Root Telus P935? - LG Nitro HD

Has anyone with a telus optimus lte (p935) been able to root?
I've tried super one click and the manual method but both get hung up at the same place (step 7). Tried over 20 times, dubugging is on, screen timeout set to 10 mins, freshly booted, etc. Even tried z4root with no luck.
Help?

The P935 uses a firmware version that cannot be rooted. v10k is not root-able, but v10f and I believe v10i are root-able.

Is there a method to down/upgrade to a rootable version?
Thanks for the response btw.

I don't have a P935, so I can't say what the process would be for the downgrade. If I pointed you in the process for the Nitro HD/Optimus LTE P930, you could end up with a brick.

I myself have had no luck. After reading that it's possible the p930 & p935 are in some way different (Somehow I doubt it, they're the exact same device including radio) I stopped trying as there will never be a p935 specific forum. I'm content to wait until ICS arrives. I'm no rom cook, so root without many/any roms is reasonably useless to me.

no root for me either.
tried a lot of the tools out there (and all the versions of them too),
they just seem to try and write to the phones memory and fail. Then reboot the phone, and nothing changes.

Good thing I saw this! I'm in the market for a Canadian Optimus LTE/Nitro HD. Didn't know the Bell and Telus ones are different!
[Once CM9 is released for the P930, I assume it won't "just work" on the P935?]

It won't just work for the p935....as there is something different with the phone.

The firmware version on the P935 is v10a. I've yet to find information on the possibility of rooting this. Just about giving up on this & ready to sell it.

I believe I have tried every product out there. Never had such a hard time rooting. I am doing a final search today and then giving up.
Disgusted at the idea of not being a poweruser. Might as well just have bought an iphone. Disgusted.
Anyone want a great unrootable phone?

Unrooted is useless to me and won't allow me to remove Facebook. Anyway, any suggestions on a comparable phone to buy? This one rocks except it's unrootable. Love the LTE & speed but battery life is a joke. Less than 2 hours while doing nothing and the processor overheats when doing something.
Making an unrootable phone of this caliber is a joke.

Just an update:
I took a risk and attempted to to load the v10k & v10i per the unbrick/downgrade instructions and ended up soft bricking my phone. I tried again and again to re-flash but it kept hanging at the LG Optimus LTE boot screen. I left the phone for a week, then saw the OTHER way of flashing, using small http server, etc.
Tried THAT method and voila, it booted the su640 rom! I've rooted, installed CWM & in the process of installing the CM9 daily.
Things i noticed right away is that screen rotation was off by 90 degrees & wifi didn't work in the korean rom. Voice & Data worked fine after adding my the APN.
For the record, this is a Telus p935. I do NOT recommend trying this as it was messy & more than likely would have ended up with a permenant brick without a Telus KDZ.
Edit: CM9 installed just fine. Rotation works perfect & wifi works as well. Voice, data... it's all there.

Can you please write a somewhat noob friendly write up for people who are stuck on unrootable phones?
Thank you!!

How to: Root Telus p935
Standard disclaimer: I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone. It worked for me, may not work for you.
So here is how I rooted my Telus p935:
My original firmware was v10a dated sometime in Jan 2012.
Initially I tried to flash using this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412367 <---- do not use this guide
What ended up happening is my phone would boot and get stuck at the Optimus LTE splash screen. I tried v10i, v10f over and over and nothing would get it past that same splash screen. I had let the phone sit for about a week until I came across this method for flashing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554255 <---- Use this one
Seeing that my phone was already soft bricked, I really had nothing to lose. So I followed the guide step by step and it ended up booting (!!!) the korean v10f rom.
This is how it looked while it was updating:
1) The percent bar in the upgrade software did not move past 4% the entire time
2) Inside the "activity window" there was an incremental error message that ticked up until it got to about 94 and the phone would reboot. Looked like this:
2:06:40 : MODEL DLL Event : (2004, 42)
12:06:40 : Model Dll Msg Not Found(2004, 42)
12:06:44 : wParam : 2004, lParam = 43
12:06:44 : MODEL DLL Event : (2004, 43)
12:06:44 : Model Dll Msg Not Found(2004, 43)
After I flashed it the first time, I appeared to be stuck at the same place, so while I was on the "Optimus LTE" splash screen, I started to flash AGAIN. I walked away as it was updating the second time, but I assume it went through the same process as it did the first time, but I heard the boot animation of the v10f rom..... and it completed the boot.
Once I was in the v10f rom, I followed the manual root guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1407076
Rotation was off 90 degrees in the rom and wifi didn't work. If you need mobile data, use these APN settings:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434995
This allowed me to flash CWM recovery and begin flashing roms per usual. Note that ROM Manager flashed the TOUCH version of CWM which didn't read the SD Card properly! I had to manually flash the non-touch version located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410454
So that's it, I'm now running the AOKP port & enjoying being away from LG firmware. If this works for you, post here so we can confirm it's working on more than just my phone
Some tips:
- Find v10f kdz, I didn't bother linking it here
- You must follow the guides to the LETTER
- Do not use the touch cwm
- If the manual root guide gives you root but doesn't install superuser, just download it from the market (Wifi won't work in v10f, use mobile data)
- Be patient
Hopefully this is noob-proof enough! Good luck!

