Multitouch Problems - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello I just got my nexus yesterday and know when I have tried it for a while I notice that the touch is very bad anyone else have experienced this?
Look at video: lol I haven’t made 8 posts so can’t post the video here
It is not only in the app in the video, noticed it when I was playing games really annoying. The weird thing is that sometimes it works as it should and then after a while it becomes like this

Just did a quick review on youtube and it seems that multitouch sucks. While it can handle up to 10, it seems they wig out.
On the Nexus One, it had problems when the axis crossed paths. The Nexus One problems restricted lots of gameplay because of this. While I'm not a heavy gamer, I do download and try games pretty often.

You can test the multitouch with "antutu tester" in the market

Supposedly its just from programs that aren't updated properly to ICS. I read some apps properly register inputs but some flak out. So perhaps a kernel fix or time. Puts me at ease.

Games on the Galaxy Nexus [VIDEO]

It handles quite good and the phone didn't get that hot.
Hah.. It's not about me it's about you and showing you these games.

looks smooth - well impressed
now get a list of the best games and apps together
really really good
All I'm worried about is that the next gen games won't work well with the Galaxy Nexus. These games look great, but with Apple and other companies (e.g Samsung) pushing mobile gaming, and the new mobile GPU's that are coming out, ours is already obsoleted and probably won't be good enough to play a lot of games in the future

From what I've seen, gaming on the "higher end" phones simply just add useless eye candy and don't effect overall game play at all. I love eye candy, don't get me wrong, but I don't fear that we'll be left out in the cold.
With Quad-Core not even out yet, I don't think we'll be seeing anything that requires a "Quad-Core or higher" for a long time.
I also just noticed how the software buttons rotate depending on orientation. Life's simple joy!
Forgive me for not being so knowledgeable on technology, but I would be mistaken in thinking that even if Quad-Core is released, most phones won't even be able to utilise it properly for a good year or two? And by the time they are put to good use, all our Galaxy Nexus contracts will be up and we'll be eligible for an upgrade and we'll be hopping on the newest Nexus?
So quad-core doesn't even matter for a while even if they are being released next year?
Back on topic the phone looks insanely smooth, even when you had all them games open it was silky! I'm loving it a lot, getting it tomorrow
could you test the kairosoft games? like game dev story and the others?
on honeycomb if you used mulittouch zooming all their apps crashed. kinda worried it may be the same with the GNex.
The screen is good but until the games are updated 'proper' we will not know how good performance can really be.
The screen is really good.
I read on another thread that Gameloft games will not work on the Nexus, is that true?
Edit: Nevermind, I just saw the video and he plays 9mm

Exactly my thoughts. For example on mine Plants v. Zombies looks great and works great for a few minutes, then freezes when under heavy load (i.e. "Final Wave" pushes). It can't be the GPU or memory issues because other (just as graphically heavy- if not more so) games (like Tiki Golf 2) are perfect.
I just want to clarify how good that first game is?
Check out the Verge's Transformer Prime review http://www.theverge.com/2011/12/1/2601558/asus-eee-pad-transformer-prime-review
They play the game and attach it to a 52" HD screen!

N64oid laggy

Anybody notice that N64oid runs slightly laggy on the One X? It was smoother on my Desire HD
I'm playing Zelda on my phone, and its running very smooth.
Don't get me wrong the games work pretty much full speed but every few seconds the game will jerk and slowdown slightly, I've noticed this on both Mario 64 and Goldeneye. I shall have to try some other games too
I can confirm that games such as Mario Kart and Mario 64 have slight lag spikes, but I really have no other material to compare this to. So I can't say if performance is worse or better than, say, an SII.
Ah that's ok, I thought it was me. Must be a Tegra 3 thing, hopefully they'll fix it soon enough. Both Mario games were fine on my old Desire HD. Ah well at least the emulator works haha

