Galaxy S2 White - Backorder - Who else is suffering? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

So I just joined tmobile a few days ago and i ordered a Galaxy S2 (White) and on the phone they told me it was in stock and ready to ship. I even opted for overnight shipping. That was 5 days ago.
After calling tmobile they explained to me that they are completely UNAWARE of an items stock until the item is actually ordered. This is poor inventory organization to me. So I asked how long they think it would take, and they told me that there is no sure way to find out. It could be 2 weeks, it could be 2 months.
The best part is, they started immediately charging me for my account THE DAY OF ORDER. and when i brought that up they told me there is nothing they can do about that refunding wise. But i do have the option to cancel service alltogether.
This is messed up. Anyone else on backorder? Previously on backorder? How long did you have to wait?

Let it out. Feel better?

Sounds to me like you need to get back on the phone and complain until they put you in touch with someone who is going to make things happen for you. That's pretty poor service. I haven't had any issues with backorder but I have had my spats with tmobile. Just keep calling, keep your cool, and keep asking for someone with more authority.
I'm curious to see how it unfolds.

Wow, that is bad inventory management, you'd think in this day and age everything would organised electronically and these type of **** should not happen.

Please cancel and reorder a black one. Or argue till they give you a refund. I dont know the tmboile retentions number. Hope someone has it to help.
No reason for this. Customer service should care and make an effort to resolve this. You are a new customer for crying out loud!!!

I totally agree! I said to them that i left sprint for them, and how are they showing me that they deserve my business? The man on the phone literally says "Im not sure"

I heard they will not be making the white GS2s anymore. Anyone on Craigslist wants $450+ for one in my area.

Call tmobile and choose cancel in the IVR system. That will take you straight to retentions where you can plead your case. Good luck.

Just because it is $450 (which for a no contract device like this is actually cheap compared to the $699 msrp) doesn't mean they arent making them anymore. Yes they are limited edition, but still advertised on their website, as well as wirefly etc

tmobile is closed today so that their employees can "Spend the holiday with their families". Are you kidding me? President's day shouldn't apply to ANYONE that is not directly in contact with THE president or a past president.
What the hell did I sign up for? This is AWFUL customer service.

Wow this is complete bs, they should give you a refund, or lower the price of the device.

Yep... should have done your research before switching. T-mobile has the cheapest prices (per month) but has the most awful customer service and is always last in line for the next best phone.
I am on your side but really, T-mobile has been going down the tubes and if you read any sort of tech news, you should know this.

If you live near a Target store they sell the white Galaxy S II for $149. Call to see if they have them then cancel over the phone and go sign up in a Target store.

Yea that's a jacked situation, I just upgraded to the White SGSII, went to Wal-Mart, cause I know T-Mobile CS is the worst in the business as of right now, got it for 148.88 plus a 50 gift card, so its like a 100bucks, cancel and go to Wally World.

I would go to another store immediately if they didn't honor the promotion for the Galaxy S2. They charged me $29.99 for the White Galaxy S2

I'd say go to target I just left sprint also and picked up a white and black gs2 from target for 99.99 each took a few days for them to get the white one from there warehouse since they didn't sell them yet at that store but got the lower price. Also data is a lot faster with tmo

got mine from Walmart for 148.88 with a 50 gift card. Took me 10 minutes in and out.

When I ordered my white GS2 during the recent FAR promo via csr, I got an email later that day saying phone was back ordered. I called the next day only to be told by different csr phone is not on back order, but will be shipped that week. All things considered, I'm surprised about the poor inventory tracking system. so, agreed on that point.
Anyways, the phone was shipped couple days later and received it within a week. so, I suggest giving them another call and see what the status is. Good luck!

Its because you were talking to Customer Care, right? If you talk to retention/Upgrade department they can see the stock in real time. CS can not.

No such thing as a upgrade department and no retention can't see stock in real time no one can. The only difference rentention has is they have a different order system but if customer care has it backordered then so do we.

Sprint Customer Service...

