[Q] force close new apps after changing build.prop - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

after i changed the "ro.product.cpu.abi=armeabi-v6l" into "ro.product.cpu.abi=armeabi-v7l" first all apps are working now after i installed new apps.all just things is force close.when i reverse the settings of build.prop it still force closing on new apps any way to fix it?

Make sure the settings are indeed reversed properly.
Try clearing Dalvik cache.
Otherwise, try uninstalling the faulty apps and reinstalling them again,
If all that fails, you'll probably need to factory reset.

Well atleast your phone can boot up right? Go download Rom Manager on your phone or download it from PC then connect device to PC and place Rom Manager.apk to the root of your sd card. Then using a file explorer, find the apk and install it. Once done open rom manager and scroll down untill u see Fix Permissions. Click it. Now wait and reboot phone. Should fix some stuff
Dont do anything else with Rom Manager!!!!!!!
Dont fix permissions using recovery!!!!!!!

MARKET - install failed

HELP! I am running the latest SPRINT LOVERS ROM and have been having an issue with downloading NEW apps from the market and also installing updates to APPS. I could not get ANYTHING to install or download using the LATEST MARKET so I flash the OLD market to my phone. for the past week or so, I have been able to download SOME new apps and update SOME APPS. However, some apps, I had to uninstall and THEN reinstall or else I would get a INSTALL FAILED message. Now as of today, I cant download ANY new APPS as it downloads and then TRIES to install and I get a DOWNLOAD FAILED. In CATLOG I see "DEXOPT FAILED" and it references the downloaded file I was just downloading.
How do I fix this so that I can download again. I see in the android market forum that LOTS of people are having this issue but there is no resolution. I though it might be the memory card but I tried a different one and SAME issue. I also cleared the cache and DALVIK cache and same issue (the dexopt failed mentions the DALVIK CACHE). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Well, you can try reflashing the rom, going into apps clearing the market cache, reboot, or flash the newest gapps.

Go into recovery and wipe ur cache. The market stores apps there when downloading before it installs to the correct file on ur phone

I wiped cache and dalvik cache... Same issue....
The problem isn't the market, well the upgrading/installing new apps part isn't. There is a temp file that is on your sd card which is for the market, if that file gets corrupted or flagged with low on space, it'll prevent updates/new installs from happening. To fix this you need to delete that file, you can only see this file via plugged into a computer as a storage device then go to .android_secure and in there will be a random named file with .tmp at the end. Just delete that, unmount and restart the phone, after that it's back to installing again.

I dont have that TMP file in the folder mentioned. I know whichj on you are referring to and a while back I had this file which prevented me from installing files.. But I dont have it now.. any other ideas??
Note: the file is called smdl2tmp1.asec and I dont have it ...
Now something else strange... I SHOULD be able to download and install APPS with the card unmounted.. I cant EVEN download an APP if the card is mounted on the PC or unmounted from the phone settings.. any ideas
Also I notice that some times the phone will reboot while doing an install from market. I googled and saw others with this issue.

I now am flashing the old market back.. any ideas? the new market wont even start a download as it ERRORS right away with DOWNLOAD failed...

[Q] Android Market force closing

I have an problem with the android market app, whenever I open it, it force closes coming up with 'application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly.' I don't know if this is related, but I was clearing out junk apps to the SD card and I thought it might be the DownloadProvider.apk which I moved but after restoring it, it still crashes. I have also downloaded the .apk file and tried to reinstall it, but it still closes. Any thoughts?

I have the same, but only when I tap install on an app. And when I want to update apps. Now reflashing the phone.
I was getting the same thing, with the market repeatedly FCing with a 'vending' error. Was also unable to apply my MIUI OTA ROM update.
Clearing the market and download manager's cache and data wasn't enough for me. I fixed this by going in to recovery and wiping the cache (and nothing else). Worked fine after that. Seemed to be a problem with corrupted cache or download list I think.

I've the same problem. I have a rooted Arc S and everything ran smooth. This morning I got into Market and tried to download the wetter.com application (weather widget). Suddenly the market closed and every time I try to open it, got the com.android.venting message and it closes. I've tried crearing the market, uninstall market update, nothing worked. How can I go into recovery mode and wipe cache, as you mentioned? Maybe it solves my problem too.

[Q] Home process crash few time at each reboot

Hello,
So i have an Xperia Play running 2.3.4 official and recently, at each reboot, the home process service (Sony Ericsson Home) started crashing once and then twice at each reboot. I uninstalled all things i don't use but it still do and i have no idea what's causing it. I did reset user data for this process without change. Hope someone will be able to help me!
Thanks.
C'mon people.. Nobody ever got that here?

Since you've done everything, you could install the latest firmware without wiping user data, failing that you could wipe user data.
I've had this problem before but only when i messed around with the stock launchers settings, if you really don't wanna erase all your user data i could send you a stock home just tell what what version of android you're running
Also if you can get market running install gingerbread launcher, then a root explorer (file explorer) that will help when i send you a replacement home launcher
I thought it's not possible to restore the phone without erasing sd card data? I read that everywhere... I'll add a question there: How do you restore the phone if you can't start it? Just to know, in case...
I'm running 2.3.4, last update for this phone. You want to send me stock home, but do you use Xperia Play too? If not, it would be different, isn't it? About explorer: I have ES Explorer, not enough?