Bytecode64's version of CWM had some major issues and should not be used anymore. You should be using the Touch CWM on these devices.
The SD card issue can be fixed. The problem is with the way the SD cards that are included with the phone are formatted from the factory. To fix it, use this application to format your SD card from a computer: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/ . (Don't just re-format using Windows, it won't work.) If you want to preserve the files on your SD card, you can simply make a copy of them before formatting then re-copy them back onto the card. After that it should work fine in Touch CWM.

So, good to hear!!!
Is there a KDZ for the V10a?
is there a way for me to back it up? Just in case?
But can't wait to try it!!!
cheers!!!

It worked!
Um Yeah Didnt Work For me, I did everything to a t and now stuck at the LG Optimus LTE update screen, tried doing a hard reset, and Battery removal but my phone is kinda stuck in limbo
and when I try to update a second time its says it has trouble communicating with the Phone..............
EDIT!
I got it to Work After I switched the Uptest Program to CDMA, just testing seeing how everything works! ANd thankyou for Posting the tutorial Dashaiva!
I also rooted the su640 rom with a program called UnlockRoot, then proceeded to install touch CWM, and am now running CM9, and same as Dashaiva the su640 rom was off 90 degrees and no Wifi

Never seen a copy of v10a, if you do this there is no going back so far.

I also had the v10a, but after I used the CDMA setting, and CSE upgrade, it went to about 90 percent but then failed. It stayed in download mode, turned it off.then hard reset using power and volume down, it showed the Lg Optimus Screen and Booted into the Korean rom

Issue with Unbrick guide(method)

Hi there guys searched around and relaly dont see a similiar problem I am having and any help would be appreciated. So I flashed the ics leak forthe unrooted v ersion of my att&t nitro that worked fine(its the exact same one as hono's but for unrooted roms) Anyways now that att official is coming out I wish to downgrade back to a stock rom so it will update to official. problem is during the unbrick method as its at some points in broken english(not a dis) just saying can get a bit confusing.
So I get to the step where the lg tool is updating and reboots phone and phone is back on and we are at about 93 percent that the problem occurs. the program(lg tool) says that there is a problem with the usb connection to the phone communicating please pull out usb remove battery and turn phone back on and hit restart ive tried that and still gets to same point to eventually program gives up and say exit.
ive reinstalled teh shttp server and all the tools redownloaded the linked kdz file etc...cant i just flash the official att rom since im not actually bricked. or is it better to dowgrade and redo it how i am trying to do now. Any hlep is appreciated seems as newer phones come out things get more confusing then easier

