How to buy an app if I used a cracked version before? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I used a cracked version before of some apps. Now I want to buy them, and.. I can't.
I see on the market what I have purchased that app, but I can't download it, because I'm getting an error that I haven't paid for an app. Which is true.
So how then I can buy it? How to make Android market believe, that I don't have that app?

Props on coming clean.
Use TB to backup app data.
Uninstall.
Install through market.
Restore data.

Hi,
Thanks for quick reply.
I did that already. I uninstalled the cracked app, deleted appdata and cache before uninstall. Restarted the phone, but still in the market I see that I "purchased" the app.
App is not on my phone, but Google thinks that I purchased the app.
I tried to uy the app using pc and browser. Still the same.

This seems to be a serious flaw in the newest implementation of Google Play. Every app you install, even if you got it from GetJar or Amazon or XDA, Google saves that info to the cloud. If it's a paid app, the cloud thinks you purchased it - except that when you try to download it, Google won't let you because you didn't purchase it there. The web store, viewed from a desktop, gets confused too. So there's no way to actually buy the damn app.
I'm currently experiencing this with SetCPU (downloaded free from author's thread on XDA but the newest version isn't there) and Smart Office 2 (was free on GetJar but they don't have latest version).
Ironic workaround - you have to hack the HTML to force Google to let you buy the app! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23356474&postcount=18

[Q] Amazon Appstore and Google Marketplace keep fighting over updates

Hey, guys.
I downloaded some free apps of the day from Amazon's Appstore that now cost money. However, Google's Marketplace sees that I have that app and there's an update for it but I can't download it. So, right now it just sits there under my apps claiming to have an update. However, since I didn't pay for it through Google Marketplace, it wants me to pay for it before I can update it.
Is there anyway to fix this to let Google Marketplace be where I update all of my apps? OR is there anyway to make Google Marketplace know the app I got from Amazon is paid for and I'll update it through Amazon?
For example, I have CardioTrainer free version through Amazon. Google Market will update the app, but then Amazon will re-download an update for it. Then Google will then say there's a new update for it. And then Amazon will re-download an update for it. So, the updating just goes in circles here. Help, please. Thanks!
can amazon apps. stick with the original marketplace. what is the benifit of getting it from the amazon app store insted? do you like drm?
I'd estimate 90% of amazon app store users only have it for the free paid app of the day, lol.
OP: I've never had an issue with Android Market fighting with Amazon app store. Don't download the same app from Android that you get from Amazon. Just let Amazon maintain the apps you buy/get free from them.

I already told you: The free app of the day.
Although, you can call me a cheap bastard, I suppose, and tell me to just buy the freakin' app on Google Marketplace. So, there's that.
Happened to me as well. I booted into cwm and wiped cache and dalik cache and issue went away.
are you getting ther market to request update but not amazon. Thats my issue. Market says update available amazon doesn't but through market I always fail to install.
Clearing cache and dalvik didn't help me . Thanks for any more help.

Its going to happen sometimes when one had a newer version then the other. Not much we can do to change it.
I don't think that this has ever happened to me, and I have like all of the free app of the days (although not all of them installed).
I guess what somehow happened is that they got attached to the Android Market. You can detach them using Titanium Backup. Just long press on the app and it will give you the option. I'm not sure if it works in the regular version; I have the pro version.

[Q] Noob - HELP Android Market you did not paid for it error

A co worker copied a root explorer apk to my phone, I installed it but my conscious got the best of me as I do not believe in stealing so I decided to buy it but I can't buy it because it says already purchased. Any way to correct this?
Did you try deleting the original apk and then try purchasing? Not sure if it will work or not.

Well, you could contact the maker of the app and explain the situation. Maybe pay for it through PayPal or something.

Yeah I would contact the maker of the app and explain what happened.
Honestly ... I didn't pay for root explorer at first either... I got it from someone else as well..BUT I loved it so much I deleted it and paid for the real one... ( I like to do it this way if the creator of the app doesn't offer a trial version)
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
U just need to uninstall it. If its installed to your system then you need to use root explorer to delete data and cache of the apk then delete the apk in system and reboot

nope it's locked in
it's a known issue with Google Tech support for Android Market
it's permanently burned into your account
they have no way to fix it yet
it also happens with other LEGIT Apps from Amazon and Getjar
i opened a complain ticket several days ago
I had the same with an app I had gotten from the Amazon market, but it hasn't been getting updates there, but has on the Android market. Well the Android market had it on sale for ten cents, so I tried to buy it there and have not been successful. I haven't really tried hard to get it though.

Uninstall it, clear all your caches, and go to your application settings & wipe data for the market. That usually works for me.

See only purchased apps?

I have to scroll through the 'All' tab now to find them? I got like 20 lol. I just noticed this because I'm on a new et4g and no longer have backups.
You can visit the Play Store on your PC, and there's a tab for your apps. It'll list all the apps you've purchased (free & paid).

What about on my phone? I don't really feel like going on my PC just to see apps I know I've purchased. It is a hassle to skip throughout free apps I know I've bough.
You can push the apps to your phone from your PC. Make sure your phone shows in menus by visiting your Google Play Store settings
New version of play store has this, just swipe in the my apps screen on your phone and it lists any app you have installed on your account.

Sorry, I had to revive this. OP only wants to see his purchased apps. Not all hundred thousand that he has ever downloaded. Google Market, before Play, only showed purchased apps. And it was perfect. Now, every app I have ever installed is on that damn list. Its stupid. I only want to see the apps I care about: the ones I spent money on.

Yeah but what if your phone died and you had no backups to transfer to another phone? You really want to try to remember all of them? However, filtering options would be nice.

I'll post the answer for anyone that happens to be looking for a solution (as I was). It appears that the consensus is to uninstall market updates (settings > applications > play store) so you have an older version. With an older version, I believe you can see them at the bottom of "my apps." Unfortunately, the market will likely update itself again so it's something you can do anytime you want to see your purchased apps. Some have been successful in preventing auto-update; others, not so much.
The other option is to review your transaction history in Google Wallet.
Do you know which play store version was the last to show bought apps?

Someone modified a play store app to show your paid yet not installed apps. Search xda for play store legacy or something. If not I can post the apk when I get a chance. I found it on xda though so I know it's here somewhere.

I don't believe there is a way to tell if an app is side loaded unless you specifically remember or check the market for ones that don't receive updates.

Thanks in advance...
It may not help, but Titanium Backup has a Market Link feature where I think you can create/restore or disable a market link for apps. I've never used this feature so im not real sure its what youre looking for, but maybe you can find a way to filter based on this?

A "sideloaded" app is an app that has been installed on the phone without it being downloaded with Android Play/Market. Most file explorers will do this.
The latest versions of Android Play/Market will not update an app that has been sideloaded. It only allows you to open or uninstall the them. While this makes sense for paid apps (they might be pirated) it does not make sense for free apps (such as apps purchased on Amazon or download from XDA).
I sideload many apps (some apps from XDA) and I am trying to make a text list of all of my installed apps and then denote which of the apps were loaded through Google Play/Market and which were sideloaded. Any free Android Play/Market available apps that I find that I have sideloaded I will uninstall and re-install using Android Play/Market so they will update appropriately.
That is why I am trying to do this.

I believe they are signed differently. A sideloaded app will NOT receive updates from the Play Store.

TB will show you which apps have market links, don't see a way to export it but if you email the whole list you could print it and cross them off or just load them into a spreadsheet... Not as quick but should be <10 mins.

I fixed the links and ran autoupdater after selecting all, only market loaded apps showed up man so.....
