To follow this guide you must have:
HTC Wildfire S, Rooted, Unlocked Bootloader, Clockworkmod Recovery flashed.
Cyanogenmod 7.2 (any will do, normal or latest nightly.) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494480
External SD card, Any size (larger than 512mb)
Your Cyanogenmod 7.2 ZIP, where the rom is in.
1.
Download This theme. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329375
Put the .APK (that is in the .ZIP file on your sd card, and install it with a File manager (download on market, i recommend astro or ES).
Apply the theme using the default app Theme Chooser (Cyanogenmod 7 only)
Fast link: http://www.mediafire.com/?dvws5vklawykap8
2.
Go to your theme chooser after installing the APK and select the theme.
If you like it already you can stop now, but if you want a real feel to it, i recommend installing the layouts and framework animations.
3.
To install the custom layouts, go to this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316574
Follow the video in that thread, and flash the .ZIP you get from it with Clockworkmod recovery. (MAKE A BACKUP FIRST)
EDIT:(feb 19)
Here's some links to the files already flashed, but i'm not sure if they work on all cm7 versions (i use a nightly not the normal one).
Just put on your SD card and flash with clockworkmod manager, the unpatch file is also there if you need it.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/60852825/ics_patch.zip
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/60852825/ics_undo.zip
Download both just in case it goes wrong.
Also make a NANDROID Backup.
4.
To install the ROBOTO font of ICS, download this.
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?bn9er8dhm8wrh9k
And flash it with Clockworkmod Recovery.
5.
Install GO launcher ex, and then install this theme from the market.

If you get a white buggy background in the app drawer, press your menu key, press preferences -> visual settings -> backgrounds -> App drawer background and then press Transparent background or custom background.

I also used GO Locker with this theme.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jiubang.goscreenlock.theme.icecream&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5qaXViYW5nLmdvc2NyZWVubG9jay50aGVtZS5pY2VjcmVhbSJd
But you can pick any lockscreen you like.
8.
For a fun prank on your friends, download ROM Toolbox. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jrummy.liberty.toolbox&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5qcnVtbXkubGliZXJ0eS50b29sYm94Il0.
And start it. Go to the Performance tab and press Build.prop editor.
Scroll down to ro.build.version.release and edit it to something like 4.0.2 Ice Cream Sandwich
You can also edit ro.modversion to something like Cyanogenmod 9.10 RC2.
9. (Edit: 19Feb)
For widgets, I downloaded all GO Widgets and this theme.
https://market.android.com/details?...nathan.icecreamsandwich&feature=search_result
For the search bar, i used this theme.
https://market.android.com/details?id=dcombl.gowidget.icsearch&feature=search_result
Use the default analog clock, or download this one.

10. (Edit: 22Feb)
For Sounds (UI, not notification, ringtone) , download this .ZIP and flash it with Clockworkmod.

I can't do that because it's mostly apps. But I could make a custom cm7 ROM like the miui one where it's all pre installed.
I do have the status bar layout zip if you want it, but I don't know if it works on all versions of cyanogenmod.
I am going to sleep now, and see if I can put all the flash zips into one tomorrow
Sent from my Wildfire S, CM7.2

Added direct download links to the layout flashable ZIP's!
Am going to try to mod a CM7 rom so this is all included, today!

ipodguitar-your one of the blessing of xda dev thanks

Thanks guys!
Added a nice header photo I made.

Hi,
when applying your theme on CM7.2 KANGO (latest nightly), colors/background in application Tasker are out of control (just doesn't look so good anymore) + some settings does have BLACK text on GREY background (it's not very readable). And thanks for custom layouts, it works (my wife's WildFire almost looks and behave like my Galaxy S with ICS ;-) )

thx . awesome!

I'm not sure about anything in tasker, I'll download the app now and look at the problems.
Its on the Wildfire S right, and if its not is it on a MDPI phone?

Hey again,
Isnt it black-grey because you/your wife played with the theme settings?
Try changing things there, and it should work.
On default it all works for me.

I have started creating a custom CM7 rom that will have all this pre-included, plus the crappy gallery removed and added quickpic.

Hi, no, she wasn't playing with any settings, she better doesn't even touch it Actually when applying any other theme, it's fine. Now she is on Cyanbread and it's totally ok. It's really Wildfire S. Don't know what could be the problem....

