[Q] Bluetooth Remote for Music - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

All,
I need some help trying to find a remote control for the phone. I use the phone as my music/pandora player.
As of next month my state of AZ will make it illegal to have people texting in the car so I figured if I have the phone tucked away and just control the music with a bluetooth remote would be cool.
Any help would be great!
Thanks

What about mapping the volume buttons to be used as forward/reverse track? I'd like to do this, but haven't figured out a way...
I come from the LG Optimus V, which worked beautifully with Button Remapper: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464

Please stay on topic of OP. Don't use his thread to re-ask your question, I think the whole purpose of his thread/search for remote is so he doesn't have to touch his phone.

Just need to find where they have in stock...would this work for you (I know its not Bluetooth )?

that is bluetooth. i currently use that unit and am searching for where they have it in stock or a similar unit for a friend. the advantage of this unit over various other bluetooth car kits is the remote, which works very well. your phone pairs with the cigarette lighter unit and i assume the remote naturally pairs with the unit, therefore allowing hands free operation of your music for play, pause, track forward, track backward.
anyone have tips on how to set the default player so that the button play always loads up that player?

Touch Pro2 remote control

Hi All,
I have a quandary!!!!
I would like to be able to remotely control my tp2 while it is sat in its dock connected to my stereo playing music and charging. Ideally via blue tooth or wifi.
In an ideal world, it would be nice if this elusive gadget had a screen showing what was playing, and any incoming caller id info, and associated controls, except, reject, along with the basics for the music, stop, play, skip, volume, etc
I have blue tooth head phones, which work great but to my knowledge (which is very limited) the tp2 will not output through the mini usb at the same time.
Has anyone come across such a beast?
Thanks in advance
there are several programs which let you take over the whole pda control having it's desktop in a window on your computer being able to perform any task there you can on the pda
I would love for something like this as well since I am always using my phones in my truck for either music of movies to keep my son entertained. Does anyone have any ideas if something like this exists. I know that some of the headphones have controls on them but I have not seen an actual remote control for a PDA yeat.
Hi, have a look in here. I think it is exactly what you are looking for.

Tilt2 stock rom - BT Headset to pause/play music (coreplayer)- AVRCP?

So after some research I kay be looking for something called avrcp or i may be wrong. I can get all audio to play through my phone but id like to pause the file with my headset if this is possible. I have a plantronics voyager 910 and a Motorola H720.
I saw some stuff with people talking about other roms im on stock . Im just hoping I can do something like where the push to talk/accept call button would work to play/pause whatever media file I'm using and maybe the vol up/down buttons would make it skip forward or backward. tat would be pretty cool.
Thanks for the help
I don't this is supported by coreplayer. I'm using it fine on WMP.
Thank you,
So is there a way to get .avi's to play in WMP? What are you using to get this feature working a particular program, do I need a particular headset?
Here is what I am trying to do; the gym I go to has tv's all over the place, there is a little corner kind of subsided I want to hook my tilt2 up to the TV and start doing P90x on it. Just hooking up the video though, Ill keep the audio going through Bluetooth. I already tried this on my TV at home and the video worked and the audio kept going through Bluetooth.
i prefer Core player if its possible but if I can make WMA play .avi's then that will be fine as well.
Sorry WMP will not play AVI's. There's no progress on TCPMP using AVRCP on TP2 because it uses Widcomm stack (they've solved it for the TP).
A solution would be to convert your files to MP4 (use something like MP4HD) and then play on WMP.
Thanks, that is what I was considering doing was formatting them differently. but I still don't know what I would use to enable the pause/play stuff on the Bluetooth is this some special software I need or is it native to the program?
Hello,
I was still wondering if there is a particular program I need to get in order to use my BT headset to pause/Play and other functions or is this a native functionality. If so I am unable to figure out how to activate it.
Thank you!
AFAIK it's native. Mine works on WMP with no problems. And also on Sense/Manilla music tab. As you can see I'm using Jacko's ROM (broadcom stack I think). I'm using Motorola S9 headphones.

[Q] Bluetooth or car dock?

Hello my fellow Galaxy S II owners...
I have a dying Sony Xplod stereo installed in my car that only run MP3s, nothing special about it.
I want to buy a new stereo system that can pair with the Galaxy S II so that I can stream music to it and make phone calls while driving.
Since this is new to me, I would like to ask for your help figure out what my options are:
- Shall I get a stereo system with USB link? or bluetooth? and why?
- A simple research on the XDA forums says that not all Galaxy phones can make phone calls using the USB link, is that the same for the bluetooth?
I'm thinking this would be good, but I want to hear from you too, what do you think? http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-DEH-6...ef=sr_1_2?s=car&ie=UTF8&qid=1337028884&sr=1-2
Thanks,
I have both in my car and prefer bluetooth by a long shot.
To be honest I never heard of the possibility of using USB to make phone calls. As far as I knew the only thing possible with USB was to use your phone as some kind of mass storage device, where it would find your .mp3 files and be able to play them.
With bluetooth you can play everything on your phone that plays through the speakers. I use it for navigation / phone calls / radio / spotify. Also the buttons on the steering wheel of my car work perfectly for switching tracks on my phone, and the track info is displayed in the dashboard of my car.
Especially combined with spotify this is amazing. On my PC spotify client I just favorite some new songs and without having to take my phone out of my pocket the music is synced to my phone via wifi, then when I get in the car all my music is right there! You'll need a spotify premium account though, but in my opinion well worth the money.
Just make sure that when you buy your new stereo it is able to play A2DP. On my previous car this wasn't supported and this meant I was only able to use it for making phone calls.
Funny thing was that whenever I was in the middle of a phone call and my nav on my phone gave me a "turn left" notification or something it played fine during the phone call. So if you ask me this was just lazyness from the developers not to implement it. To anyone thinking about buying a new car, avoid "Blue & Me" it really is terrible.
Hope this information helps you in your decision
Thank you for the reply, now I know what I should be looking for.
I'll update this post once I get the stereo and test it
Thanks once again

