[Q] I would like to downgrade from 2.3.6 to 2.3.5 via Odin. Anybody knows? - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

Guys, my phone is rooted with SuperOneClick. I tried unrooting it with SuperOneClick many times but it's always unsuccessful so the best way is to flash the stock ROM i guess. So i downloaded this firmware from sammobile.com which has version of 2.3.5. Anybody knows how to flash the downgrade using Odin? Because i would like to get back to square one like the first time i bought the phone. Regards.

The best way would be to try the method which works:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317394
Use the rooting method via Recovery.

Wait...it says that unrooting the phone is possible BUT ONLY if i root it via Recovery. I root it with SuperOneClick, so by unrooting via Recovery method do any harm to my phone?
P/S : Do you know how to use Odin?

EDIT: I wrote so much crap in this post, can't believe it.I thought you were trying to root after an update.

THE-E said:
See, you don't have to unroot because you updated the firmware. So root is pretty much vanished.
If you want to get root permission, just use the rooting method via Recovery.
Overview:
SuperOneClick, DoomLord, manual method: works for firmwares below LA2
Rooting via Recovery works, for now, all firmwares: tested til LA2.

P.S.: And yes I know how to use ODIN, but why do you want to flash unnecessarily ?
You have to find the right firmware for your region and at the end I don't see you gaining something.

I do have root on my Wonder bro. That is why i want to flash a new firmware with Odin because i cannot unroot my Wonder. I rooted it with SuperOneClick before. I already downloaded the firmware that has a version of 2.3.5. And yes the region is made known to me before downloading it which is Malaysia.
The firmware that i have downloaded has 2 files :
-MD5 file
-SS_DL.dll*
So now, my problem is how to flash the downloaded firmware with Odin. I would love if you could provide me the instructions(step-by-step). HELP ME bro!

Just a few quetions :
1. Flashing the firmware will remove root, right?
2. The firmware that i downloaded doesn't have the .ops file. It just has the MD5 file. So how do i flash the firmware?
Afraid if i might brick my Wonder.

As posted, you can find all files, also as single file(like the Ancora.OPS) in the thread(3rd post). I can't take you the fear of bricking, beacause there is always a minor chance of bricking. But if you go by the instruction nothing should happen.
I have flashed already several times without an issue.
So be brave, world ends anyway this year ;-)

So you're saying that when i open up the Odin Multi Downloader, i just use the downloaded firmware which is the MD5 file and your .ops file? That's it? What about the .dll file that came with the downloaded firmware? Ignore it?
P/S : World ends this yr bcs it's 2012? HAHA!

Won't power on!

Hey guys I was working on using odin to root my 10.1 and it wasn't working. So i decided to try a factory reset and try odin from a fresh install. My device powered down to do the wipe and now it won't come back on. If i hold the power button the "galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition" screen shows up and then the device just turns off again. How do I fix this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm freaking out a bit.
What root method were u trying ? Which version of galaxy note 10.1 2014 do you have p600, p605, p601 etc ? Did you use appropriate rom for your note?
It seems it is soft brick, it is not irrecovable problem, you can fix it by odin, i am not sure how, you should research about it.
I can get into odin mode. but that is it.

Good news now look up some topics about soft brick, if you can enter download mode in odin you can fix it but i am not expert on android i could not remember step by step and how.
I had experinced brick problem in my n8000 galaxy note old thats why i had researched so much thing one year ago, it was hard brick and did not enter even download mode, lucky you, it enters download mode Which means soft brick. You can reflash your custom rom easily. Please look at topics about soft brick.

Safest way to root would be to Odin a custom recovery then flash SuperSu zip file. It is much safer than the old CFautoroot way.

I would think the Safest way to root would involve not using Odin. Ie. Towelroot (as applicable to your device, at this time)

S4 Mini (i9195) firmware change Q

So i've got a rooted S4 Mini running on stock firmware (4.2.2) and i want to upgrade to 4.4.2.
I've got a few questions about the procedure... What can i do to keep my contacts and text messages? I don't mind the apps much because i can install them again but if there's any way to keep those i'd find it helpful.
Also do i need to make a full backup before? And if so how should i do it?
My phone has the stock firmware from the carrier i bought it from (MEO - Portugal) and the only Portuguese 4.4.2 firmware i found on the samsung website is from Vodafone... Is that a problem? Is there a way to remove everything Vodafone related from the phone after i install it? Will my MEO sim card still work?
Final question, as the phone is rooted, will i need to root it again after?
I know it's a lot of questions but if someone could please help me i'd be very appreciated! Thanks

To backup your appdata, text messages, contacts, mobile data statistics,.. use Titanium Backup. Dont you sync your contacts with Google? But since your are simply upgrading an official firmware a backup shouldnt be necessary. ´But to be safe make a backup
A Full backup is done by flashing a custom recovery. Look for the thread here in the forum, where this procedure is explained.
If the new firmware will work with your simcard, I dont know since I'm from Europe where the firmwares are universal. For this case you have a full backup to restore if wont work.
To remove bloatware, again, use Titanium Backup.
And yes you have to root again.