I suspect the emulator isn't even multi-threaded, so there is a big room for improvement.
I hope the developer implements it, Goldeneye would be perfect with a slight speed increase
Cheers for testing anyway guys, I'm glad it wasn't just me
I don't know what you were running on your DHD, but when I had the Galaxy Nexus it would do the same thing, so I'm thinking it might have something to do with ICS. Then again, if you're playing in full screen mode and such, there are many more pixels to push when emulating as well.
Same little lags here. Strange because it ran perfectly smoothly on my Prime on ICS (video demo at my youtube channel). Runs worse than the SGSII or Galaxy Note.
On my DHD I was running virtuous affinity (gingerbread)
I am guessing its caused either by ICS or the emu being optimized for single core (most likely)

Can I ask you guys how you connect to play you N64oids? Virtual keys i guess some use but there must be a way to connect via USB or bluetooth, imagine having all that set-up via Media Link HD
Thats one thing I wanna do, play Zelda on my screen with a remote via the HTC on the TV
I use the touchscreen personally, it works ok I guess. I believe you can get a bluetooth game controller for android though or use a Wii remote

Cool, reason I ask is because it would be really cool to play N64oid and use a remote via Bluetooth or USB OTG while having Media Link connected to a nice HD TV
Its the games themselves which cause the issue remember emulation is not always 100 %
U can grab a ps3 controller and use that

must be the screen resolution which is around double that of the desire.
Sorry to break it to you guys, but I'm pretty sure it's the phone. I'm using the exact same ROMs, which run perfectly on my Prime, and my Note. That suggests it is neither the ROMs, nor the resolution. A bit baffling considering the hardware in the Prime is near identical. Others are noticing gaming performance doesn't appear to be living up to expectations, so makes me think it is something in HTCs implementation (I recall similar problems with the Sensation at release).
In relation to the gaming setup you're talking about above, it's sweet - here are some demos of me running a similar setup with other devices:
Probably ICS, many apps need configuring.
If you experience some annoying hiccups during emulation, just go to engine settings and set the maximum frame skip to 0, it's 3 by default.

When I open the game in Nexus 7, it showed circle. For a moment time, it shows network error dialog.
Error message: "network error has occurred. Would you like to try again?"
Failure video from Nexus 7: youtube.com/watch?v=EmfUtrcHkUA
After I launch Asphalt 7 for 100 times, I can play this game.
Maybe this issue is based on Wifi speed.
Anyone can help me?
Well, I think the game runs very poorly.
Both on Nexus 7 & HTC ONE X
if you play Real racing 2 & then this, there is no competition in frame rates.

Just played a tiny bit of the tutorial level and I feel that there are issues with the frame rate as well. It's a bit laggy and feels unoptimised. So far I have tried restarting the N7 and only played a small bit of the tutorial stage, but you notice pretty quickly that there are even areas of the menu screen which feel pretty slow as well.
*Edit - Having played through the entire tutorial stage, it appears that the problems may be attributed to no being properly optimised, as there are parts of the game that will speed up really fast all of a sudden, then get laggy again. This includes if you car gets wrecked, or if you perform a knockdown, the game appears to momentarily reach 60fps. Also once you cross the finish line, the game shoes your car moving from a front-angle moving at 60fps with no problems. Maybe the game will be different further in, but the graphics are really nice.
I was down to 1.18 on my credit and I wake up to this thread XD. Thanks for the heads up, I'm downloading now and will report back when it's done.
It only took a month after they said they would release

Yep, its laggy hell. :'(
The only time it goes smooth is when you finish the race, it suddenly jumps to a smooth 60fps.
I can't believe some people are stating this game is smooth on the Nexus 7 when its 'sooooo far' from being smooth.
The game is only just playable, maybe these people don't recognise what it should play like.

Is there a way to change to the game file directory to save them to say a USB flash drive using a OTG cable, to store the game files instead of internal storage?
Not just this game but any game/app??

Modern Combat 5 is out

Game seems pretty cool so far but it tries to connect online at every mission start. It's also a bit choppy and the graphics seems pixelated. Hopefully there will be an update to fix the 2 issues I'm having.

[Q] Does Root + Debloat Resolve Performance Issues?