[Theme] HeroMod for JF 1.51ADP [17/July/09]

Hi all,
First off this is my first theme so please, please go easy on me This was initially just made for myself however I thought that after ‘taking’ lots of info from you guys here I would like pass back my new found knowledge.
Most importantly I need to say my thanks.
The base theme comes from tehseano and moonsspoon production (found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=520629) So mostly all credit go to them.
Now it is most crucial that I thanks my teachers or those who have pointed me in the right direction. So in no particular order thanks to the following (hope I have not forgot anybody)
RichieDaze/Stericson/Ohsaka/Mianosm/beagz/brandenk/kizer/alritewhadeva and so many more.
So on with the Theme…
What’s included?
- 5 Home Screens
- Auto Rotate on Home Screen
- Hero Transition/Animation Effects
- Hero Analog Clock (customised)
- Hero Title Bar
- Hero Music App + Widget
- HTC Camera (with Zoom) & Gallery
- Built in Host File to Block Unwanted Mobile Ads (thanks to Adfree on the Market)
- Hero Style LockScreen
- Edited Icons
- Built in and Customised Widgets (thanks to CurveFish)
- Many, Many Image Edits
- Much, Much More.
Supported Roms
This is designed and only tested to work with the following Roms,
- JF v1.51 CRB43 ADP1.5 which can be located here: http://jf.andblogs.net/2009/05/24/jfv151-images-are-out/
I do however believe this may work on other ROMs but you will have to test these on your own.
How To Install
- Wipe and install the above Rom so you have a clean slate (Not needed but highly recommended)
- Remove any icons on the 2nd (middle) and 3rd (currently right) screens.
- Uninstall Google Maps if you have the updated version available on the market.
- Flash the update.zip from the downloadable link
- Allow the phone to boot. This may take over five minutes on the first boot.
Removing the previous JF APK’s
Now we need to remove the JF APK’s that are no long needed.
- Run Terminal after the theme has been applied.
- Type the following,
Line 1: SU (hit enter)
Line 2: Mount –o rw,remount –t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock03 /system (hit enter)
Line 3:rm –r /system/app/********
Please replace the *’s from above with the name of the APK for example,
- Music.apk
- Maps.apk
- VoiceDialer.apk
- Anything else your after .APK
Where Can I Get This Theme?
Download the .zip file from one of the below links and rename to update.zip and flash.

FAQ Provided by tehseano and moonsspoon
1.) You do such great work, like, omg! How can I help?
Well since you can't email prostitutes, any donations would help greatly. There's a link in my signature if you'd like to donate. If you can't do that, then download the file below from Rapidshare.com. Make sure to download it as a free user (if you have a premium account). This will at least help me continue my Premium account. There's nothing special about it, just a 10mb picture, and it doesn't cost you a dime
LINK: http://rapidshare.com/files/252048497/donate.zip
2.) Will you support other ROM's like Cyanogen's, or TheDude's?
I will not port my theme to any other ROM until it is finished. I don't want to have to make updates for 7 different builds, and continuously update each one. So once the theme is finished, I will begin porting it to other ROM's, for the mean time please stop asking when I will port it to xx ROM. Other users have begun porting my theme, use the search function and I'm sure you'll find support for another ROM.
3.) Can you port over the xxxx app from Hero?
We're lucky that the apps that have been ported over worked. Most of the apps from Hero require certain libraries from the Hero build environment, and won't work on any build BUT Hero. If any get ported over, you will see them here.
4.) I flashed the theme, but now all I can see is the status bar, everything else is black!
As mentioned in the installation instructions, you need to clear the 2nd and 3rd screens on your desktop of any icons. The new Hero clock takes up more space, and if the space it needs is already taken, you will get a black screen like so.
5.) I have two music apps, did something go wrong?
On the contrary, the new HTC Music app does not overwrite the standard Music app. The Music app with the updated icon is the HTC Music app. You can remove the old one via ADB by doing the following:
Code:
adb remount
adb shell rm -r /system/app/Music.apk
6.) I'm running Cyanogen's x.x.x build and it removed xxxxx feature!!
As I mentioned, I am ONLY supporting JF Builds at the moment. There are features I would like to incorporate, but they take time. So please be patient, and allow me to work on fixing the problems. Many users take it upon themselves to make temporary fixes for the problem, so read up on the issue before replying about it.
7.) My camera is in black and white, WTF!!!
It's just a setting issue from the previous Camera app. Simply hit Menu > Reset to Defaults, and you should be right as rain.
8.) When in landscape mode, the lockscreen looks funny!
Meh, yeah. I didn't even know the lockscreen worked in landscape mode, so I was surprised anyone noticed it either. I don't have any plans on fixing it really, it looks sick in portrait mode, and thats where you see it 99% of the time. MAYBE, I'll fix it later? But don't expect it anytime soon, sorry.
9.) When I turn the orientation setting off, my home screen still rotates. WHAT THE FRONT DOOR!!!
Yeah I know, it's being worked on. In the mean time, don't try and look at your phone sideways!

