anyone else holding their breath for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus tomorrow? vote! - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

with all these delays.. just read 12/8... is anyone still hoping for a 11/21 launch?

Nope. F*ck you Verizon.

just hope for 12/8 and if it comes sooner be happy...
i'm on att and not changing so either i import now, or i wait and hope best buy has one unlocked sometime this year. i want to import but i'm afraid if i do something awesome will happen like att will pick it up with lte or 32gb. that's just my luck...

I'm not gonna lie, I'm hopeful for it but I am pretty sure it won't be lol

Lol don't worry about an LTE/GSM Nexus, if it actually happens it's going to come out next year at this rate. 32GB has pretty much been nixed save for Verizon's version. The leak for the Nexus in VZW tomorrow stated a WEB ONLY release, so it MIGHT still happen I guess, as December 1/8 is stating that's when they'll get it IN STORES with props and flyers, but I wouldn't hold my breath...

And then in 2013, when AT&T LTE is ready, you can use it!
When the Nexus launches on VZW I'm going to be switching from AT&T to Verizon. I've had AT&T for just about 10 years now, faithfully, but there are certain connections problems I'm just getting sick of dealing with. A few places that get no data connection at all, despite having full service and the bright H+ at the top of the phone (indicating HSPA+). I've already had 2 "4G" phones from AT&T (the Atrix 4G and now Samsung Galaxy S II) and I'm sick of dealing with dead spots.
That said, I believe it will be out on December 8th. Any sooner than that is probably just wishful thinking. If it *does* come out sooner I'll get it first day...but definitely not thinking it will.

i live in bentonville, ar home of walmart, well get it by this coming summer (planned) or no later than late fall. this is why i think i'll wait for a sweet(er) phone with lte...

Someone in another thread posted a link to Handtec's twitter page where they said they won't have stock until at least the 23rd, so the 21st is a definite no-go.
Why the hell they don't just put that on thier web site is baffling.

Oops. Well then, being that I was just at VZ here in the US this afternoon, and the manager squinted his eyes and said "Galaxy what?", pretty much says it all.
It's pretty large store, and they had no accessories for it either. I would say tomorrow is not going to happen.

Aye. A friend of mine from highschool (has it already been 10 years? yikes) is a regional manager at VZW and he said he still doesn't have a date, but he also said Verizon probably won't tell the employees until it's very close to release because (in his words, not mine) Verizon employees don't have a track record for keeping their lips shut. He did promise me that he doesn't know when the date is and that he would tell me when he does.

That's why I ditched At&t for T-Mobile. At home I have full bars but can't hold a call for nothing. My gf has at&t still and I can never hardly get a hold of her.
We had 4 people over once and we all had full bars but none of us could call out to order a pizza. My friends have labeled my area a cellular black hole. Most of my nieghbors have recently switched too.
T-Mobile works fine but not on the road so much. My work verizon blackberry seems to always work everywhere I go. So I'm thinking of upgrading the blackberry and get rid of my personal line on TMo.
I don't have extra money till Friday so doesn't matter to me. I'm gonna wait it out for a few after release to allow others to figure it out. I want to make sure its gonna suffice. I'm kinda leery of dopey relying on Verizon cause I tether my Asus Transformer when I travel and like to play with it alot.
LTE doesn't bother me. Ill just disable it most of the time to save battery. 3G is fast enough for me for day to day stuff.

For real. If Verizon gets this exclusively that'll be garbage.
Great, another outlet to throw away our privacy and give companies more of our information to use and sell, for the convenience of being quickly informed of when we can give them more of our money...
Lmao. I got duped on google nexus register. Samsung is sending advertiesments to me now. But no mention of nexus. The ole bait and switch just for advertising. Even lamer.