I meant reinstalling the stock rom, since your probably a newbie i'll tell you what to do
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1313505
That's where you get the latest firmware
2. Then install flashtool http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
3. Put the .ftf file in the firmware folder of the extracted flashtool program
4. Run the flashtool program select the .42 firmware from FLASH button, check wipe user data, Turn of the phone, hold back button, plug in usb to computer, wait till it goes green and run flashtool
5. Wait till it finishes, turn phone on, wait... wait... done!!
If you don't want to erase everything on your phone and want stock home launcher it's attached
Root your phone using the latest superoneclick or doomlords one click method found in the forums or google it
Go to market download gingerbread launcher and press home button when it's installed select it and then run ESFileExplorer, Download the Home.apk to sd card, navigate to it in ESFileExplorer, enable root permissions in the app and so the following
1. Backup original Home.apk from system/app/ folder to the SD Card
2. Copy Home.apk from sd card to system/ folder.
3. Set permissions as other system files have (rw-r--r--)
4. Move Home.apk from system/ folder to system/app/ folder replacing original one.
5. Reboot
And off course i have the same phone, why would i browse this phones section????
Thanks, actually i don't want to restore the phone now. I downloaded gingerbread an saved my home.apk file but how do i set root permission for ESExplorer? I've never set permission voluntary to any app, it just ask me when it needs it...
Anyway, i though this trouble might be cause i transfered some apps to the sd card, but still have to find which. And you didn't answer the question, how do i restore the stock firmware if my phone doesn't start anymore, isn't there an official recovery menu?

Use File Manager instead
https://market.android.com/details?...lt#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5yaG1zb2Z0LmZtIl0.
in the app press menu button go to more/settings and select root explorer and mount system folders
hold down on the home.apk when you've copied it into /system and select permissions and change the permissions to the ones i mentioned before
You can restore the firmware if anything goes wrong using either flashtool which i linked to the last post or Sony Ericsson Update Service which you can download from sony's website... if it gets to that point just ask
Also i dont think the moving apps to SD card has anything to do with your problems
Ok i'll try your home.apk soon and will report. Before making another topic and if you're using FPse, how do you get reed of the ****ed up sound? I have a PSP but it'd be more practical to do everything with the XPlay...
EDIT: Just tried your home and same thing happens... Again, two more thing: can i disable the sony ericsson video intro during boot and how to make an app start @boot?

If you want too keep your apps you can do 2 things
1. Re-install the 2.3.4 firmware using flashtool, that way you can keep all your apps even ones saved to sd card, in flashtool do not select erase user data
2. Install titanium back and backup all apps + data to sd card, that way you can uninstall everything and restore them later
Yes i was just thinking, but : If i save all apps with Titanium, can it also save my data and restore it? Cause if i just restore with flashtool (or the Sony app on computer, it works too right?) then i would have to reinstall and configure all apps manually, quite a pain. No idea for my other (not related to title) questions? I guess i should create other topics then. Thanks!
Titanium backup can backup and restore data as well as the app you don't have to configure anything except for titanium backup again. you can also use a program called mybackup by rerware to save messages and phone contacts but use titanium for apps and data it's easier to restore

Need to uninstall, not just disable, an app - slacker (to replace with diff version)

How would I do this?
Is it possible to clear data and copy paste my apk over the other one?
Have root.
Thanks
If you have root just use titanium backup to uninstall it. Go into tibu preferences and clear dalvik. Then install the new apk. If it's not an installable apk then before you uninstall the old one find out where the app is in a file browser. Then uninstall it and place the new apk where the old one was, fix permissions, and reboot.
Unfortunately that doesn't work. It even deletes it from system\app but it still appears in my app drawer and I cannot install the older version.
any ideas?
Are you restarting your phone after? Try going into recovery and clearing cache and dalvik.

It's somehow built into the rom. But if anyone has a verizon g4 and wants to see if they can completely remove slacker, let me know.
On Android, you don't need to install apk's as they will install on bootup if you place it in the correct location.
For slacker on the G4, not sure if this is a lollipop thing or a LG thing, you cannot replace the one in /system but rather, what you want to do is out the new version in /data/app since if you mess with the /system version, it will show up as uninstalled on the device.
In /system/priv-app/SlackerRadio directory, you will see:
SlackerRadio.apk,
lib which consists of:
arm folder which has the file librsjni.so
Don't touch any of those and make sure it is stock.
You want to install the new Slacker apk in /data/app/com.slacker.radio-1 folder as base.apk, it will install when you reboot so don't worry about installing it
delete the folder /data/data/com.slacker.radio
delete all the things in /data/dalvik-cache/arm and /data/dalvik-cache/arm64 and reboot.
If you wanted to completely remove Slacker, then all you would do is delete /system/priv-app/SlackerRadio and delete /data/app/com.slacker.radio* with * being anything that can be after it.
I'm not sure why titanium backup isn't working for you. I had slacker and tibu worked perfectly, I'm also on the Verizon g4. It doesn't matter if it's built into the rom. With tibu you can delete any app. But if that doesn't work the steps Almighty1 listed is the long way around but works.
And I see that you're on the Verizon g4, that means you don't have a custom recovery.

Reboot in applications manager

Not sure what I have done, but every time I go into the applications manager in settings and try to delete a app it automatically reboots shortly after I get into the applications manager section. I tried clearing the cache partition and running in safe mode but it's still wanting to reboot every time in go into applications manager.
Any ideas what might be causing this, and if so, is there any easy fix without having to perform a factory reset?
Thanks in advance!!!
