could someone using the Galaxy Nexus on At&t do me a favor? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I'm not asking you to give me your galaxy nexus
but instead, I've been reading some posts in the Galaxy Note forum, where some of the At&t users have been getting blocked by At&t cus the notes shows up in the system as a galaxy tab.
so what some users did, was they backed up their /efs folders, and then empted the contents.

If you wipe the efs, you get the generic IMEI
Then run that generic Imei on theis site:

could someone try this on their Galaxy Nexus and see if they get similar results as this? I am currently contemplating on importing a Galaxy Nexus and I'd like a "backup plan" in case At&t starts blocking us
thats all! thanks!

I'm lazy. That being said, I used the Note and now the Nexus without any issues. This is on a grandfathered unlimited iPhone data plan as well...

You've got nothing to hide as long as your on the proper plan. I went to the Nexus from a Iphone 3gs(granfathered unlim. data) and walked into a corporate store with my Nexus and said
"hey i got this new phone and I new a SIM card for it & my plan provisioned for HSPA+" he said, great lemme see the phone and i'll get it switched right over. About 10 minutes later i walked out with a free new sim card and the proper plan and still contract free.

I'm a newbie at the changing sim game.
I too, am coming from a 3Gs on an unlimited plan and was under the impression that I can simply swap the sim from the 3Gs to the GNex and continue with my current plan.
Am I wrong and will I need to go to the Corp store for the swap.
thanks

The SIM in your iPhone is a micro SIM, so you will need to get a new SIM from the store for the Nexus.

the 3GS uses a normal sim card.. they started microsim with iPhone 4.

That's correct, the 3Gs has a full size sim. Will I be able to simply swap the sim to the GNex and continue service as normal?
thanks

Yes, you can swap it.

My GN worked simply swapping the sim over but I felt better going to the store and getting the correct plan on my account so i didn't run into any issues getting flagged or any other nonsense.

WARNING!
the /EFS backup process might no longer work in these new Samsung phones
the last few new models released, Samsung has dramatically changed the stuff in /EFS
meaning those are not the real files anymore, so that means the backups are useless as they are only 1k files (hard links) of real files mounted elsewhere
several guys are still trying to crack this but so far it has come up empty handed.

If the EFS backup process don't work anymore it must be a lot riskier to flash ROM now?
Any backup solution can backup the "elsewhere" files and the hard link?

Google Wallet Disabling Prepaid cards

As far as I know this only affects users who do not yet have a pre-paid card or are trying to re-add their pre-paid card after wiping their device (i.e. me). If your pre-paid card is already active you should not have any issues using it.
In my opinion this issue has been blown way out of proportion...
Oh I agree completely. Its still at least as secure as my actual wallet. In my case more so, as I have a pin on my phone, and of course GW too. Those along with Cerberus to find/wipe as needed I feel as safe as can be expected.
I'll try to use it today when I leave the gym. There's a CVS right next door that has Paypass.
The rumors I've been reading suggest that as long as you have funds remaining on your Prepaid Card you can continue to use it as usual - but I don't think the balance will update after a transaction due to the whole "cannot contact bank" message in your screenshot. When you need to top up the card (which you'll only know is out of funds when it gets declined, I suppose), you'll be out of luck.
Don't reset or you won't be able to add it back.. That's the boat im in now essentially breaks wallet for me now since I don't use citi... wish they would fix it already
According to Money Network support they are supposed to have this feature back up and working in the next day or two.
Yea I used it 2/9 and I had the transaction location along with the deduction from my prepaid amount available. It looks like this only affects new activations. Everything seems to be working fine for me.
If there is still a balance left on it then u can use the balance amount but u cannot add anymore funds to it.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I can confirm that I can still purchase things, the balance updates, and I can even see the last 4 of the prepaid card (user id).
Sent from my Verizon Galaxy Nexus
I can confirm that I can not purchase anything since I can't connect to the money network.. I have $28 loaded, still getting declined.
Not only is mine working again, I was just able to add funds to my card.
Still won't let me re-add my prepaid card...

I am in the same boat after flashing AOKP 23.
For this hack to even work, someone needs your phone. If my phone is lost or stolen, Google wallet would be the least of my concern. My saved passwords on my browser would be 100x worse than this hack

I've been hearing both here and from calling Money Network that it should be resolved by Friday or Monday. I don't know if you'll have to call to get your card reprovisioned (would make sense to me, since it's a "security" issue) or if it will just start working on its own.

Lumia 900 on iPhone Plan - Data Issues?

I went to a corporate store today to upgrade one of my lines to the Lumia 900, but walked away empty handed.
I was going to upgrade a line and get a micro-sim from my personal line to stick into the Lumia (I have a regular size sim), but the rep told me I would no longer get data on my iPhone if I wanted to switch back and forth between devices. He mentioned that this problem only exists with the iPhone, since it is technically on a different data plan than other devices AT&T carries.
This isn't a huge issue since my iPhone sits in a drawer and is nothing more than a glorified iPod Touch, but I would of course like to use it if the urge strikes me.
Does anyone know if this is true?
Don't quote me 100% but I 99.9% believe you will have to be provisioned on LTE data plan, and then you'll be able to swap SIM's with non-LTE phones. What the rep was telling you (I think) is that you can not use your existing iPhone data pln with LTE devices. Once your data plan provisioned to LTE you should be good to go.
you might have to exchange 4G sim card to get works.