I am using a damn Samsung gravity. I sold my sensation for this crap. I am going to get amaze.
I just saw that. YOu know what? F*** google. They claim that they intend to do things differently, but then at the end of the day they sell out to the highest bidder.
I was a serious google fan, but the edges are starting to crack and it is slowly dawning on me that the innovative, fast moving company of the early 2000's is becoming a weighed down hegemony of bean counting MBA's who are starting to only get it right when they get lucky.
Exclusive on the most expensive carrier in the USA. The same carrier that replaced their search engine with Bing on 1/3 of their Android lineup. Not a word of it breathed at their week-late press conference. My own fault for getting my hopes up, I suppose.
I am due for a new phone around December/January and this will afford me the opportunity to take a good long look at what Windows phone has to offer before the Galaxy Nexus is even available to me.

Don't feel bad. Just remember one thing. Google is a business company. They don't care about me and you. They support whoever pay more. I am going to get SGS2 or HTC Amaze. I don't have a choice and can't wait longer than the end of nov which is my upgrade time.
i used to be with Tmo but had to switch cause i got stationed in Montana, and now im kinda glad i did, even though I loved the big T
If tmobile is going to get it, they will mention this at the event on Friday. we will see.
Relax. I highly doubt its anything more than a timed exclusive. Both the nexus one and nexus s were only on one carrier originally.
And yes, if you were planning on getting the international one, i'm pretty sure it will still work on AT&T or T-Mo as long as the bands match up.
Well if they're pentaband then you could just buy the world phone model at full price and go. I think it only affects those looking to pick it up on a contract.
It is weird Verizon having a Nexus. Seem to clash together but my work has Verizon so why pay for a personal line?

Bet you when they are referring to the 'exclusive' Galaxy Nexus they are only talking about the LTE model and all the others will get the pentaband one at pretty much the same time.
Just had a thought... I know it doesn't say it, but... maybe it word play. I mean they will be the exclusive carrier of the LTE version, but remember there's too versions. Hhhuuummmm

I'm not gonna act like I'm not disappointed they have exclusively, especially since the other Nexus phones started as exclusive to one carrier as well. I wish they would just drop the whole exclusivity thing and make it available to everyone day one as exclusivity only really hurts the consumer. No way I'm switching to Verizon for this phone. I'll either import or wait for the GSM version to hit the US (if it's not that long of a wait). It's really bad for the phone's sales too considering in the world of smartphones, the next big release is always right around the corner and you will lose a lot of potential customers who will get something else because they don't feel like waiting anymore or something else hits the market. The average consumer doesn't know care about the Nexus brand, they care about new and noteworthy so why not try to rope them in while the iron is hot?

UPDATE: Droid-Life has press shots of the VZW Nexus, eat your heart out.
Source: http://www.droid-life.com/2011/11/30/official-verizon-galaxy-nexus-press-shots-revealed/
UPDATE: Droid-Life has an interesting comparison chart which pegs the LTE Nexus coming in a 32GB flavor with "no OEM customization". Although it's nothing new, it does confirm a few things. Also, bear in mind carrier apps are NOT an OEM skin, so they might still be present.
Source: http://www.droid-life.com/2011/11/2...y-nexus-as-a-phone-with-no-oem-customization/
UPDATE: Droid-Life and other sites have gotten seen an ad for the LTE Nexus and it appears to have a $199.99 price tag. While some people assume that this is the price for the 16GB LTE Nexus, I feel that this is going to be the price of the 32GB version, as it lacks an SD card. As stated before, many LTE Nexus testers are denying that VZW is going to release a 16GB version, and this also coincides with what review sites are saying as well. Also, NegriElectronics have stated that they have heard from an inside VZW source that they will have a shipment to sell on Dec 9th. This means that VZW will have it at the latest by this date and maybe earlier, refuting the claim that it has a Dec 8th release date.