Well, I got my Galaxy Nexus on the 21st, was very excited to get it, but I ended up returning it yesterday because I didn't like it very much compared to my Epic Touch. I had used my brother's upgrade (he doesn't care much about phones.) so I could get the early upgrade pushed to my account (~$45 charge). Anyways, when I was returning it, my main reason for returning was battery with screen time was terrible! (2 hours maximum for me, even on lowest brightness) and speakers weren't loud at all. Otherwise, it was a really good phone.
Anyways, when I went in, I told him I wanted to exchange the phone. He continued to tell me that having two web browsers (stock and ICS+) was draining the battery, my 1 minute screen idle screen off time was too high and that I had NFC checked, which was draining battery the entire time...(even though my complaint was screen on, not standby). After making me feel like an idiot, he told me I should just put the phone on Craigslist to trade it out for the Epic Touch (lol?). After I confirmed I wanted an exchange, he told me I'll have to put the phone back on the upgraded line myself, so he sent me over to their phone with no number to call (had to look it up on the device I was returning. lol!) I asked if they could do it for me and said only customer service can do it for me...kind of seems strange a SPRINT store couldn't do it for me. So I took about 15 minutes getting on the phone with someone, an additional 15 minutes getting the phones swapped back, then finally I had someone helping me with the exchange. Sprint said my upgrade fee is irreversible, that it changed my contract and that I could only use it at Sprint to upgrade my device. They also said my restocking fee and activation fee wouldn't be waived. While they were processing the Galaxy Nexus return, I called BestBuy, told them of my situation and they told me to return the phone and come in (the Epic Touch is $149.99 at BB anyways), so I went back into the store and just told them to return the phone and I'll be on my way. Well, they took about an hour processing my return AFTER I came back in and once again they said I can only use my early upgrade at a Sprint store. After I left activating my old Epic (SPH-D700), I went straight to BestBuy, used my early upgrade there, and got out in 30 minutes. I'm just surprised with how badly Sprint treated their customers.
Anyone else get terrible experience like this at Sprint? My total visit was from 10:40 to 1:00 PM!
Just saying now...AVOID THIS STORE!
9810 Baymeadows Rd # 1 Jacksonville, FL 32256
(904) 565-4400
P.S. I gave a family member my old Epic Touch, which is why I couldn't just simply go back to it.
P.S.S. I am glad to be back!
EDIT: They waived my restocking fee, but activation fee still there. lol

Haha, I'm probably going to hold out for the SGSIII. This phone was definitely faster, too. Nothing but Exynos for me.
I must say that I had a similar problem when I returned in my Photon (within my 30 days) for the Epic Touch on launch day. I had already called cs beforehand to make sure that I wouldn't have any problems. The manager at the local store was a real ***** and insisted that I be charged a $30 restocking fee. She even made a second invoice for the return. I called cs back and they refunded $15 as they couldn't find the invoice in their system. How convenient. Needless to say, I will do my phone purchases at Best Buy from now on, as they never give me any hassles. The Sprint GS3 will be an S4 as the Verizon leaked one will...so Evo S4 vs GS3 S4. Or maybe the Note successor? I'm gonna pass on the new Photon...

Sorry to hear about your crappie experience at your Sprint store... I picked up a Galaxy Nexus a few days ago (5) at my local Sprint store and was not impressed with it at all. Battery life was horrible stock and not much better rooted and romed. Took it back this morning and didn't have one issue returning it. No restock fee or having to call anyone to do it. Just unrooted and reset it, put it back in its box and told the CS rep I didn't like it. They reactivated my EVO and made sure that my upgrade was still good.

The US version of the S3 isn't getting the Quadcore Samsung Exynos chip, it's not compatible with US LTE/4G. The US version is going to get the Dualcore Qualcom S4 chip.

I hate how sales reps always seem to take returns personally, especially when you didn't buy the phone from them in the first place so you aren't taking commission out of their pocket.
I always purchase my phones through Sprint's website unless someone local is offering a deal that can't be beat and if I need to return that phone I take it into the local corporate store as is allowed.

Thats why i buy from Sam's Club. they give you 30 day exchanges too even though sprint changed their policy, usually have the phone on release day with no lines, lower price (and save money on taxes too in CA bc how they ring it up), and while ur waiting on activation u head on down to the food section and grab urself a polish dog!

They seemed a lot more helpful when I went in to buy the phone (they even sold me it a day early). Sucks to see how much they change when you want to return something.
As for the s4, I am not going to believe it until Samsung announces it. This exact thing happened last year with this phone. Remember when everyone stated this phone was going to get the Tegra 2?

They do have the Exynos compatible with LTE, but only for the Korean market as of now, as their LTE network is different from the US/Canada.
Tomorrow at 2pm EST is not that far away, so we'll see.

Absolutely the worst customer service of any provider out there. They don't give 2 ****s about their customers and that is very clear. Not only do they offer extremely poor customer service, but their rude on top of it. T-Mobile has excellent CS in comparison hands down...(and yes, once my contract expires I will never go back to sprint, I made a mistake and now I'm stuck in this pool of ****).
If you think their stores are bad, try calling them on the phone, there they REALLY don't give a ****....on the line with some fat ghetto chick that's filling her nails and can't speak proper Inglish, now that's a treat for ya! I recently had a 2 hour argument with them about no service at my house and at work (you know, the usual no text coming through at times, calls that never come through, and lets no speak about their 3g speeds...) . Nothing was done to help me, I even explained that I have a 3 year old at home with the wife and that it's vital that I don't miss calls in case of an emergency etc...but apparently my word doesn't jack since it shows that my area has coverage on their system. Their final response was: "Sir, that's what our 14 day return policy is for!" Bout lost it as you can imagine...!:banghead:
Sorry for the novel, saw the title and couldn't help it, but since that experience I have developed a deep hatred for sprint and their horrible CS. I ****ing hate them, but I'm stuck ATM...(and no I'm not spending 700$ to get out of it..).

Got my E4GT for $100 less than Sprint (or Corp Sprint store) - $99.00 U.S. AND got it in just two days; ordered on monday around noon had it in my hand by wednesday afternoon! Let it charge for a little while called CS from my old phone and let them know I was wanted to activate my new phone, and in less than 5 minutes I was up and running. I've sent other to Amazonwireless and none have been dissapointed. A co-worker save $100 on the lates Droid4 too.

[Q] AT&T Preorder Problems?

Thought I might ask here, am I the only person not able to order this phone? After two days, and hours on the phone, whenever I place my pre-order, I get a confirmation email...and then seconds later, I get a cancellation email. You can't pre-order this over the phone or in stores...is there some special number I don't know about, to call and get this issue resolved? I've literally had an AT&T service rep tell me that they will just continue to cancel my order, and I'm out of luck.
I've thought about trying with bestbuy, but I have unlimited data, and Bestbuy (online) doesn't give an option to upgrade to the unlimited LTE add on.

I had the same problem Oct 25, as I was ordering 2 Notes, one full price and one for my wife with 2 year renewal. I also spent an hour on the phone, ATT couldn't figure it out. I finally thouhgt I would order one at a time. First I ordered the full price Note and received a confirmation email, then I ordered my wife's with discount for the 2 year contracrt, again confirmation. This time, it worked, so both ordered and confirmed for 11/6 ship date. Now if you were ordering only one, no idea, but finally worked for me by ordering only one at a time.

Yeah, I'm only ordering one. And I'm not going to risk being charged 700 dollars, when I'm trying to upgrade at the discount price. I see a few other people have had the same problem, but there aren't any solutions posted. Unfortunately, ATT just says to wait and buy it in a store, which isn't an option for me. Long story short, it's a gift and the person buying it is half a country away. And it's bs that I'd have to wait even longer, due to their crappy system haha.

Having a lot of problems getting the phone as well. Tried to pre-order it online only to have it either give me an error, or give me a *$399* price instead of $299. On-the-phone reps had no clue, told me I could go to a store to preorder it. Store had no clue, said there's nothing in their system about it. "We won't sell out, just come in on the 9th and get it here." URGH. Such a giant waste of time.

