Does anybody have dreams of their phone?

Last night I had a dream I was playing with my phone but it was all melted looking but still functional. I've had other dreams where im trying to talk to someone, I can hear a voice but can never understand what they're saying. Anybody have weird dreams that are phone related?

I see that you started an entire new thread to discuss the exact same subject that already had a thread on the pretense of providing a different link that you could have shared in that one. Is that what you "did" or am I missing something more subtle and clever?

One op already changed his title. Ill edit it make another discussion I wanted to start anyway.

Clearly all chips in relation must transfer all diodes in harmony.

I dream about getting laid on piles of money. If my phone jumped in there and tried to distract me....I would have to end its life.

Does stuffing them in a sock and beating Dan Hesse till he fixes data speeds count?
Los Angeles data speeds 130k down, barely measurable up? I get better speeds in Tijuana. That is putting ice sculptures in the McDonald's bathroom.

I would actually be interested in a kid friendly rom because I'm planning to get my baby sister an android phone soon. Probably not a gs2 though, lol... so a kid friendly rom for this phone wouldn't do me much good.

Try kid mode in the market. It's free and very good.

everything is pretty much kid friendly, its what you get from the market thats not. only thing is theming it..

I was thinking about this the other day. On computers not phones. I think what you gotta do is have a keylogger and the balls to confront the little ones about naughty or dangerous surfing.

Like I said earlier try kid mode from the market. It's kind of a launcher in a way. You set it up so that your kid only has access to certain apps. They can't make calls can't even run the browser unless you allow it. I have it on my phone and I love it.

I was just looking for exactly that. For those that are wondering why a kid would need a smartphone etc., it's not the point. They wouldn't be using it as a smartphone. I have an old SGS1 that I don't see why I couldn't repurpose as a media-player device + for my daughter. An ipod would do the trick but 1) this thing would kick the pants off any ipod I've seen so far capabilities wise (16GB built in, microSD slot up to 32GB, bigger higher resolution screen, play whatever media format you put in it, etc.) and with voodoo sound even the sound quality is better, 2) it's not made by Apple, and 3) I've already got it. I will try the kid mode launcher another poster mentioned below but I think there could be a market for this judging by the amount of kiddie tablets etc. that are on the market now and way cheaper if you already have a device or can pick one up used. Will post back after trying the kid mode deal.

Sounds interesting. Maybe one that is baby proof. So that they can't mess things up like send unwanted messages or delete stuff or make calls. Not so I don't have to watch them but so that I don't have to keep taking it from them

Nova will accomplish all this stuff, or other apps. You just hide apps you don't want them using. Like market, system apps... Etc. The only issue would be browser. But I'm sure that could be dealt with also. And yeah.... If they are sharing the parents phone... What good would a safety rom be when I need my phone. And if it's their phone... It's simple to kid proof. My 5 year old has an s2 we didn't need anymore. It has Netflix, some games, some videos on it.... And just about every thing else is hidden. Never had an issue with her getting into things she shouldn't. As far as games that can lead you to market and purchases.... There's a password for purchases and generally I just get rid of those games.
Anyway.... No, the kids rom would never be made.... But really, once you kid proof your device... That's basically what you have. So there's no point.

Well HOX, its been a great 2 weeks..

..but you're being replaced by the Droid Pro+, a slower, uglier, bulkier phone with a low rez screen.
Even by looking at the picture, you can see how horrible the screen on the Pro is compared to the HOX but that doesnt matter. I need my phone to reply back to texts, jot down notes, and input things in my calendar and i feel that the best, and quickest way to do this would be on a phone with physical keys. Oh and it feels great to have my four menu keys back.
I dont know what it is but i just couldnt get use to the on screen keyboard. Even using different keyboards(swiftkeys, ics keyboard, thumb keyboard, etc) i just found it really frustrating. I still think the iphone has by far the best onscreen keyboard.
Anyways, im not entirely putting the HOX out of comission, I still might use it as a weekend phone but as my daily driver, I'll be using the Pro+ until Motorola releases a better version.
Oh and one more thing..I've been a Treo user for the longest time so I just think I'm just bias towards phones with physical keyboards haha

Swype is much better than the iphone keyboard

After going from Sony Ericsson P900 to htc tytn ii to htc touch pro, I didn't think I could ever go without physical keyboard. I was wrong. Once you get used to it, an onscreen keyboard is much faster and definitely more productive because of it.

Im not bashing the phone in anyway, im simply saying that its not for me as a daily driver. It an awesome phone and its a beautiful built phone but as a daily driver, its not ideal for me.

My wife had the same issue when she went from a real keyboard to an on-screen one.
However, after trying various different one we have settled on Swiftkey 3 beta and now she would never go back.
Give it a little longer and you will see the benefits, hopefully.

Have you tried the keyboard on the 9900? It is heads and tails above any other keyboard I have used the this swift key is the second best.

I suppose what you just said would make sense in a socks thread and cereal thread but this is a phone forum, hence why we're talking about phones.
I stated that this phone was hard for me to adjust to and so far, a few people have actually recommended certain keyboards to try out. They're actually being pretty helpful come to think of it.
You know what? You best just mossy on if you have nothing informative to say lol

I think you missed the part where i said i needed something that would allow me to type quickly and jot down notes, everyone else seemed to give me some input, some alternatives and even some keyboards to try for my one x and your the only one complaining about my thread..but yes, you best me on your way unless you have something useful to say.
Anyways.. ill give swype a try.. i had tried it on my HTC Evo a while ago but i wasnt a big fan of it, hopefully theyve worked out the kinks. Thanks for the feedback people, maybe I wont put the Hox down after all lol

No, because this is the XDA Developers forum, not Facebook. These forums are for interesting topics that are informative and useful, not someone's personal opinion about whether a physical keyboard is better than a software one. This forum is for that.
I don't mean to cause offence, but there are A LOT of these kind of threads.

