Note 2 takes a normal SIM card ot not? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have made my Note 2 preorder in Expansys Pro, but now I remembered one important detail for me, can I use the Sim card from my Note 1 or do I have to order a new one because of the 4G or because of the size of the SIM card.
I read somewere that the Note 2 will have micro SIM card, but I also read that it will have a normal SIM card, that's why i'm confused.
Thanks

I sure hope for a normal size, there's enough space in the device.

microSIM guys. Regular miniSIMs are a dying breed. Most phones are moving to microSIM and even the newer nanoSIM (next iPhone.)

Thanks. I Think its time To change my old SIM card.

Thanks Guys this good to know:good:

Durn... I'm in the same boat. Preordered from MobileCity with plans to use SIM from Note1. I guess now I need to find a cheap phone with a microsim, since ATT doesnt do well with phones qith unrecognized imeis. Bummer.

You realize they make SIM cutters, right? As long as your contact patch comes out unscathed when you cut it, it should be good to go.

Att should allow you to sim swap your note sim for a microsim. It sucks that we can't then go back and forth between phones though. I guess we can use adapters, although I recall the note doesn't play nice enough with some of them.

Not change the SIM. Make this:
http://tecnologia.uol.com.br/mundo-...ra-o-ipad-3g-pode-inutilizar-dispositivo.jhtm
I tried w/ a old SIM and work. I cutted it w/ a scissors.

I cut loads of Sim's at work, haven't had one fail from it yet.
Just use one of these:

I just phoned my Operator (TMN Portugal) and they say I can order from them one microsim to replace my old one for free.
I don't have to pay nothing for the micro SIM, so I think I will order one for me.

Galaxy Nexus..some type of sim cards not detected....

Hi guys,
I have my new Galaxy Nexus unbranded, here in Costa Rica we have some carriers, the main one ICE (Green frog), and others like, claro, movistar, tuyo movil, the thing is the nexus does not recognize the main carrier sim card but if you try with tUYO sim card it works great.
I attached the picture of both sim cards.
I really appreciated any help or suggestions.

The one on the left looks like the normal one based on the chip position. The one on the right looks odd, may be a very old sim? Can't you exchange for a newer sim and try?

I'm having the same kind of issue, I've already unlocked the boot loader, rooted and reset everything on the phone and only one type of SIM card is read, I've tried 3 different SIMs and only one seems to work, none of my postpaid lines will work either, it seems that only that particular pattern will read on the Galaxy Nexus, has anyone else had this issue?
This is not an issue with the Gnex....it is with the sim cards.....there is a plenty of phones (even cheap ones) that don't read some sim cards witch have a specific scheme ......i have some experience with that.......
Plus....the Gnex with 4.0.1 doesn't read sim cards with a pin lock....it's a bug......
looks like the sim cards are not the same as the "main stream" or most common sim cards. i reccomend trying a sim card were the chip is like most others.

mines read my sim card on 4.0.1 and same with my wife 4.0.1, both pin locked.
Thanks for the replies, but the weird thing is, among the SIMs that don't work the one on the end of the photo I just posted is the same pattern as the one that works. So if I understand this correctly, unless my carrier uses the exact same SIM for postpaid lines as the prepaid one that works, I have no hope of using my unlimited Data plan with my GNex?
Does this also mean that even if the SIM will work on an HTC Flyer, iPad, iPhone & Huawei E5 Modem, and it doesn't work on the GNex, it's still the SIM card at fault? I'm really having a hard time wrapping my head around this.

Have you tried getting a fresh replacement sim from your carrier(s)? All those sims look pretty old to me.
Except for the cut Micro-SIM, all of those are brand new

Carrier has no alts? Over here they do, and tbh, I haven't seen sims in those designs (apart from the cut one) in quite a few years. They look like 2004~ sims (at least thats when they looked like that over here)
Our Telcos are terribly inconsistent with regards to their SIM cards, the newest one in the bunch is in between the cut SIM and the OK SIM, I just find it irritating that I can't use my Main SIM card with the GNex, for now I'm stuck with the prepaid one that's OK.

[Q] [SOLVED] Possibly damaged SIM slot?