http://www.droid-life.com/2011/11/23/thickness-comparison-lte-vs-gsm-galaxy-nexus/#more-53902
UPDATE: The LTE Model of the Nexus is now running 4.0.2 as reported by P3Droid (VERY reputable insider who actually has an LTE Nexus at this time). It is unclear on if it's just a bugfix or if it makes the phone faster. Leaning toward bugfixes considering it's a small jump.
UPDATE: The phone will be released in December, NOT 11/27 or 12/1 as reported by some. Also, the "Ghost Volume Bug" does NOT occur on the LTE Nexus so far, and does not occur on the GSM Nexus in the States either (900mHz bug as stated in the other threads).
Alright, I know many are wondering what is happening with this screwed up launch and why the Galaxy Nexus is taking so long to arrive here in the states, so I thought I would consolidate all the information in one thread.
First, I would like to address the LTE Nexus.
This phone IS CONFIRMED to arrive in a 32GB flavor and be exclusive to Verizon in the states. Now, considering that Verizon has no Galaxy S2 variant of their own, it is almost 100% likely that they made a deal with Google. The reason Google agreed to it was simply for the LTE hookup, because Verizon is the only carrier with "4G" and Sprint is dumping their WiMAX.
The official page @ http://www.google.com/nexus/#/tech-specs has seemed to confuse a bunch of people, as it now only says 16GB for all models, but this is probably incorrect. Firstly, it erroneously states "Varies" on Network, when it's a confirmed Verizon Exclusive, at least for the LTE/CDMA variant.
Now, for why it is delayed:
This seems to be a collaborative failure on both Google and Verizon's part. black_man_x (a very connected mobile phone insider) says:
Not placing the blame all on Verizon.. there are screw ups on both sides.
but it looks to be much more on Verizon's end than Google and Samsung's
If you can't code your ****ty carrier apps to work with a device or OS.. is that our issue or yours? #justsaying
to be honest everyone is tired of vzw bull****. device is no longer a nexus due to their dumb ass games.. Unlocked works great on att..
and my favorite:
I'm tired of these "technical issue" rumors about the nexus delay.. Should just bring back the google.Com/phone address back
to back up the storage, he actually tested the 32GB LTE model and says there is no 16GB option for VZW:
As for the storage question.. would vzw release a cheaper less mem model and still charge the same amount? Does that answer your question?
So, with that being said, don't hold your breath on Verizon. They're the first carrier to actually put branding all over the Nexus line, so much so that they REMOVED the "Google" logo entirely for their logo.
So, Verizon faithfuls and hopefuls, what's your take on this whole launch fiasco?
Waiting is annoying but its not like Verizon themselves came out and said it's coming out and specific date so it really hasn't been pushed back
True you can't push back what was never announced but that's just a Catch-22 and is complete BS to me.
I'm on Verizon right now with my Droid Charge. I really really want this phone, but verizon seems to be screwing everything up. As the days go on, it's making me want this phone less and less because I don't want to support Verizon for all their messed up policies and actions.
That sounds about how I expected the situation. VZW screwing things up and trying to take control, Google letting it happen because they have no other LTE option.
I mean, I would understand the need to test the phone, but come on! It's been announced since forever and I don't want the LTE version, just the GSM version. They should have done it like the Nexus S and released the CDMA 4G version later.
Sent from my Sensation using XDA App
If the above is true... Gotta wonder if the 32gb version was part of a Vzn negotiated deal to encourage sales to buyers of unlocked devices. In any event 32gb unlocked devices should be available.
With the way Vzn has honked things up, I can only hope the clock is ticking on Vzn's exclusivity.
You should have an option for "want LTE but not on Verizon" - AT&T (crappy as they can be, I know) have what, 11 cities now with LTE and an "aggressive" rollout for it in 2012? I'd rather have an LTE GN on AT&T- were this a perfect world, but I am sure they would try to bloat it just the same... [no Verizon 3G or 4G officially here in the eastern panhandle of WV]
I sure hope it comes out soon before the verizon double data promotion expires. I really don't like Verizon but they have the best coverage and data speeds in my area, plus 4G LTE.

