[REF] USB JIG for Galaxy Y - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 General

Hi guys,
Currently the USB jig also works for our phone Galaxy Y, but since the current base of my phone is already 2.3.6 (S5360DXKL2) it seems that this is the new boot loader with the new FW. For now it CAN'T reset the bin counter but can revive the phone to DL mode.
here are some pics

Update (01/18/2012 - 4:32PM):
Found a 2.3.5 build (S5360JPKI4) downgraded the phone but still the jig doesn't reset the bin counter.
Update (01/18/2012 - 3:00PM):
I have downgraded the phone to S5360DXKJ3 and tried to reset the bin counter but still fails. I may need to search a 2.3.5 build of the FW.

reserved for further research.

I was going to try it.. thanks

Good Luck..
I'd help if I had any idea how it works

where did you bought that jig?!

What's the oldiest Sbl-Image you've used by now? Maybe you could post the MD5 hash value for it!?
My oldest version of a Sbl for a GT-S5360 dates from Sept. 11th, 2011, was issued together with a XXKI6 (a 2.3.5) an it's MD5 hash value is 061E059F0D321747D065208D806387BB.
myfriend901, you may buy it at ebay for example or build it on your own. Material cost are less than the price a bear / coffee takes.

Can you use Skin's Alpha recovery for galaxy Y and create a nandroid back up of your build then send me a link. I will try to flash that on my phone. I was searching for that kind of build on sampro.pl but unfortunately the link is already gone.

can we turn that nandroid into an ODIN flashable image ? would come in handy ...

the jig, which is just a 301K Ohm resistor, is quite useful, especially when the SGY is bricked to the point where the 3-button-combo fails. let's hope Samsung does not remove this emergency flash procedure from the bootloader, too.

de-brick SGY
to some extent, the jig is a de-bricker for soft-bricked SGYs.
so we got to find those unmounted partition, where the flash counter is located in.

Extracted ramdisk from boot.img inside RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26

I've extracted the ramdisk from the boot.img which was posted by Football in the RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26 file.
This contains all the bootable files which are executed once the kernel loads...
to extract all the files from the ramdisk
normally, these are the commands:
mkdir ramdisk
cd ramdisk
gzip -dc ../boot.img-ramdisk.gz | cpio -i
BUT for some reason between my uploading and the host, the .gz gets corrupted. i put all the files into a .tar
tar -xvf EVO-stock-ROM-ramdisk.tar
http://www.joeyconway.com/evo/kernel/EVO-stock-ROM-ramdisk.tar
this is the directory listing from the ramdisk (yea im using my moment dev environment...)

wow, good catch. im not sure why its being corrupted so i made all the files and directory into a .tar!
thanks for the feedback!
there are a few scripts to do what uve done here. 1) extract-ramdisk.pl and 2) split-bootimg.pl. there are a few others but these are the two i choose to use. anyhow it looks like a normal ramdisk from a snapdragon device.

sweet, i used split-bootimg.pl, worked great. im new to all this so im very glad we're on the same page!
what kind of tools do we have to put a modified boot.img back onto the EVO?
Could we update the boot.img by utilizing the ROM Update Utility functionality--by flashing an updated .nbh to the phone?

thanks! i googled it and found this thread
http://htcpedia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1404
and then a thread of yours linking back to that thread.
from what i've read in that thread and other threads, using the recovery on the phone to apply an update.zip which we create and sign, seems to be the most common method to update the phone with our own ROM.
i have one question. will the stock recovery on the EVO apply the update.zip i build and sign? or do we need a custom recovery before we can apply our update.zip files we've built and signed?
also for anybody with an EVO, feel like testing? im willing to work and create a custom update.zip which I think should give us root, I have a few different methods in mind from my last rooting experience of an Android phone, the samsung moment android 2.1 upgrade, a few weeks ago...but its really hard for me to know never having used or seen the HTC android platform and not having the EVO until the 4th...
i wish i had an EVO to test with...!