In my Galaxy S4 mini's whole lifetime only twice has a micro sim been inserted. The first time I inserted a SIM card inside there, it worked immediatelly without any problems as soon as I powered on the phone (the sim card was cut from a normal one manually by me).
Then I left the phone unused without a SIM inside it for about 2 weeks and just today I tried to put back the same SIM card and the phone always displays "No SIM". Tried taking it on and off like a thousand times but still no effect.
The card is working on another phone but with an adapter as I don't have another phone that uses only Micro-SIM so I can't really test.
Any ideas?
EDIT:
Here is an image of what the SIM looks like and how it is inserted. I would greatly appreciate if someone from here checks the exact form and placement of theirs and compare it to this image:

Are you saying it could be possible that I just cut the SIM card badly? I'm planning on heading to the store and asking for an original Micro-SIM from my carrier but I'm afraid that might not be the solution and it would be a waste of money.
Yes, I would try it

Problem is, all of my friends use normal SIM.
I just watched a video how a person types a hidden code into the dialer which takes him to an advanced service mode and from there after choosing some options, the "No SIM" error immediatelly disappears even without the need of a reboot. I believe he reset the modem or something.
I thought it was a firmware related issue but that might not be the case also as I flashed two different firmwares (both for my region) with Odin and it's still the same.
Is it normal that the center pin is a bit down than the left and right one?
There was previously a user who broke one of the sim card reader clips. It could be possible?

Yep it turned out that was the case, no firmware issues or anything of the sort. Luckaly mine wasn't actually broken but it just somehow went into the bottom too much. I used a small needle and tweaked it a bit hoping to push it back up and achieved it without breaking it.
Now it reads my cut Micro SIM just fine. :victory:

Scary that those pins can bend so easily.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
I've just had the same problem on my mom's S4 mini: central pin lower than the other two. Bending it up a bit solved the problem.
In fact on other S4 minis the three pins are level.
Cheers

Are people confusing a sim slot for micro sd?

I saw some photos of the G3 without the back on a Tmo version. The article mentioned that as a micro sd, but the card in the slot was Tmo branded and looked more like a sim card (there was no other slot). The last model did not have a micro sd slot for most regions, so would seem a surprise if this had one.
Not seen an LG spec mentioning a micro sd slot for specific regions.

On the latest pictures leaked it literally says MicroSD. It's just above the SIM card slot.

It's a bit faint but it clearly has the Micro SD logo right above the SIM/SD card slot.

Have you guys not seen the note 3 setup?

The SIM+memory card combo slots look like Note 3.
Okay, now I get it. Wonder if Verizon will offer the 32gb version...
I really hope it's spring loaded. Not that it's that big of a deal but the non-spring loaded design on the Note 3 has bugged me since I got the phone, not that I remove the SD card frequently or anything.
Pretty sure the SD card and SIM will be "stacked", like in the S5. The SIM on bottom and the SD on top, less area taken up this way.

watta hack?? is it a common issue?? i m also having same problem...micro sim card not working...but if i put a nano sim card with a extra adapter it works,,,any solution??
no solutions i suppose... does anyone know if AT&T will give you a different size sim (in this case nano instead of micro) if this indeed fixes the problem?
Sim port gone
I had this same complaint. I was using nano SIM with adaptor and then tried with micro SIM and it was not working.
I went to service centre and they examined the phone and they said the SIM port has widened due to the adaptor.
I got full board replacement since it was under warranty.
It worked with Micro SIM, but not with a Nano SIM in a Micro adaptor. I put a sticky tape on the back of the Nano SIM in the adaptor and it is working since a day.

Will be DualSim?

I own a Nexus 5 and I'm currently on the fence regarding the Nexus 5X, but dual sim would mean insta-buy for me. I currently carry my Nexus 5 and another low-end Android while I'm at work, but I use that other phone only for receiving calls and making calls to other corporate phones, so it would mean carrying just one phone. Sadly I doubt it will be dual sim.
dual sim is pretty cool but definitely isn't something most users would use, even power users IMO.
somehow beneficial ... but i dont see this as an option... for now..
I will buy any Nexus phone come with dual sim support. I'm not happy with how Samsung update their phones, especialy dual sim variant

Dual SIM is pretty handy for those who vacation or have a second home in another country or another state. I live in London UK and we have a vacation home in France . A French SIM is essential for local French people who want o call us and don't want an international call. I bought a Moto G just for that but would like to go back to Nexus next time.

I saw a dual sim tray in a youtube review of Nexus 6P made by "Rozetked"(Russian blogger).
