[Kernel]---Cranium Kernel for Captivate Glide{V2}(1.3 Ghz/VR/SIO/ROOT/init.d...)--- - Samsung Captivate Glide

hello folks,i present before u a custom kernel ,nothing much atm(testing time),but u can test it out.
This was compiled from AT&T source, but should work on Roger's devices.
Test it out-Flash via odin.

I will test this now
Sorry if i did not make it yesterday. I am testing this one now and so far, working great.
I will be on school in next hour, if you'd upload a CWMR version, I can test both CWM and your kernel at the same time
EDIT: Booted up and working fine
Linux Kernel 2.3.36.3
PREEMPT Mon Jan 23 16:07:38 IST 2012

woot! so it worked
now compiling another kernel with some tweaks.Comin' up soon

No worries.....that will be tested, odin or non-odin
EDIT: version 1 beta booted on my glide. New sio and vr i/o scheduler, removed some governors (ondemand, interactive, performance available). Everything is working and this is my daily driver for school this morning.... cheers!

Not yet....but I see that haptic feed back is not that strong or not as intensified as normal but not a big deal.
Vibration is also weak, it's on the state that you cannot feel it if it's in your pocket.
1.7ghz is mind blowing! there's UV too right?
EDIT: Benchmarks that I initiate.
Quadrant: 3300 (sio, interactive, 216mhz ~ 1000mhz)
Linpack: 34.815 MFLOPS (sio, interactive, 216mhz ~ 1000mhz)

Thanks for the quick work! Working well so far.

Oh BTW, i am sorry if i repeat myself, but the v1 beta has low vibration intensity on haptic feedback and notifications.

my setup under Settings > Sound > Vibration Intensity are all maxed out.
Rebooting does not solve it. I will try reflashing the kernel. Thanks
EDIT: apologies for my ignorance, I can say my statement is a false alarm. Wiped Dalvik and cache partition before and after reflash of v1 beta and vibration is back to normal

nice....but i think i am dreaming, the higher the frequency the lower the voltage? hooh haah!
EDIT: screw that, it's a voltage control app bug! >_< using cpu master atm
EDIT 2: Overclocked to 1.3ghz using CPU Master! UV of -100mV in each step > 1000mhz and so freakin' fastastic! I can't believe how low voltage Tegra chips are

[KERNEL] Synergy v0.10 [CK3+, Autogrouping, OC, UV, BFQ, BLN, OTG]

