Otterbox... Who needs them... Check out trident!!! - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

http://www.tridentcase.com/product_77_131.html
I know this link is for the internation galaxy s2 but they will have one for our phones within 1 month.
They look bad ass!!!
Can't wait.
I even posted a comment on otterbox showing them the link to this site... HA

About time, Trident makes much better cases than Otterbox.

makes phone look like a brick.

I cant wait to see the case for this phone to come out. By the way anyone have a forum or site to find updates on when the release may come out?? i really dont wanna spend $30 on a case-mate tough and then a week later have that come out.

there is a chance it may not be that thick. the phone it self is very thin. from what i hear, it is supposed to be an aegis case and could easily be more of a slim/form factor design like this one

A slim one like this for the e4gt would be sick!

still waiting for Ballistic to release an HC case for this phone..
lots of people really want a large, protective case for this thing, and there is nothing out there yet..Case mate tough case is nothing compared to a Ballistic, when it comes to total protection...

What...do you think you own an Iphone4? A guy at work as an Iphone4 in some god awful case that makes it look like an 80's cell phone. I guess at the gym he can skip the bicep and tricep work out, his phone and case will take care of that.
I'm happy with a TPU case and screen protector. That has worked well for my Incredible and EVO. But hey. if you are out in the field and climbing on and in equipment, I can see that a tough case would be nice.

Well, I get the dropsies now and then, plus, the phone will fall out of my sweat pants/short pocket on occasion, so I like to get the ballistic case, and use it without the rubber outside protection; sort of like a slimmed down Otterbox when you use it that way..
if I am going traveling, or out for long periods of time, then I will use the rubber outer layer...

looks tight!!
i will get the red one ASAP when it comes out

I like to switch up my cases depending on the occasion. I'll usually rock a tpu but if I'm working in the field or out at the bar I'd rather switch over to something a bit beefier

Bingo. I'm going to support the company that listens to its customers, and buy a Trident case... since they're producing the thing that Otterbox should be.
yo
honestly that case looks pretty darn sexy.
i dont even care if it has the ffc hole its not a problem for me
im def gonna buy it looks great

I thought the same thing when I purchased my trident case, now 2 weeks later I am wishing I held out for an otterbox.
I feel like the case does not offer much protection for the amount of bulk it adds considering I had to remove the screen protector in order to be able to use the whole keyboard in portrait mode.
I will be buying an Otterbox when they come out.

Same here. The Trident case would be perfect if the screen protector was better. It scratches easily. I am going to remove the built in protectector and put one of my Realook protectors on.
As far as Otterbox...I'm disappointed that they waited so long to do this. Most of us have had the Vibrant since this summer. I have a Case-Mate & Trident. Now I'm wondering if I even need the otterbox (even though it DOES look sweet!).

Yea, I mean ... it's not a big deal that it has a small little hole for the FFC.
Also, if you look at the case for the Galaxy S and Vibrant, they look identical. Maybe because since it's not available yet they just used the same picture of the case to give us an idea of what it'll look like .

It looks as tho it may just be a separate screen protector they are talking about. Because in the pics they show of it , it doesn't appear to have on attached to the case itself

Just purchased..will submit a review when it gets here some time next year...im currently using the body glove case...nice case..but i have dropped it twice and the whole thing fell apart, damaging the phone..whats the point of a case if it cant take damage? i wouldve much rather spend the 30 bux on something like this otterbox if it was available at the time..Cheers all!

Seidio ACTIVE - Sapphire Blue

Just ordered this case today - http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/csk3mtatr-bl.htm
I will post back when i receive it and mess with it some, and possible post up some pics too. I know some of you have been wondering about these cases for the Atrix, and i've been wanting one anyway. So i just went ahead and ordered it, I'll give a review of it once i receive it for you guys/gals.
Wow that does look nice. Post some picture when you get it. I ordered the Motorola one but if I end up not liking it this may be another option. Its a bit expensive but I may consider it if I do not like the Motorola one.
OP do you have any docks??? Im very curious to see if this case will function in the cardock... looks sweet though. i like it better than just about everything ive seen this far.

No, i dont use any docks - at least not yet... maybe sometime in the future.. Just dont have a need for any at this point.
Wow, I just ordered the very same one yesterday! I had one of these for my Nexus S and I really liked it. It looks and feels really good on the phone and I think it is just as protective as the Otterbox Commuter case.
let me know if the silicone is very floppy i had the otterbox commuter but i hate the lose silicone i like my cases to fit and stay. i loved the switcheasy cases for iphone but the dbags only do apple products. if its not all loose and floppy ill get it otherwise im sticking with the defender
Hey.... product manufacturers tend to go where the money is.... and when everyone and their poodle has an Apple product... you can bet what their focus is going to be. Hell, i'd LOVE to see something like the Apex Armor or Vapor4 bumpers that they have for the iPhone 4 made for the Atrix.... but it won't happen. Same way seeing a battery door replacement to use with a PowerMat probably won't happen, although i'm still kinda hoping.
I got the Surface in Sapphire Blue, and if that's any indication to how good their cases are, the ACTIVE is much better. Although it adds twice the thickness to the phone as the Surface.

