what the situation is, and then you won't be in a bind when you realize you can't fix it and need to violate policy to get a good survey.
As for the percentage of bricked devices we see, I'd say 1 in 100 at the very most. We see between 175-250 phones per day on average. Like I said before, the bricked devices are usually brought in by young males who seem to think they know a lot about their phone. Extensive retail fraud training comes in handy when we can pick out when we're being fed a line because they immediately start over-explaining what was going on when the device just failed and then they start offering explanations as to why their story is valid.

After the 1st month of the change the increased our csat goals. As for my exchange rate, as a store we are below 20% our goal is 32%. If I miss my goal, guess what, nothing happens. If I miss csat goals, I take a huge paycut. I agree we don't see many unrecoverably bricked phones. According to m&P's we cover rooted devices so whatever... as for dbr'ed phones, I am still the king at spotting liquid damage.

I must say I have been paying TEP for 2 phones for over 7 years and way back in the $6 dollar days I think it was. I have been rooting and messing with my phone since my PC6700 and I have not had to use my Ins at all. Hey it sucks to pay for it all those years but I rather have it than not. But you can't knock people for trying to get away with what they can... unfortunately its kinda human nature to get as much as they can out of certain situations...

Other than developers there were some in the beginning that got caught up long before some developers took the plunge and borked their phones. I agree if more people read the OP then we would have less issues. They should have an agreement popup when you click to download a rom stating that you read the OP or something. I know it won't work but I am just saying there were like 5 "I think I bricked my phone" threads popping up every 12 hours for a few weeks....
The only phone I have had that would not boot and give a blue led flash was one of our in store demos. It was plugged in all day on a demo loop.

I hope to god I don't brick my phone, although with developing its almost unavoidable at some point..
Both I and my dad have made friends with a tech at sprint, he has been helping us out since the old htc hero days, so I would like you other sprint techs to clarify for me..
Last time I had gone in (got my ns4g, mid-july) he had told me that they cover bricked devices, so if anything went wrong in that area, they would replace the device for me.. Never had to use my TEP, and have had it for the past 4 years.
Would they replace my ns4g if I brought it bricked? or would there be a deductable? Not trying to lie to them, just curious. I had developed for it for the past couple months and come close to bricking a few times. If I could use my TEP powers just this once, I would be a happy camper with my ns4g.

Lol, I'm still a little shocked at how corporate techs handle LD. A tiny little blemish in the copper and a couple of my techs scream LD! LD! and DBR the phone just to avoid putting in any effort. I see this as a lack of experience in determining the true cause of the customer's problem. In situations where there is a little LD, I just make the customer aware and scrub it off with a little denatured alcohol, run a gold pen over it to re-seal the copper and toss in an anti-tarnish tab to absorb any humidity that would aggregate it. That's how you earn true CSAT.

So when they come back a week later and have a dead phone, that is shoddy work. Flag it, then offer the cleaning, give no promises. I have seen phones that has been at the bottom of a pool for 15 minutes and my brother is still using it, and I have seen a tiny spot of corrosion on a power ic and the phone will never power on. Just fyi I have been doing this for 9 years now, I have 84 surveys under my belt, which is a lot for a tech, I am 84 for 84. Our repair csat avg for the last year is 82%. Don't tell me how to earn csat, SON. Yes I realized I just started a pissing match on a forum, but I don't like being told I don't know how to do my job. Sprint customer service help

Hi all. I'm looking for some help with sprint as the title says. I love the E4GT but I have had like 6 replacements since November (when I bought the phone) and apparently sprint doesn't want to do anything but give me the same phone or the conquer, but obviously this isn't acceptable. So I have been on the phone with a store employee or a csr everyday for the past two weeks but no one seems to understand the trouble I have had to go through to get absolutely nowhere.
A little back ground: last year I had the Evo shift and I had various problems with the replacements but most notably one that I took to the store on the same day I got it and found out that the MB had corrosion. So Sprint, after much haggling, gave me an upgrade and I bought the E4GT. the issues with the E4GT have been updates bricking the phone, capacitive buttons activating without being pressed, overheating, and camera malfunctioning. Any advice on where to go next or what to do would be appreciated.
side note - not new here just a lurker

Having worked in customer service. You are a complainer. Doesn't make you a bad guy its just who you are. You had the shift complained enough to get E4GT, now you want to keep complaining until you get another one. And when you go to a store and they will see your record. That's all they will see is that you are a complainer. It doesn't matter what carrier you go to. They still buy the same manufacturers phones for the most part. They aren't going to give you another free upgrade. Which is what you want. Let's just cut to the chase. It sounds like you want an Iphone. Instead of complaining to trying and get one. You sell your E4GT and buy the Iphone that you want.

not trying to fight here but im a complainer because i have not had a phone for a month though im paying for service. and yes i have thought about an iphone because im not loyal to a manufacturer. also it becomes a problem when i can't even get an E4GT anymore because of having too many replacements within a year, while also not being given any good replacement option or anything. i would pay the etf but i dont think i should have to given my luck with their services.
someone else got any advice or input?