And... You specified that even with 3rd party keyboards you were not happy so why would I suggest keyboards?
This thread was simply you trolling. I know it, you know it, even the people who were politely making suggestions probably knew it. What kind souls with such humility. Not me, I call it as I see it.

Yet again another pointless thread that will be closed by the mods.
If I don't like anything about ANY phone I have I don't broadcast it to the nation I try and find a solution to the problem. If I can't find one I'll live with it. No doubt there are things you don't like on your replacement, are you gonna broadcast to the world again and get another phone?

Requested by reviewers, I figured I'd post it in the open as well in case anybody else needs the file.
File is large (657MB) and contains all system files for the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy SIII (T-999). I've compressed it (BEST setting), I believe the actual file size is 994MB, to try and make the download/upload a bit less harsh.​

Is there a way to see the actual progress of a dropbox upload?
Since the file is so large, it required I use the desktop feature. I dropped it in the dropbox folder on my PC and it started syncing (toolbar icon shows upload speed and current time....but it has said 1hr since I started. The speed keeps moving, so I know it's working, but it has been over an hour since I started).
I'm wondering if it was closer to 2hr.
Sorry it's taking so long guys.
EDIT- As SOON as I posted this, my toolbar icon displays 59 minutes lol. It's getting there!

I don't know him at all, or probably anyone in this portion of the community. He asked me for the file, otherwise I would have had no clue it was even valuable to anyone. I felt since he asked for me to keep it exclusive for the time being, it would be fair to do so, but only for this weekend.

No worries its not against any rules but "reviewers" was very infamous in the amaze forums with not knowing how to do any development and just kanging work, but hey everyone gets a fresh start......so they say

Yeah, after getting several PMs about the situation, I'm going to return the link to the page.
It appears (from what I'm getting) that he was upset he did not get the phone yet and was trying to gain access to building a ROM before anyone else.
This is an open community and the more development opportunities, the better

False, I never not produce anything that's "not functional" so relax besides 1 thing we're calling was glitched. It was passed then get over it. I learned much since then.

I just switched over from the Tmo SGS2 (samsung is fixing it)
I bought my Galaxy Nexus unlocked from the play store.
So far so good

I try to show my friends but they just don't get it lol.
No doubt if you like to do what you want, nexus is for you.

And the best part? They all work. No half crippled ports. That's why the ones in the know go Nexus. And if you didn't learn yet, the kernels are all compatible. Doesn't matter if it's in the CDMA Gnex forum or GSM. ROMs, of course, are specific.

Are you kidding me?? The kernels are all compatible? Thats truly amazing.
I can't even begin to imgine all the kernels being compatible for all of the SGS2s!
Definetly learned my lesson and buying straight from google. Hardware might not be up to date, but it seems like the software hasnt caught up to it yet to take full advantage of it.
Best decision ive ever made.
Now time to buy a case and an extended battery

Plus, on screen buttons are the shiznit! You can find mods or themes to change how they look and which ones appear and can even install apps or ROMs that will allow you to hide them completely. Which is awesome when playing games. I was really disappointed that both the new Evo and GS3 still used old style capacitive buttons.

Well I thought I read something that Google wanted every single phone to have the software buttons instead of the hardware becasue it made everything easier for everyone. I guess companys didnt follow their advice!
But I will have to check out the themes for the buttons

Oh okay, that could either be good or bad.
IMHO because the phones wont have personalities.
But then again its good so everyone can spend less time porting and more time Dev'ing

After coming from my locked up Droid X, its great to be able to easily flash roms, kernels, etc. I love this phone

I came from the TMO SGS2 also, and that forum was absolutely terrible. The community was so bad that I just gave up. Especially that Melvin "dev" and his "dev" crew that needed to be put in their place by Team Kang. Boy were those good times.

Definetly needed to get away from all that Drama. It seemed like an all girls school..
On this forums, the only drama I see is people complaining becasue they flashed the wrong ROM becasue it doesnt say GSM or CDMA on the titles LOL
I think its pretty funny..

You should see the forum for the Atrix 2. Dev support is almost non-existent. I'm never buying a phone that isn't a nexus anymore. I enjoy tinkering too much and this where Dev support is at.

Yeh, all those ROMs, kernels, and mods in the dev section are just too confusing. I've been meaning to complain about it.

I came from a T- Mo G2x that rebooted more than it stayed on. Tried ROMs, kernels, mods, all to no avail.
The Nexus just WORKS, and customization and developers are awesome! Plus, no more being tied to a contract.

My first experience with modding was with the sidekick 4g...my. god. What. A. Mess. Seriously the worst phone ive ever owned and i made such a huge error not looking more into it before i got it.
Then i had an Amaze. Which i love still particularly for its outstanding camera. BUT...HTC really dropped the ball and dont want to help the devs at all because of issues with proprietary drives. Its such a shame because that device is quite good. But i started looking at the pure, AOSP awesomeness of the Nexus forlorningly and i finally made the jump...the only way ill get rid of this device is to buy the next Nexus!