I also forgot to mention that I would get a 19 percent discount with my employer, so that makes the basic 4 GB (double data plan) like 70 something dollars, which I pay for now like 84 unlimited data with sprint (although unusable data because sprint sucks right now). I'll probably opt for the 10 gig plan because I plan on using the hell out of the 4G when I get it.
As a VZW customer I hate all of this. I've never had to go through anything like this with other carriers but, admittedly; I've never waited on a phone before it launched. All my previous nexus phones were with T-mobile and, I bought them after release.
It's pretty frustrating but, there's nothing I can do about it. I don't actually need a new phone like some people. However, I do wish I had stayed with T-mobile, if I had; the Galaxy nexus would be on it's way from Handtec now. I also had great service with T-mobile in my city and, the HSPA+ was really fast.
Those of you switching to Verizon I simply cannot fathom a tiered data plan on LTE. That's just insane to me.

Yeah no kidding. Ever since 2010 the service has just gotten worse. I mean Sprint is going to improve and by the end of 2013 they (in theory) will have the best LTE and 3G network, I just don't want to pay for the unusable service until then. Hopefully it will be unlimited still.
At this point I'm just tired paying 80+ bucks a month for a service I'm not getting.

lol "best" LTE and 3G is a joke. They won't ever be best because they don't have the funding to be the best. They need to stop thinking they can actually compete with Verizon and AT&T. They could have the best service in the world, but they don't have, and can't get, the numbers required to be the best.

NS launched on T-Mobile, so it was the first carrier to fully have the NS.
It is rumored that Verizon has exclusivity rights to Galaxy Nexus within the states. Its exclusivity time is unknown.
Galaxy Nexus is a pretty amazing device overall. Been using it the past few days.
how long did it take other carriers to carry it?
All you gotta do is buy a GSM Galaxy Nexus. It's pentaband so it should work fine on T-Mobile networks.

Expansys & Negri are pretty reputable.
I got mines from Negri for using the promotion code "vzsucks" (might of had expired by now) but you can try. Ships out of Las Vegas, NV.
Expansys I believe ships out from Chicago, IL.
Newegg ships from: New Jersey, California, or Tenn. (Unsure which one it is for the GN)
Got mine from negri, and I am with T-Mobile. Its great a little expensive but well worth it in my opinion. Honestly, I got some sort of a twisted satisfaction knowing that I had it before Verizon assholes got it.. haha. I was upset that it went to Verizon.

Agreed. I went into a Verizon store the day after getting it like 2 weeks ago and pulled it out in front of them. They were amazed, I almost nut my pants.

Just curious , I'm so anxious to get this phone , would be nice to see a release date at least you know . The phone came out today at best buy and it kills me to see that it is exclusively for Verizon I was so sure that when this phone was going to come out that it would go to T-Mobile first

Nobody has any indication whatsoever that this phone is coming to T-Mobile officially. Honestly considering that the VZW version just came out yesterday, i wouldn't be holding my breath on a T-Mo announcement any time soon.

Honestly just buy the GSM version! I just did and can't wait for it to arrive!
With the Verizon device already down to $150 with a new two-year contract through Amazon Wireless, wonder if that will have any impact on whether a cheaper US version of the GSM Galaxy Nexus gets sold here. Maybe the only option will be to buy an imported GSM device. How soon before the import cost comes down to somewhere less than $600? When the quad core phones come out in the spring?

Amazon Wireless (and similar outlets) are selling brand new phones for around 1/2 their carrier price all the time. They're not discounting because of low demand, it actually makes sense for them to sell at that price. They get new contracts and extra ETFs out of it. It has nothing to do with the price of the GSM version or the version coming to the USA. Verizon has a set exclusivity time, and that contract between VZW and Google isn't going to change based on price.
I don't know how long it'll take for the import price to come down under $600, but it'll definitely be a little while. I bet you'll see it in the low $600's, but under $600 is damn cheap.
just get one imported.. or do like i did and get one in your city. i'm using it on t-mobile and everything works great! 4G/3G with better service than any other phone i've had. Yes!

[Q] What's your next phone?