You mean like any bluetooth stereo headphones? I'm pretty certain no wired headset will do this because the headphone jack doesn't support it.
There are quite a few standalone bluetooth stereo receivers around that you can plug generic headphones or a stereo line-out into though. I prefer the Jabra BT-3030 'dogtag' receivers, but there are plenty of others around. Just do a search on Froogle, Buy.com or any other big electronics site and you'll find them. The only real difference between them all is battery life and sound quality, they all have media player controls using standard Bluetooth profiles and they all include a condenser mic built-in.
No, I was talking about a button on the wired headphone, like the Galaxy S, to skip track, answer call, those sort of things.
From what LG answered me, it's not possible...
Downer there :|
Finaly found a spare pair of headphones from a Galaxy, with the button for the media controller.
Turns out, it works!
Long press opens voice control,
short press starts media player
two short press skips the track when playing.
There must be a standard for Android, I'll try to find the list tomorow and test it out, but anyway, good thing it works.
Anyway, good things it works! I'm running a lot, long distance, and it'll screw up any bluetooth, even S-10 (my current pair had some issue but cleaned up after drying in rice), so the good ol' button hearphones with the media controller is the best for me!
I've ordered a "seperate" microphone with a button and the input, I'll test and let you know!
I just bought some a-JAYS One+ for about 60$ The remote works with the Optimus G and most android phones.
The remote lets you:
Skip tracks
FF / Rwind
Play / Pause
Volume up / Down
Pick up calls
The sound quality is actually very good especially for bass junkies like myself. Not to mention the sleek swedish design.
I absolutely recommend them to anyone out there.
Cheers!

it is not a Android feature, it is just the the extra rim on the 3.5 headphone minijack that adds controls to it. and Android have adapted it. like micro USB for charging and connecting.
open standards are always to prefer

Well, I tried with my old Nokia N95 headset which has play, forward, volume, etc. And it did not work as expected, some buttons work as a single button headset. Also bought a Samsung headset (could not find LG headsets) with a button and volume control and the volume control does not work, the volume up key replicates the button.
So it is not that standard.
Or is there an app to activate the volume and multimedia buttons on those headsets?

[Q] Is it possible to hook up a remote to control the SIII's media player?

So this is what I am trying to find out.
I use my SIII in my truck as a media player on long trips hooking it up to my car stereo's line-in input.
What I want to do is to mount a mount/cradle so I can leave the SIII securely mounted/seated somewhere on the dash board and control the music player apps ( Playerpro or the stock music player) through a handheld wireless remote control.
I know the SIII does not have IR receiver so that is out but is there a way to hook up a BT or wifi remote so I can safely control the music playback and navigate up/down folders of music while driving?
Thanks for any ideas you guys might have on this.
I agree it would be useful to have a physical remote with real tactile buttons for use in car, bike or running.
As far as I know, currently the closest option would be a bluetooth remote as there is a bluetooth profile for media control. However, I think it's probably somewhat more limited than what you're looking for. I believe the profile is limited to play/pause, FF, REW, forward skip and back skip. If you're able/willing to setup your playlist in advance so that you're okay with those controls than it should be workable. You won't be able to navigate any menu system.
The other issue is I'm not aware (but you could always try to google for it) of any standalone bluetooth remote. Every one I've ever seen are integrated into some other device. I have remote functions on my bluetooth headphones and my car has an integrated bluetooth sound system and can remote control playback through the dash and steering wheel controls.
If that would work for you, you could consider replacing your stereo deck with one that has bluetooth integrated then you'll be able to control playback through the deck's controls. You'll probably need to stream the audio over bluetooth as well for that to work.
Thanks for the BT suggestion. I will look into it and see if there is anything out there that will work. If I can get a BT solution working without too much cost/effort, I will gladly make a bunch of playlists if that is all that can be controlled by the BT media control profile.
The reason I 'need' to use my S3 in my car is that in my truck (2005 Chevy Avalanche) unlike the current model GM trucks, has no provision for any type of AUX input except for the one I rigged up intercepting the XM module's analog audio output. It is getting to the point that I am really tempted to just replace the head unit with one that will take an USB flash drive and all my problems will be solved.
Thanks again for taking the time to post a reply. :good:
