Bestbuy launches Verizon Gnex page. $299 - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I knew that 199 was a joke !

As someone who isn't up for a contract price on AT&T, I'm glad I imported mine for $729. I knew it was the right choice! Plus who the heck knows when/if AT&T will even get the GNEX...

That's typical best buy.. buying it outright from the carrier is always cheaper than what best buy charges.

That's the Best Buy price, I imagine it will be $699 for the 32gb from Verizon. I kinda wish I waited although I'll be gone for over a month.

I have no doubt it's the 32GB version. I don't think it will cost that much on Verizon though. However I was willing to pay close to that for shipping it overnight from Espansys so, I would pay it for a 32GB model.

I see.. I wish they would hurry up and release the 32GB sim-free version so I can order it! Probably going to take months to arrive here and like they did for the SGS they will "arabize" it for the middle east which I hate (the arabization, not the middle-east )

Best Buy's off contract Verizon phones are usually quite expensive. That $799 price is being inflated by Best Buy. Anyone thats going to buy this phone off contract should just get it from Verizon, probably a bit cheaper.

Doesn't BB price match though? If so you should technically be able to get it for whatever Verizon sells it for off contract.

I have no inside knowledge, but my hunch is that VzW's off-contract price will be about $650. And I wouldn't be surprised if Amazon sells it at a subsidized price of $150 before the end of this year.

they never price match carrier out the door pricing. neither does walmart. i tried with other phones..lol

Hopefully amazon will have a lower price. Also costco is usually cheaper or they throw in accessories. We got my wife's stratosphere for $30 with accessories vs $150 at Verizon. They had the razr for $289 with a dock and car kit.

Verizon’s latest minimum advertised pricing (MAP) list has added two devices that are no doubt on everyones short list for the holidays. The fan favorite has to be the Galaxy Nexus (Prime), but the HTC Rezound (Vigor) is no slouch in the specs department and HTC certainly has a loyal following amongst the Android faithful.
Considering what these phones have to offer it will probably come as no surprise that they are grabbing Verizon’s top pricing at $299.99 on a 2-year contract. We had a nice run there when $199 was the worst they would do to us, but clearly those days are gone for now.
Does $299 seem like a fair price for these devices to you? How does the November 10th release date sit with you? Should they have pushed to get it closer to the iPhone’s release or is just making sure it is out in time for the holidays good enough?
I only care about the unsubsidized price. I am anticipating paying out the ass for this thing.
$299 on a contract does seem a bit excessive. Hopefully when they do get around to launching an ICS device on Sprint, as usual, the hype will have come down along with the cost.
Do you guys think it will be available unlocked in november in the U.S. ? Which stores?

I'm sure you can get one unsubsidized at any Verizon store. Just tell them you're going to activate it later or its a gift.
Looking at the price from one of the UK stores already advertising it for £514.80 ($813) VAT included and £429 ($628) base for the 16gig model. Of course that's before any official pricing is available so take with a Mt. Everest size grain of salt.
I am going to get the 32gig GSM version as soon as it hits the street. My N1 is getting long in the tooth.

Just curious, but what do people use all of that space for? I'd initially think music, but with Google Music streaming everything or Pandora that seems less feasible. What would the extra 16GB of storage go to?

Well for starters I fly a lot so Pandora or a cloud is out of the question for me. I have several gigabytes of music, not counting that I want to use that gorgeous HD screen to watch movies(each movie in HD is about 2GB or more) and play games. That's without adding all the 1080p videos that I'll be taking. Hence, I need more that 16GB. The new Razr has an sd card slot, and it has hdmi port built in to watch Netflix in HD on your big screen tv. I may tilt toward the Razr this time.

according to the Bestbuy Ad it is the i9250m or HSI925BR
Since it's for Bell and Virigin in Canada, it can only possibly be the GSM/HSPA+ version. The CDMA/LTE model is specific to Verizon and won't work for anyone else.
i can almost bet damn Bell will not sell those phones without a contract like Telus / Rogers did with launch phones

Hopefully some Canadian friends will find out for us if this thing has microSD slot, because Samsung Ca website list that it does, but BestBuy Ca website doesn't say so.
I just got back from bell and put my $50.00 deposit and yes there are selling the phone outright. $649.00 and it's 16gb..
Does anybody know if the Canada version will have Tmobile USA 3G/4G bands? I'm thinking it may be cheaper overall to buy the Canada version then it would the UK/International version.

Base on Samsung and BestBuy Canadian site, it do support the 1700 and 2100 HSPA bands.

I'm using the phone right now. There's no external memory slots.
I talked to Bell about 2 days ago, you have to be already a Bell customer or a new customer on a new contract, to buy. They will not sell outright at least for the first month of sales.

I'm planning on buying on Thursday and using my Telus SIM. I don't mind buying a 30 Day for $30 to get it a month early. I'm already paying $649.99 plus taxes for the phone. What's $30 after that?
What I am hearing is some confusion as to whether Bell is locking the phones. I thought that was just them assuming, until I heard that some UK carriers had locked them too. Has anyone heard anything definite about locked/unlocked?
I'm gonna guess they'll be unlocked but I have no solid information, just using the Nexus S last year as a proxy (was never sold locked in Canada despite what the carriers said).
Also it might be easier to get it from Virgin Mobile if you want to just buy it outright, which is what I'll try - their supertab or whatever dumb thing they call it then just cancel immediately after.
why cant verizon make ad like that and post it on their website ughhh i am getting sick of verizon
i wouldn't be worried about the SIM lock
you can always go online to have it unlocked
heck even just across the street inside Eaton Center lower level there's a cell phone kiosk there that does unlocking
I hope that's not the case. I'd much rather get it from Canada than from across the pond.
They won't be locked.
If you buy if from Futureshop or Best Buy you will be able to buy it outright. If you go to a Bell store they won't let you buy it without signing up for at least one month of service.
Not according to this...

$48.88 in Sam's Club

Sam's Club in store price of $48.88 for new contracts or renewals. Got one yesterday. Sam's Club does require a membership, they start at $40.
not a bad price for someone set on getting a new e4gt on contract. good share!
The only Samsung phone i see is the galaxy 2. The only phone i know that is called that is the t-mobile phone. It says club price of 580. Am i missing something? Aren't they supposed to be cheaper? Sprint wants 500 full price. Best buy is the same way, more expensive full price than Sprint.
Why would anyone shop at Sams Club? Do you hate the working class or just mom and pop stores? XDA should ban all references to Walmart and Sam Club. I can see why their phones are cheap when they pay their workers peanuts and give the literature on how to get food stamps and welfare.

I guess you did. $11 cheaper than Amazon wireless before tax. That 11 is including the 40 for a membership to sams. I suppose if you want to be a **** about it, you could get the membership, buy the phone, leave for a while then come back and say you don't want the membership any more and want a refund. At least their website says you can get a membership refund. I didn't look into the details and conditions for the refund yet.
I'm guessing Amazon wont have tax and get free shipping. If you don't get the refund then its almost the same price after taxes if you get it at sams.

http://www.droid-life.com/2012/11/07/sams-club-black-friday-ad-lists-galaxy-s3-for-0-96/
Sam’s Club is now the owner of the “Best Black Friday Deal Award” for the time being. According to their Black Friday ad, they plan to sell the Samsung Galaxy S3 for 96 cents ($0.96) the day after Thanksgiving. Yes, if you are a part of the club, you can pick up the hottest phone of the year for less than a dollar, as long as you are down to sign a new 2-year contract. Talk about a steal.
They will also have the Galaxy Tab 2 7″ and 10″ tablets for $179 and $299, respectively.

Refurbs?
I stopped by the the Sprint kiosk at my local mall today. The price for the S3 upgrade was $199.00. So I told the salesman about some of the Black Friday prices and the fact that Walmart had it for $149.00 a few weeks back. His response was that the phones at Walmart and Bestbuy were refurbs. I don't think that's the case, but how about it? Does anybody know if these vendors are actually offering refurbished units?

Did this apply to upgrading a line or do you need a totally new 2 year agreement? I have two lines I've been sitting in upgrades for a while now.

Says qualifying service agreement on pic. Not sure how they'll determine that.

Course he would say that. He's bitter you weren't going to buy from him.
I'd suspect that it would almost be illegal to not advertise them as being refurbished.

The small print picture is at the bottom of the main advertisement. I'm assuming it's for everybody everything on sale. But I could be wrong.

I think The 96¢ deal at Sams Club will probally be just for new contracts. I say that because if you check the Sams Club web site now they do have 2 different prices for the S3 depending on whether its a new contract vs. being eligible for an upgrade on an existing contract. Currently it's 99.99 vs 149.99 respectively. So my guess is that if they are offering 2 tier pricing now (actually 3 tier since you can also pay full price with no contract), the 96¢ price is likey the lowest and I wonder what the price will be for an upgrade. Still 49.00 or 99.00 is a good deal seeing as I paid 199.99 each for 2 S3's a few months ago. Iv've got a third number on my account and its eligible for an upgrade.

About that Sams ads is bad news for me becuase here in Puerto Rico Sams only sells AT&T and T Mobile phones.

I'm guessing price matching from other stores wouldn't be an option with this ad because it's a 'club' store.
I could see a Best Buy sales manager having a stroke when they see 50 GS3s being sold for $47 less than what BB will be offering on black friday.

I saw the note 2 on walmart.com for $139.99

But this is for new customers only...
My contract has been up since october but I'm under my uncles account, so would I be able to create an account and just port my number over?
Also, I believe Best Buy will pricematch anything on walmart.com till the 31st...so people who really will sign up for the first time, I believe this will be the cheapest route..I've never seen it so low lol

when exactly did you see this and what zip code did you use? When I do a search theydont show the price. Meaning if Best Buy cant confirm the price its a no go. Ironically they show prices on other phones but when I use my zip it shows no available which means I need a zip code that shows a state that has them... Mine is in transit from BB after returning it back to Sprint Store for $50 less at Best But THEN of couse I see this. Not too late though since I havent even received it yet
Thanks

Is this the best deal I'm going to find for a renewal? The only thing that bothers me is that it's a 1-2 week wait on Amazon.

Got a kick out of that. Told me the same thing - heck, even the order confirmation told me it would be end of January. Got them about a week later (on Christmas eve)

I wouldn't worry about the shipping time for Amazon. I just switched from Verizon to Sprint because of this Amazon deal for $99 and it originally said 1-2 week wait. On Dec 27 looked at my account and it said that it wouldn't ship until Feb 4th, the next day I received an email stating it was shipped and was here 2 days later.
I'm so glad I got this phone for $99, makes the sting of not having 4G any more better since this phone is fast as hell. Now I just need to sell my VZW Nexus.
Best buy denied me! No online only price match.

They can't deny online price, they can only deny the new price for a renewal. I would go back and if they still say no talk to the store manager and if still nothing then call the 1800 number. The online price match is a best buy policy that may be extended for the rest of the year. My local store said if they take it away they will still honor it. Good luck and don't just let them do whatever they want. Fight for it.

I would buy it from walmart.com, especially if you live in a state like my state (CA) that charges prices on the full retail amount of the phone before discounts. a phone like the Note 2 is easilly a $50+ tax, but on walmart.com, they don't charge tax so it's $139 out the door. I bought mine last month when it was $199 ($299-$100 walmart gift card) and was charged no tax on the phone.