Updated to V0.10
Code:
[B][U]v0.10[/U][/B]
- uppatched to 2.6.35.14
- reverted my unreleased changes of the disabling of samsung debugging, it breaks lo power mode and causes SOD's
- Misc config tweaks
- Misc compiler tweaks
[B][U]v0.08[/U][/B]
- Up patched to 2.6.35.13 source
- merged some changed with Da_G's skyrocket source to fix cpu1 hot-plugging
this shiould solve issues of users having min clock stuck at 384mhz and/or max
stuck.
- fixed vdd_tables, system tuner will be supporting my kernel in up coming releases for this
system tuner, should no longer cause issues. as the hotplug fix solved this
[B][U]v0.06[/U][/B]
- Found tome Carrier IQ **** in tty consoles, removed it
sneaky sneaky...
- patched for call recording <--- DERP apparently it works with out my patch LOL
[B][U]v0.05.6[/U][/B]
- redid source tree from scratch
- Switched on OTG config options again (had them shut off)
- Battery issues resolved
- minor tweaks to autogrouping
- set kernel HZ to 300 for a smoother more responsive feel
- minor tweaks to lag free and smartass
- undervolts have been tested stable by many users and are in this release
[B]- PLEASE UNINSTALL SYSTEM TUNER AND CLEAR DALVIK CACHE THIS RELEASE[/B]
[B][U]v0.05.2[/U][/B]
- loosened up lag free so its not so twitchy at low freqs and ramping up and down constantly
- undervolted all freqs a fair bit
- added smartassv2 back in *Please TEST, i think i have solved the hang at max freq on wake*
- probably forgetting something else i messed with
[B][U]v0.05[/U][/B]
- sourced a multiprossesor service that actually wasnt ****ed and added to kernel
- turned on multi prossesor service and set it to shut off the second core on screen off
or when not needed, and only turn back on when needed
- Patched in BLN *thanks to romanbb*
- Patched services.jar to allow bln to notify you for most notifications from apps now
eg: gtalk, mms, sms app and ect..
- spiffy new boot logo ;)
[B][U]v0.04.1[/U][/B]
- removed smartassv2, its useless in its semi-working state, causing battery drain. I will figure out what its up to.
[B][U]v0.04[/U][/B]
- Lowered stock voltages a bit to get some better battery
- Fixed (i think) smartassv2 ramping up to max clock and then neglecting to ramp back down on wake from sleep
- Recommend using lagfree :)
[B][U]v0.03.2[/U][/B]
- fixed scheduler settings for new min freq, causing me SOD's on screen wake with notification
[B][U]v0.03.1[/U][/B]
- disabled 192MHz in the clock table so users cannot select it and cause a sleep of death situation.
- Default min freq now 384MHz
[B][U]v0.03[/U][/B]
- added in BFQ scheduler if users choose to use it you can use system tuner or other favored apps to change from CFS
- Added SmartassV2 and Iterative schedulers
- Tweaked SmartassV2 for our device
- Added ability to change voltage on the cpus with vdd_tables
[B][U]
v0.02:[/U][/B]
- 1.8ghz lag fixed ;)
- Autogrouping of scheduler added
- lagfree cpu scheduler added, with fully working sysfs interface to edit settings not set by default but recommended! its TITS!
- optimized build flags
- removed sysfs for vdd tables, we have not got it working yet. no worries you shouldn't need it yet ;)
- kernel compression changed for much faster boot times
[U][B]v0.01[/B][/U]
CK3+ Patch Set (Thanks to fellow Team Synergy member Ziggy471 for backporting)
OC 1.8 (Thanks to Romanbb's source tree)
Global UV Tables (Thanks to Romanbb's source tree)
All Debug shut off except samsung debugging (needed)
LZMA compressed
Carrier branded boot splash removed
init.d support
Voltage Control
You can control it via shell/init.d scripts as follows
To over volt ALL frequencies by 10000 uv:
Code:
echo "+10000" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/vdd_table/vdd_levels
To under volt ALL frequencies by 10000 uv:
Code:
echo "-10000" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/vdd_table/vdd_levels
To set a specific frequency (ie 1.8 GHz) with a specific voltage (ie 1.25 volts) ]
Code:
echo "1836000 1250000" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/vdd_levels
Use SetCPU as a gui or sysfs to control CPU freq

no, its based off a compleetly different source tree (as the verry first sentense in my post says), i have stripped all debugging possible, its using ck3+ patch sets not bfs 404 and my stock voltages and clock tables differ.
its also a few mb smaller then juggs and has all boot animations stripped from the ramfs
what did you set stock clock to? i'll be the guinea pig and try it out for tmobile user

Thanks for the response. You answered alot more than just my questions I'm sure. I thought for v0.2 roman used the same source. Idk
Is this uv'd as much as jugs v0.1? My phone runs like a champ at 1.8 on that and battery is excellent so that is the voltage I'd like to stick with if possible

Ive been using on-demand exclusively @ 1.7GHz and have had zero issues. Although i don't put any faith in quadrant scores i was getting 4500+
I'm going to be working with Ziggy471 on lagfree and smartass v2 govs soon and see if i can get them to cooperate better with dual core setups.

i tried increasing the vdd but it didn't help much, if at all and i was not satisfied with wasting the voltage for 100mhz. with 1.8 2d accel really suffers too in quad i experienced.

[Kernel][2.268GHz][4.1.2][11/19/13] Iced_Kernel 1.9Ghz

Hello XDA peoples, Today, 11/19/13, I update the OP with my _ICED_KERNEL_ vs. MeltDown
ther are two kernel both are samw except one is OCd to 2.2GHz and the other 1.89GHz
the 2.2ghz is labeled as meltdown. Enjoy them both test them both and report back benches bugs or other wise, peace ~Rushing
here are current changes to stock kernel
################
# CHANGE LOG: #
###############
Tested and Safe =]
1. Added =3 levels of OC @ 540MHz overclock to Faux's overclocking to 1890MHz =] YES!!!
the "YES!!!" indicates that I am proud to have contributed to the kernel as I knew I would.
was going to do this along time ago but I was discouraged by the depths of geekdom involved.. haha
2. Added the following SCHEDs in addition to stock
SIO
ZEN
fifo
vr
row
##############################################
Added the following GOVERNORS in addition to stock
badass
pegasusq
savagedzen
brazillianwax
intellidemand
interactiveX
lazy
lionheart
ondemandx
samsung
smartass
wheatley
lagfree
lazy
lulzactiveV2
smartassV2

I am still fixing my git hub right now looks like I switched repositories and made a few commits the wrong way like didnt show records quite right because of the mix. however I am going to fix that later I just realized this after looking to see if I made the kernel go to 1.89 ghz while booting up for a faster boot =] so no worries to you up and coming kernel devs I will show you how I did it on git the right way. to regular users this means nothing special to you. git is just a record of the files and text code in those files to share with others, which I def want to do since I couldn't find the coding for oc up to 1890mhz and would love to share that.

Hey Rushing, just tried this on top of JMT8 (with super cache wipe/twrp 2.6.1) and WiFi seems to be broken! Toggle in settings will not stay in ON position. Flashed back to twrp 2.6.0 because of your instructions and tried again (no cache wipe),same result. Flashed back to Tiberious 2.1 (no cache wipe) and phone booted up with WiFi on and working again.

Okay, thanks for testing I likely will never have time to flash all the ROMs and test compatibility.
I will take another stab at it. this time around all the modules will be deleted and replaced
where as in the first version the modules were expected to flash over the old ones which i guess doesnt always werk as leftovers may be uncompatible.
new build 1.1 is up thanks for testing let me know of success or failure please..
the new build works for me on my own ROM.
Wi-fi working fine here but I'm also using Rushing's Shad0w ROM. (1.1 version of kernel)
Just out of curiosity, Rushing, which of your ROMs do you use as your daily on the hercules?
Just tried 1.1 and WiFi still won't turn on with JMT8, obviously compatibility issue between the 2 of some sort. Per @aahz, kernel appears compatible with your roms Rushing. To continue the test, I'm going to flash my Shadow 1.6 nandroid tomorrow and then try 1.0 and 1.1 both just to see (and confirm). Looking forward to your next Hercules rom brother, Later

Side Note: Many of you may wonder... Why Mike, Why DJ, why 3GHz? Our answer to that is, because. That's it lol. We're curious to know the max of this kernel that EVERYONE can run... 3GHz seems like it so far. Now I'm not telling you to go and run 3GHz ALL day, that's up to you the users, but at the end... we did it just for the hell of it...

Alright folks, OP updated with link to G+ link. Take ur time scaling up to 3GHz....
Cool 3ghz finally :good:
Good job on this playa
hi
hi itsmikeramsay thank you for your work
i'm haveing a problem with kernel rebooting when ever i lunch and benchmark app like linpack
and the clock speed is not sticking on what i want if i put it to 2.2ghz i open linpack it's gows all way to 2.9ghz
also 1 of the four core is 100% all time core number 1 no matter what i do 1 core is always at 100 even if i'm not doing anything
hope you fix this soon

I'll look into it. Think I need to update some code for you guys. Don't think I'm having issues on T-Mobile with the cores running. The random reboots I'll look into as well.
None here working like a dream!

I think I found some issues that I'm adjusting now... I'm building to see whether or not it works. Some people reported random reboot/freezing on a few governors... so I'm looking into what it may be generally...
Is there a link to your sources anywhere?
Shouldn't this thread be in "T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 Original Android Development"?

Once we push source which we'll probably do in a few I'll move it there.
bootloop
Well, On my note 3 n9005 running the s5 rom it just bootloops...