I just got my Galaxy Tab S 8.4 from Amazon and I'm already having issues with it
I play Simpsons Tapped Out and this game ran without any lag on my 2012 Nexus 7. However, when I load up the game on the Galaxy Tab S 8.4, I am having major lag while trying to pan around the town and even while trying to tap the buildings to collect money. I imagine Tapped Out is an incredibly casual and lightweight game(resource wise), so it makes me worried about how 'real' games will perform on the device.
My question is, if I root and debloat the tablet, will this improve performance on the tablet? Or is this the kind of performance that I can expect from the Exynos tablets?
I found this thread, and I was going to follow those instructions to debloat it with titanium backup(I assume I can use that to debloat it). Has anyone tried this and noticed an increase in performance?
Thanks in advance for anyone who can help
As a follow up. I just went through and rooted the tablet, froze all that bloat and it's still performing like garbage in Simpsons Tapped Out. How is this possible that the Exynos chip isn't as good as a 2 year old tablet? Is it the QHD display? Is it TouchWiz that's causing it?
Out of all the reviews I looked at, none talked about this type of lag. This Simpsons game can't be that graphic intensive. Why is it stuttering so badly when I pan around the town?

May just be that that game is confused by the Exynos 8 core cpu. The device clearly has the power to run a simple game like that. In short, I think it may be the game and not the tablet.
One other idea. Try running Nova Launcher. But other users have had the same issue as you with that particular game.

That is really sad to hear. I can't get Family Guy working properly on the tablet and now this Besides watching content when I'm in bed, this is all I use the tablet for. It's making it really hard to format my 2012 Nexus 7 so I can give it to my father.
I'm curious if it's the CPU or the GPU that the game is having an issue with. I have had my eye on this forum lately and am getting excited that the CyanogenMod ROM might be the solution to my issue with these casual games. Positive thoughts :fingers-crossed:
Thanks for your input. I will say that it handles my 1080p content from my Drobo with BS Player flawlessly. So at least there's something

I've loaded up a few games under my current cm ROM and they have all played flawlessly. Though I haven't tried the games you mentioned, and I'm married a month away from having a baby so I'm a bit too broke to buy something I'm not going to play.
Tonight there should be a ROM with sound working if you want to give it a go.

Both Simpsons Tapped Out and Family Guy Quest for Stuff are free to play games.
I have been keeping an eye on your CyanogenMod thread. I have never used it for more than a day on my Nexus 5 before, but I'm excited to try it out on my Tab S 8.4
Clash of clans works great! Try it. It's crazy addicting
I installed Simpsons on my S 8.4, it seems to be running smooth for me. But I only started the game and my city is pretty basic at the moment, maybe performance issues start with a larger city ?

I wouldn't say I have a huge city, I'm only level 17. Nothing like my level 40 city in Family Guy. But I have a dozen or so characters unlocked in Simpsons. I can log out of my account and play as a guest I think to test on a starter city.
well, it wont' connect to the server now :/ but I will test it when I can
There have been reports of issues with this game on the other galaxy tablet forums as well. Since this tablet is fully capable of running even more complex games I would focus on the software as the issue. I'm not sure if these issues have been relayed to the developer but that would a great start to a resolution.

Back to the initial topic: Debloating can eliminate some of the background services that consume processing power. But it would surprise me if this would result in any relevant speedup (on an Octacore).
Other than that, probably the color adaption+enhancement thing does cost some performance (and battery).
And Mali T628 drivers might not be optimized.

It plays perfectly fine on my 2012 Nexus 7. There has been a swarm of lag complaints about it on blogs dedicated to the game. So maybe it's on their end
We now have some excellent rom's in development which should improve your experience.

i loaded a new game and it ran ok until I got about 3 or 4 people on the screen. i see different lag spots. one happens when it first loads people's animations. so even if i scroll away, when i come back it seems to load those animations again. another lag spot i see is when i try to tap on a building to activate the money or finish the person's task. when the money bounces out of the building, i see lag spikes here. they don't go completely away after i collect the money, but shortly after
the family guy from the amazon store plays fine and doesn't have this lag. i also read on some dedicated simpsons tapped out blogs that EA is aware of a lag issue. however, im not entirely sure if i am getting the same lag they are confirming. we will see though.