Since I am in the same boat is there anywhere a procedure on how to do upgrade. Mine is also rooted and has 4.2.2. Not sure about CW or anything else. Guess I can do upgrade by loading firmware on flash card then power the device off and press volume down + home + power for a while? Once in download mode just point to file and let it go?

Unpack the zip and delete the .dll file. You only need the .tar.md5 (I suppose it had this ending).

Yes. EMSPilot's rom is a US version. You can just flash it.
You will need to first root using cf-auto root, then install a custom recovery like TWRP to flash this rom. It will trip your knox counter and void your warranty.
Alternatively, if you don't want to void your warranty and want a stock US rom, got to sammobile.com and download the appropriate rom which you will flash with Odin.

thx dl12345. I tried to search EMSPilot's rom thread, but not sure if i am able to make sure that papergarden apps is inside that ROM?
Here is an overview of how to use odin which is what you need to flash official firmware.
http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...ide-samsung-how-flash-stock-rom-via-odin.html
You'll need to download the rom you wish to flash and the Odin program.
Most of these samsung devices all follow the same formula so that's a plus.
Personally I've flashed from US based roms to various countries without issues, except Chinas version, which wouldn't install.
If you need more info then please feel free to search it out and good luck.

I had a look and it doesn't seem to be there. But that isn't a problem because you can always pull it out of the stock firmware and since EMSPilot's ROM is a rooted one, you can install it to /system/priv-app fairly easily using something like Total Commander or any other root file manager or even TWRP file manager for that matter.
The APKs are called SamsungMagazine.apk and SamsungMagazineWidget.apk. I have made de-odexed and zipaligned versions of these APKs so I can let you have them if you need.
Alternatively, flash the stock (which won't nuke your warranty). I cannot find a USA version on sammobile, but I can confirm that the generic UK version has the Samsung magazine APKs on it

Ok, so a few clarifications: yes, EMSPilot's ROM does seem to have Papergarde. However, after I checked, I note that the Samsung appstore has a copy you can just download and install. You should try this method as it's the simplest solution.
problem is i couldnt find any papergarden apps in the Samsung App store.

Ok, then it is deliberately region filtered. I saw another comment on a different site that indicated a similar thing. In which case trying to install the APKs on your Singapore device probably would run into issues with the content not being available.
I recommend flashing the stock firmware. Get the UK version here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=32716. Unzip it. Download the cf-auto root tool for the SM-T700. here: http://download.chainfire.eu/468/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-klimtwifi-klimtwifixx-smt700.zip. You don't need to root if you install the stock firmware, however the cf-auto root package contains the latest Odin utility. If you don't root you will not trigger the knox flag and your warrant will remain intact.
Unzip the cf-auto root file and copy the unzipped tar.md5 firmware file from above into the same folder.
Open Odin
Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin showing the com port is connected
Click PDA button in Odin and choose the .tar.md5 firmware file you unzipped. It will verify the md5 signature.
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked (which it should not be with the Odin from cf-autoroot). Don't touch anything else.
Click the start button
It will take a few minutes and you will then be on generic UK firmware with Papergarden installed. At this point, if you decide you want to root, then also flash the firmware image file that came with the cf-autoroot package in exactly the same way (click PDA, choose the file, click start). This will root your device but also trigger the Knox flag and void your warranty.
This is about as easy as it can get. I've given you the links to the correct firmware and the flash utility as well as explicit instructions on how to flash the firmware.

S9 crashes if it goes into locked screen [ROOTED]

Hey Community,
Im new here and got a big problem with my s9.
I rooted it today with magisk, just recovered my backup.
Then i noticed that always when the phone is looking to locked screen it just crash and i cant start it (only with Volume up + Bixby + Power Button and then there choose the reboot function)
Would be great if someone know the reason why this happens.
Regards
bump
Probably something to do with restoring your backup
No talk about lucky patcher on XDA as it is classed as Warez

Try flashing stock 100% with CSC instead, do not restore any backup

You rooted your phone without knowing how to flash stock back?
Download the stock firmware, extract it, add all 4 sections to ODIN 3.13.1, do not use HOME_CSC, use CSC instead, put phone in download mode, flash

Have you found a Fix to this? What software did you use for rooting? Did you install a custom recovery?
For me this exact thing happens with TWRP and magisk. On the TWRP Thread jesec pointed out that rooting without flashing a custom kernel will most likely cause issues.
Was hoping you may have found a solution