So, I am currently in the market for a new phone because I am sick of how HTC treats their customers. I was wondering if you guys thought jumping on the Galaxy Nexus would still be a good idea even though the Sg3 is out.
The Sg3 looks amazing, but it is kind of out of my price range with the average price being $400. I have found a few Nexus' anywhere from $200-250 which is more my style. The thing that worries me though is that it is already close to a year old and I know the minute I purchase one the next greatest phone will be out.
Does anyone know when the next Nexus phone will be out? I am due for an upgrade around March, but would really like to jump to a 4g phone before then.
What do you guys think? Stay with the inc2, grab a Nexus, or just wait until I can get something with my upgrade?
Any ideas?
I've had an upgrade since July I was going to get the sg3 but when I found out it was dual core it turned me off BC I was stoked for quad. Then I was going to get the inc4g, but I hate sense and I'm tired of HTC. I was close to getting the gnex on Saturday for $50 from best buy, but like you said its already a year old plus the 5mp camera is kinda iffy for me especially since the og Inc had an 8mp back in 2010! I'm going to wait for the galaxy note 2 coming out soon 1.6 quad core 2gigs ram super HD amoled running JB
I was considering a SG3 as well, or the GNEX, but I am currently satisfied with the Inc2 at the moment and will way my options when I am ready for a new device. I am curious if anyone has tested out any of these phones and had any opinions as well. I have not "upgraded" since they got away from unlimited data, so I am still grandfathered in and not sure if I will sign a new contract or just purchase the phone. The 4g is not a big issue with me as Big Red has not brought it to our area yet, and probably wont see it anytime soon.
Maybe I will wait for the Note 2 as well. My friend has the SG3 and the screen on it is beautiful. The one thing about the Note which I am unsure about is the stylus. I don't know how I feel about that. It's not like that is a big deal breaker for me, just something I'm unsure about. I have had 4g in my area since it has been released, for the most part, so I def want to go 4g. I am worried I will lose my unlimited, which is why I was starting to look for 4g now.
Samsung does make a great looking phone though. Colors are so vibrant on them. When the Note 2 comes out, is it supposed to be better than SG3 or is that phone still going to be considered the best?

It's not HTC's fault. They already gave the OTA to vzw a while ago. It's big red's fault for not releasing the goddamn update already because they need to bloat the **** out of it before they can be satisfied.

The stylus to me is just an accessory. You can function the phone without it. If I use my upgrade I will lose unlimited, but I'm only using 1.3 gigs a month. Not to mention my $200 phone bill and 2 unused phone lines. So upgrading will cancel unlimited data but I'll be saving $100+ dollars a month with my military discount. There's no real reason to use 4gig+ of data so I wouldn't worry about losing unlimited. Unlimited data users probably are getting throttled anyway. The note 2 is going to be a supercharged s3. Check out the specs on both http://www.autoomobile.com/news/samsung-galaxy-note-2-vs-s3-4/1003595/
My only problem is whether to stay on Verizon or not. The Verizon version of the note2 is going to have the Verizon brand on the home button! I can't believe that. I'm super satisfied with my inc2 only BC I rooted. But the lack of ota is troubling. This phone isn't that old

Do you know of a way to check the actual data usage without calling up Verizon? I also just did watch a few videos of the Note 2 being used and all I can say is WOW. This phone looks like it is going to be a pure beast. Also, you are right about the stylus being an accessory. After watching this video with it in use, I think I completely changed my opinion on it.
This is the video I just watched:

I only have 2 options for cellular service, Verizon or Cell One because I live in a small town. I have been with Verizon since probably 2004, switching from Sprint when I lived in Atlanta GA. I have never had an issue with them as far as service quality, prices are a bit high but I will pay for them as long as I have good service. As for the Inc 2 I will probably use it for another year or so before I consider switching, unless something happens to it before then. I have only been using mine for about 3 months or so and paid $75 for it from an acquaintance of mine that upgraded to the RazrMaxx.

I am from New Jersey love the service I get from Verizon. I have yet to go someplace that doesn't give me great service (unless I'm in a basement with no windows or something similar). As for other services, I have just about everything you can find in my area and from having friends I pretty much see everyone leave all other to come to Verizon. AT&T is the only one that can compete with Verizon in my area, but the only people I know that have that service is the Iphone users. For $75 you can't go wrong with this phone. It is def a great phone and aside from the lack of updates and no 4g that is my only complaint.
Nitsua, you say Big Red has the OTA and I have heard that before also, but how true is it? Is Verizon keeping the OTA secret because they are bloating it up or do they actually not have it? We may never know the truth until it is either released or they come out and say that the OTA will not be coming. Of course, I hope it comes, but I feel myself slowly getting sick and tired of the wait, especially since they promised up end of Aug. and now we are a week from October.
Yes, They have been late on phones before, but from my research, this is the longest they have gone after missing a date which really angers me towards both HTC and Verizon.

Verizon has it. How else would you guys have your ics leak . They have to perfect it though and make sure that there are no bugs. Also since it's an older device that not many people have, they are setting their focus on other phones.

I'm not too bothered by not getting the ICS OTA honestly. There are plenty of ICS ROMs that are functional enough for me to use. I'll just stick it out until I can upgrade in July, 2013 and either upgrade or switch carriers. Who knows what phones will be out by then?

Play store has a VZW app for usage.
I have a droid bionic just sittin here. I may use that, but with that remote phone wipe hack I may just forget about it.The hack doesn't seem to affect the INC2.
my upgrade isn't till may. Depending on the inc4g, i will purchase it if its s-off. Otherwise, I think i'll be getting the SGSIII. My next phone has to be unlocked someway.
I'm really diggin the xperia phones. And it looks like most of them are getting ics in the next couple weeks. The ion is free on the us sony site.
Depends what's out by August 2013

[Q] No nexus 4, now what?

Hey guys, mainly asking for your opinions so just let them fly.
I currently have a Thunderbolt and my contract is up at the end of November now I am trying to decide what to do next. I was fully anticipating going with the nexus 4 (I was prepared to never buy a non nexus device as long as Google keeps making them). Now that the nexus 4 will not be on Verizon and switching to at&t isn't an option since I get 25% off my bill through work, what would you guys do if you were in my situation? The Gnex is going to be cheap as hell when am eligible for an upgrade and am still considering it, should I be? Do you think Gnex development will slow down dramatically any time soon? I'd also hate to buy a phone with outdated hardware...do you guys run into hardware limitations withe the Gnex?
The only other phone that intrigues me is the galaxy s3. Mainly because it is so popular that I see there being a huge development opportunity there? I looked through the thread for the GS3 and it looks like there plenty of aosp roms and it looks to me like there will be quick updates for it as well. The biggest things I hate about the GS3 are the hardware buttons, I love the customisable soft keys in aosp and think that hard keys are so pointless anymore.
I'm pretty much against moto but if you really think I should look at something they have to offer, let me know.
Any thoughts and opinions are appreciated, thanks in advance.

My advice? Wait and watch. See how the N4 actually pans out as a device itself. It could be a hardware flop for all we know at this point. There were certainly fun hardware issues with the Gnex.
Then wait a bit longer for the HTC DNA. It might turn out to be a barnburner, or something to burn the barn with.
Then make a decision.
I'm not sure if the Moto RAZR i or HD is a good option or not for you.
Its up on you dude. go out & explore something new and one more thing that the GS3 is a pretty good option.

I would wait if I where u. If u really need a new phone I would say the galaxy as 3 is a good choice. I have the gnex with Verizon and I love it. I dont have no issues at all my signal is always good i dont drop any calls or never go into 3g lol. (Must be my area i live in) Only problem I see u having is the storage capacity. The gnex on Verizon is now offered with only 16GB. No more 32GB. But as stated before, wait it out a few more months and see what's around the corner. If anything get a used nexus from craigslist for like 250 bucks to hold u over. That way up don't waist your upgrade on a phone u might regret

25% off of Verizon's prices is still more expensive then Straight Talk or T-Mobile prepaid.... why not get a Nexus 4 anyway and stop signing contracts?