You'd be doing whats called an alternate upgrade. Basically upgrading your dads line to the note 2 then putting his original phone back on his line and putting the equipment on your line (note 2) if his old phone did not need data before it won't add data. I do these at least once a day with no complications. It's incredibly easy and done more often than regular upgrades are. And you shouldn't have to call and cancel anything. Just have the associate doing the upgrade make sure and show you that your dads original equipment has been returned to his line.
I wish the employees at my lo Al vest buy could figure out how to do an alternate upgrade. I tried to do one last month on my wife's line and none of them could figure it out. I just took the phone to an att store after I left best buy to get it taken care of.

You might have an incompatible rate plan code. Apparently I had an old rate plan with an old code that the instant savings discount didn't recognize. I got all of this info from someone on AT&T live chat. They told me to call Premier and tell them to update the code and that they'll know what I'm talking about. 5 minutes later I was able to get the $100 discount and my preorder was in.

Dumb s? Really now...look at your own GD website. It doesn't give the option to upgrade to unlimited LTE, it just gives the option to not CHANGE anything. It does not clarify if that will upgrade to the unlimited LTE add on.
Look at your own site before *****ing. No wonder no one takes Best Buy seriously lol...
As for everyone else, I got a higher tier customer service, and they can't figure it out. It's basically FUBAR'd. In more detail, they said that the order isn't even making it through. That they, for some reason, don't believe I'm me. So I'll have to take care of it through a bit more complicated way.
Good luck for anyone else trying to order from ATT. I went on their forums, and I'm not the only one dealing with this hassle lol.

Heh, just got off the phone with support. We tried two different credit cards, both are empty not used very often, and it denied both then locked the account. She said I'd have to go to a store to show two forms of id to unlock the account. Yea, their system is ****ed up.
Preordering is a major waste of time. Yet another advantage of not being a iPhone user is not having to order early just to try and get it delivered day 1.
I can see certain situations where you might want to buy online and have it delivered to someone half a country away as a gift, but on the whole there is no incentive to do it.
The phones will be in stock unless their delivery didn't arrive on time. As great a phone as the Notes are, they are still in a fairly niche market. Not many people like the idea of this massive phone. People still freak out when they see me pull my phone out. My buddies will give me even more crap with the bigger screen when I get mine in a few days.
Best Buy handles everything very quickly. If you have a standalone Best Buy Mobile location near you, go there. My experience has always been better there, but that's just my experience. Less lines, less crowded.

That reminds me. I need to call geek squad again. They've been double charging my card for my protection plan every other month or so. I think this will be call number 9 to get them to fix it, again... :silly: Started when my OG Droid's touch screen died, and verizon wouldn't do anything to help me out, so I ditched them and went back to at&t. Got the Dell Streak because the Atrix wasn't out yet. 29 days later the Atrix dropped, so I swapped over to that. They "canceled" the protection plan and started it up on the new phone, but the Streak plan is haunting my account. It just won't go away. The geeks at BB can't do anything, I always have to call their customer support.

Can your guy inside confirm the lack of headphones in the box?
Also color options? White available?
He doesn't seem to be good at timely answers. My wife heard All stores are only getting 5 each and I asked him if it was true and its been half an hour ago and still no answer. I told him I need 2. I'll ask but can't promise timely answers.

I'd like to echo this sentiment. From what I've heard, from people's dealings with AT&T customer representatives, there's a thought that the white version will be available on Friday in stores. I really want the white version... so... can we get a yay or a nay?
Thanks!

replace S3 with SGN and we are brothers!!! my power button also doesnt work on the the 3gs, i really am itching, the only thing i like is that i can get 2 weeks of crap before my glorious screen returns!!!
Please let there be a white one!!
I'm going to bring my box & phone on Fri to see if I can swap for a white one. If they do have it I hope they let me swap. I did pre-order through a CS Rep.