i recommend you to use the original data cable that came alongwith the phone package and the usb ports at the back of the pc !
do this and try again !
yeah I am using the data cable that came with it and using the usb ports on back of pc. also i assume I cannot access the adb commands via the command line if phone isnt rooted correct? because i have t ried but thats a no go but as i said i assume thats because im not rooted.
You shouldn't have any reason to downgrade. You should just be able to use the LG tool to install the new ICS version when it "officially" comes out without any fuss.
If you want to install it right away (but slightly more difficult method), then follow the unbricking guide but use the new AT&T KDZ file instead of the one listed in the guide. And stop after it flashes that because you're done.
ok i assume the new att kdz is on this forum so i will look for it and give it a go i know the link hono had up yesterday for official attv20 was dead link.
oh another question when ya luanch the R&D test tool(UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe ) for select type do i leave it at cdma? and for phone mode leave it in diag? or should it be in emergency or cs_emergency that is not listed in the guide
ok got it to work i had to block the 127.0.0.1 lgmobile line in host and rebooted computer and pointed model dll on the R&D tool to the one in kd folder and then used the v20 official att ics and slet it stay on korean as country but chose english as language, thanks for hte help.

[Q] Lost network after baseband flash

I bought a Canadian Optimus LTE P930 unlocked off ebay. I have no idea which carrier it was originally locked to (most likely either Bell or Telus). It came with Gingerbread, and I immediately rooted and installed CM10 M2 snapshot. My carrier is Fido (subsidiary of Rogers) and my Fido sim card worked on Gingerbread, and was working on CM10 until just now. When it was working, it showed up as Rogers rather than Fido, but that's not unusual for custom ROMs.
After seeing some suggestions that changing the baseband could help with the random reboot problem on CM10, I went to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1842763 and proceeded to try out the AT&T V18f baseband (from http://www.mediafire.com/?nniz00g7c7b3p). I installed the zip through CWM (I have the latest, 6.0.something).
After rebooting, my phone was completely unable to access the cellular network! I tried manually connecting to Rogers from the settings menu - no dice. I tried locking the phone in 2G mode and then reconnecting - no luck. Then I went back to that mediafire link and tried out every single baseband with the exception of P936 ones, and still no luck.
Finally I tried reinstalling CM10 from scratch (full wipe and everything) and still no dice even after trying all of the above again. I even reset APN settings to default.
I have not tried downgrading back to stock gingerbread (actually, I can't even find the ROM, other than in the Unbricking guide). I hope I won't have to end up buying an unlock code for a phone that came unlocked in the first place.
Due to my own stupidity, I did not take note of what the baseband was on my phone before I tried flashing a new one, so I really don't know which baseband is supposed to be working. I fear that this baseband experiment ended up re-locking my phone or something.
I have tried my Fido SIM in my other phones and it works, no problem.
Does anyone know what I can do? Thanks for any possible help.
That sucks that you are having a problem with the basebands. Lots of people have been using my zips and literally no one has reported any issue with them before, so it seems very strange that it would have caused something weird to happen on your phone.
I will say that I haven't had a chance to test the zips yet with the new version of CWM (6.0.1.5). Probably the first thing I'd try is downgrading CWM to 5.8.2.0 just because I really have no other idea why you'd be having that problem. Maybe someone else can chime in and let me know if the zips are working properly with 6.0.1.5 so we can rule that out as a possibility, but in the meantime it's something easy to try.
To downgrade, open ROM Manager, and scroll down to the very last option from the main menu. Select 5.8.2.0 and it will flash it for you. After that, reboot to recovery and try flashing one of the basebands again.
I just tested it with CWM 6.0.1.5 and it worked properly on my phone, so I don't think this is the cause of the problem.
I have just tried using the P936 basebands, and they did not work.
With every baseband I tried, my phone can detect that Rogers, Bell, and Telus networks exist (the latter two show up as a weird number on P936 basebands) if I use 3G mode, but can't connect to a single one. If I toggle 2G-only mode, it only detects the Rogers network, and still cannot connect. This is the behavior you'd expect from using a foreign SIM in a network-locked phone. From this, I think I can conclude that both the phone's radio chip and my SIM card are in working condition.
From what I have read, baseband flashing should not affect the network lock on a phone right?
If I can't find any alternative, I'm going to have to use the unbricking guide to downgrade to Gingerbread, which I hope not to do as it's a lot of time wasted, and I honestly don't even know if it'll solve the problem.
edit: to add, I don't have an LTE sim card (was planning to get one later this week) so all attempts to connect to a network are only 3G and 2G,
I don't know because I haven't ever had any reason to unlock my device.
Unless it has changed since the last time I tried it, CM9 and CM10 do not have support for unlocking your phone in the case that it is locked (but will work fine if the phone is already unlocked). Let's assume for the moment that your phone still works fine, but was relocked by installing a new baseband for whatever reason. If that's the case, then you must install one of the LG official ROMs in order to unlock the device again.
You don't actually need to unbrick though. I'd suggest that you take the system and boot images from the unbricking guide, push them to the device using adb, then force reboot the phone -- that way you won't lose CWM in the process.