im not sure if you missed it but in the FAQ portion of the op, he says he wont be doing any ports. im runnin CM as well but i doubt this will work properly on 3.6.7.2 because of the added features to the rom that even themes for the older CM roms wont work on the new build. none the less good looking theme. any screen shots of the "Hero Music App + Widget"
is this the actual hero widget or just the app and upgrade look on the stock widget? cause the hero music widget looks dope.
The icons are blue when the HTC Hero icons are green
I kind of like the blue...maybe darken it a little...but that glow looks nice to me.
Looks GREAT... keep up the good work.
I'm still trying to mod the US cupcake to have the ADP versions features, like 5 home screens and a customizable lock screen.
Since most of the modified roms are based ADP, it's a good challenge though. Maybe someones with higher knowledge can help me one day.
But, you blew right passed me...
i followed directions, any help?
So I cleared all icons and unitstalled maps, did a wipe and flash, and screen is still black, what are my options, thanks

Ok what you need to do is boot in a plain JF build, clear the home screens icons and widgets, and then apply this theme.
I did not get this to work on JFv1.51_CRB43-US at all. Just wiped and installed JFv1.50_ADP1.5 and its worked, currently at the bootscreen.
But with the other build I tried the 1.51 it unzipped and verified the packed, said it installed and everything said the update was complete but it didn't work at all.
Maybe its because I'm using Cyans recovery image.
But still.
I think I will like this theme.
But I believe I will much rather use it on cyans build.
Haven't tested it out yet but I'm hoping auto rotate can be enabled.
Booted up, hello android dev phone with a baby blue android!

There are themed HTC Sense clocks on the Android Market (except for the Flip Clock one) but if you can find the old version of beautiful widgets online (any version before 2.5.1) or fancy widgets (also online. I would recommend any version 1.2.7-1.3 since those are the ones that I tried), you will get a flip clock themed one.

You need LauncherPro (free on the market), unzip the .png file and put those .png in a folder (I would recommend a different folder for each version). There is an option in LauncherPro that lets you use custom backgrounds. Just import the .png file of your choosing.
The flip clock with weather cannot be found in the market since HTC put a C&D on those types of clocks. Look at my previous post to find 2 widgets that is the flip clock with weather online.
If you leave ADW on the stock RC2 rom can you still flash the theme to the phone? If so what file do you flash V1.6.1 Metamorph: VatSense1.6.1-metamorph.zip or
Recovery: VatSense1.6.1.zip? Can someone explain this? Thanks Guys!

Here is my new theme- I have been using it myself on my Nexus One for a month or so now. I grabbed some images from a theme by JaiThemes (if you appreciate my work please buy one of his cheap themes on the market) and edited them to how I liked them. Then I combined in some of my own images plus some xml edits.
It is CMMOD flavour. It is still WIP and isn't a complete theme yet- only the main
So here it is- a metamorph- please use metamorph by Stericson from the market- makes theming so much easier. I have found that applying each apk one at a time is more reliable, and increasing metamorph delay in settings makes the whole morphing process a hell of a lot easier. To get the clock, notification text etc the correct colour, after applying all parts of the metamorph you need to go into CM Settings, then User interface, then tweaks extras and select this theme form the dropdown menu
MEDIAFIRE LINK:
CMMOD_HD2_Theme
Experimental v2.0
CMMOD_HD2_v2.0.zip
I have also done a CMMOD ADW theme- works well on ADW EX as well of course- although I think Anderwebs has changed the name of the folders so adding folders on EX will give a stock folder at this stage. The thing is I hate using my home screen landscape so haven't done any landscape images properly- that is planned
CMMOD_ADW
If you prefer a clear GenieWidget then here it is- still CMMOD flavoured.
CMMOD_HD2_ClearGenie
If you use Better Keyboard or Smart Keyboard Pro I also have a theme on the market for that:
CMMOD_SmartKeyboardPro_Theme

Retransfer rom to phone.
If in clockwork it says copying System and this completes in around 3 seconds you have done something wrong or the zip has not transfered to sdcard correctly.
If that does not help

[THEME] KLoNe Technologies *v1.01* for Cognition S2 1.5.1

Hey guys,
Not trying to be annoying, but I was just going to put a pic of my current theme up on the SGS2 "Post Your Desktop" topic and thought that other people may want it as well.
Well, here it is - I've never packaged a theme before, so if there's a little bit of interest, I may have to learn how to get one all CWM packaged up and distributed for you guys
Anywhere, here it is:

Well, you guys have all waited long enough for the incredible drawn-out delivery of my theme for digitalgears' Cognition S2 ROM.
After much tinkering and tweaking with PNGs, learning how to put together an CWM update package and lots of troubleshooting, I am now releasing v1.0 of my KLoNe Technologies theme.
INSTALLATION:
You must be running designgears' 'Cognition S2 1.51' rom to use this theme.
Download latest KLoNe Technologies theme and copy to your SD-card.
Flash via recovery menu (a kernel with CWM is needed; I recommend Ninphetamine 2.1.3)
THANKS TO:
Tayutama: This theme is very heavily based on Tamutama's incredible themed Froyo ROM "Tayutama Edition v1.0.2" for the GT-I9000 back in the day.
setenza01: Many ideas also coming from his themed ROM "SamSet 1.9f".
designgears: For his excellent, ongoing work on the Cognition S2 ROM.
esk02k: For his great battery mod which he/she let me use in my theme.
Hacre & netarchy: For their awesome Ninphetamine kernel.
hardcore: For the excellent SpeedMod kernel & development.
Dysgenic: For the badass bootanimation.zip!
criskelo: For his great C-Style Battery Mod.
Let me know if I missed you out!
TROUBLESHOOTING:
This is my first try at publishing a theme, so I would not be at all surprised if there are bugs (I tried to find them all!). Please report back here and I'll do my best to fix them up for you.
Please also tell me what you think about the theme.
WARNING: I AM NOT RESPONSIPLE FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE TO YOUR DEVICE!
ERRORS INSTALLING v1.01
I personally cannot reproduce these errors. Best solution is probably to do the following:
__
a backup of your system/apps with TITANIUM BACKUP
__
a FULL-WIPE in RECOVERY
__
REFLASH Cognition S2 1.5.1
__
then try installing KLoNe Technologies v1.01.
__
It should install perfectly from a fresh install - I have tried it many times.
shahed26 said:
A quick update - Regarding the errors people reporting, after several testing I found out that after install the congnition rom, you must first connect to wifi and then reboot to recovery, flash dalvik cache and then install the Klone theme.
Everytime I installed Cognition rom and flashed dalvik cache without configuring my wifi connection, i always got the error 1. Hope this info helps.
EDIT: Klone theme also works on latest stock KI3 rooted rom