Can't someone make a thin case for a thin phone?

First off - let me disclaimer this:
Some people want the Fort Knox of cases. They are clumsy with their phone. They've experienced dropping their phone several feet to the ground. They want impact protection. The G-Shock of phone cases. And they aren't afraid to carry something the size of a brick with the appearance of something from Toys 'R Us in trade for that protection. No problem. Obviously there's no shortage of THOSE cases.
My problem is that there ONLY seem to be cases made for those kinds of people.
I'm looking for a case that more or less barely wraps the phone - not for impact resistance, but abrasion resistance, light protection from scratches. I keep my phone in my pocket 100% of the time, and I'm more than respectfully careful when it's out - call me paranoid. But I know from experience with [all my other phones that I've never bought a case for] that light scratches can appear over time.
One of the BEST things about the SGS2 is the thin profile of the phone - and I'm already disappointed to have lost 1mm of that thinness, but willing to live with it. With a phone this size already, I'm not willing to lose millimeters more. It's supposed to be a thin phone.
Jokes about Apple lawsuits aside, I wish there were a case more akin to the iPhone 4's bumper case - something that offered just minimal protection - when setting the phone down, perhaps a little impact protection of the phone were to fall - but not taking away from the overall thin profile of the phone with an enveloping, thick back panel. Hell, if I eventually had to replace the battery door, I can do that for less than the cost of a new case anyway.
Are there any cases for guys who want thin? Who don't want it for impact protection, just simple, pocketable, wear protection against minor scratches and the like? And - can that case look classy?
I've only seen this one, but it's for the regular SGSII, not the sprint version:
http://www.case-mate.com/Samsung-Ga...-S-II-Barely-There-Brushed-Aluminum-Cases.asp
Even that wraps fully around the phone and adds thickness... it merely offers the promise of being thin.
What's the thinnest option out there, if impact resistance weren't a concern?
I got my tpu case on with out the back battery cover, and it feels fairly thin, and will still provide some protection. The case is without the back cover stay flush with the camera. I am going to order another one with matte finish.
The TPU's are good and cheap too. A good holdover until the barelythere comes out...which I predict will be within a couple weeks.

The TPU-cases are really nice, and I was surprised that it didn't add much thickness at all. I did post a review here, along with some pictures.
The carbon kickstand case you can get at the store is perfect imo. The phone feels no bigger with it on.
I wish Rearth (http://www.rearthusa.com/) would make a case for the ET4G, but last I emailed them they weren't intererested at this time since A) it wasn't out yet, and B) they didn't anticipate high demand for it.

How's that sprint kickstand case? Is it the fold into a triangle kick stand or an actual bar that pops up? It looks similar to my buddy's trianglish plastic kickstand case on his tmobile GSI vibrant and that thing is a piece of junk. Fits the phone like it was chisselled out of plastic, looks like $hit.
For $30 it better be sexy.

Not a triangle but a little wider than most bar kickstands I've seen. My gripe with that case is it doesn't cover the top and bottom of the phone, it fits more like a holster than a case. And for $30 thats IMO unacceptable.
I'm waiting for seidio to make a case for this phone, loved the innocase I have on my hero and it wasnt very thick at all.
How about a stick on skin if you want the thinnest "cover" possible?

I'm using a gloss-black TPU at the moment (and loving it) but I'm really considering one of those kickstands. I've put my phone in one a few times. It looks good but for the money it feels really inadequate.
Thanks for all the good suggestions...
I did actually read that review of the TPU case... one of my coworkers has one on his 3D. In his case, it covered the camera hump and made the phone thinner - the implementation on this phone seems much better.
For the money, it's tempting to at least as a stop gap to use for a few months to see what becomes available - or I'll just use none as a stop gap, like I've done with all my other phones. This one just seems like a phone worthy of babying more than I already do baby my lifeline.
A skin... I'm not aware of any, but I'm initially cringing thinking of what kind of vinyl wrap that may imply... cartoon characters, immature sayings, dragons and swords, flames, or what? Maybe something that's just a texture or color?

There are a number of companies that make removable, transparent "full body" skins. I've had good luck with both Skinomi and Zagg protectors in the past.

That's a reseller type site... according to a few other spots around the net, Case-Mate has the barely there, pop, and tough cases coming out starting 9/29 or so. Whether or not this is legit, I still cannot say... but hopefully.