I will be at the store nearest me at 8:30 Friday morning to try and get one. I am *so tired* of getting the runaround by ATT reps. First the inability to preorder online, then the phone rep telling me there's nothing she could do and they had no idea, and to go talk to a store. One store telling me that I could come back in a few days and preorder it from them, then saying a few days later they didn't even have the SKU in the system. *Then* that same store told me I wouldn't have a hard time at all getting one, however, I called back yesterday and they said "We aren't getting very many, you might want to be here early." ARGH. This shouldn't be this frustrating.
Just checked att website says they have them in stock to purchase at my local att store in upper darby, pa!

My local store just call me to let me know they have more than enough in @ the Town Center Jacksonville, Fl. Too bad I got a really good deal via premier support by phone. They were going to give me the phone for 299 with some freebee's but was adding a line and just keeping with no phone/data on it. 9.99 a month...Premier CSR gave it to me same price and did an early upgrade (6 months early!). I'm happy.

Try this link: http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/devices/samsung/galaxy-note-ii-titanium-gray.html?source=IC0GM8014bT00a0lO# (copied it from the AT&T website after going to the Samsung Note II page). Under the "Add to cart" button there's a "check in-store availability" link.
This really sucks. I went to an at&t store and waited until they opened this morning. They had 5 galaxy notes for sale but they would not sell me once because I would not sign a new contract. I tried buying the phone for full price and they told me it could be over a month before they are able to sell the GN2 off contract. I called customer support who actually called the store because they couldn't believe they wouldn't sell it to me. Customer support ended up saying its up to the manager to decide if they have limited stock...blah blah blah.
Terrible customer service from at&t as usual. I don't know what to do about it now because even customer support would not let me order it from them directly on the phone. I have a business account with them so I am waiting to hear back from my company rep but this BS should be allowed to exist. I am literally willing to give them $650 + tax for a phone and they won't take my money. If it wasn't for my grandfathered unlimited data plan than I would think about leaving them. Does anyone have any similar experience or suggestions on how to make this happen for me? I really wanted to get a GN2.

One thing is for certain...they are not selling like hotcakes, simply because the device is only available through customer care, online, or at a very few select corporate retail stores and the occasional Costco etc. The vast majority of none corporate stores do not have them in stock yet. The 15th...maybe...who knows for sure. Perfect example is the VERY busy T-Mobile store down the road from me (Portland, OR), does not even have the One yet, let alone the GS4. The kicker is they don't even know for sure when either phone will come to their non corporate store. A very large percentage of Tmo's base gets their phones through these 3rd party Tmo stores....and they are still in the dark. It really has been a colossal blunder of a launch for both phones.
Uncarrier is great...but they need to focus on strategy and having some sort of nationwide information network for their employees, where all Tmo branded retailers are able to give the exact same response...to someone from Portland, Maine to Portland, Oregon.
Glad I got mine through customer care with next day air... I must give Tmo credit, as that went very smoothly.

While you wait maybe get a case and (glass) screen protector too. This thing is so fragile, you don't even want to risk a minute playing hot potato with it. I've already had several close encounters, but luckily my Spigen glass and case are here. Looks great with it!
Just picked up my first Android device last night. Black S4. T-Mobile made the process pretty easy. In and out in 20 minutes. I come from a jailbroken iPhone 4, been using iPhone since the 3GS came out. Got super bored of it and hated the tiny screen. So now I'm off my family's AT&T plan and boy HSPA+ > 3G. Several people in the store were buying the S4 and they had plenty in stock.

I got lucky and ordered mine online the day they came out. It was actually a real hassle since I was a new customer and they online order bit didn't work and I ended up having to call them to finish the order and then they sent me a pre-pay SIM card instead of a post-pay SIM card which eventually had me wind up at a T-Mobile store to fix all of their mistakes. Hope you get yours soon and with less hassle than me.
yes, samsung's device getting better and better day by day, just since i9000

Surprised PDX wasn't carrying at that time, on the 8th almost all the Beaverton/Hillsboro stores were selling them. The store in Cedar Hills started selling them the night of the 7th because they just had them sitting there.
But glad you got yours timely after ordering with Customer Care.