UPDATE: Monday, 5th September, 2011. Updated to v1.01.
PATTERN LOCKSCREEN
First up; I've changed the Pattern Lockscreen around so that it can now be seen. (Thanks TvBTvB)
Secondly, it seems that quite a number of people are having difficulties with the theme not looking 100% like the screenshots. This is because my setup is built with widgets & apps (mostly paid) which from what I have come to believe, cannot be setup with just a CWM flashable theme zip (without releasing a full ROM). So, what I will do is list EXACTLY what you will need to have your setup 100% like mine
Hope this helps!
NOTE: (If you don't use LauncherPro Plus eg. you'd rather use ADW or something; the dock is in: /sdcard/KLoNe Technologies/LauncherPro Plus Dock/ & the (blank) icons are in: /sdcard/KLoNe Technologies/LauncherPro Plus Icons/).
ROOTED
Your SGS2 MUST be ROOTED. Cognition 1.5.1 is rooted by default.
__
SCREEN DPI (OPTIONAL)
I have my DPI set at 170. This can be changed via apps such as: Captivate/SGS Tools & LCD Density Changer. WARNING: This will make a few apps act funny. Don't use this step if you're not ready to fool around with new apps/settings getting things just right.
__
APP LAUNCHER
I am using a different App Launcher as opposed to Samsung's TouchwizUI 4.0. I am using LauncherPro Plus. Here you can find the Paid Version Unlocker (Paid version needed to achieve the look of the theme - Paid version lets us RE-SIZE WIDGETS, which is CRITICAL!).
__
BOOT SCREEN (OPTIONAL)
The BOTTOM-LEFT screenshot shows a brushed steel Android. This is my custom Boot Screen replacement (seen before the bootanimation.zip starts). This can be changed by using This Guide & the logo.jpg in the sdcard\KLoNe Technology\Boot Screen Replacement\ folder, provided.
__
BOOTANIMATION.ZIP
The next screen is the bootanimation.zip replacement provided with the theme. It should work automatically, but if not, make sure you are running a kernel with custom bootanimation.zip support. Again, I recommend Ninphetamine 2.1.3.
__
LOCKSCREEN
Next is the custom Lock Screen. This is achieved by using the great program: WidgetLocker Lockscreen. You will also need Minimalistic Text Widget from the market to add the Date & Clock you see. You can setup WidgetLocker as you'd like, but to get the full effect, set the LOCKSCREEN WALLPAPER (in 'Look & Feel') to KLoNe Technologies Lockscreen.jpg in your \sdcard\KLoNe Technologies\Lockscreen\ folder. Remove all the sliders and widgets by long pressing and dragging to the trashcan at the bottom. Then select 'Add' from the 'Menu' and select 'Custom Slider'. Select 'Light (iPhone)' here and move it to the bottom of the screen. Next 'Add' a 'Widget' named: 'Minimalistic Text' - the 4x1 (hor) should be suitable. When the preferences screen pops up, scroll right down to the bottom and select: 'Restore', then 'Date_KLoNe_Technologies', then press 'OK'. Do this again, but this time 'Restore': 'Time_KLoNe_Technologies'. This should get our LOCKSCREEN looking the way it should
__
APP LAUNCHER
OK, lets get our Launcher into action!. Here we're going to need more apps from the Market. Download the following: LauncherPro Sense Skin (skin for the 'Friends' widget), PowerAMP Music Player (Widget in 2nd screenshot), Fancy Widgets (Weather & Flip Clock Widget), Extended Controls, Desktop VisualizeR & Folder Organizer (there is also a Lite version available HERE).
__
LAUNCHERPRO PLUS PREFERENCES
From the 'Menu' in LauncherPro Plus, select 'Preferences'. First up, scroll right to the bottom and select: 'Restore Backup', then 'OK' then 'LP Widget Settings'. Here, select 'Friends Widget', 'Select Skin' and lastly 'LP Sense 3.0'. Now, unfortunately Android OS doesn't like us restoring Widgets, so we have to delete the ones on our homescreens and start from scratch. Here we go!
__
1ST SCREEN: add the 'LauncherPro Widget': 'Friends'.
__
2ND SCREEN: add the 'Widget': 'PowerAMP 4x2'.
__
3RD SCREEN: add the 'Widget': 'Fancy Widgets 4x2'. The skin used here is called: 'MIUI Clock Alternative' available from within the app.
__
4TH SCREEN: add the 'Widget' 'BuzzBox 4x4' (select 'Dark'). Resize if you'd like.
__
5TH SCREEN: add the 'Widget': 'Extended Controls 1x4'. When the options menu pops up, click 'Profiles' down the bottom and then load 'KLoNe Technologies' . Accept this & we're good to go
__
YOU ALL STILL WITH ME?
__
OK, so what have we got left? Oh, those beautiful, big icons that every wants . OK, let's do this!
__
FOLDER ORGANIZER
Open up the 'Folder Organizer' App from the App Drawer. This app will help you setup folders like you see in the screenshot 3rd from the right,m down the bottom. It's fairly self-explanatory, so setup a Folders for 'Social Networks', 'Multimedia', 'Applications' & 'Games'.
To setup the skin of each folder, check out the values in the screenshot in your /sdcard/KLoNe Technologies/Folder Organizer/ folder named: 'Folder Organizer Skins Settings.png'
__
DESKTOP VISUALIZER
OK, time for those big, beautiful desktop icons
Go to your 1st homescreen and open up the 'Widgets' window - from here select 'Desktop VisualizeR (2x2)'. Click on the newly created 'Widget'. First thing is to select an icon. Click 'Image File' and find the 'Desktop VisualizeR Icons' folder and select the appropriate icon. Next is to select the action. Click 'Other', then 'Folder Organizer Folder link' - you can then select one of the folders which you previously setup with the Folder Organizer app. You can relabel the icon here also if you wish. Now, just click OK and reposition the icon on your Homescreen by longpressing on the icon. REPEAT FOR THE OTHER ICONS.
__
HANDCENT SMS APP
OK, unfortunately after many hours of trying to streamline the process of installing Handcent & having the app themed; I have failed - for now.
Please understand that I will continue working to get this working for you guys - hopefully will be ready for 1.02! You might as well download Handcent and start theming yourself to get as close as you can to the screenshot while you wait - it's not too hard.
__
Until then - ENJOY!