I'm not arguing...just stating the obvious....the squeaky wheel get's oiled. Your not squeaking enough.
Be persistent, stand your ground, and if all else fails, email corporate.
Your posts are intelligent, which means you can craft a very concise email explaining your troubles. Explain exactly what you want and how you want it. Then if that doesn't work, write another....and then another. Complain louder and eventually your cry's will fall on sympathetic ears. Just know that there is no magic combination. I've been told that 3 replacements and you can choose a different device. Honestly, there's only one device better than our and that's the S3.
Good luck.

Ok well thanks for making my case.
If you haven't gotten service fora month call customer service for your credit. Seems easy enough? For having worked in customer service. I have little sympanty when you refuse to take replacement device. Ohh why because it won't work like the last one. That a very defeatest attitude. And its no wonder you aren't happy. NO phone is perfect. But I'm sure you know this. What you want is a free phone for nothing. YOU ARE LIMITING YOUR OPTIONS!!!!
1. Pay the ETF and leave. People with good credit have that option.
2. Sell the phone and buy another one. You can get a good 150-200 for it
3. Quit complaining
4. Try the conquer, maybe it will stop you from complaining. But I doubt it.
For the complaining that you have done at the sprint store, over the phone, and now coming here. You could have worked a part time temp job for a couple weeks to paid for another phone by now. What you want is a free phone go to another board if you want a way to scam them.
Call up Samsung for a sammich.

My bad didn't know I had to play down to my competition here. Its unfortunate that out of all the other options I present. Complaining is the only one you see as a viable option. That's sad
i had an issue when i bricked my phone lol jk.. but naw man, you need to figure out what it is your doing to mess up your phones..we honestly have one of the best phones from sprint besides (like said already) the sgs3. how could u go through six devices lol. either way sounds like sprint already helped you once in letting you upgrade early and they wont do it again. so you had issues with your evo shift too? sounds fishy.. gotta love it when people dont tell the story right. how about buying a phone outright? then upgrade when its time like the rest of us

Any advice on where to go next or what to do would be appreciated.

you need to be transfer to the retention department explain your story. Try and get a record for all thr e tocket info and replacement records. Then ask to be xfered to the multipule devices departmentthey will help u out. Ask for an other device or a non referb replacement. Sprint CSRs are mostly under educated or badly trained . Its just fact they are horri fic. I am dealing with multipule people on the higer levels right now they email me and i have dorect numbers. If u need assitance PM me . I am in the middle of a huge deal right now where they are actually throttling data and they admit to the problem but claim they dont have control thet have multi sent devices too.

lol cool story bro.. so your deep in a deal with sprint and have them admitting to throttling? whats your point exactly? retention dept is the dept that saves customers from cancelling service.. if its that hard for him to get a new phone im sure hed get the go ahead and cancel with etf or else they would have offered him a upgrade already.. and what is the multiple devices dept? a special team to deal with repeat offenders who every phone they have has issues somehow to obtain new phones?

Yeah its pretty hard to type on my phone lol..sorry. But yes those are the correct steps about going to get a new phone. The retention department usally takes situations more serious and are usally more willing to direct your call properly. I guess a lot of peoe are use to prints ****ty customer service..u need to control the situation as much as u can or saddly u wont get much.

Hi all. I'm looking for some help with sprint as the title says. OK so I'm sure you'll accuse me of trolling like the other guy who gave reasonable advice... but you talk about the evo shift and its "replacements" (plural!) and how this got you a free upgrade, now you've gone through e4gt's at a rate of almost one a month since you've bought the damn thing. Newsflash dude, they boot loyal, on time paying customers of years for using too much roaming data, in the past few years they've eliminated all of the awesome legacy discounts that they used to offer via retentions (eg I used to get a 40% monthly statement credit, seriously) I've been on sprint for 12 years now, have 4 lines with them, and always pay my bill on time and they still just let me out of my contract and said take your business elsewhere after I complained about the loss of said discount (I ended up staying as sprint was still cheaper than vzw or att). Long story short you are costing them money, they don't care if you're happy and if you keep pushing them they'll end your contract. This may excite you but keep in mind sprint is consistently rated the highest in customer service, so good luck pulling this kind of crap on another carrier, I'll doubt you have much luck...
Furthermore how have you had multiple phones bricked by updates? And even if this is really the case only the ICS update could brick it unrecoverably... does not seem possible that you've had more than one e4gt brick taking the OTA to ICS, if that... capacitive button wonkyness is a known ICS bug, and not necessarily a hardware problem, you should have downgraded to GB or tried other ICS ROMs if it bothered you that much.... overheating also most likely has its source in a software problems (an app is causing it), not hardware.... also what do you mean by overheating? These things are passively cooled, if you use it a lot doing intensive things its going to get HOT.... lastly camera malfunctioning? Seriously? What does that even mean, also the camera is modular, I would imagine the sprint tech would have just replaced it as opposed to sending out a refurb if that was the actual issue.
To sum up this long rambling post the problem is not with the phone, its you... it is statistically impossible that you've somehow managed to get god knows how many "bad" evo shifts followed by 6 "bad" e4gt's... sprint isn't going to do anything for you nor do I think they should.... take the advice already offered and just buy a damn iPhone, clearly you can't differentiate between hardware and software issues, and apple will be happy to help you, they'll make a fortune off you as you'll probably be the most frequent genius bar customer ever

What I want to know is how you were able to convince Sprint to upgrade you and give you a monthly supply of replacement phones. That is what I call negotiating!