[Q] Note 4 Pre Order Question *Please advise*(BB)

I pre-ordered the device via BB only to find out that several stores in my area only received a handful of stock ( less than 8 within a 90 mile radius .) So, I am trying to figure out if this is a nationwide thing? Whats the advantage of pre-ordering when you can go to sprint on launch day and pick one up? I called BB mobile number and they told me that they were waiting on the manufacturer. Has anyone else experienced this problem, or is this just an isolated issue for my area?
My store had 2... TWO im so pissed i even was going to buy it at sprint but they said the double buyback credit was over ...
Yeah same here in east Tennessee, pre ordered last month to only go in bright and early today and be told they don't have mine in, that I didn't pre order as early as some (also on my date of pre order the lady that helped me said "we will have enough that if you change your mind about the color you want you can change it that day" well she was wrong, and they told me to keep calling back and that they may get a shipment TONIGHT. It really blows to be let down by a terrible product release on the release date. I so happened to eyeball the cage with the phones in them and they had only around 15 note 4's, needless to say I will never pre order with them again and plus the misinformation given to me they should be held accountable due to the lack of training they give staff (that or the staff was trying to get rid of me).

YOu guys are absolutely right, I asked a manager about the issue and they blamed it on the manufacturer saying that samsung didnt deliver enough of them. Whats the point of pre-ordering if I can go to the sprint store on launch day and walk out with a phone? Sprint stores in my area are still offering the (up to 200 trade in) but not the samsung guarantee 200 with the trade in, of a phone worth atleast 10 dollars. YOU SUCK BEST BUY!
I just got off the phone with my best buy and the guy told me they got 10 in only 5 for att and 5 for Sprint.

i just called mine and they where to busy to talk or give me a idea if they had any. i left my number for the callback
I called mine, and they said they had a lot of ATT models, and I was the 3rd person from Sprint to preorder.... This guy told me that they only got 2 sprint phones. and I'd have to wait on next shipment.... Best buy is garbage. It wasn't Samsung, its Best Buy, because if sprint has a surplus and has Pre-Orders AND walk-ins, there is a gap here. They better honor the deal considering it's their fault they don't have my phone ready. I plan on going in and paying 100 + taxes give or take.
Man, this sucks that you guys are having all this trouble.
The whole double buyback thing is a farce anyway, especially if you're dealing with a relatively new device. No way would I have traded in my LG G3 for $200. I'll sell it on eBay and get at least $350 - $400 for it. This is why I normally just go with the carrier stores. Sure, their promotions aren't always great, but I paid $79 less than Best Buy would have charged me ($720 vs. $799) and I had the phone in my hands yesterday, delivered right to my door. To boot, I'll make almost double what Best Buy would have given me for my old phone. All that combined is totally worth foregoing the promotions in my book.
Regardless, I hope you guys get your phones soon That's total BS. What's the point in pre-ordering if you can't get the product on release day? Isn't that the reason pre-orders exist in the first place?
My sprint store told me the 200 buy back ended

Im actually trading in a note 2 i think its worth 10 bucks
I am quick to let my S3 go. lol, its ultra outdated. I just find it so crazy that best buy can't ever get it right come pre-orders. I think if they reserved the money aside they can come with the phones... They don't delay in taking payment, they shouldn't delay in giving the product. Now if I could go to them and say I want a pre-order and we both take our times in delivering money and product, then sure take as much time as need be.
yeah i just talked to them and they said no ETA on next shipment and mine did not come
I called my BB cause they are 45 min away. He said they had my phone set aside for me and it would be there waiting.
I believe that whole being clueless on when next shipments and things coming in, is utter crap. I've worked in retail, and for them not to know not only would be unprofessional its completely incompetent of the employees. I believe that is just what they are trained to say. Ehh, what do we do though. Might as well sit it out n wait. I think if people are just better informed things wouldn't be so bad. Don't give the "I don't know" line as a business.