Yeah that's true, pretty much all custom ROMs don't have the SIM unlock feature and that's fine. I am assuming my seller on ebay just entered the unlock code on stock Gingerbread before shipping it (at least that's what I would have done).
I guess I'll flash on an official ROM tonight. Do you know where I can find a CWM-flashable stock GB ROM? The unbricking guide looks pretty darn complicated and I would prefer not to spend too much time on this, since my phone isn't bricked.
edit: Let's pretend for the moment that flashing stock GB will solve the problem and restore network access. Is there a way I could back up the baseband afterwards?

I can make one fairly easily, give me a moment... Edit: nevermind, it will take forever to upload it.
Here's what you can do:
Download system and boot images from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597488
Then from either terminal emulator or adb shell, do this:
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/boot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p8
dd if=/sdcard/system.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p27
Then force shut off the phone (remove battery or hold power button for long time), and before you let it boot up, go to CWM (by powering the phone holding the volume down button) and do a factory reset from CWM, then reboot the phone normally and you should be in business.
Thanks a lot for your help, drumist. I am downloading the files now and trying my luck! Be back with the results later.
Oh, one other thing. I'd go ahead and flash the Bell v11a baseband before you do anything else. That's probably the one you want to use with that phone, and you don't want to flash another baseband after unlocking (at least, that seems to be the case).
Got the stock AT&T Gingerbread ROM running - and the first message I got was asking for a SIM network unlock PIN!
Looks like flashing the baseband indeed re-locked my phone (I didn't think this was even possible).
edit: Called my ebay seller and got the unlock code that he'd used before sending me the phone. All is well!
thanks drumist for saving me a lot of time with your "simplified steps".
This is all very strange because I also have an unlocked p930 but flashing new base bands has done nothing to affect my unlock.

Yeah, a lot of sites say unlocks are permanent due to how they affect hardware switches. Well, half an hour later I'm finally back on CM10 with network enabled.
Just tried flashing the V18f baseband from AT&T. This time it didn't affect my network.
Weird...

ROOT Optimus G 2600 after OTA fix found & bootloader unlock with cwm update

Did you OVER THE AIR =O.T.A. update YOU CAN still Root/RECOVERY BUT YOU MUST DOWN GRADE FIRST AS OF MAY 2013
This works on all Canadian variants of the lg optimus g 2600 lte phones.
If you root you can not OTA update.
If you root and flash to any version of jellybean OTA= over the air update is no longer needed.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU ERASE YOU FAMILY HISTORY OR REMOVE YOURSELF FROM THE GENE-POOL
I did not develop or create this i just merged it so it would work.
USB debugging must be turned on found in settings then development check-mark USB debugging then plug in you phone LG drivers must be installed found here http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?3p6u1bq776bdbzi
If you have issues with getting in to recovery i did try QUICKBOOT found here http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?g4g37gwd6y99urb or download from Google play
1. Download: lg e971.zip http://d-h.st/HsU
2. Extract it
:cyclops:Update not tested i have added the files to e971.zip or download the the ZV9-ZVB-Universal-Root Posted by fiddy619 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181103
ZV9-ZVB-Universal-Root Update run CurrentRoot.bat first if it works go to freegee.bat then continue to step 8.
3. Run: RunMe.bat ignore restore instructions skip with back button
4. Run: Root.bat
5. Download busybox from the market and install it then run it
6. Transfer: cwm6027touch_v14.4.6_geebus.zip in the found LG e971 folder to your internal SD-card not in a folder in main directory.
7. Run: Freegee.bat once complete you are now ROOTED with CUSTOM RECOVERY
NOTE: This CUSTOM RECOVERY DOSE NOT WORK WELL AT ALL continuing with next step to update the custom recovery.
NOTE: To enter custom recovery shut phone off then press vol up+down+power at the same time you will see fastboot hit vol down twice you won't see anything happen on the fastboot screen hit power it will reboot to custom recovery.
8. Install zip from internal SD-card look for cwm6027touch_v14.4.6_geebus.zip in your main directory then flash it.
Now you can flash ANY Stock 4.1.2 ROM OR 4.01 ROM
Recommendation for Rogers use this Stock 4.1.2 Jelly Bean LG-E973/1/5/0 Canada / At&t / Int'l Edition found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2127346 Thank houstonn for this if you want to donate http://forum.xda-developers.com/donatetome.php?u=4852479
:cyclops:UPDATE: CM10 based roms will boot loop or just not boot due to a partition issue you must downgrade to shipped revision d not e kdz then full root/boot loader unlock then flash what you want. :cyclops:
FYI I bricked my phone once then restored it just to get this done.
After 10 hrs of playing around with all i could find in the forums i found this to work.
I have repeated these steps on 3 more phones for other owners and it works great.
Now i have no bloatware removed LG-Ui removed LG Email and Google Mail using enhanced email for faster push intervals Full nova launcher custom kernel and pimped with pimp my ROM for added tweaks and flashed g-now