The answer for most people? Coverage.
Coverage, Coverage, Coverage.
If you have a Thunderbolt, that means you still have unlimited data right? So if you're planning on buying a Nexus anyway, you might as well just find an unlocked one (i've seen used ones for ~$150-250) so that you won't have to upgrade. If I remember correctly (and I might be wrong), but Verizon only takes away the unlimited data when you try to upgrade.
No offense, but then he'd be stuck with T-Mobile's network and current lack of LTE. I root for T-Mobile; however, I was miserable when I was using them in suburban Denver, due to relatively inconsistent/slow data.

You can use AT&T's towers via Straight Talk if T-Mobile isn't great for your area. AT&T's HSPA+ network is pretty expansive.
Also, he wouldn't be "stuck" with anything - he could take the SIM card out and flush it down the toilet if the service bothers him. That's the beauty of not having a contract
I had the gnex on Verizon and loved it, except for one crucial issue-battery life. Sure, this was remedied somewhat by getting spare batteries, but this got to be a pain in the ass.
I currently have the Verizon SIII and love it (I find the dev community to be more than adequate). Yet I agree that it is worth waiting for the inevitable next greatest thing. The DNA does look to be badass

Yeah the main reason why I stay with Verizon is coverage and my discount. At&t is the only other viable option, all the others are spotty at best around where I live.
Yeah I never thought of trying to get a gnex off contract. That would probly be the best option seeing that I'm getting married in June and will most likely have to revamp my plan for me and the wife anyway.
My friend just got the s3, he doesn't root or anything like I do but I can still bug him about the battery life at least.

The only way I'll be buying a Nexus 4 is if it's gifted to me.
I honestly want to wait it out for MWC and HTC's 2013 lineup.

I'm not real big on the next best thing, the S3 would be in that category for me. Do you stick with touchwiz ROMs or aosp (or aokp)?
I have a sour taste in my mouth for HTC and I'm sick of waiting. I thought I waited for the next best thing with the Tbolt when I was coming from the OG droid. Samsung at least gets it right with their flagship devices. They don't come out with almost an identical phone but with more bugs worked out 3 months later.
I'll wait till Christmas and see what all comes but that's as long as I'll wait.

Straight talk offers an AT&T SIM that gives you unlimited* everything for $45/mo. I think it's actually their most popular plan.
*2-5gb of data before they start to nag, depending on how the stars align for you. Since, you know, unlimited is never actually unlimited in the US anymore...
If you are only with verizon because of the discount, try calling up another phone company and see if they can match the offer or sweeten the pot for you. My brother gets a corporate discount with Bell (here in Canada) and so he called up Rogers (who he's with), and told them that he can get such and such plan for such and such price and asked if he can match it otherwise he'd switch. I forget the specifics of what he got but he was able to get a discount because of it.
Otherwise, just wait like many others said. Perhaps you can get a sweeter phone than the nexus.

don't be annoying like that
To OP: I'm in a similar situation actually, except that I use a GNex right now instead of a TurdBolt. Nobody knows if a Nexus 4 will come to VZN, but I'd probably just buy a GNex until something better rolls around later. And if you do have unlimited data, DO NOT UPGRADE! I cannot fathom losing my unlimited data at this point of my spoiled-data-consumption life. And the development for the VZN GNex is pretty healthy actually. Nothing to complain about, especially when you know you have a reliable connection at the end of the day.
I'm in agreement there, I dumped my tbolt for a gnex and it was a huge step up. You can grab one for fairly cheap off contract now too. I have little to complain about besides battery being a moderate problem. It still beats the tbolt for battery life by quite a bit though, and has given me better data reception. My main urge to upgrade is called 'upgraditis'. For now I'll be trying to treat the symptoms.