Makes sense, but he told me it was not possible to use both the Lumia and the iPhone. In his defense, he even asked another associate and they said the exact same thing.
So, if I were to switch over to an LTE plan, would I be able to simply pop my SIM back into my iPhone if I were to use it?

You know what, I have a coworker with a 4S I can plug my micro SD in to his iPhone and see what happens.
EDIT:
So we tested his phone, it was a 4 not 4s that takes a micro sim and I put my Lumia Micro sim in his iPhone 4 and he was able to pull up web pages.
I did not Send an SMS but the phone was happy, showed 3G service and was browsing pages and he made a quick test call.
Didn't think about texts till now and hes out of the office.
Tested it and it's working. Swapped back and forth, texted, called, and even did some facetime. Time for the iPhone to hit the junk drawer for another month or so.
Thanks for all of the replies, everyone. Answered my question perfectly.

Can Sprint update their SGS3 to have global roaming like VZW will do?

I just bought a Photon, which I only did because it is an international capable phone. I know Verizon is going to unlock global roaming, and they're CDMA like Sprint. Is the hardware inside the devices the same? Would it theoretically be possible that Sprint could issue a software update to add global roaming capabilities to their Galaxy SIII? I'm considering replacing the Photon because of the lack of real 4G, and mainly, the lack of SVDO. Part of the reason I have the internet on my phone is so I can get the email or notification right there and then, and if I'm talking to someone, I wanna be able to look something up, especially if it involves school or work. But I want a phone I can go abroad with too, and the Moto Admiral, the iPhone, or BB is no option
And if not, does Sprint really think they can revive their brand if going around the world means not having a phone? Have they not learned lessons from Verizon and ATT's success? Why be late on all three SVDO, LTE, and people travelling with their phones, especially such expensive and premium phones? I, for one, will be more likely to stay with Sprint, which I'm with at the moment because I'm young and don't have a ton of financial resources yet, if I don't always have to worry about renting a phone or having a dumb phone abroad, especially bc smartphones are great for strangers in strange lands.
so I called up Sprint today and the guy told me that it if Sprint wanted to, they COULD issue us an update to have international roaming on the GS3
the answer is no. it's physically impossible, because the Sprint SGS3 has an embedded SIM card for its LTE. meaning you cannot swap SIMs in it. no way around this.
sprint on left, att/tmo/uscc/vzw variant (this one is att) on right:

you don't have to swap SIMs for international ROAMING, so that makes sense, but this does mean it would be hard to use a prepaid SIM card, which is a **** of a lot more convenient. Plus, it probably wouldn't be hard to mod the plastic, or go online, order the part of the back with the screws and SIM-card slot version, which I might do

It would make perfect sense for Sprint to enable this; us galaxy owners could go overseas, they'd get the high roaming rates, and they wouldn't risk losing customers who wanna travel. I still might save my Photon to swap SIMs. If Sprint doesn't enable it, they are idiots.

Anyone with Unlimited Data get a Certified Like New Replacement?

So I am a little hesitant about activating the replacement device I received today...I got my Nexus before they switched to the shared data and was told I can keep it until I activate another 4G phone. I am wondering if their automated systems will treat this device as a new phone considering its got a different serial and all. Has anyone went through this recently?

Can't you just pop your sim in and go?
This is my first 4G device with a sim so I wasnt quite sure how exactly it will work out and calling Verizon didnt help at all the two ladies I talked to couldnt grasp the question I was asking with one telling me that as long as the Unlimited Data is on my account i'll never lose it...Figured I was much better coming here instead

I have unlimited data on VZW, and I had an LG Revolution, granted this example is before the shared data BS, I just bought a used GNexus off ebay about 2 months ago. I just walked into the store, said I need to get a micro SIM (REVO used full size SIM), they got me a new micro SIM, even activated it for me, and I specifically said I want to make sure my plan does not change and she said of course not, and it did not.
You should only loose it if you buy a new phone from them and then re-up your contract.
From this point forward pretty much all VZW customers with unlimited plans need to buy phones from other sources than VZW.

This is true. You will only lose your unlimited if you use a subsidy or do a transfer of liability.
Thanks guys it went off without a hitch and when i checked with *#*#RTN#*#* i was surprised to find that this phone has not been reconditioned...So I am assuming its new which is nice...Its a v.9 though while my previous one was a .10. Note 2 takes a normal SIM card ot not?

I have made my Note 2 preorder in Expansys Pro, but now I remembered one important detail for me, can I use the Sim card from my Note 1 or do I have to order a new one because of the 4G or because of the size of the SIM card.
I read somewere that the Note 2 will have micro SIM card, but I also read that it will have a normal SIM card, that's why i'm confused.
Thanks
I sure hope for a normal size, there's enough space in the device.
microSIM guys. Regular miniSIMs are a dying breed. Most phones are moving to microSIM and even the newer nanoSIM (next iPhone.)

You realize they make SIM cutters, right? As long as your contact patch comes out unscathed when you cut it, it should be good to go.

Att should allow you to sim swap your note sim for a microsim. It sucks that we can't then go back and forth between phones though. I guess we can use adapters, although I recall the note doesn't play nice enough with some of them.

http://tecnologia.uol.com.br/mundo-...ra-o-ipad-3g-pode-inutilizar-dispositivo.jhtm
I tried w/ a old SIM and work. I cutted it w/ a scissors.
I cut loads of Sim's at work, haven't had one fail from it yet.
Just use one of these:
I just phoned my Operator (TMN Portugal) and they say I can order from them one microsim to replace my old one for free.
I don't have to pay nothing for the micro SIM, so I think I will order one for me.