I believe that the current SPL will only run signed HTC updates, and that the common attack vector is to find a way to overwrite the default SPL with a custom widget in order to disable checks for signed updates and other annoyances. (please correct me if I'm wrong!)
My question I'm trying to figure out now is how does HTC sign the ROMs?

[GUIDE]WINDOWS 8 LIVE USB : install it on a USB KEY - UPDATE 11/01/13 - RTM TOO !!!

Hello to all ...
I have received many requests from some other forum users with whom I collaborate x and I am here today to explain how I solve a problem that does not yet seemed to have a solution ...
I WANTED TO INSTALL WINDOWS 8 ON A USB KEY AND ON THIS
THEN IT RUNS DIRECTLY !!!
I'm not talking about putting the ISO on a USB Key and then install it on your hard disk of a PC but installing it directly on it so it's ready to run on every PC on which we put the key.
NB I would like to remind everyone that the version of Windows 8 used from myself for these experiments is Windows Customer Preview 8 32 BIT, it is freely and can be found on Microsoft's site and downloading is free. This is not the ultimate version 'cause Win 8 is not out yet (due out in late 2012, perhaps) or a pirated copy. Therefore I don't intend to encourage or push someone to piracy. All of following is perfectly legal.
A few simple steps and an afternoon of testing. Here's how I did:
01) download the ISO of Windows 8 Customer Preview from Microsoft's Site (English)
02) note the relative activation KEY (always English)
03) unzip the ISO of windows with WinRAR to any folder on your PC
04) unzip the file /SOURCES/INSTALL.WIM with "UniExtract" (universal extractor) in any folder on your PC
05) have a partition of at least 12 GB free on your USB stick
06) format it, if u want, as NTFS format with Cluster Size = 1.024 bytes or 2.048 bytes
07) from the disk management of windows on that partition, run the "mark partition as active" so that the PC can then use it to boot
08) copy the entire contents of extracted INSTALL.WIM to that partition (except the trash folder, RECYCLE.BIN)
09) open the attachment that I put here in RAR, copy the 2 files on the USB KEY and from the DOS command line ( if not works, run DOS Shell as administrator ):
10) bcdboot.exe X:\windows /s X:
11) bootsect /nt60 X: /force
where X is the letter of the partition used in the USB stick. Reboot and ensure that the PC starts from USB stick. In figure 01 you can see my 8 partitions on the same USB drive where I have Windows 7 32 & 64 BIT, WINDOWS 8 32 & 64 BIT, LINUX Pinguy 32 & 64 BIT, Easeus Todo Backup Recovery with Linux shell.
NB The above guide works with the English version of Win 8 Customer Preview 32 BIT as well as the same 64 BIT only that the second requires a bit' more size (about 3 GB +). My guide is the minimum requirement under the which wraps everything but if u want it running more lean, fast and efficient, then we say that the ideal is 16 GB free for the 32 BIT and 20 GB for the 64 BIT.
The first start will make the whole configuration of the system, will ask for the key to activate the free copy of the system, your name, a password that you
can create, etc. From second boot, windows 8 will start in half a minute on a dual core processor with 2 GB of RAM. I remind you that booting from USB, will never be as fast as if it were installed on the hard disk, unless you have a USB 3.0 and never the same also in this case...
THIS IS A PREVIEW, THIS METHOD IS NOT YET FOUND IN THE WEB. I CREATED IT ONLY YESTERDAY AFTERNOON BEING ABLE TO DO IT WORKS. MY PROBLEM WAS THE COMMAND LINE FROM DOS BUT NOW IT'S PERFECT AND WORKS PERFECTLY ... SHARE THIS HOW TO IF YOU WANT, JUST PLEASE REMEMBER TO WRITE MY NAME ... PYCON IS ALWAYS QUALITY !!