PLEASE HAVE THE COMMON DECENCY TO ASK FIRST BEFORE BLATANTLY RIPPING OFF MY WORK. YOU DO NOT HAVE THE PERMISSION TO MODIFY/DISTRIBUTE THIS WORK WITHOUT MY PRIOR CONSENT.

[SOFTKEYS] Softkey Collection [05-04 Facebook Home]

I am proud to present you my collection of Softkeys for the Google Samsung Galaxy Nexus
I'd be grateful if you want to press the Thanks button if you're going to use these Softkeys!

Read this before you apply these buttons!
- If your ROM doesn't have a built-in Search or Big Menu softkey, then these images won't be used on your phone, it will only show Back, Home & Recent
- You need a rooted phone otherwise none of these methods will work! Stock rooted combined with ZipThemer works for most people, MetaMorph not always so preferably use ZipThemer
- The buttons will be a little less bright on your phone due to a layer of alpha transparency over them when you're not pressing them.
- IT IS ALWAYS RECOMMENDED TO DO A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE FLASHING THESE SOFTKEY MODS!

Installation Methods
*** AOKP ***
Go to the Dropbox page of the style of your preference
Download the images you need from the folder and save them (probably to /sdcard/download)
Fire up Settings -> Rom Control -> Navigation Bar and select the images you just downloaded
Done!
*** Paranoid Android ***
Download one of the Softkey themes that starts with MMZT_
Make a backup of your ROM in Recovery
Extract SystemUI.apk from your ROM (located in /system/app) using your favorite File Explorer App with Root access
Open SystemUI.apk and put each image from the MMZT_ file (located in /res/drawable-xhdpi) downloaded in the following folders located at /res (replace the existing images): drawable-sw600dp-xhdpi drawable-sw720dp-xhdpi drawable-sw1000dp-xhdpi and drawable-xhdpi
Paste new SystemUI.apk into /system/app using your favorite File Explorer App with Root access
*** ZipThemer (Recommended, Failsafe) ***
Download one of the Softkey themes that starts with MMZT_
Open ZipThemer. If this is the first time using ZipThemer then you have to select "Update Edify", "Browse", and select the .zip of the ROM you're currently using (this identifies the update script and needed files, if you're using a flashed theme on top of your ROM then please select the theme instead of the ROM) and press "Configure"
Go back to the main menu and press "+Theme", select the downloaded MMZT_ file and press "Build It!". Select "Always" on the popup prompt to make a backup in case it doesn't work or you want to undo
Boot into recovery, and flash the zip on the root of your /sdcard/ like any other flashable ROM/Theme
Wipe your Cache and Dalvik Cache just to be sure nothing weird happens on reboot
Reboot your phone after this and you're done!
If it somehow still fails just flash the "undo-zip" using steps 4-6
*** MetaMorph (Easier but riskier than ZipThemer) ***
Download and install MetaMorph from the Market
Launch MetaMorph at least once so that the folder AndroidThemes will be created on /sdcard/. (You can also create the folder manually if it doesn't)
Download a Softkey Style using the MetaMorph link and move this .zip file to /sdcard/AndroidThemes using your favorite file explorer
Open MetaMorph, choose "Unzip/Extract new theme" and select the .zip file you downloaded. A popup screen will appear, meaning it has been extracted. Press the "Close" button.
Hit the "Apply all!" button and wait +/- 5 seconds (nothing will happen)
Reboot your phone immediately after this and you're done!

Make a backup of SystemUI.apk and let us know

Do you need to be using a ROM to get this to work?

Well you're always using a ROM, even a stock Android version is still called a ROM
Considering your question, I guess that as long your phone is rooted (meaning you can access the system files like SystemUI.apk) you can install this mod no problem
works great on GSM version!
Looks good on my gnex! Thanks for this collection!
This is a great thread.
Loving the new softkeys....thanks guys.
