USB Mount Cable - doesn't work, can I modify? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi,
I bought a cheap USB OTG cable (£2), which was supposed to work on the Galaxy Nexus, but doesn't seem to.
I will probably buy another one anyway (any recommendations which one I should buy, and where), but I just wondered if there was anyway I could modify the one I have to work with a USB drive?
Cheers
Stewart

ebay seller iTrimming sells a working OTG host cable for GNex.

Sorry, should have said before. I have tried StickMount - no go! The stick doesn't even light up when connected.
And I would prefer a UK seller! Thanks though!!

Ordered one from iTrimming!
Hopefully should work ok!

MHL to HDMI adapter

This adapter by Samsung is originally for the Galaxy II but it will work on the Note as well, right?
I'm thinking of getting it and just want to check if anyone else has used it.
Yes it will.

Nice one, they even ship outside UK. That is usually the problem when buying from Amazon.co.uk. Never know if you'll be able to get it until check out time.
While I'm at it, is it a good idea to also get an OTG USB host converter?
What could I use it for?

I need a USB OTG(on-the-go)Host Cable

Hi Guys I like to find a USB OTG (on-the-go) cable to be able to connect all this stuff(for example External Hard Disks,Key Boards, ect.) into the Galaxy Note or any other USB host Samsung Galaxy Device(like my Galaxy S3)Please I need recomendations I do a search don't find to mush for the G Note just for the Motorola Xoom I plan to read that also to see can work

Just get one off eBay. Theyre like 1 dollar. Every OTG Cable will work. You wont need a specific one for the Note.

Best way to Transfer Files to Galaxy Nexus on the Road

Hi,
I am considering buying a Galaxy Nexus from Google. I understand that it has limited memory 16 GB and no SD card slot. I am considering taking this phone with me on the road. (By this I mean traveling by car – as against air travel where you get a chance to use the Wi-Fi in airports.)
What is the cheapest alternative to take/transfer additional data to the GN which would be in the range of 8GB to 16GB? For e.g. one way would be to take my Windows Laptop along that would be able to transfer files to the GN via the USB or WiFi. (I believe there are a few apps to do this.) Is there any cheaper alternative than a full laptop to transfer data to the GN when I am on the road? I am ready to buy/arrange for any other accessories like Tablets that can transfer data.
I’d be grateful for any suggestions.
Thank you,
O. O.
one option:

Although I like Pirateghost's suggestion better, you could also buy a USB OTG cable and use a USB flash drive.
Any modifications to use USB OTG?

Thank you efrant So you mean something like a Micro-USB OTG Cable Would I need any major modifications with the stock firmware to get this to work? (Plain rooting is OK for me.)
Thanks again efrant

All you need is root and Chainfire's StickMount app.
Make sure you get a cable that is compatible with the GNex. Think I bought mine off eBay for $6.

Show your OTG hardware.

Hi, a few days ago I sold my galaxy nexus and got my nexus 4, I never got to use in full the OTG option and probably never will since my nexus 4 lacks of OTG support. I spend a lot of time trying to find the simplest of adapters out there and finally got one that fitted my needs, I wanted something small that could pass as a single adapter.
Just upload your setup for everyone to see, and help decide whats best for them.
Here is my setup. Got the USB adapter on ebay and the sd card adapter on ebay also..
Could you give the links to those? I have the wired one for my n7 and that looks better. Thanks

It's working great on my Nexus 7. looks small, and it's a lot better than a cable.

Nope, for the nexus 4 you'll need to provide 5V to the port (you need a Y cable, search for OTG on the forums and you'll see). And you'll need a custom kernel for it.

Where to get MHL cable?

Hi guys,
Where to get MHL cable for Nexus 7 in Europe? Where I look, all cables for Samsung devices. Maybe these cables work with Nexus 7 too?

No, MHL will not work. You need a slimport adapter. I got mine off of amazon.com.

This thread has a large discussion about Slimport adapters, I got mine from amazon as well. The link I supplied a week ago in this thread says they are currently out of stock unfortunately but there are a lot of others out there.