UPDATE 11/01/2013 => WINDOWS 8 RTM 32 & 64 Bit
Hello everyone ... After a while 'on the run, I remembered having to try again with the release of Windows 8 RTM Build 9200, then finally ... 2 little hours for testing a program of which I already knew the existence ( not new, just some persons often combine this program with wrong DOS command or not right card format ) et voilà ! IN A FEW STEPS, WINDOWS 8 LIVE USB ... RTM VERSION AND PREVIEWS TOO ( I tried with my old Consumer Preview, I assume that it might work with the very old Developer one ). However, if the preview doesn't work, my previous method still works for sure with the previews...
Pre-requisites:
A) have the ISO Microsoft Windows 8 RTM ( remember men... the free trial is 90 days)
B) have a PRIMARY partition at least 12 GB free space on the USB drive formatted in NTFS with the choice between
- Cluster Size = 512 bytes
- Cluster Size = 1024 bytes
- Cluster Size = 2048 bytes
C) have the two little programs WINRAR (including trial version) & GIMAGEX (opensource)
Here's how:
01) open with WINRAR the ISO of Windows 8 RTM ( or the release u want to use )
02) extract the file /SOURCES/INSTALL.WIM to the hard disk ( where you want )
03) open with GIMAGEX ( Image Extractor Tool ) the file INSTALL.WIM... This's a small portable utility, download it, unzip it where you want and open the executable in 32-bit or 64-bit EXE depending on your system:
- go to 2nd tab "APPLY"
- in the 1st field "Source", click once on Browse and select your file INSTALL.WIM
- in the 2nd field "Destination", click once on Browse and select the root of your USB drive (eg X: )
- in the 3rd field "Image" you can check by clicking on Select that it's the NUMBER 1
- "Verify" not flagged
- "Check" not flagged
- click on APPLY and wait ... here it's stolen to me about 20 minutes ... depends on key and system ...
04) from disk management builted in windows, choose the partition of the USB key used and right click to "mark partition as active" so that the PC can then use it to boot
05) open a DOS command line with administrator privileges
06) go to the directory of the key X: \ Windows \ System32 where X: is the partition of the USB key
07) bcdboot.exe X:\windows /s X: /f ALL
FINISHED!
ENJOY IT !!! PYCON RULEZ !!!
wow, that's impressive. thanks for this guide, im gonna try it out very soon

No, because the proccesor in your prime has an ARM architecture so it wan't boot a 32 bit system. It also doesn't have BIOS to boot from USB.

It depends of performance of your PC.
INSTALL.WIM is 2,5 average size file, so on my I7 the uncompress
got me waiting for about 6 / 7 mins... So try, if u jave a dual core
it's possible u've to wait up to 12 / 15 mins to uncompress it...

No man, u can't format the usb key on which u've installed Win 8.
'cause for the system, it's the C: and so the system partition, u
can't format it, resize it, remove it from usb tray icon...
@pycon: I think he meant that he wanted to format it from Windows 7 (or whatever his other OS is), and I think it's safe to do that.
@k.janku1: That's because Windows 8's dual boot screen is shown AFTER Windows 8 actually boots, so before deleting Windows 8 you first have to remove it from the boot list in "msconfig" (just type that in the search), and if you already formatted your HDD partition where Windows 8 is installed, then your only solution is to repare your MBR using a Windows DVD or some other boot tool like SuperGRUB (it can restore Windows MBRs too, not just Linux!)