Just emailed support to ask with a link to the item listed; I should hear back in next couple of days. From the listing, it looks like the kind of site that sells to 3rd party vendors, and since the packaging says Sprint branded, I suspect this is meant for non-corporate Sprint stores. Just a guess, but I will update if I hear anything back.
PS I bought the kickstand case and I kinda hated it, returned it within the hour... felt flimsy and overpriced, and it was more of a bad holster than a case; barely held the phone in and the kickstand was very tough to un-clip. I never say a product is not for anyone, but it certainly wasn't for me.

What is the diff. between SG and HC? is the HC phone/polycarbonate/silicon?
It's quiet comforting knowing my phone will no longer be at risk.
I've already done a 7 ft. drop test with it and am impressed.

I dont understand why so many people like the TPU cases; the're just a cheap piece of vinyl, and do nothing to protect your phone from a drop on a hard surface, like concrete..they are super cheap, I guess, considering there is only a few pennies in vinyl to make them, so maybe its the price that makes them so attractive..

For me it was keeping the camera from scratching while on a table... It protected that.
Also, it kept the phone from having direct contact with surfaces (to avoid scratch)... yah it would probably break if dropped, but if you rubbed up on a hard surface, at least the phone wouldn't scratch

Speck cases!

Not sure why I have yet to see anyone mention these on here, but on a whim I went to their site and saw they are selling 3 styles for our phone now. Back when I had my iphones (3gs and 4) these cases were always my favorite. Once I got my GSII, I didn't see them releasing anything for it and didn't like many of the other cases out there, so I just went commando.
I just ordered the black candy shell (for my white GS3) and will also be checking back to see if any other colors are released. I always felt they offered a great amount of protection (kept my iphone 4 safe MULTIPLE times from really bad drops) and not TOO much bulk (IE- not an otterbox).
Pixelskin HD (had this on my ip4 first, probably the most well constructed tpu style case out there)
http://www.speckproducts.com/smartphone-cases/samsung/pixelskin-hd-for-samsung-galaxy-s3.html
Fabshell (not my cup-o-tea )
http://www.speckproducts.com/fabshell-for-samsung-galaxy-s3.html
Candyshell (cannot wait to get mine)
http://www.speckproducts.com/candyshell-for-samsung-galaxy-s3.html
Once I get mine, I will post up a mini review. But judging from my past experience with them, I know I will love it.
Anyone else get them yet?
I'm planning on getting one of these (Candyshell), however, it appears they color I want isn't in stock yet. (Dark Grey). Apparently some AT&T stores have them in stock though.
I'm on Verizon, but may need to take a trip into AT&T and pick one up.
Somebody on Android Central posted pics of theirs and it is gorgeous. Looks perfect with the SG3.
My wife has the white/pink candyshell one on her Atrix 2 and when i took it off she ad some rusty looking stains on the corners of her phone.
I bought a grey Speck Candyshell from my local AT&T store for $35 while I waited for the cheaper slimmer cases I had ordered. It was a great fit, almost a tad too tight for my liking. But it was very solid, offered nice protection for the back/sides/rim-raised for the screen.
I just returned it as my other cases came, IMO the fit was a little too tight for me, and it added just a bit too much bulk for me, I like my cases barely there. Though I'm sure many will love it, this was just my feeling on it.

Perhaps makeup from her purse? I can't see any case causing something like that.
as the case...with any case (sorry, that just sounded weird), you should remove them from time to time and clean the phone still. Most people I know do not do this and then get all mad when there is dirt scratching the back of the phone. Completely ignoring the fact the case has been on for over a year.

Good point!
I had that happen with my DINC. Scratches from dirt and dust getting in. Was hoping that the Speck wouldn't do that as it's more enclosed and lined, but still..... I think I'll remember to do that from time to time.

My wife's candyshell case doesn't feel rubbery/grippy, however it doesn't ever seem to slip out of her hands either.

I just looked at one at a store and the finish was too smooth for me. I need something with a little more grip. My search continues...
Just ordered the black/dark grey candyshell. All colors of the candyshell are available on their site with free shipping right now.
I ordered one of the candy shells yesterday. It should be here tomorrow. They also said that if enough people hit the feedback button link on the bottom of their main site and request the SmartFlex Card for the gs3, they will make it.
Smartflex for iPhone 4s link
I've already done the feedback so hopefully others will too.
Anyone have pics of their device with the Candyshell on?

That is such a nice looking case.
I read so much about the soft edges eventually flaking though, and the back being easy to scratch

Which color is that listed as on the site? Black/Dark Gray I assume?
Soot/black is the one I want and its the only one thats unavailable! D;
What do you guys think of the Bayou/Pebble on a PB phone? Might go with that if Soot isn't available soon.

That's the same color I ordered. All were available when I ordered and thought the bayou/pebble looked pretty good.
It's the soot/black in the pics above.....picked it up at the ATT store last week. Although a little off topic i also ordered the cruzer lite TPU clear case for $9 off [email protected] Bottomline, you get what you pay for in cases.....don't expect a $35 case for $9. The speck case is a quality product while i feel the other is not.