Put your Optimus G into Download Mode by switching it off, attaching the usb cable to the phone, holding both the up and down volume buttons at the same time and lastly inserting the usb cable into the computer; wait for the drivers to finish loading if doing it for the first time.
Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe. Use the settings below
Type: 3GQCT
Phone Mode: CS_Emergency
Navigate to the folder which you have saved the downloaded KDZ file
Click Launch Software Update and wait for the flash process to finish
Your phone will restart itself when complete
If you get stuck on the lg logo perform a factory reset volume down power at the same time release power at logo hold volume until you see factory reset then power twice
This proses is the same for downgrade E97110D_00.kdz is the downgrade file and is necessary to flash and run any CM10 based rom because of partition settings and if you downgrade root and fregee is all that you need and i recommend the downgrade its more compatible with custom roms
NONE OF THE SOFTWARE USED IS MINE AND FOR THOSE WHO CREATED IT I THANK-YOU FOR YOU CONTINUED WORK AND DEDICATION if you know who they are and this helped donate to them not to me THANK-YOU
I AM AM JUST A TESTER TRYING IT ALL UNTIL I GET WHAT I WANT FROM MY DEVICE
Screen shots of what i have now below :good:
My 2 Cents= "If you asked for free advice and got what you paid for ? don't complain."
1st. Never upload something to dropbox if you want to distribute on public. It will rape your bandwidth allocation and you will get a warning and your dropbox public download will be cutted.
2nd. You didnt need to include your own backup file. Freegee will do the backup anyway and this might be confusing to the user if it says it failed but still have the backup done. This will also decrease significantly the size of the archive.
3rd. There is no developement done here. it's simply a re-zip of multiple package already found in this forum.
thanks for the info on drop box
and i did not claim it was anything i created or developed other than a workaround and the back up is from the developer of freegee and has been removed.
Wow

Happy to report that I am rooted thanks to the info provided here!!
I am currently running an unlocked E971(Rogers) on the bell(E973) network.
Software Version: E97110e (latest 4.0.4 firmware for E971)
Thanks for the Thread!
THIS THREAD NEEDS MORE ATTENTION!!!!
QUICK AND EASY ALL IN ONE ROOT AND BOOTLOADER UNLOCK WITHOUT A NEED TO DOWNGRADE SOFTWARE, OR DO ANY KDZ WORK OF ANY KIND! (something I still am unsure how to do)
Thanks a TON kentek. I put off rooting this phone and unlocking the booloader because of all the software downgrading and different soft brick possibilities with OTA's and other things. This made things SUUUUUPER easy.
It almost scary how easy it was, lol. I think you should include a little bit more information in the OP however. Things like "USB debugging" must be turned on. Even instructions on how to boot the phone into recovery. Personally I use quick boot. Maybe recommend people root first, then install QuickBoot before unlocking with freegee, as an easy way to get into the CWM that freegee installs. Then you can use quickboot to get into recovery and update it to sk8ers touch recovery (the BEST recovery ive ever used across numerous devices.)
Anyway..... Thanks again kentek, and hopefully more people who were having trouble, or like me, hesitant to do anything, will see this thread and have their freedom granted as quick and easy as I did.
SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTT!!!!!!!
ATRIXXIRTA I took your advice and did just that thank you for the props.
? Hows the weather up there still no snow here.
Re: Rogers e971 Root with update work around found and bootloader unlock with cwm upd
Ahhhh. Now THATS an OP! lol.
With the explanation so thorough now, nobody should have any issues. Just the more in-depth info about how freegee works. One of the things I was trying to find out was whether or not freegee replaced your recovery. Even the video on the freegee official thread doesn't explain ANYTHING. Just shows the guy booting into recovery, with no mention of the replacement cwm touch. You've pretty much made it fool proof now!
The weather here has been ridiculous. Its +12 one day, -10 the next. Its plague weather for sure, lol. Its funny, I'm literally on my way to Niagara right now as I type this. So I'll be passing through your neighborhood in about an hour, haha. I'll check out your weather as I pass through, lol.

To the OP, I wanted to thank you for posting all the information in an easy to follow manner. I can confirm that I am now rooted even though I had applied the latest OTA update from rogers prior attempting this method. Only tricky part was getting into recovery mode.. it should be "Hold the Volume UP & power buttons at the same time."
So will using this method to root and unlock bootloader cause me to lose the OTA function?
I'm on Rogers e971 with latest OTA update. I would like root so i can get back to using Titanium, but i'm not sure if i want to sacrifice my ability to run future OTA updates.

You still gets OTA with root. You can't update only if your bootloader is unlocked.

Can we relock the bootlader and accept an update if we wanted to? Assuming we were OK with the possibility that a new root method might not come

As soon as official updates are released, there's always a flashable .zip released within a week. Hell, were flashing the official update based on the Korean version of the software AND hardware, which are both slightly different. I wouldn't worry too much about ota's, lol.

[TOT] Sprint LS980 ZVC 4.4.2

The Sprint ZVC 4.4.2 .TOT is now available on the Codefire servers. TOT is used along with a .dll in LG Flash to install the stock firmware. Running this WILL erase your data including whatever is on the internal SD card.
I had to pay for this.. so donations are welcomed :highfive:
TOT (ZVC zip.. unzip it FOOL!) and .DLL can be found HERE.
Guide to use this can be found HERE. Yes, it's for Verizon but it can be loosely followed.. just replace the verizon stuff with the Sprint files.

Noob question: If I use this TOT to upgrade my ZV7 to ZVC, can I downgrade it back to ZV7 using ZV7 TOT? Asking since I use the permanent unlock and if it does not work on ZVC, I will have to downgrade it.

I have not done it, but I believe others have confirmed you can still downgrade.
Permanent GSM unlock will be erased if you use flash tool.
I took the OTA without root with stock recovery without GSM unlock.
Managed to root using ioroot25, flashed CDMA on NV got data for CDMA, then tried the unlock for GSM. Did not work. Now after messing around I managed to unlock GSM with data. Also found that it's either GSM or CDMA. Both for now will not work together like before.

Unrelated to the update by phone decided to brick itself while doing a backup.
I decided to go ahead and do the upgrade while I am restoring. I can get into download mode, but my computer can no see it. Installed Drivers already, just does not show up in device manager.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can get this going?
Is there a version that won't wipe all data from the phone? i made a backup but forgot to drop box it so now i need to save that if possible and then restore the firmware

Change the port number for the device in the Microsoft device manager...I can't remember if it is port 41 or port 43. Give both a try!

It is port 41, but I can not change it as Windows doesn't recognize that a device has been plugged in at all.
New to TOT and LG in general, would I be able to use this to come from ZV8? I assume that TOT's completely redo everything so it doesn't matter (to a degree) what's on it before (except in the case of downgrading). Thanks!