[Hack][Root] SIM Unlock for FREE - Info required

Hi,
I am currently residing on the One S forums (don't have a One V), and have found (in conjunction with jh787) a working method of SIM unlocking the One S for free.
The method may also be applicable to the One V.
Part of the trick is obtaining an UN_Lock-code stored on the phone. On the One S this is found as follows:
1) You need root
2) You need Terminal Emulator (free from the market)
Open the Terminal Emulator app and type:
su [enter]
strings -n 8 /dev/block/mmcblk0p6 [enter] (or maybe mmcblk0p7 on the One V)
It will output several lines of data.
One the One S, towards the bottom are 2 lines. One contains your IMEI number, the other reads UN_Lock_code=063312345 (for example)
This is NOT the SIM unlock code - don't use it!
I believe that the One V uses a different partition structure, so the correct data may not be in the mmcblk0p6 block.
If anyone can tell be the correct block for the One V, I will test the hack on your device and, if possible, provide a free sim unlock hack for the One V.
For One S, what is this mmcblk0p6 referring to ?
Below is One V partition structure:
mmcblk0p17: misc
mmcblk0p21: recovery
mmcblk0p22: boot
mmcblk0p25: system
mmcblk0p28: cache
mmcblk0p26: userdata
mmcblk0p29: devlog
mmcblk0p31: pdata
mmcblk0p30: extra
mmcblk0p32: fat
mmcblk0p27: swap

Good question - I have absolutely no idea!!
I found the IMEI number in block mmcblk0p7 but I didn't find the UN_Lock_code string. Maybe thats because mine is not SIM locked.

That may well be the case. Have added a note in the OP. Can other users try mmcblk0p7 and report..
Here is my TE output from that block which shows what you are looking for.

From other reports, I believe that the code may not exist in a factory-unlocked phone (only a carrier-locked one).
This method may help to search for the right string.
if the code is not under or above the ime code , its suposed to have a date instead, that means that the unlock code is not in the device
any news? i really need it!
this is good idea of a thread! i was about to pay for this, if someone can crack it i will donate him the payment i ment to pay for it
I have a partially locked one v (it is locked on Orange carrier - but it is confirmed as working with a Cosmote AND Vodafone carrier). Is this method working? I want to know because I want to root the thing and if I don't find a good method to unlock it I may as well go with it to service center. It's only 1 day old. Cheers
Tested, it doesn't work. Here's why:
"sh: strings: not found".
Cheers!
This is on stock version. So i guess I need to push the 'strings' in /system/bin

This method is not yet working on the One V. We still do not know where the UN_Lock_code resides (If it is there at all - it is not on the mmcblk0p6 block). If your phone works with 3 different sim cards, however, it is not SIM-locked!

The strings command seems to work only if you have busybox installed. It will work on most custom ROMs but not on stock unless you have installed busybox manually.
I have busybox installed. I've pushed strings to /system/bin and now I'll run the command. I don't know if this works or not because no one with an unlocked sim has tried it and said it was good or not.

did anyone made some progress or found any other way for software based unlocking?
I was wondering how does this unlocking sites get their codes anyway,i am sure they dont have a deal with carriers or HTC of any sort,so there must be a way to find out the codes by our selves...adb,or some tool perhaps, idk
Reason i am posting this question is that i got no means to pay anything through internet due to not having a paypal system where i live and dont have a credit card too.
Also i would like to bring some DEVELOPERS attention to this.
If i find a way i am going to post it here for sure,if someone can help, please do PM me or answer in this thread.
Thanks.

from the string sytax, I think that adr.18 is a string container for the bootloader
Have tried the tool from here but nothing looks like the unlock code from the partitions of the script.
Seems like form the One series only the S can be unlocked this way as of now. Nor the X, XL, threads says anything new.

Nope.
I've saw your posts(about XXLD1) carefully at yesterday.
So I was founding XXLD1 INCLUDING Bootfiles from yesterday.
However... I can't find firmware that including Bootfiles.
In Sam Mobile, I can't find Firmware INCLUDING Bootfiles, there are only excluding BootFiles
And, I'm unavailable to access Check Fus Downloader.

found something working but got error
"CardLock_UnLock-e58xx " code writer detect this device but when enter NCK its got error, may be due to firmware block
For NCK used old V1 algo cuss imei# start we 35XXXXXXXXXXX
but non of attempts count according to DC unlocker still remain 10 chances
if not found any solution soon i will try to update it by Web UI built in using auto update, but still hesitate to do cuss it may more difficult to unlock
*i tried using puty telnet /Serial commands but no success