Grand rebooting frequently

My Grand is rebooting frequently after installing carbon rom and nebula kernel
When I run any game, It starts to reboot. This happens even , when the screen is off.
That's why I reverted back to cm11

It's not because of ROM man.... It's kernel who giving random reboots.. U really should read at least few pages of it before flashing brother ... It's under development... Hope we get a stable kernel (nebula kernel ) soon.....
Till then.. Just use pre included one in ROM
Hope i helped

Nebula kernel is really unstable, I suggest you not flash it if you're planning to use it as a daily driver. Carbon/CM11 default kernel is already snappy, but if you want more governor/IO scheduler/overclocking more than 1.3 GHz then try k2wl's evolution kernel.
It still doesn't have KSM (kernel samepage merging) which is supposed to lower the RAM usage, but I think all AOSP-based ROMs are already very low on RAM usage.

Well holidays are already over, so I guess he's now busy with work/school/college. Devs are just regular guys...
The KSM feature isn't that much of a different anyway... What I'm hoping to see in next version is more frequency steps... as of now it is 312-600-800-1200-more but it should be better if like this: 100-200-312-400-500-600-700-800-900-1000-1100-1200... Hahaha maybe I'm asking a bit too much.

Why would anyone want to drop as low as 100 Mhz if 312 is good and battery saving??

Yes I think it will... because there are some apps that sync in the background (such as Google apps) even when the device is asleep. With the current frequency steps it is either Deep Sleep (no CPU activity at all) or 312 MHz... and I think 312 MHz is still too high for only background app syncing while asleep... just my 2 cents. :silly:
But I imagine people who use conservative governor will have a hard time using 100 MHz as the minimum frequency... because the governor scales the freq so slow, the phone will lag a lot longer when waking up :silly:

[KERNEL][Kylessopen] FrankenKernel

FrankenKernelThis kernel is pieced from two beautiful kernels made by KlinkOnE and Codename13,hence the name Franken (shortend from Frankenstein)
I used Codename13's kernel_samsung_kylessopen as base ,and reused a huge number of KlinkOnE android_kernel_ba2x_2.0-1 commits, plus handfull of commits I think help.
This kernel is intended for Kylessopen devices, meaning its for S7560,S7560m,S7562,S7562L devices.
This kernel is compatible with CM11 and PAC-Rom 4.4.4
I will try to keep this kernel alive and running,
but to all users and devs,
please be aware that this is my first venture into "kernel-land" so some bugs are bound to show their ugly face.
DOWNLOAD LINK: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120730785*Change log
Kernel updated from 3.0.60 to 3.0.101
A lot of small fixes
If kernel breaks your phone dont blame me,I didnt force you to flash it.
Souce code to FrankenKernel is here:https://github.com/pavlepiramida/FrankenKernel/tree/master
FrankenKernel with GPU OC to 300Mhz
*This version has GPU set to 300MHz,and its compiled with gcc-4.4.3 like stock kernel is.
This gcc provides a bit better graphic performance, but is also a smidge worst when it comes to CPU performance.
Kernel features:
*3 I/O schedulers:
-Deadline
-Zen(default)
-CFQ
3 CPU governors:
-Ondemand
-Lulzacive
-Performance
GPU is clocked at default ~246MHz
Kernel block has been refreshed and updated a bit, ensuring a bit more optimal IO performance
Dynamic FSync feature
DDP Writeback
Latest kernel changelog:
*Disabled KSM
Most wouldnt agree with me on this, but the fact is that KSM is way too heavy on processor which also affects battery.
Kylessopen has enough memory,it doesnt need to squeeze every byte of ram at the cost of CPU performance, and in my opinion KSM isnt a vital function
*Changed few kernel flags
Just experimenting with flags, trying to find best one that can complement kernel even more
*Switch to a better gcc
@kengnatural and I spent a whole week testing and benchmarking different compiler for kernel, until we realized that sabermod-4.7 gcc brings the most out of our Kylessopen kernels. From now on using only SaberMod gcc.
Works on s7562 with charm