Try different drivers. I had to use the TOT method found here and it worked for me with no issues. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
This worked where the modified OTA failed. I did need to unplug and re-attach the phone after the driver sorted itself out.
Thank you!
Hope someone makes a flashable pre rooted ROM.zip from this.

so if I flash to zvc, knowing the unlock will be erased, then root the phone using ioroot 25, follow the steps of permanent unlock, will it work on GSM again?

what's the MD5/SHA1 sum for the TOT so I can be sure my download is good?
Wonder if this happened to anyone else. First I installed the LGFlashTool 1.8, then set my clock to 4/1/2012 and opened LGFlashTool. It says something about LG FLASH TOOL ERROR LG USB/PARELLEL. went ahead anyway and selected the .dll and .tot files and changed all the ports per instructions. Long story short, the files flashed but showed failed at 94% but phone had booted to accessibility settings and was talking to me in the weird robotic voice. I went ahead and disconnected and set up phone then rooted with ioroot25. all seems to ok but I wonder if the fail is going to be a problem somewhere down the line. I have not noticed any problems. Any suggestions?

[Q] IMEI = 0, but phone working normally?

NOOB ALERT: I am very new to this, but have done a bunch of searching and have come up empty. If I missed any threads that may have addressed this, my apologies.
Hello,
I recently tried flashing a custom rom on my e971 for the first time after 2 years of ownership and getting bored of stock rom. Rooted as described in the ROOT/BL-U/L/Install custom recovery thread for Canadian G's (zv9-zvb universal root), U/L BL with freegee and installed cwm (also through freegee). I then flashed pacman rom 4.4.4 for the e973, as it was my understanding that it would work properly. Rom flashed successfully and the phone worked for the most part (though there seemed to be some bugs with the rom).
One thing I noticed was that my imei was displaying as 0 in settings, which was a concern. After searching the forums for this problem, i found that most people with this problem couldn't connect to their operator, whereas I could connect fine (though my network speeds seemed slower than usual). No problem making calls, SMS, or using mobile data (MMS was hit and miss though).
I've since successfully restored my stock backup via cwm, tried restoring my efs partition via freegee (used freege to backup), re-flashed the JB radio for my model, but have had no luck getting my imei back (phone still works though).
The only other thing I can think of trying is the Unbrick guide using a kdz, however the kdz downloader app gives me an error when i input my model and serial. My other concern with this method would be ruining a phone that's currently working.
Can anyone recommend any solutions or offer any insight as to why this may have happened?
Thanks very much.
A couple of things... First off, to flash a KDZ, try using a flash tool 2014, it should work (worked on my F180S). Second, you could just leave your phone as is, unless you are planning to use it abroad (I am assuming you are in Canada). Unlike in other places in the world, e.g. Europe, nulled IMEI somehow works perfectly fine in Canada, which I know from my own experience with at least two different phones. Weird, but true. So, if you are only planning to use it locally, it shouldn't be much of a concern, really...
Thanks for the reply. Yes, in Canada, but unfortunately, I can no longer connect to Rogers at all. I'll take a look at the LG flash tool thread and see if I can figure it out. Still not sure where to find the kdz file though...
You mentioned you've experienced the IMEI problem. Do you happen to know if flashing the kdz will restore the IMEI (not sure if that's what you meant by "worked on my F180s"?

Take a look here: http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=20
The KDZ you need is listed under "Rogers".

I just meant that when I had to flash stock KDZ on my F180 (several times, for various reasons), Flash Tool 2014 worked perfectly for me. So, if you are having issues flashing KDZ by other methods, it's the best tool to use.
My IMEI problems were on totally different phones... I haven't encountered any IMEI issues with OG. Some people say that flashing KDZ does restore IMEI, others indicate that it doesn't. I can't say... If you used FreeGee in the past, you might have made an EFS backup. Restoring from it would be your best bet.
Thanks again. I did make a backup using freegee, but restoring through freegee doesn't seem to do anything (I get a message saying the process is complete, but still no IMEI).
I'll give the flash tool a try and report back.
Update: successfully flashed back to stock by kdz, but no change with the IMEI, and still not connecting to network. Still have the backup EFS partitions saved, but unless there's another way to restore them besides freegee, I think I'm SOL.
Update 2: After a day of showing no connection to the network, my phone decided to connect to rogers wireless today. Didn't change anything, and IMEI is still 0.
I hope you can fix it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55471364&postcount=4
Good Luck :good:
