UK Nexus on VZW? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So can I get a 4g card form VZW and buy a Nexus from one of the sites in the UK that is selling them or the one company here in the states and put it on VZW and make it work? My Dinc is slowing down and I really and sick of waithing.
Thanks for any help!

You'll need to wait for the LTE version to use a nexus on verizon, the GSM version will only work on AT&T and T-Mobile.

Just looked through the forum again and found my answer. Wont work... Sure would be nice if VZW would let us at it.

Damn, you still haven't gotten your GS2? I would of thought by now you've gotten it. Your practically part of the GS2 family. You've been mingling and answering questions for a while now.

Stupid Question, I have been scouring the internet, but is the Telus Version on the SGS2 going to have the same radio as the T-Mobile Version? Just wondering, as I want to get it for Wind Mobile here in canada. tx.
yes, it's the same phone
just locked to Telus instead of Tmobile
available next Friday 28 $599.99
Sweet! Thanks for the quick response! Now to decide T-Mobile or Telus....529 USD vs. 599 CAD plus tax
Hate to break it to you guys but telus uses the same bands as ATT not tmobile. Unless something has recently changed, telus shares the same network with bell. Im currently using a telus dhd on bell.
The Telus SG2 appears to have the same specs as the T-Mobile Version (larger Screen size, and 1.5 ghz processor) than the other versions of the SG2 that are out there. From everything I have seen and read on line, the T-Mobile version radio will support 3g on AT&T, so I am hoping that the telus version will be the same as the T-Mo. I currently have a T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant, and it works 3G on both At&T (Rogers) or T-Mobile (Wind/Mobilicity).
Based on Telus website information:
telusmobility.com/fr/QC/samsung_galaxy_s_II_x/index.shtml
The Samsung Galaxy S II should be compatible with 1700 and 2100 MHZ (required for T-Mobile but also for Videotron Quebec network).
Hope that these information on the Telus website are true!
Good day!
I went for the T-Mobile one, I'm on Mobilicity in Vancouver. Found a retailer selling it for $529.99 CAN, SIM unlocked.
I'm actually going to be in Vancouver next week. Would you mind passing along the name of the retailer? Thanks

I reside in Vancouver as well. Could you let me know of this retailer?

They have 6 stores, but I think only the Kingsway has them in stock. Call before you go in to check if they have any (they said they only had 3 left when I got mine).
Thanks for the link. I just wanted to make sure that you did get this one, because the specs listed on the website are wrong for the T-Mobile version. Wrong processor, and screen size. Is yours taged with the T-Mobile Logo on the front? Thanks
Haha, yea. Everyone I link it to is like, "Are you sure that's the right one?". The person who did the website obviously copied down the incorrect spec sheet. But no fears, it is the SGH-989! Has T-Mobile branding and everything.
Perfect!! Thanks for the info!! Will probably order in the AM!
Thanks for the link, much appreciated!!!
The phone is running smoothly?

Pretty decently, although I had to use Titanium Backup to freeze all the Bloat. Still trying to get this thing working how I want it to. Mobile Hotspot is still giving me troubles, but I'll figure it out eventually.
4 more days to go!!!!
looking forward to Friday, to finally get this beast!
crossing my fingers the Root and CWR works the same on the phone.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Nexus to Canada...?

Hi guys,
Sorry if this has already been posted but I've been researching but couldn't find anything. I couldn't find any release dates for Canada except for the UK on November, 17, 2011, but now I'm hearing it's being delayed until the 2nd of December. Anyone got any idea of when this phone will come out in Canada? Or even if it's coming to Canada? Thanks for the help.
It's coming to Canada, but no one knows the release date. Here's a Mobilesyrup (Phone blog run by Canadians) hands on of the phone: http://mobilesyrup.com/2011/11/09/samsung-galaxy-nexus-hands-on-video/

They showed it on CTV two days ago, which is owned by Bell.
Also, a Phandroid member said their store was visited by a Bell corporate Rep recently, and the Rep said it was coming to Bell around Christmas.
Keep in mind this is some random person on reddit...

Sometime in November sounds better than Bell at Christmas, if there's any truth to it...
A friend of mine was recently in a Rogers store looking for a new phone. She ended up getting an EVO 3D that they had on for $0.01, but she said the guy in the store was telling her all about the Nexus. I might stop by a Rogers store tomorrow and see what they say.
Would it even matter what provider got it first, I thought these things are unlocked anyways?

It should be unlocked, and that's exactly why one carrier getting it "sometime in November" is better for everyone than another carrier not having it until Christmas.
Of course, the carrier that gets it first might still matter to some people if they want to buy on contract...

Canadian sign up page.
Bell and Virgin Mobile now both have official Galaxy Nexus pages, with their own sign-up forms. No date other than "early December" so far, but this is the first official carrier confirmation I've seen in Canada, so it's still good news.

Would a Bell.ca phone be compatible on T-Mobile US? They don't use LTE, so I assume it is the GSM version. Would probably be a lot cheaper then importing from europe...
Most Canadian carriers, including Bell, are compatible with AT&T for 3G or 4G HSPA+ and not T-Mobile.
However... the Galaxy Nexus is a peta-band phone so it would work on any of them, including T-Mobile so importing would work.
EDIT: Bell and Rogers do both have LTE in a number of locations in Canada, but it's not very likely they'll be using the LTE version.

Thanks! Know any good reseller sites that would import it to the US? I assume bell wouldn't export it.
Anyone else preorder from Negri, handtec or clove? I did, not sure if i should cancel!

Expansys Canada is taking pre-orders, but it's not cheap: http://www.expansys.ca/google-nexus-prime-android-smartphone-unlocked-16gb-224148/
Not sure about any other sellers yet, but maybe someone could buy you one from Bell and send it

Not me... even paying full price without contract from Bell or another Canadian carrier is likely going to be cheaper than importing, and "early December" is soon enough for me that I'll just wait it out.

Yeah, that is way too expensive to me. I figured without it coming from europe with all that VAT taxes, ect, it would be around the 600's
Looks like Rogers is getting the Galaxy Nexus too!

Telus will be getting the Nexus as well, looks like people can finally stop complaining over the internet over which carrier gets the Nexus...

Not until January though. I'm considering switching to Bell when they have it in early December, after 11 years with Rogers. Rogers also has hardly any HSPA+ coverage in Nova Scotia, while Bell has it over the whole province, so Bell getting the Galaxy Nexus first might just make me switch...
Bell and Virgin are first to get Galaxy Nexus in Canada.

as u know Future Shop will start getting pre order from monday in canada...
any one have any information about which version is supposed to release by Future Shop? ( GSM,CDMA,LTE........... )
unlocked or .....
tnx
According to the Verge, the LTE 32GB model is for Verizon only. The rest of the world gets the 16GB unlocked pentaband HSPA+ model.

It could only be the HSPA+ version, as the CDMA/LTE version works ONLY on Verizon's network. I would guess Future Shop would be selling them for Bell or Virgin (can anyone confirm?). It should be unlocked (Nexus S was), but we won't know for sure until someone gets one and reports.

Use with dumbphone plan on AT&T?

I used to have the international version of the GSII, and I was able to give the IMEI to AT&T, and tell them that it was a dumb phone. This allowed me to use the unlimited $15 data plan.
My understanding is that this is because they don't have the IMEI in their system since it's an international phone. If I were to buy the Galaxy Nexus from Google, would I be able to do the same thing? Or would I have to import one from Europe/Asia? Not sure how the IMEI thing works
Guess I'll try it anyway
Did it work? Anyone know? Looking to do the same thing. Currently have a nexus one on the dumbphone plan, looking to go to a galaxy nexus.

If you already have the plan, go ahead and try it.
I would like to know if this worked as well. I have a photon which is an American phone but is also a world phone and by default is locked to international GSM. Im about to use the domestic hack for the radio to use this as a go phone. Att shouldn't have the imei in their system because its not supposed to work for att lol.

The general consensus is that only the international gnex's can use the unlimited att data plan. Some how att was able to recognize some gnex's bought from the play store (USA) and flag them as smartphones. There is another thread floating around either here or in the sgs3 forum that showed this.

What's this I keep hearing about people buying phones from the play store??? I've seen this all over. Also would this even apply to the photon? The photon is an American phone that can run on GSM but is locked out of domestic and will most likely never get unlocked for domestic GSM use. So would att log the imei as a smartphone?
Edit: we can use a hybrid radio made custom by a dev to allow domestic GSM but the radio used is from a Japanese phone

Can I purchase a version now that is compatible with US Verizon LTE?

Anyone know which version that I could purchase would be compatible with Verizon LTE and 3G bands here in the US?
With it looking like the note 2 will be released here in the states on the 24th I'd just wait
This space for rent!
The Verizon version... That's the version you have to get but have to wait till it comes out

Damn, I was hoping one of ones being sold on the US Ebay would already be compatible. I'd like to purchase it and sell my Galaxy Nexus before news of the new Nexus completely devalues it..
Additionally, the Verizon version is supposed to have a locked bootloader (isn't it?), so I'd like to get a different version so I can put custom roms on it. I may be completely wrong though, and if so, I hope someone corrects me.

So many International/unlocked versions.. which one is best for T-Mobile or ATT?

which version do i need to be looking for?
i want one that has a bootloader or unlockable bootloader, can be rooted . and obviously have all "LTE" bands of T-Mobile or AT&T... and i wont ask if it'll work with verizon since that still impossible to find something cdma overseas lol .
